The creative power of the mind stands at the center of our human experience – a power so profound that it shapes our entire perception of reality. In this eye-opening exploration of A Course in Miracles teachings, we unravel the fundamental distinction between creation and miscreation, revealing how every thought carries energetic force.

What if your thoughts aren't just passive mental activity but active creative expressions? Both creation (love) and miscreation (fear) draw from the same divine wellspring of creative energy, but lead to radically different experiences. When we direct our mind's power toward love, we naturally express patience, kindness, and peace. When misdirected toward fear, we become defensive, judgmental, and conflicted.

The breakthrough insight here isn't about controlling or suppressing thoughts, but recognizing their source and purpose. Those moments of irritation, anxiety, or judgment aren't failings – they're opportunities to witness your creative power in action and redirect it. Instead of feeling guilty about "negative" thoughts, we learn to see them as misdirected energy waiting to be returned to love through the Holy Spirit.

We explore why modern psychological approaches often fall short by attempting to reinterpret or manage mental conflict rather than heal it at its source. True healing doesn't come from analyzing why we feel fear or explaining it away through past experiences. It comes through the present-moment choice to redistribute energy from miscreation back to creation.

This teaching liberates us from both the tyranny of thought-policing and the trap of believing we're powerless over our mental states. The mind's creative power is never diminished – it's only ever misdirected. When we recognize this, we can practice the art of miracle-making: bringing every miscreative thought to the Holy Spirit for transformation.

Speaker 1:

Aloha and welcome to our ACIM. Deep dive Yay, coming to you from Ajijic, mexico. Oh, let's start with a little prayer. Thank you, thank you, thank you, mahalo gracias to everyone joining, joining in the spirit, joining with jesus, to go beyond these words, to go beyond this channeling, to see what the deep meaning is and live this in our lives, live this in our thoughts, to decide to bring all thoughts of miscreation to the truth so that we could be happy, so that we could know and live god's will for us, which is perfect happiness. Let us set aside all ego thoughts of judgment and guilt and shame and see the light behind these words and the light that's shining in each of our hearts and minds. Hooray and amen. I love you. Okay, let's get in. Let's get into it.

Speaker 1:

So last week we ended with paragraph 11, sentence 4. Okay, let me tell you where we are. For those of you that want to follow along in the text. We are in A Course in Miracles, the original handwritten notes of Helen Shushman. This is a complete and annotated edition. It was published June 2021.

Speaker 1:

And we're on page 98. We're in chapter 2, section 11, paragraph 11. And we're starting with sentence 4. We're on creation and miscreation. We're going to get into this today. This is so fun. So this sentence, paragraph 11, sentence four Energy can emanate from both creation and miscreation, and the particular ratio between them which prevails at any given point in time does determine the behavior at that time.

Speaker 1:

So this is fun, so let's break it down. Energy can emanate from both creation and miscreation. So creation is love, miscreation is fear. Both are drawing on the mind's power. The mind only has creative power, but these both are drawing on the mind's inherent creative power. So what? What this means is that even illusions, even miscreation, carry energetic force. And it's not because they're real they're never real but because the mind invents them with power. So anything the mind takes as real, it gives it power, it's giving it creative power, even though it's an illusion. So it sets it in motion with force. So Jesus is insisting here that nothing the mind makes is without effects. Even if the effects are illusory, it's like you believe them to be true, so they're super true to you. All right? So energy can emanate from both creation and miscreation Next part of the sentence and the particular ratio between them.

Speaker 1:

So at any given moment, your behavior is reflecting how much of the mind's energy is flowing toward creation versus miscreation. Your behavior is reflecting that. So if you find yourself acting out in anger or something like that, you know that you've been putting energy behind miscreation. That's all. It's not a bad thing, it's just for you to see. So the ratio is like a gauge the more energy directed toward love, the more your behavior is aligning with peace and healing. You're going to express as patient, you're going to express as kind and loving. Okay, it depends on this ratio. And the more energy is given to fear, the more destructive and defensive. This is a fun one to watch for.

Speaker 1:

In myself, I look at defensiveness. This is so great, even the simple thing. Do you need to explain yourself when someone gets a misperception about you? I've had such a fun time with that, just with perceiving that someone has a misperception about me and notice the urge to try to correct them. And just notice, can I stand back and let that correct itself? It just kind of like corrects itself on. There's a stepping back from that defensiveness.

Speaker 1:

So next part of the sentence Energy can emanate from both creation and miscreation and the particular ratio between them which prevails at a given point in time. So, while time is illusory, within the dream, the balance of how energy is directed shifts from moment to moment. There's a balance of how your energy is being corrected and it's always shifting. So this accounts for the fluctuation. You know how it's been said, like everyone's kind of bipolar. Some people are more bipolar than other people, right, but it's like sometimes I feel so loving and sometimes I feel so defensive. This is why it shifts back and forth like that.

Speaker 1:

So the fluctuation in human behavior, that's the effect of this Sometimes more loving, sometimes more fearful. Some of us can shift more than others, as you can see. But you know, what I've noticed is, over time, it just becomes more loving because you recognize that you feel better. You're noticing the contrast. You're noticing the contrast between loving thoughts and fearful thoughts. So you're choosing more loving thoughts and therefore your behavior is expressing as a more loving, less defensive, less fearful behavior.

Speaker 1:

So, last part of the sentence, and I'll take the whole thing Energy can emanate from both creation and miscreation and the particular ratio between them which prevails at a given point in time does determine the behavior at that time. So, recognizing that your behavior is always an effect of your choice I was noticing that and it's right now what we do isn't determined by circumstances in the world. They didn't make me act like that. That's a common thing, you know, or you know, the bus being late didn't make me anxious, let's say. But it's actually. It's determined by the current allocation of energy love or fear, creation or miscreation.

Speaker 1:

This is why Jesus puts such emphasis on decision right. It's not on trying to change your behavior directly. It's not going. I should be more loving, I should act more loving, let's say. That's why all this emphasis is placed on present moment choice, because everything you do comes from present moment choice. So in this teaching we're highlighting the responsibility, putting all of the responsibility for your behavior on your mind, not at the level of effect, but at the level of cause. The cause is the choice between love and fear. It's not a trying to manage your behavior at the level of effect.

Speaker 1:

Nothing we do comes from outside. It's always flowing from where we're investing our energy love or fear. So miscreation has a strong, just like creation, a strong energetic impact. Okay, it always leads to fear, pain or distortion. Remember last week we were talking about miscreation. When I miscreate, I'm in pain. When I miscreate, I'm in pain. That's the only reason I'm ever in pain because I miscreate. That's the only reason. And creation is the only true use of energy. It lets us extend love, healing, unity. That's really the true use of energy. It says other places and, of course, in miracles, your mind is blank. When you're not in creation, nothing's going on, it has no real effects, but they're very real to you, it seems very real to you. Oh, someone's outside. Okay, I'm going to open this up for her. There we go.

Speaker 1:

All right, so the ego is focusing on behavior. You should be doing better, you should be nicer, you should be kinder, all that kind of stuff. That's not going to work. Jesus is shifting our focus back to the mind's choice, the actual cause of our behavior. Aloha, everyone, thank you for joining. Okay, so we finished that sentence. Oh well, not quite, not quite. I got a few more notes here.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so if you want to change your behavior, don't try to fix the behavior, all right. So so a lot of the times, what people do when they try to change their behavior, they start hating on their behavior and they're really hard on themselves. I shouldn't act like that. I wish I wouldn't be so. Whatever it is right, but that level, that level of effect. It's never gonna work trying to change your behavior from the level of effect, because it's actually the level of cause, where you're choosing between creation and miscreation. And we're gonna go over what that looks like in a few minutes, like actually what it looks like where you're making that choice between creation and miscreation.

Speaker 1:

So when you're noticing your fear-based reactions, instead of trying to analyze your past or look to your circumstances or anything like that, ask where am I misdirecting my creative energy right now? Where am I choosing fear instead of love right now? Because there's only now, right, there's a tendency to blame it on past or to blame it on certain circumstances. Well, if my neighbor wasn't so loud then I wouldn't be so tense right now, for instance. So this is taking your own responsibility away and putting your responsibility outside of yourself. But when you put the responsibility back on the mind to choose creation over miscreation, that's when you know you actually have a choice and you can make that choice. So basically, it entails offering your miscreation to the Holy Spirit. We're going to go over what miscreation really looks like too, okay.

Speaker 1:

So redirecting that creative power, that energy, toward love, this is what naturally does transform your behavior. This is what naturally does it. So behavior is always like an out picturing of how much energy you've given to creation versus miscreation. Healing does not come by adjusting your behavior once again, but by shifting shifting your energy back to love. So I got a clarification for you guys on this.

Speaker 1:

Um, so, as, as a lot of you know, of course, in Miracles is a Jesus channeling that came through Helen Shushman. Okay, and Helen Shushman is what is it? Psychotherapist? Is that what it's called Psychotherapist? Okay, helen Shushman was a psychotherapist. And so, whoever the channel is, jesus is coming through in a different way depending on who the channel is. And so, whoever the channel is, you know, jesus is coming through in a different way depending on who the channel is. And a lot of the times, and of course in miracles, it's saying your thoughts are never neutral. Right, your thoughts are never neutral. So I've been reading this other Jesus channeling in a book called Love Without End, and this is coming through a painter, so a different kind of mind, right, and Jesus is making a clarification in that channeling where he's saying that he's been misunderstood, when he's saying it's the thought that's not neutral and he's saying it's your intention.

