Verity Babbs & Joséphine May Bailey. Aurelia Arts Festival

Leo Sartain Season 2 Episode 7

In this week's episode, Leo chats to Verity Babbs and Joséphine May Bailey about their latest venture, Aurelia Arts Festival.

Our chat covers their earliest experiences with art, their time at Oxford University where they met studying History of Art, the experiences they have had in the arts, both good and bad; from dealing with huge commercial galleries through to defending their degree choice at parties. Along with this we talked about the impact of Instagram on the arts network and the issues of privilege in the arts.
-
We discussed their reasons for founding Aurelia Arts Festival and what we can expect from their opening on the 1st September 2020. The festival will consist of a virtual viewing room, online artwork listing, catalogue, IGTV live interviews, studio tours, and more. They are working to give a platform to the very best emerging and underrepresented women* artists.
