SPEAKER_07

I want to just say that. I I like the way you counted down before three too much, excuse me.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, Dave, I'm a lady. The people at home can't know that I burnt, but yes, that is what happened before we got on the mic. Yeah. I had a human reaction to my soda.

SPEAKER_07

We won't talk about other lady uh body functions. No.

SPEAKER_01

But that is something, had you not said anything, would have been unrecognized, uh uh obscure. Obscure maybe tweet.

SPEAKER_07

I'm gonna download that. Uh I'm gonna download the side.

SPEAKER_01

I'll play it whenever I make a good segment. Uh yeah, we're doing 80s obscure hits. Well hits used loosely, like there are good songs that could have been hits, but no one really heard them.

SPEAKER_07

They never made it on the charts, right? Or they didn't make the top for anything.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and didn't get on the charts. Some of them previously unreleased uh songs like B-sides, doubled double B-sides.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. Well, this was G O J's suggestion. No, George, you don't get the hundred bucks. And we'll talk more about that going forward, how you can get a hundred dollars.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. I'll okay, here's the opening final. Oh, yeah, let's do it. The people have all been waiting.

SPEAKER_06

Showers, flowers, and then, hmm. Oh, I don't know. What I do know, the one constant, Randon David on K SJE. It's the wake-up call. Grab a beverage, turn it up, sit back, and let's let them do it to it.

SPEAKER_04

So I've got to make it to the boy, just like that.

SPEAKER_01

That was John Mellencamp.

SPEAKER_07

I love me some John Mellencamp, and I'm gonna tell you right now that was obscure because I never heard that song, and I loved Mellencamp.

SPEAKER_01

I have never heard that song either. I've only ever heard his biggest hits that you hear all over the radio. But that sounds like that almost should have been a John Mellencamp classic.

SPEAKER_07

I I think so too. K SJ E, and I've got my bomb diggity, Fren Red.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, and my Baudacious Buddy Dave. Are those 80 slings? I don't know. I picked them out, uh, but I'm not from the 80s.

SPEAKER_07

You tell us, we'll be more than happy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and then send me your own personal list of 80 slings.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But we are celebrating the 80s today. This is a really fun playlist made by G OJ, George of the Jungle, our announcer. And it's doing kind of double duty. It's songs that represent the 80s, very much the music of the time. Also, like we said in the first half being obscure. Not not super well known.

SPEAKER_07

I know he sent us the list and he sent them what you thought in order that he wanted them to play. And I told him when he made the list, I said, George, just send it. And she'll play it. She's in charge. She'll be taking care of the order.

SPEAKER_01

I hope it's okay that it's out of order, George, if you're listening.

SPEAKER_07

Um try to say with kind of a theme.

SPEAKER_01

I I know, and that's well, that's what I thought was good about all the songs. You can put them in any order and they're gonna sound good. It's just, I'm very specific about the timing. The timing is everything for me, so I just switched up the timing.

SPEAKER_07

Well, here it is, April 12th, three days away from how it is.

SPEAKER_01

You better uh get get on there. I always think of that. I've said it every year. Um it's the Simpsons joke where they're at the IRS office, everybody's in line pushing and shoving, the they're doing a news report on it. Kent Brockman, the news anchor, goes up to Krusty the Clown and says, Sir, you waited until the last minute to file your taxes. Why? And Krusty goes, 'Cause I'm an idiot. All right.

SPEAKER_07

Well, typically, the people who wait the last minute are those people that have to pay. Those folks. Yeah, the folks that get money back usually are filing.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. I I waited, but that's just because I don't like doing all the paperwork. It stresses me out, man. But uh I did it. I always just do it on online. You know, one of those services.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I use that free tax. Free tax USA, I think it's called. Oh, that's a good one. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I use I use another one. We won't give them any plugs. We won't give them any plugs, but they're super easy. Uh so if you've waited until the last minute, don't delay anymore. Don't get yourself into any trouble. You don't need to be in the city.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, but 30 is no, let's see. 24 times three is what never mind. You have three days.

SPEAKER_01

You have some time.

SPEAKER_07

That's right.

SPEAKER_01

Is it 72? Three days.

SPEAKER_07

Three days.

SPEAKER_01

24, 48, 72. Yes. Okay, you have 72 hours. The clock is ticking. And so is this great playlist. I have to teach math sometimes to kids. I'm more of an English teacher, but sometimes there's no one else there to teach them math. So I gotta get kind of okay at it.

SPEAKER_07

I still count on my fingers and toes. If it's over 20, I can't. I'm in trouble.

