Welcome to the Success by the Book Podcast, the place where Christians who want to experience the extravagant goodness of God in all areas of their lives come from mentorship. I am your host, Dr. Una, and I'll be unpacking the secrets I have learned from the Word of God over the last two decades. Let's dive in. I want us to start off with why declarations matter. Okay, because if we understand it and we have the faith behind it, then we will experience the results. So this is really, really important. So I want to show you four things that declarations will do in your life based on the word of God. Okay. So sometimes it's like, you know, affirmations, yeah, that's woo-woo. People talk about it, all of that. No, no, no. Your God is a speaking God. The kingdom you're a part of is a speaking kingdom. And it's speaking is something that we need to learn how to do. So let's let's unpack some of these things here, okay? So why is this important? Well, the very first reason why this is important is because of how we are made. In Genesis 1.26, God said, and let us make man in our image and after our likeness, and let him have dominion. And they started talking about the different spheres of dominion, but in our image, after our likeness. And what that means is we look like God. Now, of course, our spirits, right? Like we look like God. We are designed to function like him. And so when you think about it, the first time we hear about God, as recorded in the scriptures in the book of Genesis, it was him as a creator. And if he's a creator, then we are creators as well. And when we look at the first round of creation, like how he did it, it was by speaking. So he walked into a place, he saw the way the place was. The Bible says, you know, it was dark, it was void, um, and all of that stuff. It was without form. And the Bible says, and God said, light be. And so he started declaring what he wanted to see, not what was. And so if we're made in his image and after his likeness, and he's a creator, he uses his words, then we're creators as well, and we use our words. Okay, and so this is also the reason which that is a completely different podcast episode. That is the reason why we don't get to just say things carelessly. We don't get to say things that will hurt ourselves, our children, our marriages, and all things like that. Like we want to recognize, be aware that our words have power. Okay, so that first thing is that God is a creator and he creates by speaking. It's not the only thing he does. If you go to Genesis 2, you'll see he was forming things as well. But he creates by speaking. We are creators like our Father, we create by speaking as well. So that's the first reason why declarations are just ridiculously amazing. The second thing is that the raw material of creation is the word of God, right? Like, so let me read a scripture here. Okay, so this is John chapter 1, verse 1. Okay, and this is what it says. So this is the word of God. Remember, this is a success by the book podcast. So we see in the book, we do it, right? Okay. It says, In the beginning, the word already existed. Okay. In the beginning, the word already existed. The word was with God, and the word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. That's verse two. Verse three, God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. Okay, so the word of God was there. You'll see it. There are many, there are many different verses that talk about that, but his word. And so, as Christians, as people who are followers of Jesus, as people who are children of God, we're made in his image after his likeness. There's certain words he says to create. And when we take those words and speak them as well, we're creating, right? Like we're creating so that we can have his kind of results, the results that we want to see. Okay? All right. So the first thing is, you know, we're creators like him, and he uses his words to create. The second thing is that the raw material that he uses for creation is his word, and we have access to the word. Um, sometimes people say, Well, the will of God is mysterious, right? And for me, I'm like, he wrote 66 books. And if he wrote 66 books to tell stories about his dealings with people, um, you know, his nature, his character, and you know, like the his track record, all of that. I'm like, I there's some things about him we're not gonna know, but he's clearly not trying to be mysterious, right? Okay. So we have access to his word, and it's almost like a bag of seeds where you can take it and you're like, oh wow, this is what this word says. I can speak it over my life. All right. The third thing is we deploy power, things happen when we speak. Okay, so we see that you know God said, Let there be light, and all those things. But let's look at look let's look at this this this verse. So Proverbs 1821 says that death and life are in the power of the tongue. And you know, that's a more traditional translation. If we look at the New Living translation, this is what it says, okay? So Proverbs um chapter 18, verse 21. It says the tongue can bring death or life. The tongue can bring it. So I want you to think about it. Like, think about every time you're speaking. You can literally ask yourself, these things that I'm saying, are they attracting life? Are they bringing life? Are they bringing death? Right? And so when you stay and you have these daily affirmations or declarations based on the word of God, and you're saying them and saying them and saying them, what you're doing is you have this dedicated time where you're committed to bringing life to your life. Okay, because Jesus said, the words I speak to you, they are spirit and they are life, right? And so you're using that to attract life to your life. All right. So that's the that's the third reason we deploy power when we declare God's word. Now, the fourth thing is when we make these declarations, we're really rewiring our subconscious narrative. So I remember, you know, like growing up, I had thoughts about, you know, could I have access to wealth? Or would I be liked by people? Or would my marriage work? Like there's so many thoughts that I had. Um, I, you know, I think every human being, there are thoughts that keep coming up of, you know, self-doubt or failure or mediocrity, or yeah, even though it's