Speaker 1:

So this is a really good clarification. It's not that Helen got it wrong or anything, it's just that it's a little bit of a twist on it that helps us to see, and see without guilt. Right, because a lot of people start to feel guilty and even fearful about their thoughts because they're looking at these thoughts are going wow, these are all these miscreative, miscreation thoughts. There's all these fearful thoughts coming, miscreation thoughts. There's all these fearful thoughts coming.

Speaker 1:

But when it comes down to it, it's like what would you do with it though? Would you bring it to the Holy Spirit for correction, or would you try to keep it? So you know, this was something that I was guided to share with you. That intention, it's how you would direct it. Would you look on that thought and see? A lot of the times these thoughts are going unnoticed, because pain, emotional pain, physical pain becomes the smoke screen to where you don't even notice you're thinking against yourself. So then it's automatically met with an intention to keep it. And it's kept like that, okay to keep it. And it's kept like that, okay.

Speaker 1:

But when you're willing to look at these thoughts and actually use your power, your creative power, to bring it to the Holy Spirit and it talks about this in A Course in Miracles, it just puts it different. It says bring the miscreative thoughts to the Holy Spirit for correction. This is using willingness. Another word for that might be intention. It's using willingness or consent to bring these thoughts. It takes this choice, though, because without this choice, you're just naturally believing these miscreative thoughts over and over again. Okay, so in A Course in Miracles, jesus is insisting no thought is idle, and this is workbook chapter 16.

Speaker 1:

Every thought has effects, because the mind is creative. So even unintended thoughts can shape your perception. Because the unconscious mind invests every thought with energy. Because the unconscious mind invests every thought with energy, so we're becoming very aware. It's guarding our thoughts and noticing which direction they're going. Naturally, they're going toward the ego because of the way the mind's been conditioned. So that's why it takes this alertness to see what's going on.

Speaker 1:

So a fleeting thought handed over to this Holy Spirit has no lasting effect. That's why it's neutralized right away when it's handed over to the Holy Spirit. So if you keep them but if you want to keep them you want to defend your thoughts. One of them might be like aging is a fact of life. That's not a creative thought, that's an uncreative thought, it's miscreation, right, but look at how that's defended all the time, right. So that's saying I'm keeping this thought. Look around me. I see everyone aging, right, you know? Yeah, with a false eyes, right. So we're leaning toward bringing that to the Holy Spirit's judgment, which is bringing it back to creation.

Speaker 1:

So Jesus adapts his words to the receiver's framework too. So he was, you know, really firm with Helen going hey, you got to look at your thoughts, you know, and he was talking when he was talking to her. He's like you barely ever guard your thoughts. You're barely ever guarding your thoughts. You're allowing your thoughts to just run and you're believing them unconsciously. So in Love Without End he's talking about.

Speaker 1:

What really carries weight is what you intend with the thought. Are you bringing it to the Holy Spirit for correction? So when taken together, a thought has effects only as long as intention or willingness. Your true will is God's will. God wills you to see truly and have the Holy Spirit's thoughts as your own. To see truly and have the Holy Spirit's thoughts as your own. Holy Spirit only sees you as whole, holy, eternal, guiltless.

Speaker 1:

Okay. So if you hand it over, every time you hand it over, it loses power. Every time you hand over a miscreative thought, it loses power. All right. So stray thoughts aren't the problem. Intention is, or willingness is another way to say it.

Speaker 1:

So I want to share with you some thoughts, miscreative thoughts First. I'm going to share miscreative thoughts so you see what they are. What if I get sick? You can't really get sick. Sickness is a defense against the truth. So that's how you're bringing these thoughts to the truth. It's like you would just recognize oh, I wouldn't keep that thought. I can't really get sick. I could perceive sickness, but it's really a defense against the truth. Another one something bad is going to happen to me. Everything can only bless you. You decide, you know, you choose. So these are fear and worry thoughts, those two thoughts what if I get sick? Something bad is going to happen to me?

Speaker 1:

Attack and judgment. Here's some examples of attack and judgment. She's such an idiot he doesn't deserve my kindness. Look how common this kind of stuff is. It just pops up, right, it just crops up in the mind. It could just be brought to the truth though.

Speaker 1:

So judgment is misusing creative power. It's separating and condemning A person is annoying. I feel sorry for them. There's another one. Okay, here's guilt and self-attack. I'm such a failure I'll never get it right. I'm not good at such and such. I'm not good at such and such. So guilt is how we're turning the mind against ourselves. We're creating an illusion of unworthiness. These are thoughts that again be brought to the truth. Okay, here's specialness and comparison. If I just find the right partner, I'll finally be complete, or at least I'm better than them. At least we're better off than those guys over there in Gaza, for instance Another miscreative thought we're making it up. Specialness misdirects energy into fantasies. Superiority or neediness Okay, these can all be brought to the truth. Scarcity and lack there's not enough to go around. For instance, if they get what they want, I'll lose out. Scarcity thoughts project a world of competition and deprivation. We're basically changing the world here because we're changing our mind about what our mind is for Grievances and resentment.

Speaker 1:

I can't forgive what they did to me. I had that when I was a kid. What they did to me I had that when I was a kid. I held that and I noticed when I was maybe I don't know, maybe in my 30s or something I was like burning a hole in my stomach. I just I got that idea. I'll never forgive him and I just held it. And every attack is physical. It's a physical attack on yourself. That's why it burns, it twists, it ages. See, they ruined my life. That's another grievance and resentment. They did this to me.

Speaker 1:

I'll hear that sometimes, when I'm just sitting in a restaurant. I'll hear someone you know talking, you know, and I'll just extend love in that. I'll hear someone you know talking, you know, and I'll just extend love in that. I'll just see that that's a meaningless thought. However, it carries power. That's why I'll just do what I can to neutralize it by looking at it as a thought that actually does not mean anything. So grievances fuel separation. So grievances fuel separation, death and futility. We all just get old and die and nothing really matters in the end. So these are affirming the ego's attraction to death. All right, death and meaninglessness. All right, sexual fantasy and substitution. If I imagine being with them, I'll feel satisfied.

Speaker 1:

Jesus talks about, you know, sexual fantasy. It's not somewhere you want to go, because it's using bodies. It's tapping into a private illusion and it's actually reinforcing separation. He's not saying it's bad bodies. It's tapping into a private illusion and it's actually reinforcing separation. He's not saying it's bad to have sex. What he's saying is, when you let your mind go into any kind of fantasy like that where you're using a person, you're using a situation to kind of like, make yourself feel good not good for the mind. Another one good sex comes with unhealthy partners. I've heard that, hey, I've heard that. I've heard it in my own mind too. This is the misuse of a miracle impulse, giving yourself private illusions, reinforcing separation, guilt and lack.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so the key here is intention and charge. So I'm going to give you guys a little bit of a nuance. Here's another thought that could be a miscreation, but maybe not. I might lose all my money, all right. If it's with the belief that that would hurt me or deprive me or make me unsafe, that's miscreation. If it's different, like I might lose all my money with the recognition that it would not affect my reality and I'd be perfectly safe in the joy of God. It's a creative thought. See, it comes to what is underlying it. Is there fear or is there recognition? So it's the same words, but that could come with complete trust too.

Speaker 1:

Right, every thought is either creation or miscreation. There's nothing in between. There's no neutral when it comes to this, because of the way you're intending it. So the surface wording, it isn't what's determining it. It's the intention behind it. Fear is what bends the energy toward miscreation. Any thoughts rooted in fear, judgment, guilt, lack they matter only because they show you where your creative power has been misdirected. Once you hand them over, the same power is restored to love. That's why you don't need to be afraid of your thoughts and that's the reason people don't look at the thoughts because they're feeling afraid of them, because they're afraid of their own miscreation. They're afraid of their own miscreation. So it's not about suppressing anything. It's about Holy Spirit, redirect this energy toward the truth.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so here's some examples of what's not miscreation, but maybe construed as miscreation because the mind wants to control outcomes. The ego mind wants to control outcomes. The ego mind wants to control outcomes. If it rains, we'll go to the movies instead. Or if, in my case, the block maker doesn't come through with blocks, I'll return everyone's deposits. So these aren't fearful projections.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so these aren't fearful projections. They're practical acknowledgments within the dream. The energy is light and flexible. You can feel that the energy is light and flexible. If it rains, we'll go to the movies. The ego would look at that, say I don't want it to rain. So it's as if the thought if, if it rains is somehow hurting me. Right, another one if the flight is delayed, I'll take a later shuttle. If my friend doesn't show up, I'll just eat dinner alone. See, these are not miscreative thoughts. The ego will look at these a lot of the times and go. I don't want to think about anything that I don't want, because that's miscreating. The thing is we're not trying to control the illusion. Practical considerations are totally okay. This is where things get tripped up.

