Hi dogs, welcome to the Unchanny Podcast, where it's all about helping amazing physicians just like you embrace entrepreneurship so you can have the freedom to live life and practice medicine on your terms. I'm your host, Dr. Imna. Well, welcome, my friend. I am so glad that you're listening, you're watching. And I came on, you know, I just hit the mic. This was an unscheduled recording, if you will, because I've been thinking a lot about what has been going on in the physician community. And I find it so upsetting. And so that's why I'm here. I'm like, I almost want to shake every physician and every, you know, like the entire physician community and say, what happened to you? What happened to you? I am looking at some of the most brilliant, most experienced, most connected, you know, people with the largest capacity that are essentially crippled, like crippled, whether that's working a job and you know, under the thumb of administration, and we've thrown away our goals, we've thrown away our dreams, we've thrown away, you know, the picture of what our careers could look like, whether you're a doctor in private practice and you've been so intimidated by the insurance companies, by the great resignation that's going on, that you have this dream for your private practice, but it doesn't exist anymore, right? You're running some other non-medical business, and you know, everybody has convinced you that, you know, like you're you're kind of sort of doing the entrepreneurship thing because really you're not an entrepreneur, you're a physician, and you can't build a really big business, you can't build a really innovative business, you can't lead big teams, you can't do all of that. But come on, I cannot figure out how we have, as a community, you have some of the greatest people in one community, and we have been convinced that we can't. We are so in tune with what we can't do, what is not possible for us, how we're stuck, how we have this lid, how we don't have any more autonomy, how everything is working against us, how this is an absolute mistake. Yeah. I don't know how that happened. I can't say it's a plan, like it's somebody's intentional plan, but if it were, it is genius because I cannot figure out how somebody could pull that off. What happened? I want you to go back to when you went into medical school. I want to remind you of who you are. Okay. When it was time for you to go into medical school, there, I mean, like just the fact that you're a doctor, there's some things I can tell about you. I can tell that you're an impossibility thinker because for most of you, it was an impossible dream. Many of you were first, right? Either first in your family, first African-American female to do something, first female to do something, first something, right? But I want you to think about a teenager deciding I am going to go to medical school and I'm going to operate our hearts. I am going to go to medical school and I'm going to put needles in the back of newborn babies. I am going to go to medical school, I'm going to be a surgeon. Like, think about the ridiculousness of that thought. How aspirational, how big. Think about the capacity you had to have to think like that. And you did that as a teenager. You might say I wasn't a teenager. Fine, you were a young adult, but whatever. You are an impossibility thinker. Now, the current healthcare space and the current way that you know physicians are perceived or the way we show up in the marketplace may have slapped that out of you. But I am telling you, you are an impossibility thinker. So the dreams that you've had, like go get them back. The dreams you've been so scared to own, the goals you've been so scared to own, go get them back. You are an impossibility thinker. That's one thing I know about you. The other thing I know about you is that you have an incredible work ethic. Okay. And you're not afraid of it because when you said, I am going to be a doctor, I am going to be, you know, a surgeon, I'm I'm going to be a pediatrician, I'm going to be a family medicine doctor, you knew that there was hard work that would be required. And as a young person, as a teenager, you decided you were going to do that. You were going to do the work required to bring your dreams to pass to make your goal a reality. Now, on this other side, are you doing, have like, have you owned your goals and have you decided I'm going to do what it takes? Now, I don't think we're ever in our entire lives going to need to do anything as hard as our medical training. But there is hard work required, right? And like, so I are you just gonna let your dreams go to waste and never become your reality because you're not going to do the work? Right? And and think about the work. It was impossible work. Think about the hours you worked, think about the books you read, think about the size of the books you read, think, think about the capacity of the work. We're not talking about playing around with things on shelves. We're talking about human beings' lives. You weren't afraid then. What happened? How come? How come you can look your dream in the face and because of the work required, you just decide I'm gonna let that dream die? You're like, I want to build a seven-figure business. You don't want to own it because you think it's impossible, but you're an impossibility thinker. Right? Now you made the you made the decision, but you don't want to do the work. You're like, I'm not the kind of person who can do that work. Are you kidding me? You're a whole physician. You're a whole physician. Of course you can. Of course you can. If there's something else I know about you, is that you have you have the capacity to learn. You are coachable, you're teachable, you're trainable, you can learn new things. You can literally transform into a different person. Now, I don't mean at your core, I mean like as far as skill set and all