so good, the other shoe is about to drop, like all of those kind of thoughts. And sometimes it's running so much louder than we even recognize. You know, like it's just running. It's a subconscious narrative that just keeps playing. When we take the time to constantly look in the word, declare it over our lives, all of those things, what we're doing is we're rewriting that where after a while, what you start imagining for yourself is completely different from what it used to be. Why? Because you're hanging out with the word of God. The Bible says that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. That's Proverbs 23:7. So we really want to be those people who take the time to think about what we're thinking about because we become what we think. And when you're doing the declarations, you are kind of controlling what you're allowing yourself to think. You're introducing yourself to new thoughts, new possibilities, and you do it long enough and you believe it. Right? And it's the word of God, and it's worth believing. So, what I want to do, I want to run you really quickly through this so that you can see the declarations that we make every single day on Arise and Shine. And I want to give you, I'm also gonna show you somebody who's done this and it's gonna absolutely, absolutely blow your mind. Okay. All right, so here we go. These are these are the nine declarations, and these are all based on scripture. Okay, so the first one is I experience progress every day and in every aspect of my life. And the scripture there is Proverbs 4.18 that says the path of the just shines brighter and brighter until that perfect day. And you know, the New Living Translation says it's like the first gleam of dawn, right? Like, and so think about the sunrise. Think about sitting by the ocean, watching the sunrise. Initially, everything is dark, and then you see the sun like a little dot, right? Or you see it a little brighter before you even see the sun, is it starts getting a little brighter, then you see the sun like a dot, and it just keeps getting brighter and brighter and brighter until all the darkness is gone away. God says that the path of the just is just like that. Like, think about that. And so when you hear people say things like, this is the least I'll ever be, I don't have best better yesterdays, all of those kind of things is from script, is from scriptures like this one that that came from. And so for me, when I started declaring this, I'm like, okay, this is in line with what the word of God says. But now I'm actually like, Yes, I I experience progress every day and in every aspect of my life. And so there are nine areas of life, and I expect progress in every single one of those areas. I look for it, and every day I'm faithful to look back and say, oh my goodness, look at what happened. You start recognizing your progress, your micro progress, all of it because it's happening. And because my expectation is that way, I show up different, I choose to do things different, I choose to um say yes to maybe things I would have procrastinated on, right? Okay. The second one is everything is working to push me forward. So Romans 8 says, all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. And when you think about it, what that means is even when there are setbacks, even when there are obstacles, even when there's a pandemic, like all of these things, you can believe God that in the middle of that, there is a win for you, there's progress for you, there's um, there's all of those things. Um, Myron Golden, somebody I listened to, and he made a statement one day that I'll never forget. He said that there's no such thing as a one-sided piece of paper. So if there's something that's there is an advantage, a disadvantage, there's an advantage there as well. And God is God is smart enough, God is powerful enough, God is wise enough to figure out how to take the things that are setbacks and turn them around that they work for us, right? And if you think about it, for instance, Joseph, Joseph was already sold as a slave, right? Like things were already the way they were. And then he decided to to honor God by not sleeping with his boss's wife, and knowing that that could get him into trouble. And then he did get into trouble. You know, they they the husband believed her and sent him to prison. And that is a setback, right? But in the prison, he meets two people, he interprets their dreams. One of them goes on to get reinstated with Pharaoh, and it's like one of the people in his inner court, one of his right-hand men, if you will. And it when they had a national problem, this guy says, Oh, yeah, I met somebody in prison. He can solve that. He went from the prison to second in command in the world's superpower, like the the nation that was really running the world at the time. And so, yes, that was an unfortunate situation that he went to jail. But the truth of the matter is he ended up working for his good, right? Okay, the third one is I walk with a picture of God-level possibilities. The scripture we use there is Genesis 15, 1 to 6, and it really is about um God trying to sell Abraham on this dream that he's gonna have so many descendants that he won't even be able to count them. And God kept putting that picture in front of him until the Bible says, and he believed God, right? He finally got to that place where he believed God. And I'm like, wow, like I walk around with a picture of God level of possibilities, not self-doubt, not mediocrity, not failure, all of those things. Like I have my mind that works that way. Okay. I'm personally led by the Most High God, I lack nothing, which may sound arrogant to you. Remember that Psalm 23, verse 1 says, The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. That is literally what it says. And so I walk around expecting direction from the Lord, expecting to be guided, and expecting to live a life where the things I need are provided for. So even as an entrepreneur, a serial entrepreneur, I have needs in my business for a team and all of that. I could I could think this thought of there's nobody anywhere that can do this. Where will I find the person to hire? Or I can go like the Lord is my shepherd, the Lord guides me. I will not want. So it means that He's gonna connect me to the person I need. The