David is an old radio "dj" (disc jockey) getting his brand of talk and humor on the airways since 1969. It’s the animals of the planet responsibility to fertilize the earth, it’s David’s to fertilize the airways. Given the nickname the General because of his last name which he had to convert daGaneral to franchise infringement. Making a reluctant transition to a completely different medium and inviting you to take the journey with him. In each episode he will be talking about life, society, music and everything in between and you might be lucky enough to get a new recipe or two. Episodes could include local guests with interviews about their lives.
After a year and a half rambling, Laren "Ren" Harris joined him, and they bring a whole new format to an ageing radio program. Ren started as David's engineer at KPRT-FM. She has vast experience in acting and is extremely witty. She brings in a fresh perspective and keeps David in line. She is a sci-fi nerd complete with customs. She has operated a bakery as well and they both love to cook!!! Each episode is designed to bring awareness, “wake you up”!

SPEAKER_03Oh yeah. And you know, I don't know. That was on the show that's airing now. You know, we you know, Ren, we we did a show, got two-thirds of the way through it. And you know, I I love modern technology, but sometimes it can screw you.
SPEAKER_07It failed us.
SPEAKER_03Yes, and it did. So we lost 45 minutes worth of show. And finally, we were so I mean I was, I know you couldn't tell, but I was upset, and I had another place that I needed to be, so we didn't get to do we had to postpone and read and so this is the makeup. We're doing the makeup we're doing the makeup on the wake up.

And in those days, uh some General Mills rep, I was in Texas on the main highway, and he stopped in the studio and said, uh, do you have rights to use that name? I said, It's my name. It's my nickname. Because you know you can't use that. But nowadays, they want that. They want that publicity.

SPEAKER_03That's okay. I you know, I I have my haters. Yeah. I have my lovers. Fortunately, my lovers out hate out easy number my haters.

SPEAKER_03Oh, thank you, Rand. Yeah, that's pretty good. Alright, listen, we're gonna give our tribute to David Bowie. I'm excited to do this. We I was excited the last time. I don't know. I I think I have the same enthusiasm, maybe a little bit more.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah. I I always have the same enthusiasm for David Bowie. And uh I think this one will be a little more streamlined since I have so much to say about him. Oh, fantastic.
SPEAKER_03Well, what are we gonna start off with?
SPEAKER_07I was gonna start off with probably his first ever hit, one that sounds still brand new, even though it was like came out in 1969. This is Space Oddity.

SPEAKER_07To me that's the sound of because you know it's about an astronaut being sucked into a black hole being sent to another dimension.
SPEAKER_03Oh no kidding.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, if you listen to the lyrics And so they were playing oh yeah, I was telling Dave during the break, um, you know, some of the TV stations around the world that were playing the moon landing, the live footage would also play music.
SPEAKER_03The original moon landing.
SPEAKER_07The original moon landing the 1960s when it was live, they would play music just to fill in the silence, and uh they would play space themed music. Um a lot of the stations played space oddity, David Bowie's song, which always confused Bowie because he was like, don't they know what this is about?
SPEAKER_03No, they didn't they had no clue. No, no, and see that was the way it was in those days. Only the young people really know knew what was being said. And then you had some of those ministers in those days that listened. That's how the devil's music came out and all that kind of stuff where they played record back. Yeah, exactly, exactly. So yeah, it was well listen, I kind of I can't let the total cat out of the bag, but we may have a surprise coming up in the next few weeks that uh uh will be well, it's exciting for both of us, and I don't want to jinx anything just yet, but um you may be hearing us more in other places. Maybe, maybe we'll we'll just we're still working on trying to get on um serious XM, but uh this is something that'll be more be quicker and it's it is more localized, but it's still in the Four Corners area.
SPEAKER_07Still in the Four Corners area, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yes. So we can definitely send our love out to all those people elsewhere, how great a place this is to live, to work, and to prosper.
SPEAKER_07But farther and wider we'll have a more powerful signal.
SPEAKER_03That's right. Oh my god, will we ever yes be unstoppable? That's right. All right, so we're giving tribute to David Bowie. I I absolutely uh uh respect this guy. I I we talked a little bit about how he passed away. He was in his 70s, right? Is that what we figured?
SPEAKER_07He was 69. 69, almost 70.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and um and you know, and I always heard that it was an overdose, but you know that it was troubled with cancer, yeah.
SPEAKER_07He had it for years and years, um, and he worked on an album uh during it all that he planned to uh release after he passed. After he passed away. And he didn't really tell anyone. So when he did finally pass away, it was a huge shock to all of us. Myself included, because by 2016 it was a big data that we can.
SPEAKER_03That's why I thought it was uh drug overdose, because it kind of shocked me as well. It came out of nowhere. Yeah, and I thought, well, maybe it's you know the like prints and uh you know, taking the those uh that stuff to so they continue to so they can perform. You know, that's how they did that. Michael Jackson, the same thing.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And uh break your heart, but well let's pull David Bowie out of that category and put him in his category of his very own.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I think it's pretty dang cool that he planned to have an album on the city.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god, are you kidding?
SPEAKER_07That is so neat. Sorry. We love you, David. So this is this next one is uh from his first album that really kind of made it big. Uh Hunky Dory, which is my favorite album.
SPEAKER_03It's a little bit more that used to be a saying, too. Yeah, I'm hunky dory today. I wonder if he started that.
SPEAKER_07You know, it could be. I got a little bit of a chance.