Speaker 1:

Also, observation If the clouds keep moving this way, it might rain this afternoon. Right, sal? I've heard you. You talk about that a lot. You know what it looks like. It's probably going to rain in a few minutes. You know that's not an ego thought. It's still a creative thought because it's light. So look at it, you know. Does it feel fearful? Are you afraid of the rain? That's different from making an observation. Neutral decisions If the shop is closed, I'll go tomorrow. You know it might not seem ideal that the shop is closed, but it's not eliciting fear, it's just a practical, neutral decision. You could say Now remember, no thought because of your intention is neutral.

Speaker 1:

It's either creation or miscreation, and what I'm pointing out here is this is creation. If she's not home, I'll leave a note. For instance, these thoughts don't carry fear. They're just natural capacity to navigate form. While we perceive that there's a world here, we're still navigating form. That's okay. See, a lot of the times, what happens when people are practicing a course in miracles, they think they can't navigate form anymore and they get anxious about the thoughts that come up and thinking that they need to control things. That's not where it's at, okay. Here's why they're not miscreations.

Speaker 1:

Miscreations arises when the energy is directed by fear, guilt or attack. So these examples I just gave, they're examples of carrying no charge, so they leave room for peace. What's happening here? This is kind of the crux of it. They leave room for peace, no matter what outcome occurs.

Speaker 1:

At one time I was getting an audit, an IRS audit, right and I got the sense that I was going to get in trouble. And you know, worst case scenario, I was going to go to jail, right, and immediately the spirit came in and goes if you find yourself in jail, you're going to have a kick-ass time in there. See, that's what I mean. It's like it's leaving room for peace, no matter what occurs, right? So it's not like it's bad to think on these apparent outcomes that you think that you don't like. Once they're brought into consciousness, immediately let the Holy Spirit interpret them as perfect for you. There's no outcome that isn't perfect for you. That's what allows peace, no matter what Peace, no matter what the outcome is.

Speaker 1:

So the mind in these cases is not trying to control, condemn or prove some form of lack by the outcome, right. It's open to just making adjustments. Your mind's just open to making adjustments to find peace, to make room for peace, no matter what anyone says, does whatever, whatever circumstance in. So a worst case scenario imagine with fear is different. Like I'll tell you, in my case I have a block maker and the block maker, if he fails to come through, I'll be humiliated and everyone will hate me. That's looking at it with fear. That's looking at it with fear, looking at it with a spirit, is if the block maker doesn't come through, I'll return everyone's deposit. No big deal, right? A contingency, imagined with calm acceptance rather than with fear. Oh, this will be horrible. It's like no worst case scenario is this and everything's fine. We just make simple adjustments, peaceful adjustments. We don't try to control anything. So not every what if?

Speaker 1:

Thought is a miscreation, and that depends on you. Would you make room for peace? The question is am I using this thought to reinforce fear or am I using it to stay open and flexible? That's what it comes down to. It's really simple. If fear is driving, it's miscreation. If trust is present, it's practical navigation of the dream, it's creation. Every thought, again, is either creation or miscreation, and the same words can fall into either category, depending on the intention behind them. Trust redirects all of it into creation. Now the kinds of thoughts that flow from love. What fun. Oh, and I made a PDF for this, so I'm going to post this with the sub stack posts. I have a PDF with these three different kinds of thoughts.

Speaker 1:

So trust and safety in God. God is my source. I cannot be deprived. Whatever comes, spirit will guide me. See how your thoughts can be just be brought to this. Whatever comes, spirit will guide me. See how your thoughts can just be brought to this. Whatever comes, spirit will guide me. I'm perfectly okay. These are affirming your reality is safe and sustained by love, blessing and extension.

Speaker 1:

Let's say it seems like someone's annoying you. Okay, may she be surrounded by peace. I see their innocence shining through. Even if you don't see it, I see their innocence shining through Creation. Thoughts are naturally extending love. It's not putting any condition or judgment. It's not like I can see their innocence shining through. If they act this way tomorrow.

Speaker 1:

Gratitude and recognition. I'm grateful for this moment. All I truly need is already given to me. Gratitude turns your attention to abundance. It dissolves all your illusions of lack, joining with your brothers in equality. We are the same in truth. His joy is my joy. Her healing is my healing.

Speaker 1:

Nothing real has been harmed. Let's say you get the perception of sickness. Nothing real has been harmed. Let's say you get the perception someone stole your car. Nothing real has been harmed. Let's say you get the perception of sickness. Nothing real has been harmed. Let's say you get the perception someone stole your car. Nothing real has been harmed.

Speaker 1:

See, only love is true here. So this isn't about pardoning sin, it's just recognizing there's no sin at all. Purpose and joy. Let this situation be used for love. I want only what brings peace to all. I want only what brings peace to all, and I don't know what that is. So I'm open whatever comes.

Speaker 1:

So these thoughts are aligning with the Holy Spirit's reinterpretation. They're letting you reinterpret everything Eternal life and freedom. Whenever aging thoughts, death thoughts come up, I'm not a body, I'm free. Only eternal life is real. Creation thoughts are never about managing outcomes. Notice, this is new age stuff that people are into trying to manage outcomes.

Speaker 1:

Creation thoughts are not about managing outcomes, notice how they are, they're open to any outcome and being at peace with every outcome. This is what allows you to just shift. You know you could just shift the way you're looking at things really fast, navigating illusions easily, with ease, because you're not resisting, right? One example one time there was going to be a dance up at the roof at Namaste and everyone was going okay, we're going to use our power of our mind to make it not rain and it poured like a mofo. You think people are feeling disappointed. Yes, see, because that's not what. That's not what it means to use a creative, your mind creatively. Using your mind creatively is, you know, like noticing the clouds. Hey, it kind of looks like it's going to rain and you adjust according to that. You're not trying to make the outcome something.

Speaker 1:

All right, I'm glad we went over all that, clarified all that. By the way, I'll tell you guys again. I got a handout about that. I made a PDF. I'm going to post it to Substack and, yeah, if anyone doesn't see it there or wants it, just let me know. I think it's really helpful because you can tune your mind into these subtle differences so you're not so confused about how to use this creation and miscreation, because it truly is a choice in every moment. Okay, let's move on now that we've covered all that. Aloha Goda, all right. So now that we've covered that, well, let's move on. Now that we've covered all that, aloha Goda, all right. So now that we've covered that, well, let's go to paragraph 11, sentence 5.

Speaker 1:

If miscreation did not engender energy in its own right, it would be unable to produce destructive behavior, which it very patently does. So let's break this down If miscreation did not engender energy in its own right. So miscreation isn't just like an empty fantasy. It draws on the mind's creative impulse. Okay, and that's why it has energetic effects. These energetic effects are what we perceive as our own behavior in the world. So this doesn't make miscreation real, but it does mean that the mind's belief in it gives it power in this dream. It has power to make us act out in the dream.

Speaker 1:

So if miscreation did not engender energy in its own right, it would be unable to produce destructive behavior. So our behavior always has a cause Destructive actions. So this is basically impatience, meanness, even apparent accidents Oops, sorry, I just slapped you for no reason. They arise from an energetic source. This is psychic energy. If miscreation had no energy behind it, fear and attack would have no expression. That means war would have no expression. It wouldn't be able to express in the world. Anger wouldn't be able to express in the world if it didn't have energy behind it. So it's a matter of recognizing all of this. Destructive behavior has energy, psychic energy, behind it. Third part of the sentence if miscreation did not engender energy in its own right, it would be unable to produce destructive behavior, which it very patently does.

Speaker 1:

So Jesus is pointing out the obvious here. He's saying destructive behavior clearly exists in the dream. Okay, so we're not pretending that we don't see destructive behavior. We see destructive behavior all the time. This is evidence that the mind's misdirected energy fuels the behavior. It's not proof of the reality. It's not proof that this is a reality. It's not a reality. It's proof that there's power to our thinking. The power of belief is the power that the mind gives to it. The power of belief is the power that the mind gives to it, and so it's powerful to make illusions. This is not saying that the illusions are true or real, but it is saying we don't want to keep doing this. We want to come back to creation.

Speaker 1:

So Jesus is emphasizing that the mind is powerful here, even when it miscreates. What it makes has effects in our dream illusion. That's why we're dreaming of people dying. We hear about it on the news or from other people, or however it gets around to us. We hear about these things. This is explaining why there's a world of pain, destruction, fear, greed, scarcity. It's the out picturing of this misdirected energy. This doesn't make it eternal, it doesn't make it true. It's actually a misuse of God's gift. It's not a separate creative force. It doesn't have the same force of creation, but it looks like it in a dream.

Speaker 1:

So here's the practical implication when you perceive destructive behavior, whether it's in yourself or others, just recognize it's fueled by the mind's misdirected energy. The solution isn't condemnation. The solution isn't condemnation, it's not trying to suppress it, it's redirection, so the same power used for fear can be handed over to the Holy Spirit. I hand it over. Whether it's my fearful energy, destructive energy or anyone else's, I hand it over to the Holy Spirit. In recognizing this is not to condemn a person as bad or wrong. It's recognizing what is the cause of that and asking it to be reinterpreted.