of those kind of things, which is what you did as a doctor. You can do it for the, you can do it for this. Listen, when I look at the state of medicine, right? It's like, oh, you know, burnout is at an all-time high. There's a loss of autonomy, there's a financial security we don't really have anymore. There's so much dissatisfaction that most physicians will not recommend, you know, like medicine as a career for their family and their friends. You're running a private practice, you see what's happening with insurance companies. You're a coach, you've been convinced that, oh, of course, coaches, you know, you can't possibly make money doing that. You have dreams, right? Of verticals you want to be, innovation you want to bring to your practice. And like, no, you can't do that. And we just accept all these no's. Why? There's so many things that could have stopped you from being a doctor. You think about it, right? It may be that you didn't have the money, you figured it out. It may be that, you know, it was not the right time, right? Either you just got married or you just had a kid or you were pregnant or there was a crisis in your family or whatever. But you figured it out, right? You figured that out. You may have had health challenges, you figured that out. You may have faced some kind of microaggression, you could have faced racism, you could have faced, you could have faced all kinds of things. But guess what? I know you overcame every last one of them. What happened to us? Now, now we're just like, oh, and all this is happening, and we're just stuck. We are not stuck. The lid is imaginary. It's imaginary. What happened? What happened? It's time for us to go back and think about who we are and show up like those people. When I see physicians, I see people who are giants, people who are great, people who are gonna do amazing things. When I think about the physician community, I think about a community of great people who are gonna change, like change the world literally, literally. We talk about the healthcare space. Who's gonna change it? I mean, like, who is gonna change it? Who is going to rise and be the answer? We're the answer, but we're so busy thinking we're the victims. We are not. We're the answers. Like the healthcare space is literally waiting. The healthcare space is literally suffering and waiting for the leaders to arise. The relationship a doctor has with their patient, like the whole premise of healthcare is the doctor-patient relationship. Are we waiting for the patients to save it? We are the answer. We are the ones who are going to build the practices that will save it. We are the ones who are going to support the doctors who are going to save it. We are the ones who are going to learn how to build business systems so we can build that around the ideas we have for innovation, so we can bring it into the place. We are the ones who are going to lead the hospitals, we're going to lead the units, we're going to lead the initiatives, we are the ones who are going to negotiate, we are the ones that are going to speak out for what is right. We're the ones. And but we're too busy being the victims. We're too busy being the victims, and we can't do that anymore. Nobody is coming to save us. We are the answer. You listening to me, you are the answer. And everyone is waiting. We are the Calvary, but we're asleep. We're afraid, we're intimidated, we we you know, we're we're just you know, sitting in helplessness and hopelessness. Oh my goodness, no. What happened? This is not you, this is not us. This is not us. And I'm just here to say, let's wake up. We had always been impossibility thinkers. It's time to go back to who we are. We never took no for an answer. It's time to go back to who we are. We went into this because we wanted to help people, we wanted to change the world, we wanted to do all of that. Why did we stop? Fine. Am I saying there are no difficulties? Of course they are, but we have overcome difficulties before. We have. We have. So this is a time for radical ownership. We delegated all this stuff, like everybody's gonna take care of stuff, and I'm just gonna say the see the patience. We don't have the luxury of doing that anymore. Like, that's not the way, that's what created this whole problem. We're like, we don't, we don't want to deal with all that. We don't want we just don't, we just we just want to stay over here and do our little thing. That's what got us here. We delegated our ownership, we abdicated actually our ownership. It's time to take radical ownership, ownership for your career, and that may be your career in in an employed physician within the hospital system in academics. It doesn't matter for every physician. It doesn't matter whether you're academic, you're you're you're employed in, you know, like in a private practice, or you're working a business, you build a private practice, or you're a coach, or you're this. It doesn't matter. It is time for us to own, to own radical ownership of our careers, of our businesses. It's time to go find those goals wherever we left them and take them and own them. Do the work required to make it a reality. Listen, we are in the middle, like this is a transition period, it's not always going to be like this. But we have an opportunity. You're listening, you have an opportunity to be one of the pioneers, to be a visionary, to be a trailblazer, to be an example of what is possible. Because once we have enough examples, this whole mess crumbles. Okay, the healthcare space, the physician community is crying out for example. Will you be an example of what is possible? Will you be an example of possible? Are you going to practice radical ownership? Are you going to take your goals? Like you will we stop living day to day, like what will be will be, and it's so unfortunate. What is happening? Oh my goodness, we're not victims. Radical ownership. Radical