The movie Encanto and most specifically the experiences of the character Luisa, inspired Kimberly to record this video speaking about the challenges of a first gen immigrant. The pressure of being the oldest daughter in an immigrant household, being the first one to go to college, and the importance of building financial wealth to support our families! This video has approximately 2 million views and resonated with so many of us!!
In the interview Kim shares what being an undocumented immigrant has been for her, the guilt that she has felt and how she deals with it, the pressure and concerns of being your parent's retirement plan, and how multifaceted and resilient immigrants are.
