The Wednesday wellbeing show 14th of October 2020 Lisa King
This week on the #wednesdaywellbeing show I'm chatting with the lovely Lisa King.
Lisa is known as 'The clarity trailblazer'. Helping people fulfil their brilliance to live life on their terms.
She's an international author, speaker and TEDx speaker and the co-author of a series of inspirational books.
The first in the series came out on the 30th of September 2020, is available on Amazon and they're called 'Stories of Truth and Triumph'.
These amazing books share the
challenges, trauma and difficulties that 15 inspirational individuals went through.
Their life experiences and their rise from the ashes to overcome trauma, hardship, and mental wellbeing struggles.
All the proceeds from the books are going towards a beautiful charity called Megan's Space.
Megan was 20 years old when she took her own life. The first books launch date marked a year since Megan took her life and honours her by helping other young people facing mental health challenges.
Our mental health system is underfunded and doesn't offer enough support for young people contemplating suicide. Megan's space provides those essential links to support, therapy and treatment. It does this within days of people reaching out to them. Not weeks or months but rapidly, and it saves lives.
Megan's space not only provides immediate support but it empowers and raises up young people, gives them the help they need, to not just feel better, but to live their lives to the full.
Today I'm chatting with Lisa about her difficult teenage years and her story of how she lost her partner, overcame ill health and the unhealthy coping mechanisms she had in place. Lisa refers to this as an unmasking process.
She dug deep into her past to understand where the masks had come from, these included, the joker, the people pleaser and the Lone Ranger. All of these masks were either coping mechanisms or a way to connection that she desperately needed.
Lisa shares how to unmask, be more authentic and deeply heal.