ownership. I am going to, the dream I had, I'm going to make it a reality. This business, when I went into it, I had a dream, I'm going to make it a reality. I'm going to own my voice. I'm going to change the world. I'm going to do like hello, if anybody's going to do it, it's us. Nobody's coming. Nobody's coming. Nobody is coming. Now in the entre MD world, we talk about entrepreneurship being the vehicle. Right? Why is it the vehicle? Because it's about radical ownership. You did over a decade of training and you spent multiple six figures to acquire said training. How do you then delegate, abdicate the return on your investment? How do you do that? Your career, your business is yours, and you decide the outcome. Nobody can actually decide that for you. You say, no, but actually, what happened is admin. That's the same way. Somebody told you you couldn't be a doctor, somebody didn't like you when you're in medical school, but you're here. You navigated that. We're gonna navigate this too. Entrepreneurship, the vehicle, which means if you're employed, people say, I don't have a business. Let me tell you something. Every physician has a business. Your business is your brand. Dr. U Incorporated is the first business, and that is a business that every physician has. Who's gonna negotiate for you? Nobody. You're the CEO of your brand. If you don't negotiate for you, then you take what you get. Who's gonna put your voice out there? Nobody's gonna do it. You're gonna do that. Who's gonna build your reputation? Who's gonna build out your personal brand? Nobody is going to do that. You are going to do that. You have a private practice. Who's gonna set the goal and drive it past all the challenges that we're facing to make sure that it thrives? You are going to do that. Nobody's gonna do that. Nobody's gonna do that. Who is going to build a business that doesn't become a trap, another place for burnout, but it is a place where you are serving a lot and earning a lot and you're creating the financial and time freedom so you can live life and practice medicine on your terms. You're going to do that. Nobody's going to do that. It's time for radical ownership. It's time for you to say enough is enough. And I have one life, and this is not the rehearsal, and I invested too much to not be able to have the impact that I chose to have when I started out and to not create the financial freedom that I deserve. Nobody is going to do that. And it doesn't matter if this is the first time you're hearing of the concept of, you know, having a business. It doesn't matter if you're doing multiple seven figures in business. I am telling you, whatever that picture is in front of you that you've given up on because of the hardship in the healthcare space right now, I am telling you, this is the time to take that goal, own that goal, decide to do the work, decide to change, and make it a reality. There are thousands of physicians waiting on your example. If you choose, if you choose to be part of the Calvary, they're waiting. They're waiting. So entrepreneurship. It's time to embrace it. The air of I'm a one-trick pony, I'm kind of an entrepreneur, or you play small, or when you see other businesses doing things, you're like, we don't really do that. We're, you know, we're medical businesses, or you're a coach and you subscribe to the lie that, oh no, I can't really do this and I can't make money doing this because, oh my goodness, it's time for radical ownership, it's time to own your goals, it's time to do the work, it's time to make it happen, it's time to stop rolling over and playing dead, it's time to stop giving excuses, it's time to stop saying, oh, I'm just gonna do it the way I've always done it. I'm gonna wish for a different result. It's time to stop all of that. It's time to stop all of that. It is time to stop all of that. Every time I look, I wish I could let people outside of the entree MD business school do a tour of the Facebook community for the entree MD business school because there we have created a sample of what can happen. In that community is an alternate reality. In that community is a place where doctors are living life and practicing medicine on that on their terms. In that community is a group of physicians who are told, oh, you can't start a business and they've started and they're crushing it. In that community is a group of people who are like, I think I'm gonna make more this year and I'm gonna double my time off. That's what that's exactly what I'm gonna be doing. In that community is a place where people are offered all these weird committee things that you do that take up hours and hours, and of course you don't get compensated for it because we don't have a budget, and they just say no, thank you. Like that's not um, that doesn't work for my business, aka my job, aka Dr. Me Incorporated, right? It's an alternate reality, and I'm here to because you know, I I you know, I've I've hosted an event for about five days at this point, and I've talked to a lot of physicians and I've heard their struggles, and I'm like, my goodness, we can't do this anymore. We can't. And so I came here to challenge you. I hope you heard it. I hope you've decided that I'm gonna be part of the change. I hope you've decided that you're right, this is not a rehearsal. I'm gonna live this one life like I mean it, like I hope that is your decision. I sincerely hope it is. And you listen to this podcast. I want you to implement what you learn. If you're here and you're like, I'm, you know, I'm I'm alone as an entrepreneur, I don't know what my next steps to take are. I've built this business up to six figures, seven figures, but I've hit this plateau and I'm tired of it. Like if I could throw it away, I will. There is a place where you can learn how to build a business that creates it's it's a tool, it's an asset that you can use to help a lot of people, and