Speaker 1:

So this reframes how we're viewing destructive patterns. This is truly allowing us to be the light of the world when we're reframing how destructive patterns are caused. They're not proof of evil. They're not proof that anyone's broken. It's proof that the mind's creative power is being misused. That's all. When we're willing to look at it like that, we actually open the door for everyone to look at it like that. Look, no one's going to be left out of this. Everyone needs to, and at one point in time we'll see that the cause of all their behavior is their choice between love and fear. And we're opening the door for that when we refuse to see anyone as evil or broken, no matter what they seem to be expressing as, because their mind is still all powerful, just like ours, to be expressing as, because their mind is still all powerful, just like ours. So when we perceive destructive behavior, that's proving that missed creation carries energetic effects in the dream. That's it. Not evil, no one's evil, no one's bad. When we redirect this energy, return the power to their mind, return the power to your mind. When we redirect this energy, it's going to serve creation instead. So healing is in reclaiming the mind's power. We do that for ourselves, we do that for everyone else. It's very helpful. It's really the way to change the world. It really is the way to turn everything around, and we're doing it Just by joining in this. You guys, you're doing it. So thank you.

Speaker 1:

All right, if you're on Zoom or here in person, feel free to ask any questions that come to mind. You can raise your hand on Zoom, you can type me a question. You can go on the Q&A. Also on Substack, I'm watching you. Go ahead and just type something in there if you have any questions or you want to add anything.

Speaker 1:

Moving on, we're going to paragraph 12, sentence 1. Everything that you make has energy because, like the creations of God, it comes from energy and is endowed by its maker with the power to make. So everything that you make has energy. That means the mind is never powerless, even in its illusions. Even though they're unreal, it's carrying energetic effects in the dream, every thought, every fantasy, every projection, every belief generates some form of experience, because the mind's investing power in everything. It's either miscreation or creation. The mind's always investing power into it. So everything that you make has energy Because, like the creations of God, it comes from energy. God's creations flow from pure divine energy Love itself. Remember, god is the cause, we are the effect. That's in truth. God is the cause, we are the effect. That's in truth. God's the cause. We are the perfect extensions. That's in truth.

Speaker 1:

In the illusion we get something different. Our thoughts are the cause. The way we would direct our thoughts are the cause, and then the perception is the effect. All right, so that's why, if you miscreate, you're in pain. The ego's miscreations are also drawing on the same creative impulse, that creative impulse where God's creation flow from divine energy love itself. The ego's miscreations are actually drawing on that. That's why everything comes from love. It cannot come from another source. It's just distorted. It's being distorted, so it's misdirected. So this explains why your illusions seem to have such an impact. They seem so real. They're fueled by the same stream of creative energy, even though they're bent toward unreality.

Speaker 1:

The next part of the sentence everything that you make has energy because, like the creations of God, it comes from energy and is endowed by its maker with the power to make. So the son of God, which you are okay, there's one son, we're all the one son. Son of God has been given the gift of creation and that power is never lost. We always have the gift of creation. Even when it's misused, it remains active. Of creation. Even when it's misused, it remains active. So our illusions are also endowed with this borrowed creative force. It's not eternal, but it's effective enough to generate fearful experiences within our dream, and we believe those experiences to be true. And we believe those experiences to be true. So this energy, this creative energy and the power to make, can be used rightly, or it can be misused. That's what's going on. Either way, the mind's activity has effects, because the sun can't uncreate the creative power that's been inherited.

Speaker 1:

Now, a lot of what's going on is this idea that our mind isn't that powerful. Even in psychology it's like yeah, it's okay, it's just a random thought. It's very powerful. It's always making illusions. What differs is the content. Creations are eternal and real.

Speaker 1:

Miscreations are temporary and illusory. So, practically the way you want to look at this is recognizing that the way you direct your thoughts does have effects. None of it is idle. Even your illusions, when they're believed in, they shape your experience of the dream. This is why A Course in Miracles is emphasizing mind training, redirecting creative power from miscreation to creation all the time. We can do this all day long. And it talks about in A Course in Miracles. If you're not making miracles all day long, something has gone wrong and basically you're making that miracle is that redirection. One way A Course in Miracles describes what is a miracle. It establishes in your mind that you dream a dream and none of its content is true. That's bringing your uncreative thoughts to creation.

Speaker 1:

So the healing shift comes from when we stop fearing the mind's power. There's a built-in fear of our mind's power so that we don't offer it to the Holy Spirit. The mind's always creating with power and God's creations are eternal. Miscreations are just delusions, but still energetic. So healing is not in denying power to our mind but offering back to love. So paragraph 12, sentence 2.

Speaker 1:

Miscreation is still a genuine creative act in terms of the underlying impulse, but not in terms of the content of what is made. Miscreation is still a genuine creative act. So the act itself, the movement of the mind that's creative because it arises from the God-given power to create. Remember, everything comes from love, even when it's directed toward illusion. The impulse is rooted in a divine gift. This is really misuse of a divine gift. So miscreation is still a genuine creative act in terms of the underlying impulse, the impulse to extend, to make, to project. This is genuine because the power behind it is totally real. What the ego can't do, but the ego tries to do, is diminish the impulse. All the ego can do is misdirect it toward miscreation. So miscreation is still a genuine creative act in terms of the underlying impulse, but not in terms of the content of what is made.

Speaker 1:

So here's the distinction the impulse itself is real, but the content, the miscreation, totally unreal. This is not true. So illusions fear separation, guilt. They have no reality in God and no existence. Their effects of misuse, they're never the truth. It doesn't mean you need to be afraid of anything that is occurring in the field. Whatever's occurring in the field, look at it as helpful. When you do that, you're in creativity. You notice that you just look at it as this is helpful. Whatever this person is saying is helpful. Whatever seems to be happening. It's raining, that's helpful. I'm getting wet right now, it's helpful. Right Going to the dentist, it's helpful. Whatever it seems to be.

Speaker 1:

So the consistent teaching in A Course in Miracles is that the power of the mind is real, but what the ego uses it for is unreal. So creation is eternal content. Truth, love is eternal content. Truth, love, miscreation unreal content, fear, separation, but projected with the same creative drive. It all comes from creativity, it all comes from love. The difference isn't the force. The difference is not in the force behind the act. The force is the same. The power is the same. It's whether the content aligns with God or illusion. The content is the way the thought is being directed. So if it's a miscreative thought and it's brought to creation, it's neutralized right there and your mind shifts toward creation. So everything comes from love and then it has a certain content. It's either love or fear and then you decide, you make the decision whether you would keep a fearful thought as if it's a reality. Right, I love you. Thank you.

Speaker 1:

So, practically, the implication of this for toward healing Is that when we fear, when we feel fear, when we feel guilt or conflict, we can recognize this is, this is my creative power. It's just being misdirected. Right now, Instead of condemning myself, what I'm going to do is reclaim this impulse. This is a creative impulse. The base of it is love. I'm going to offer it. If it feels like fear, if it feels like any kind of worry or anxiety, I am going to offer the underlying thought to the Holy Spirit, who can translate it back to love. That's me reclaiming my creative impulse.

Speaker 1:

This keeps us also from being afraid of our mind's power. For the most part, what's going on is we're afraid to look at our thoughts because we know in the unconscious mind, we know how freaking powerful it is. So there's this fear of looking at it. So there's this fear of looking at it. The problem isn't that we have this creative power. The problem is how we've been using it, because we don't realize how to use it. The power is real. The illusion is that it's not real. It's not a real power. It is a real power. Every single thought that comes to our mind is giving us an opportunity right now to look at it and recognize. Is this a thought I would keep or is it a thought I would hand over to the spirit? It takes a certain level of awareness and alertness and see, when you just offer a little bit of willingness here and there, this willingness grows. So you just start wherever you just offer a little bit of willingness here and there, this willingness grows. So you just start wherever you are with a little bit of willingness to see it grows and grows until you're doing it all the time. Healing means just redirecting this impulse toward the truth over and over again.

Speaker 1:

All right, paragraph 12, sentence 3. This does not deprive what is made of its own creative power. Now, when I'm doing these sentences, these are Jesus's words as they came through hell and cheshire. So this is what Jesus is saying right here. This does not deprive what is made of its own creative power. So, breaking this down, this does not deprive.

Speaker 1:

Even though miscreation's content is not real, the act of making still carries the power of the mind behind it. Illusions can't be stripped of their energy the energy we've invested in them, until we withdraw the belief. So this does not deprive what is made. What is made refers to the products of miscreation, illusions of fear. Fear is a product of miscreation. So is guilt. So is a sense of fear. Fear is a product of miscreation. So is guilt. So is the sense of separation. Everything about the ego's world is a product of miscreation competition, war, conflict. These are made, they're not created, because they're temporary and they're unreal in eternity. That's why Jesus is saying what is made, this does not deprive what is made.

Speaker 1:

Okay, the last sentence we were on. Miscreation is still a genuine creative act in terms of the underlying impulse, but not in terms of the content of what is made. So he's saying this does not deprive what is made of its own creative power. So once the mind invested its power into illusion, it takes on the appearance of force in a dream. This will explain why illusions seem to hurt, scare us, bind us, because they carry energy we gave them. But that power, their power, isn't inherent, it's actually borrowed. That's why even things in the illusion can be changed, even the appearance of, let's say, cancer. Right, you gave it an effect, you gave it power. That doesn't mean it can't be changed. So nothing the mind makes is powerless because we gave it power. All right. So even illusions can appear really potent because they reflect the mind's strength. It's like I'm putting this out, I'm holding out this body. For instance, it seems to be on a trajectory between birth and death that could change, it could dissolve. Illusions are not real power, they're just distortions. Their seeming effects are only going to last as long as we continue to believe in them. So they can seem to enslave us. Right, it seems like people are in these bodies and that these bodies are subject to time, but still, their effects are only going to last as long as we continue to believe in them.

