Curating Conversation

Will Claridge, Roy's Art Fair

Leo Sartain Season 2 Episode 10

In this week's episode, Leo chats to contemporary artist and art fair manager Will Claridge.
-
Our chat covers his artistic education and the beautiful art he produces, along with from studying Fine Art in Falmouth to managing art fairs. We mentioned the artists that inspire him such as Gerhard Richter and Isa Genzken, among others. We discussed the role contemporary, emerging artists have to play to make a living in the current economic and artistic climate.
-
We made sure to talk about Roy's Art Fair and the fantastic work he does there as the fair manager, and how he ended up getting the role! ( Spoiler, it wasn't a glamorous start). We also had a look into his artistic process, from using film cameras right through to oil paint.

The importance of supporting your contemporaries and making the most of your situation seemed to be an ongoing theme throughout our chat, with Will's advice to emerging artists being, ' If you think other people might find it weird, do it'.
-
It was a great episode to record with lots of banter throughout, enjoy!