person is there. I'm just gonna do my part and God's part will happen. Okay. Um, I go deeper in God to go higher in every aspect of my life. And Isaiah 60, verse 1 says, Arise, shine, your light has come, right? And so it means we can arise and we can shine, but not because of us. Now, of course, we have a part to play, which we'll see in the next declaration, but God, you know, we shine based on his light, like his light has come, not my light. And so the more time I spend in him, the more time I spend with him in prayer, in meditation, in fellowshipping with the spirit, in obedience, all of those things, the more I can reflect his glory, the more I can shine, right? The more I can live a life that is a sign and wonder, that's mind-boggling, right? And so I used to think, you know, the deeper I go in God, the more fanatical and weird I become. But the truth of the matter is the deeper we go in him, the higher we climb in life, right? Okay. Next one, I fully engage in my partnership with God for unprecedented victory in every area of my life. I really love this one because it's that marriage, is that partnership where I, you know, if you think about David and Goliath, for instance, um, or well, let's use the scripture we have here. So we use Deuteronomy 2.24, where God told the children of Israel, see, I have given into your hands, past hands, Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbron. Now I've given him into your hand and his land. Now begin to possess it and engage him in battle. What does that mean? I, God, have given it to you, I've wielded to you, I've guaranteed the victory. Now you go fight and go win. So he God does his part, I do my part. So the problem is when we sit down and say, Oh, won't he do it? He'll do everything, which he doesn't. He works in partnership with us, right? Same as David and Goliath. Um, you know, God was ready to take down Goliath the entire time the Israelite army was running away from him. It was only when David came out and said, I will go fight him, that it looked as if God gave them the victory, but he had given them the victory the whole time. Okay. Um, and then after that is my my life will have a global impact. I live a life of global impact. Now, this is one of my favorite things because um I used to read Genesis chapter 12, verses 1 to 3. It talks about the blessing of Abraham. And if you read through the scriptures, you'll see, like, as Christians, we are, you know, like Abraham's blessings are ours as well. And so I would read, you know, you know, Abraham, you know, go away from your father, your mother, the land you live in, and go to a land I'll show you, I will bless you, which means I'll empower you to prosper, I will bless you, I will make your name great, I'll make you into a great nation. Those who bless you will be blessed, those who curse you will be cursed. And I always stopped there. And I always stopped there because verse three said, and you all the nations of the earth will be blessed. Some translations say families of the earth will be blessed. And I'm like, I don't know how to believe for that. And so one day I felt like God was like, What are you doing? Like, what's wrong with verse three? I'm like, it's the whole world. He's like, Yeah, but has Microsoft not affected the whole world? Has Amazon not nearly affected the whole world? Has Coca-Cola not influenced the whole world? Like, why are you why are you eliminating yourself from that? Like, accept all of it, and then we can work out the how. And so, my life, I live a life of global impact. Okay, okay. This then the eighth one, God gives me favor. This is a scripture from Acts chapter 7, verses 9 and 10. Um, and it's talking about um um Joseph and God had given him favor and wisdom and created all these opportunities. So this the statement here is God gives me favor and wisdom that create great opportunities. Like imagine having that expectation, like great doors open for me, great you know, opportunities come my way, the favor of God is at work in my life, the wisdom of God is at work in my life, right? And then the last one is I increase by at least double in every area of my life. And if you look at Amos chapter 9, verse 15, it talks about how how fast and furious the harvest will be coming in. And I'm like, yeah, like why can't I believe for a life where multiplication is my portion as opposed to addition, right? And so I want you to think about what happens when you declare these over your life every day. One is, well, when you think about life and death is in the power of the tongue, you're attracting life to your life. You are changing the way you think about things. The more time you spend doing this, especially if you're in you're you're leveraging your imagination as well, the more time you spend doing this, the more time, the more your mind changes, the more this becomes your expectation, the more you believe it. And it's the word of God, right? So this is the idea. Um, when if you look in the show notes in the description, you will see the declarations there. I want you to grab it for yourself and I want you to make a commitment. You it could be 30 days, 90 days, it could be the rest of your life. We've been doing this for so long, and we just do it. That's what we do, right? Um, now, so if you do this though, what ends up happening is it will radically change your life. So I want to invite you to do this. I want you to take this video. If you're listening on the podcast, I want you to take the podcast, share it with the people in your world, tell them you absolutely have to listen to this, and this will radically change your life because this is what can be your reality. These statements you make can become your subconscious thinking. And once they do, it will change the way you think about yourself, the way you think about your situations, the way you think about your future, the way you show up. And once these things change, everything else will change as well. If this has helped you in any way, I would love for you to join the movement and share this episode with your friends, family, and the Christians in your world. By doing this simple thing, you could be changing the trajectory of someone's lives, their family, and their community. That makes you a world changer and they will love you forever.