Speaker 1:

A course in miracles is training our mind to stop believing in illusions. Jesus is insisting that illusions can seem to enslave us, but that their power is nothing more than our own misapplied creative energy. And we're learning how to apply that properly here. So when a fearful thought or destructive thought pattern seems overwhelming, it helps us to remember this only has the power we lent to it. Overwhelming, it helps us to remember this only has the power we lent to it. By withdrawing belief from it and handing it over to the Holy Spirit, we're reclaiming the energy and we can feel that in our body's energy field when we redirect it toward love. We could feel that the shift instantly, this shift instantly begins to undo the illusion, because the power never really belonged to the illusion, it belonged to the mind that projected the illusion, they only seem.

Speaker 1:

These illusions only seem powerful because the mind is endowing them with energy. They don't have any real power of their own. Yeah, thank you for joining. I love you. Okay, sentence 12. No, sentence 4 of paragraph 12. It does, however, guarantee that the power will be misused or used fearfully. So it does.

Speaker 1:

Refers back to miscreation being invented with the mind's creative power. It's saying it does. The miscreation invested with mind's creative power, it's saying it does the miscreation invested with mind's creative power is guaranteeing that it'll be misused or used fearfully. So, though these illusions are not real, they can never be real the fact that they're endowed with energy means something predictable is going to follow Guarantee that the power will be misused.

Speaker 1:

When the mind directs power towards illusion, misuse is inevitable. That's how powerful our mind is. When we direct it toward illusion, like, if we go, that person doesn't deserve love, for instance, misuse is inevitable. That person doesn't deserve love, for instance, misuse is inevitable. That's because the energy was meant to extend love and then it's bent towards separation. So that's going to affect our behavior. So miscreation can never serve the truth. It's always distorting. It comes from a distorted premise. That's why it's as if we're not as God created us. Now we're something that could be fearful, so it does, however, guarantee that the power will be misused or used fearfully. So fear is the source and expression of misused power. The source and expression of misused power. So it's like everything comes from love, but then we distort it and then that becomes an illusory source and then it makes an expression, and that's misusing the power.

Speaker 1:

When the mind chooses against love that's what we have the power to do in a dream chooses against love, the energy of that choice manifests as fear, attack, guilt, defense. We feel upset. That's the first manifestation. First manifestation of thought is in the body's energy field. You can feel it. That's a really good gauge for us. As soon as we feel any kind of upset, any kind of worry, anything like that, we've miscreated, we've thought something against love.

Speaker 1:

Fear is not a passive state, it's active. It's a result of misdirected creative energy. So the Son of God has given this power. That's not alterable. The ego can't cancel our creative power, but the ego can induce us to misapply it. That's what it is. It's misapplication of our creative impulse. It all starts with the miracle impulse, love, and then it gets misapplied. So when you know you're miscreating, because it always, always, always produces fear. Again, body's energy field Notice. Am I feeling joyful? Am I feeling alive? Am I feeling happy or am I feeling shut down?

Speaker 1:

Right, we're always working on fascia, as we're doing block therapy around here. If you guys want to look it up, it's blocktherapycom. We're always working on fascia and that's an effect. We're holding the body out in space right now, and how much our body is contracted right now has to do with this balance between love and fear. Really, it seems like we're using a block to loosen up the fascia, but really what we're doing is we're tuning our mind into how we're projecting right and as the release mentally takes place, we see the effects in the form. We become more relaxed, we become more released, things seem to go back into alignment.

Speaker 1:

Right, the body is always a reflection of the balance of our choice between love and fear, and it's always right now. Isn't that fun? So it's kind of like you're doing mind training, you know, and that's why I tell people, if you look at it like this, you know you don't take it so physical, but you look at it like this, when you're bringing up these pains from this twisting, basically it's like the fascia keeps on twisting and choking us out, because it's symbolic of a mind that's wrapping around these thoughts out of habit. But it's really just right now where we could actually be released of it all, right now, through great willingness. And the way we get to this great willingness is a little bit of willingness over time, right, so we can use our mind for being released of tension over and over and over again, and that's why it works.

Speaker 1:

So miscreation is always producing fear. It's rooted in the belief in separation and you can just sense it right here Pain whatever, belief in separation. And you can just sense it right here pain whatever. This is why the world, which is a collective miscreation, the way, of course, in miracles says it is. It's a collective miscreation of the sonship, because there's one son uh, you know the way this wording goes one son of God, and the way it looks at all of the people is we're at the sonship. It's like there's one son of God, kind of like scattered out. Okay, so the world, it's a collective miscreation of the sonship. The world is saturated with fear and conflict.

Speaker 1:

So it just takes, really just takes one of us holy, holy, willing to see past the illusion, because it is an illusion. And when the veil is lifted from our sight, we see that it is an illusion because everyone is still here and no one's suffering. The veil is just lifted. You don't really leave anyone Like. Everyone's still here, everyone's in creation, no one's suffering, no one's miscreating.

Speaker 1:

So whenever you feel fear, recognize that it's evidence of misdirected energy. You're not bad, you're not wrong, that's. This is a big, you know ego defense that you like somehow you're bad. Okay, it's not. It's not evidence of weakness, it's not evidence of failure, it's not evidence of truth. All it's evidence of is misdirected, created creative energy, which we have a choice about.

Speaker 1:

So this is reframing fear. Instead of being something to fight or suppress, it's a signal. The mind's power just needs redirection. It's a simple choice. So the Holy Spirit is not trying to abolish the power of the mind. The Holy Spirit is here to restore the power to love. The Holy Spirit is again an illusion. The Holy Spirit is given us because we made ego as an illusion. It's a counterpart to that. The Holy Spirit is showing us that fear is only misuse. It's only, and fear that we perceive in the world is only an effect of misuse. It is not reality. We have a choice to make here. So the mind's power is never lost, but if it's given to the ego, it's guaranteed to be misused, it's guaranteed to have fearful effects. Pain, suffering, conflict, war, miscreation always results in fear. Death is another one of those Sickness. Healing is the redirection of the power back to love. Yay, thank you for joining, I love you. Okay, all right, where are we now? Paragraph 13, I think yes, paragraph 13,. Sentence one To deny this is merely the previously mentioned fallacy of depreciation.

Speaker 1:

So to deny this, this? What they're saying is this this is the fact that miscreation carries energetic effects. To deny that miscreation carries energetic effect. Look, this is what people do all the time. This is so common. Just saying, well, death and taxes is a fact of life, and thinking that has no power to make anything. See, it's a common thing. People believe that it's a common thing. People believe that. They say, for instance I heard this a couple times yesterday my bunions are hereditary. And think that has no power to create anything. It's making effects. It's making effects, it's making illusions. True, see, it's not a matter of making anyone wrong or anything bad, it's just noticing, is true, see, it's not a matter of making anyone wrong or anything bad. It's just noticing. And for me, I hear stuff all day long and I don't go around correcting people. I have a good ass time with people. The Holy Spirit corrects people. I don't do that. The Holy Spirit knows how to do it, very gently, whenever people are ready to see it. But I'm just noticing that that's a miscreative thought. It doesn't mean anything, that's all. I'm just noticing it. See, so what the mind is doing is denying that these thoughts have energetic effects. They absolutely do. Our mind is totally powerful. They have energetic effects. When you say something's hereditary, that's denying that you are making it up right now. It's saying that something from the past gave it power. Do I hear myself doing this stuff? Yes, from time to time I do the same thing with my own self. I hear it come out of my mouth. I notice it come out of my mouth, that's it. By the time it came out of my mouth, I didn't recognize that. A whole shitload of time just going on in my mind. Basically, again, I'm not making myself wrong. If I was making myself wrong, you know what I would be doing. I'd be avoiding seeing it because then I'd be making myself fearful about it right. I'm not making other people wrong. I'm not looking at people and going, oh they're unaware or something like that. No, they're my mind. I'm not doing that. I'm looking at it as what can I forgive around here? What illusions can I forgive around here? This is, this is what my mind is actually for. This is a. This is how this is a. The only creative power I retained while dreaming the ability to do this. This is making miracles all day long. So this, the fact that miscreation carries energetic effects because the mind has endowed it with power, that's what this means. So he's saying to deny this, denying it would mean claiming illusions are completely powerless within the dream. They have all kinds of power in the dream because we gave them power. Powerless within the dream. They have all kinds of power in the dream because we gave them power. So to deny this is merely the previously mentioned fallacy. So Jesus already warned about the fallacy of depreciation. That's what he's talking about.

Speaker 1:

The fallacy of depreciation, the belief that the mind can diminish its own strength. It can't do that. We never lose our creative power. This fallacy is the ego's way of saying you're weak, powerless and subject to outside forces, for instance hereditary Heredity. All right, that's an outside force. So to deny this is merely the previously mentioned fallacy of depreciation. So depreciation means undervaluing or belittling our creative power. This is the power God gave us. That's what depreciation is Okay.