SPEAKER_07Okay. Thank you. I will try to make it small too. First and foremost, I want people to know that Frederick Nietzsche is, after he died, his brother-in-law got a hold of all of his manuscripts and added a lot of unsavory uh anti-Semitism to it. So when I talk about Nietzsche, I'm talking about the real Nietzsche, not the gross misunderstanding people have of it. Um David Bowie was a huge fan of Nietzsche, and he really was a fan of his concept of the Superman, how slowly throughout the generations, humanity is slowly becoming more and more intelligent and compassionate, we're getting more and more super.
SPEAKER_03As we evolve.
SPEAKER_07As we evolve. And so David Bowie kind of took that concept of like what it would feel like to be the elders to uh a new burdening generation that has all these bizarre ideas and has all these weird concepts of how the world should be, how scary that would be for the older generation, but how it's actually uh a good thing because kids are supposed to be the bringers of the new That's the way life is now.
SPEAKER_03You know, I'm I'm I get scared about the young generation. But there's hope.
SPEAKER_07There's hope, but there's always some good ones in there. And remember, the kids can be kind of dumb. They learn them.
SPEAKER_03A lot of them learn. Yeah, well, it's that's how come you're that's how come you're resilient when you're younger. That we especially like when you're uh uh a young kid, your bones are not totally developed, they're not brutal yet. So that's designed so you can fall off the bed or you can't.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, you can fall off the tree. Yes, right.
SPEAKER_03Can't fall off a tree. Uh you might crack a bone, maybe even break one, but it's resilient enough that you bounce back quickly.
SPEAKER_07You get back up.
SPEAKER_03Whereas me, if I broke a bone, if I fell down, I'd break more than just one bone, and probably, you know, it'd be a while to recover.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I'm even at 27, I'm getting to that age where if I hurt my knee, I gotta take care of it for the next couple of days.
SPEAKER_03Well, you know, I'm gonna tell you, I I'm sure part of your problem is because I had the same thing, I grew like six inches. My sophomore, but the summer between my sophomore and my junior year of high school, six inches, and my knees went to crap.

SPEAKER_03And so, and begin you're tall, you're very long-legged, most of your height is in your legs. So I'm gonna guess that that's how it's come. Your knees might be a little weaker than they probably would have been if you were a little shorter.
SPEAKER_07No, absolutely. Both my parents have knee problems too, but my mom's pretty tall. My dad's not super tall, but he does have weaker knees than I think.
SPEAKER_03Your mom's tall, yeah. And your mom's a lot of leg, too, now that I recall. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07And uh they both needed knee replacements, so really, and I gotta have a hip replacement.
SPEAKER_03What the heck?
SPEAKER_07At least we live in a time where we can do that stuff. Hey, the generations they keep getting better, we keep getting stronger.

SPEAKER_03I have only a couple times. My youngest used to watch it, yeah.
SPEAKER_07Made by the same guy who did the Simpsons Nixon because a very prominent villain in that series. Oh really? Because in the in the future they have like all of the famous people from the past in like their heads in yards. Like even though it's suspended animation. So Richard Nixon is one of those heads, and he has a big scary robot line because you know that that sounds about right for Tricky Dick.

SPEAKER_07And I never got to do that, even though I would have loved to because it was really cute.
SPEAKER_03I'm so glad we've had this time. I I learned something about you all the time. So I I don't know, Randy. You might I've got a lot of ammo that I can you can make fun of me now if you know marching bands. I would never make fun of you, but I I did, you know, I we when I was in school, we made fun of the man geeks for sure. And some of my best friends were man geeks, but still It was the dumb thing.
SPEAKER_07Well everybody makes fun of everybody, and also when we won state championships that one year as a marching band, nobody was making fun of us. Oh yeah, yeah.