you can use it to earn a lot, and you can use it to create the time and financial freedom so you can live life on your terms. You don't have to struggle and do this alone. You don't have to. You invested in medical school, and it made you this person who can run codes and replace hearts and replace knees and help newborns who are in crisis and all of that. Now, your next best thing after that is the entree and the business school that shows you how to build a business system around what you did in medical school so that you have the capacity to serve a lot and earn a lot is a place for you. You learned and transformed in medical school, you learn and transform in the entree MD business school in the best possible way. Okay? And you may be wondering, I don't know if I have the time, I don't know if I have, you know, I don't know if this is the right time, I don't know if I have the money, I don't know if it'll work for me. You thought all of those before medical school, and you didn't let it stop you. Why are you letting it stop you now? There is nothing significant that you you've done or accomplished that was just something that fell in your lap. Like, fine, you may not have all the time in the world. You can make the time. You've done it before, you can do it again. It was not the right time to go to medical school or to get married or to have a baby or to buy a house. There's nothing you've done that's been the right time for. Why are you expecting it to be the right time for the entree MD business school? You say, oh, I don't know if I can afford it. My question is, but can you afford what is going on right now? Can you afford to continue running a business that is losing money? Can you afford to go for the seventh year where your dream is not yet your reality? Can you afford that? That is way more expensive than your investment in the entree MD business school. You might be wondering, will it work for me? That is a decision. That is not a question. That I mean, there is evidence, right? The school has been there for two and a half years. We've served to over 250 physicians, their results that are all over the place. That is not a question. It is a decision. This will work for me. You decide that. I mean, like medical school, the evidence. Average acceptance rate is seven percent. You knew that. You didn't say, huh, I wonder if this will work for me. You didn't say that. You said I'm gonna be one of the seven percent. It is a decision. I am going to leverage everything that Entre MD Business School has to give, and I am going to use it to create a business that gives me that is a tool for me to serve and earn and create life on my terms. It's a decision. It is not a question. It's the same way when I started building the school, I made a decision. My decision is I am building the number one business school for physic for physician entrepreneurs, producing more six and seven-figure entrepreneurs than any other business school. That was not, can I do that? That is my decision. And I've been working on it tirelessly for two and a half years, and we have just gotten started. It's a decision, my friend. It's not a question. So listen, I'm gonna leave you with this. And I hope you get this. I hope you hear my heart because come on, man. Okay, this is what I'm gonna leave you with. As doctors, when I think about it, at the end of the day, why did we go into medicine? We wanted to help people. Okay, that's why we wanted to help that's that's why we wanted to help people. Now, with the way the healthcare space was at that time for most of us, there were some of the things that were givens. So we did not express that's what we wanted, but there were givens. So we expected that. We expected that as we help people as doctors, we'll be able to make a living, and as we help people as doctors, we would have a life. So we wanted to help people, and we expected that we would make a living and we'd have a life. We live in a healthcare space that allows you to do none of those. It dictates how you help people, many times going against what we know it's right. It's not letting you make a living, okay? It will squeeze every dollar out of you, it will squeeze all effort with no pay out of you. We're not living a life. Okay. Look at the percentage of burnout, the percentage dissatisfied. Look at that. And so you have the opportunity of building a business system around what you do so you can create your dream of helping a lot of people, making a living, and living a life. That can be your reality. It will require that you take radical ownership. And if you know, if you know, like I have to do something, something needs to give, I know I'm supposed to be in the on-tray MD business school. I'm gonna challenge you to stop procrastinating on your dreams. Okay? Go turn in an application, on traMD.com forward slash business. The goal of the application is not to keep you out, it's to make sure we're perfect fit and we can help you accomplish your goals. We are here to help you to make a decision so you can stop procrastinating your dreams, so you can start working your dreams. At the time of this recording, it is March 2023. And in the entrepreneurial business school, we made a decision. This is going to be our masterpiece year. Masterpiece. And I want to invite you like to embrace this. This is my masterpiece year. The things I've complained about, whined about, been a victim about, I am not doing that anymore. Okay, so that's what I got for you. Now, this is there are a million physicians. This is a call for a million physicians to rise up to take radical ownership because the world is waiting for us. The United States, for those of us in the US, the US is waiting for us. We are the answer. Okay, we've been looking somewhere else. We are the answer. Okay, so I want you to take this episode, I want to share it as with as many physicians as you can.