Speaker 1:

Even miscreation proves proving the mind's power, because without that power, fear and attack couldn't even seem to manifest at all. We wouldn't get that perception at all unless we had this power. So to deny this is merely the previously mentioned fallacy of depreciation. So this perspective is that the mind is always powerful. We cannot strip our mind of God's gift of creativity. We're not allowed to do that. That's one thing we cannot do. We can choose to pretend that we don't have it, but it's never gone. So even though illusions don't have reality, they seem to have effects because the mind invested them with power. Denying this makes us vulnerable to the ego's lie that we're victims Whenever we believe that we're victims of the world, circumstance or anyone else is a victim.

Speaker 1:

I was talking to the sweetest lady yesterday and she asked me where I was going. I said I'm going to Sedona. And she goes oh, that's in the USA. Well, you'll be okay because your skin isn't that dark. I'm like, oh really. And then she goes well. Your skin is actually a little bit dark, but not too dark.

Speaker 1:

White power, apparently. That is one of those things. That's one of those things you know I like to joke around like I like to joke around about that kind of stuff. You know. Like, I'll just tell them. Just tell them, you know, that's your white privilege, or something like that. You know, because we're making this shit up, it's funny, it's actually funny. Like you know, we don't have to take these things as true. We don't have to keep on propelling them like that. But you know, they seem to have effects.

Speaker 1:

We're victims of something, someone else. They're a victim of their skin color, because of their skin color. That's why they're being treated like that. No, no, no, no, no. All effects come from the mind. Take it back. Take it back. This is a lie in the world. That's being told. It's always being told this lie. It's been going on for a long time. Some way or another, your skin color is doing something. Take it back to the mind's power. You don't have to make yourself a victim of anything, right? When you take it back to your mind's power, you'll start seeing things differently.

Speaker 1:

I have a friend who did that. She gave a really good example. I was maybe less than 21 years old. I had a friend. She was apparently black, she was apparently in her 40s, maybe she had a daughter who was my age and the woman was hilarious. We're in a bar together and there was a man in the bar who was apparently a racist. He apparently didn't like black people. That woman changed the whole vibe because she just refused to believe in it. She just kept on being herself and she refused to believe in it. And that man I saw him change right in front of my eyes. She just refused to believe in anything like that. She just kept on relating with him like he wasn't a racist. She just kept on looking right past that. And you know, I saw that like as a young chick. I go, wow, that just wasn't even real. She just poof, that just went away, right. I've seen that with myself. It seems like someone is looking down on me because I'm a woman Poof. The whole situation changes because I'm refusing to buy into that. I'm a victim of the world. That it's not coming from myself. You know, sometimes I've perceived myself and other people doing that when they don't even know.

Speaker 1:

A Course in Miracles. We just all automatically have this in us to know this power, to recognize this power. We won't buy into being a victim. Thank you, thomas. I love you. Thank you for joining. I see you when you write to me.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so A Course in Miracles is, and Jesus, through A Course in Miracles, is refusing to let us play small. Okay, looking at our form and pretending like nope, that's playing small. We're responsible for all miscreation. Only miscreation is making effects. There's total equality because there's one son of God. No matter what you perceive, it's total equality.

Speaker 1:

So denying this is what makes us vulnerable. Denying this is what makes us perceive ourselves as victims and not as all powerful mind. Okay, because if miscreations had no seeming force, we wouldn't even take responsibility for how we use our power. And this is what's showing us when we, when these miscreations seem to have force, we're automatically, because the call for God and the call for knowing our power is so strong. We're automatically being guided there. It doesn't matter what our circumstance is. No one's in a worse circumstance than another, because all circumstance is maximally beneficial for everyone involved. It's always maximally beneficial. Don't look at anyone else as a victim and you'll still be able to make the choice for truth. Don't minimize or bypass fear by pretending illusions do nothing. That's the depreciation error. Jesus is calling that the depreciation error depreciating the power of our mind. We're making it Okay Instead.

Speaker 1:

Noticing fear is evidence. This is evidence Like, say, someone's being racist toward you in your dream, right? This is evidence of my mind's creative power being misapplied right now. That way, we could extend love instead of fear, instead of project fear. I'm afraid of you because you're a racist, for instance, right. I'm afraid of you because you're a racist, for instance, right, one of my friends. Uh, you know it's. It's hard to tell if he's joking or not, but I always look at it like he's joking. You know he really likes me. He goes I'm gonna kidnap you, I'm gonna keep you in my closet and I'm like no, you're not. You know, it's like you can look at these things any way you want, like if you look at it and you become fearful, right, oh my god, does he really mean he's gonna do? It's like you're generating this fearful energy and we're making dreams. So we find ourselves. You know, it's like we find ourselves in these situations because we make these dreams.

Speaker 1:

It's like one of my favorite A Course in Miracles lessons is. I trust my brothers, who are one with me. One of my friends goes how can you relate with that guy? He has such a strong sexual energy. He just comes up to me and he's like, ooh, he just picks me up and he's like, ooh, and he holds me. My friend's like, oh, my goodness. My friends like, oh, my goodness, that's just such a strong. Oh my gosh, how do you? And I'm like I trust my brothers, you're one with me. I'm sure he's not going to do anything to me. I don't need you know. It's like and it's like this doesn't mean that you're just.

Speaker 1:

You know, uh, it's still, you're navigating a dream, right, you're still navigating a dream, but it's like you don't have to buy into fear to navigate a dream. It's not necessary to buy into that. It's not necessary to buy into the fear that anyone can be harming you. It's like anything that anyone is reflecting to me is me right. I've shared with my friends, especially women, you know who are like what do you do with these? Like geyser pervs, you know they keep on like coming up and they're doing I'm like, I'm the perv. That's how I do it. I'm the perv. I look in their eyes and I look for the light and I recognize that the perv is coming from me and I watch them transform. That's what happens there. So healing means owning this strength and consciously giving it back to the Holy Spirit for reinterpretation. So this keeps you in a position of empowerment all the time.

Speaker 1:

I made this fear with my creative power. We perceive it a lot. We perceive that a lot, but I can choose again and I can let love use it right. I could choose again right now. So it's like, even if someone you know seems to have some intentions, like my one friend, he's pretty bummed out that I'm leaving. He's looking for ways that he can keep me here, you know, and sometimes he'll say stuff I'm like, hmm, are you going to kidnap me? You know, but just looking at it like, no, whatever fearful energy I'm not going to be feeding into that fearful energy. Navigating the dream still naturally occurs. That's not something where I'm I'm not saying I'm not tempting the ego and say I'm going to put myself in harm's way, for instance, but it's noticing that nothing that I perceive that's fearful isn't coming from me, right? So when misapplied, the power fuels illusions. When it's given to spirit, it shines as creation.

Speaker 1:

I see the innocence in people. I had an Uber driver once. He wasn't even speaking English. I was using my app, the translator app, right, and I'm in the car with him and he's motioning to me that he wants to spank my ass, right, and he's like talking this way. And he's like, and then he asked me are you afraid of me? And I'm like and this is on an app, like we don't speak the same language. I go. No, I see you. You same language. So I go. No, I see you, you're the perfect son of God. And his whole vibe just changed. It's like when you're afraid of someone, when you're afraid, you fuel an ego energy within them because their image is coming from you. So I see people shift really fast. So I see people shift really fast. Yeah, you're welcome. I love you, all right.

Speaker 1:

Oh, here's a footnote the fallacy of depreciation, footnote 141. Okay, let me go to this footnote, all right. So this is referring back to section X, which was the last section before the section we're in right now, and it says the fallacy of depreciation is the idea that destructive thoughts do not matter as long as you don't act them out. Okay, so the fallacy of depreciation, it isn't about being scared of thoughts. It's about what you intend to do with them. The error is saying that destructive thoughts don't matter as long as I don't act on them. Let's say you're getting a thought that, oh, I'd like to rape that person, for instance. Right, maybe you're like going into that thing, okay. So what Jesus is saying here is that you don't need to be afraid of that thought because it's a miscreative thought, but also don't think that it's not destructive. It's destructive Whenever you go into any kind of fantasy. That's destructive.

Speaker 1:

The truth is that every thought has a spark of creative power, so it matters, not because it can condemn you, but because it shows you where your intention is directed. I've shared before the ego is basically a murder and a perv, and for the most part, people aren't looking at these thoughts because they're afraid of them. They don't want to see them. So the choice is simple Look at the thought as unimportant and you keep it. Oh, that's not important, I'll just keep it.

Speaker 1:

And it fuels energy of fear, fuels fear in the world. Offer it to the Holy Spirit, though, and the same energy is redirected toward love. So the sense like you know my friend saying something like this. He said. He said I'm going to roll you in a ball and put you in the closet right. So immediately I hear this and I just offer it to the Holy Spirit. I'm alone with this person and he's saying this to me. Immediately I hear this thought and I offer it to the Holy Spirit and have it redirected toward love so the illusion can dissolve. So I'm not sitting there becoming fearful and being like what does he mean? Stuff like that. You know I'm not using it. I'm not becoming fearful of this person. I trust my brothers who are one with me. It's just, it's changing energy. It's always changing energy.

Speaker 1:

So thoughts themselves, you know, and of course in miracles it says no thought is neutral I'm going to just reframe this a little bit that they are themselves neutral until they're aligned with intention. So, or willingness, you could say so it's like will you will with God. The thought is an offering where you're going to do it in one way or the other. That's the thing. That's why Jesus is saying no thought is neutral, because you're going to align intention with it in one way or the other. That's why no thoughts are neutral. Okay, but it's up to you which way it goes.

Speaker 1:

So it's not the destructive thought. That's the problem. It's whether you dismiss it. If you dismiss it, that's depreciation. Or hand it over to the Holy Spirit. See, it's not like I'm repressing that thought. I'm actually noticing a sense of fear coming up in me and going oh, I'm handing this thought over to the Holy Spirit, it's coming from me, I'm handing it over to the Holy Spirit. I'm not repressing it, I'm not glossing over it. I'm actually handing it over, I'm looking on it, I'm noticing a fearful energy arising in me and I'm handing it over to the Holy Spirit right there in that moment.

Speaker 1:

So the teaching lifts fear from thoughts. We don't want to be afraid of our thoughts because their meaning depends on the purpose we give to them. Are we handing them over to the Holy Spirit or are we trying to repress them? Are we trying to make them like they don't have power? They do, they have power. So the fallacy of depreciation, depreciating the underlying power of the mind by just dismissing destructive thoughts as if they're harmless. That's not going to work.

Speaker 1:

The real question is what's my intention with this thought? What will I do with it? Will I see my brother as holy, harmless, no matter what I'm hearing? And bring that thought to the truth, instead recognizing that thought actually has power. Right, when I'm getting a sense of fear coming up in my mind, there's an underlying thought that's giving that thought power. So I'm bringing it to the Holy Spirit to reinterpret it for me, and knowing that I'm always held in safety, total safety. One friend told me, because I walk around here alone at night, apparently, and oh, you're all right, you can defend yourself and I go. It's my defenselessness that keeps me safe, not that I can defend myself, it's my defenselessness. That's actually what keeps me safe. Right, because I would bring all those kinds of fearful thoughts to the truth. All right, okay, I'm checking you guys out. I love you. Oh, thank you, thank you. Thank you, aloha. Okay, paragraph 13, sentence two Back to Freud. We're not done with Freud yet.

Speaker 1:

Although Freud made a number of fallacies of his own, he did avoid this one in connection with psychic energy. So, since Jesus is talking to psychotherapists, that's right. Right, psychotherapists, he's talking about Freud because they study Freud. So, although Freud made a number of fallacies of his own, so Jesus is acknowledging here that Freud's errors in understanding the mind, especially around sexuality, repression and the source of guilt. So Freud located intimacy and fulfillment in bodily drives, okay, rather than in the mind's capacity for union. So he was putting it in bodily drives, he was putting it in the body system, so his system was not free from distortion. But what Jesus is saying, that it did contain insights that overlap with truth, like more than others. Okay. So he's often critiquing psychology for focusing on symptoms in the past, but here he's giving credit to Freud.

Speaker 1:

So, although Freud made a number of fallacies of his own, he did avoid this one. So this one that he's talking about is the fallacy of depreciation. That means thinking destructive thoughts don't matter if they're not acted out right. So Freud was one of the one that's prominent. That actually goes these thoughts are destructive whether they're acted out or not. So he was the one amongst many who didn't know that they didn't. They didn't see it that way. He correctly saw that unexpressed thoughts and repressed energy still have effects. That's rare, right, that's rare in psychology. And this actually wasn't carried forward. What was carried forward, that was the other way of looking at it, that you could just have meaningless thoughts that have no power. So he recognized that psychic energy isn't just erased because you suppress it. It continues to influence the psyche in connection. Okay, so then we go to the rest of the sentence.

Speaker 1:

Although Freud made a number of fallacies of his own, he did avoid this one in connection with psychic energy. So Freud's notion of psychic energy aligns with A Course in Mir miracles. And then that's the teaching that all thoughts carry force because the mind is creative. That's something Freud knew, even though he misinterpreted. So this is where Freud took a turn. That Jesus is saying, you know, wasn't helpful. Freud misinterpreted the deeper source of this energy, attributing it to instincts, which has to do with the body, rather than the creative power of mind, and that's why Freud ended up bummed out. He was all bummed out because he believed that we were trapped, because he thought that it was coming from the body. He didn't realize it was coming from the creative power of mind, coming from the body. He didn't realize it was coming from the creative power of mind. But he did avoid the trap of dismissing thought as insignificant, which is what's going on now in modern psychology too. It's just dismissed as if it's insignificant, as if it doesn't carry psychic effects, as if it isn't making this world that we perceive, the collective world. So Jesus's perspective, with Freud's basic observation is that thoughts and energies left unexamined still have effects, and that's in alignment with A Course in Miracles and Jesus's perspective here.

Speaker 1:

Where Freud erred was in trying to manage the energy through analysis or by locating causes in the past. That's another thing that's still going on. Mostly spiritual people are doing that. They're trying to locate a cause in the past. The ego loves this because it keeps this cycle going. Look to your childhood, look to birthing, look to these different things.

Speaker 1:

Jesus redirects this point. He's saying psychic energy is creative power and it's misdirection, which is miscreation, must be acknowledged and then given to the Holy Spirit for redirection. It's just right now we're giving it to the Holy Spirit for redirection. This is what we've been talking about. Okay, so Freud avoided depreciation, but he remained trapped in other fallacies, namely, he's not recognizing that true healing comes through the Holy Spirit, not therapy or repression. So, practically for us, don't underestimate unexpressed thoughts. They matter, not because they condemn you it's not about condemning anything but because they shape our perception. Until they're redirected. In the moment of now, they get redirected by the Holy Spirit. I've given you some examples in my own mind how that occurs. They just get redirected.

Speaker 1:

So, like Freud observed, psychic energy doesn't disappear with repression but, unlike Freud's solution of analysis, a Course in Miracles offers a higher way releasing the energy to spirit. Okay, so this restores our confidence. Nothing needs to be hidden or managed. We don't need to hide from these thoughts. Like I love to say, the ego is a murderer and a perv. These are the kinds of thoughts that occur to us. We don't need to be guilty or condemned about this, even destructive thoughts. They're simply misdirected energy waiting to be healed. Thoughts, they're simply misdirected energy waiting to be healed. So, despite as many errors, freud saw that thoughts and psychic energy can't be dismissed. He avoided the fallacy of depreciation that's, making our thoughts as if they don't matter. A Course in Miracles agrees, but takes it further. True healing comes not by analyzing our thoughts, but by handing them to the Holy Spirit, letting them be redirected. This is the kind of redirection we need. Okay, sentence three of paragraph 13.

Speaker 1:

The later theorist denied the split energy concept, not by attempting to heal it, but by reinterpreting it instead of redistributing it. This is a rich sentence. We're going to start with the footnote for clarification, and this is let's see which footnote is this? Footnote 142, pronoun clarification. So there's three pronouns here being clarified, not by attempting to heal it it being the split, but by reinterpreting it again, it being the split instead of redistributing it, it being the energy. So let's get into that. The footnote makes this explicit and this makes our meaning the meaning here in the sentence sharper. For us, the split in the mind was not healed. It's an imaginary split, but it's a split that we believe in.

Speaker 1:

Theorists reinterpreted the idea of a split. So the split is the desire for creation and miscreation. Creation and miscreation, that's the split. So the theorists later theorists they created new theories to explain it. They didn't actually redistribute the misdirected energy back to love, which is really the only way the healing occurs. So Jesus is insisting here that the split mind cannot be healed by intellectual reinterpretation. It comes through redistribution of the energy, because this is psychic energy. So it's withdrawing the power from miscreation and bringing it over to the spirit. The way A Course in Miracles puts it a lot of times is bringing your illusions to the truth, so they can be neutralized by failing to redistribute it. Later, psychology left the conflict intact, relabeling the problem without undoing the problem. So in daily life we tend to fall into the same trap.

Speaker 1:

Reinterpreting the split looks like this it's explaining away fear or guilt with psychological theories like this is because of my childhood. Okay, that's explaining it away. That's taking away your power to have that energy redistributed, bringing it to truth. Okay, reinterpreted by the Holy Spirit. Reinterpreted by the Holy Spirit. Or this is my attachment style, that's a new one that people say, oh, your attachment style is this Like we like to analyze and diagnose our attachment style. This is my attachment style. This is the way I'm like, this. This is why I act like this. For instance, what Jesus is saying is bring it to the truth. You know, quit explaining away your fear, bring it to the truth right now. Redistributing the energy is when we actually give the fearful thought to the Holy Spirit, so we're allowing that energy to be redirected into love right now.

Speaker 1:

So later theorists did an attempt to heal the split in the mind. They reinterpreted the split conceptually, leaving that misdirected energy untouched. So Jesus is pointing out that only redistribution of energy from fear to love is what heals the mind. So healing in A Course in Miracles is where fear becomes love. It's a transformation from fear to love in your mind. So sentence four, paragraph 13.

Speaker 1:

This placed them in the illogical position of assuming that the split which their therapies were intended to heal had not occurred. So this placed these later theorists denying the split energy concept. That's in the previous sentence. The later theorists created a contradiction. The later theorists created a contradiction. Their frameworks for therapy lost coherence because they denied the condition they're trying to address. That's what they're still doing. They're denying the condition. The condition is a split between creation and miscreation in the mind and trying to address it differently, like, say, going to the childhood. This placed them in the illogical position of assuming that the split which their therapies were intended to heal. Their therapeutic methods were meant to resolve inner conflict, fear and guilt. That's what they're meant to do. Those are symptoms of the split mind. Though, by rejecting the reality that we made of this split in psychic energy between creation and miscreation, they undermine the foundation of their own work. So this placed them in the illogical position of assuming that the split with which their therapies were intended to heal had not occurred. So, in effect, they're treating something they're claiming doesn't exist, and Jesus is saying this is illogical. If there's no split, what is the therapy for, right? What are we doing this therapy for? We're depreciating the power of the mind to choose between creation and miscreation and making it about the past. So he's highlighting the futility of these therapies. This is why there's still appearance of conflict and war and sickness and death in the world. Because our therapies are not really going to the root of this. We're investing, still investing, creative energy in miscreation, even in therapy.

Speaker 1:

So true healing rests on acknowledgement that we're dealing with a split mind. We're dealing with a split between creation, one part aligned with spirit, one part misaligned with ego. That's what we're dealing with and when we're aware of that, we're actually doing therapy. This is actually psychotherapy and we're bringing it to the spirit. And of course, in miracles it says all therapy is psychotherapy. That includes block therapy. All therapy is psychotherapy.

Speaker 1:

So denying the split means denying the problem, denying the actual need for healing. That's what the mind does. This is why psychology, when it refuses the concept of split energy, becomes circular. It explains without resolving anything. So A Course in Miracles is redirecting us. It's saying Jesus is saying you must acknowledge the split in order to allow it to be healed.

Speaker 1:

You must acknowledge this. So practically, if you pretend there's no inner conflict, you cannot heal. If you pretend there's no inner conflict, you cannot heal. You know, if you just like, let this sense of worry, sense of fear, anything like that, just not be examined as in where is? Where am I making miscreation? True, you can't heal Therapies that minimize destructive thoughts as not. Important are just the, or just the unconscious? Oh, that's just the unconscious working itself out. That's falling into this trap.

Speaker 1:

Healing begins by recognizing yes, yes, the split seems real to me. If I got an upset feeling, the split seems real to me right now, then instead of analyzing it, we let the spirit real to me right now. Then, instead of analyzing it, we let the spirit redistribute the energy for us. We look at it and let the spirit redistribute it by denying the split. Later therapies became illogical, trying to heal something they simultaneously claimed didn't exist. So we're being taught now that healing begins with recognizing the apparent split and then giving it over to the Holy Spirit for true correction. This is what we want. This is what we want. Thank you, lovelies, thank you for joining. Yay, all right, okay, I got a few more minutes. Paragraph 13, sentence 5.

Speaker 1:

The result of this approach is essentially a form of hypnosis. Okay, and we'll start with the footnote, footnote 143. The implication seems to be, that patients are essentially hypnotized into believing that the basic conflict in them does not exist, though it clearly does. Okay, so this footnote is clarifying what Jesus means by hypnosis Patients being hypnotized into believing something that's not true. In other words, therapies that reinterpret instead of heal end up masking the split instead of undoing the split.

Speaker 1:

This is hypnosis, because the mind is lulled into a false suggestion. You are not conflicted, basically, if you're perceiving a body, you're conflicted. It's coming up all the time. It's coming up all the time. It's coming up all the time. Thoughts are occurring to you all the time. The basic conflict between creation and miscreation. That's what this whole chapter is about the basic conflict creation and miscreation. It's very real within the dream. To deny it not healing. It's deepening the trance of separation. That's why he's calling it hypnosis. It's actually deepening the trance of separation.

Speaker 1:

Hypnosis is symbolic of the entire world. We're hypnotized into believing the split is normal or non-existent. It's not normal when in fact it's the root of all suffering. We want to see this and undo it. Jesus calls this out so clearly. Okay, because true healing only begins when we admit yes, I do seem to be conflicted and I'm willing for it to be healed. That's my willingness that's aligned with God. If we're perceiving Bodies on a trajectory from birth to death right now, we're conflicted, our mind is conflicted. There's something to be done about this and that is the real vocation of the mind here, while we're dreaming. It's the only vocation of the mind and that's why I like to focus on this, because I know it's undoing the dream for everyone.

Speaker 1:

So, in your own practice, be aware of the temptation to soothe fear by explaining it away. Here's an example. It's fine, there's no conflict in me. A lot of the times I'm walking around and people are trying to convince me that they're enlightened. It's fucking awesome, all right, yeah Well, you know, you know you could say that enlightenment is realizing.

Speaker 1:

I'm conflicted right now because I'm perceiving bodies on a trajectory from birth to death and you're aware and you're alert and you're ready to make miracles. Right, it's fun, it's like we, but we tend to soothe ourselves into this lulling, you know, trying to make it an image, a self image, of an enlightened person, and this is just taking away this whole vocation of the mind that we need to be alert right now. See, these thoughts are occurring to us, these miscreation thoughts are occurring to us all the time. They're projecting a whole world. That's not true, right. So to be alert, to be on guard, like Jesus says, to be awake to this. We're not trying to make a spiritual self-image that everyone can worship. We actually want to see these illusions dissolve before our eyes. Don't rest until you're done with that. You'll know. When you're done with that, you're going to see beams of light here instead of bodies. Okay. Beams of light here instead of bodies Okay.

Speaker 1:

True practice is to notice the conflict and say, yes, I see the split in my mind. There it is again. There it is again. There it is again. Holy Spirit, I give this misdirected energy back to you, and you know what happens is you just feel so much more alive and instead of hoping that people will see you as enlightened, what you do is you start seeing the enlightenment in everyone else. You start seeing them as beams of light instead of them as something that's a body that you're trying to get attention from. It's a totally different thing. You start seeing God in everything. Recognizing God is in your mind, right, that's how the sight changes to Christ's sight. This is redistribution. This is not hypnosis, okay. So therapies that deny the split are a form of hypnosis Convincing patients. There's no basic conflict. That's a form of hypnosis. There is a conflict here between creation and miscreation constantly going on. But the conflict is clearly existing in the dream. Healing just requires acknowledging it and handing it over to the spirit. So all right.

Speaker 1:

One more Says we got six minutes left. I'm going for sentence six with a footnote. This is quite different from Freud's approach, which merely ended in a deadlock, footnote 144. The deadlock Freud referred to was the ongoing tension between the id, instinctual drives like ego and aggression, and the superego, internalized moral authority. So that was the conflict that Freud identified. Okay, his solution was not healing by managing conflict. Solution was not healing by managing conflict, balancing these two forces so a person could function in society. That's what he was into.

Speaker 1:

Freud essentially concluded that the best outcome a human could achieve was to become a well-adjusted neurotic. That's why he was bummed out. He was going around like that. He's like the best you can do is being a well-adjusted neurotic, because you've got these instinctual drives coming from the body and then you've got the superego, this internalized moral authority, and they're always in conflict. So Jesus is saying the basic conflict is way different.

Speaker 1:

From Jesus's standpoint. This is tragic because it accepts the split mind as permanent. What Jesus is saying? Yes, acknowledge the split mind, while we're perceiving illusion, but it's not permanent. Freud's deadlock reflects resignation. The ego and superego are at war and peace is impossible. The only cure is learning to tolerate the tension. That's how Freud looked at it.

Speaker 1:

But Jesus is rejecting this compromise entirely. He's saying healing is not about adjusting to neurosis. We're not adjusting to it, we're undoing it. We're actually undoing the split. That's why we become more and more joyful and energetic and apparently vital. Apparently, sickness doesn't seem to be a thing for us. Conflict doesn't seem to be a thing for us, and that's because we're using our mind for the true vocation that it is and that's returning all the energy to love. So this is not a hopeless case.

Speaker 1:

So, practically speaking, ego-based approaches are saying this is just the human condition. You'll always be conflicted. The best you can do is cope. That belief keeps us bound in neurosis. So when you have that belief and you see why people want to develop an enlightened self-image because they want to get out of that they want to say I'm beyond all of this stuff, even though they're still perceiving a dream, right? So we're hypnotizing ourselves into thinking conflict is the mind's nature. It's not so a course in miracles. And Jesus is offering us something radically different True healing, not management. When energy is redistributed to the spirit, the conflict dissolves. So Freud's approach ended in deadlock, the id and the superego locked in this endless struggle. His solution was adjustment, not healing, leaving humanity resigned to neurosis. You can see why the other theorists developed something else Just repressing this thing, lying about it all together because it was so unhappy. But what Jesus is giving us instead is saying this split can be healed and peace is possible now. And that's where we're ending today.

Speaker 1:

Yay, so we made it through paragraph 13 today, and when we come back in I guess it's three weeks, because I'm taking two weeks off I guess it's three weeks. When we come back in three weeks, we're going to start with paragraph 14, sentence one, and I'm so excited. Yeah, I think it's good too, caitlin, I love it. Yay, I'm so glad it's hitting deep for you. Me too, I just love it. Every time I study this, every time I look at it, I get more what would be the word Willing?