SPEAKER_01

It just doesn't even exist to you. The concept doesn't exist. Alright. Well, I am trying to get us back into the music because this is a pretty good playlist. It's um jam-packed.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, we're gonna have David E's. We're gonna have Renlish.

SPEAKER_01

We're gonna have Renlish.

SPEAKER_07

Renlish this segment, David's next segment.

SPEAKER_01

And then, of course, end the whole show with Zen of Rens.

SPEAKER_07

Absolutely. Let's have another song. Let's just let's do some jamming.

SPEAKER_01

Let's do some jamming.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, we got a new sponsor too that uh George is gonna talk about.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yes. Stay tuned for our brand new sponsor. Until then, here's some music. Tears for fears, pale shelter.

SPEAKER_06

Music, music, music, where?

SPEAKER_02

The wake-up call exclusively on KSJE ninety-point nine one oh three three FM boy, but some bad place, but you come. What do you owe? It's a bit gun, you wanna get out of the day. Not much you gotta hold you down.

SPEAKER_04

Got a lot of stuff to take it to walk.

SPEAKER_03

Thank you for my baby dog Pooch-up, coach-da-da-da.

SPEAKER_02

This whole time I never got me to say G T G T B T I really love you with this good so-bit chip. I shouldn't stand your name.

SPEAKER_05

Not much it's gonna hold you down.

SPEAKER_04

Take you up, take you on my baby.

SPEAKER_05

I'm gonna love you. I'm gonna love you to me. I'm gonna love you. I'm in the love, love you, la.

SPEAKER_07

You know, I that was interesting um because I first thought that was blondie, but uh I could see that.

SPEAKER_01

You know, and the more I listen to later Blondie almost.

SPEAKER_07

Uh the more I listened to it, the more I realized uh and when you told me, I was like, oh yeah, that's yeah, I remember that extinct distinctly.

SPEAKER_01

That's the premier Madonna sound. Yeah, like her very early work.

SPEAKER_07

With the with the fingerless gloves and the bow look and that kind of thing.

SPEAKER_01

The boustier. And that was uh Jimmy Jimmy, if you didn't hear them say it a thousand times. It was a good song, it was a cute song.

SPEAKER_07

It was a cute song, very good.

SPEAKER_01

And I think it is pretty characteristic of the eighties, which is what this show is kind of about. Classic eighties music. And if you didn't know, what's neat about the eighties is that uh it lasted for about ten years.

SPEAKER_07

I wonder where you were going with that.

SPEAKER_01

And if you didn't know, it started some say it started in 1980, but then went all the way to 1989. So that's some fun eighties back for you.

SPEAKER_07

I think we should just go to Renlers again. I have no words. No, no, no, no words.

SPEAKER_06

It appears to be Ren's turn for her own special word. Ls and G's, I present Renlish.

SPEAKER_01

Ls and G's! And I'm having a G indeed, but that's not why we're here. Why we're here is I've got some slang, some 80s slang.

SPEAKER_07

Okay. What?

SPEAKER_01

Gia. Gia. It means uh indeed, indubitably. Indubitably, yeah, as in Gia. That definitely leopard album totally rocks, dude. Indubitably.

SPEAKER_07

I would really say indubitably.

SPEAKER_01

It's a whole lifestyle, Dave. I don't think you're about that life.

SPEAKER_07

You just don't know. No, no. I'm more of a fall kind of guy.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, fair enough. Fair enough.

SPEAKER_07

Well, listen, if you'd like if you have a show suggestion, we'll certainly take it. We've got some we've got some uh what do they call it? Not a bling, but stuff. Swag. Swag. Uh we've got some stickers coming. We're gonna have some mouse pads even.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I love a good mouse pad.

SPEAKER_07

And I got t-shirts that I'm working on too, so we'll have some stuff like that. And um so we have one listener for sure that is sending us uh a couple of different show suggestions.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, he's very creative now.

SPEAKER_07

I love Wade. We've used one of them. We're gonna he's out of Bayfield, Colorado. We're gonna use another at some point. Um so uh but he did get a hundred bucks for that. Going forward, what we're gonna do, if you send him to me, we'll send you the first one, the first time you send one, because we're gonna use Valerie's too, but we're kind of waiting on that one. Let me give it an intro for that. What song do you uh hype you up? What's your uh what do we think? Your walk up song. Send that to us.

SPEAKER_01

I like to think of it two ways. The song that plays as you walk up onto the stage, or B the song that you play to get the confidence to walk up, to do something.

SPEAKER_07

To do something, yeah, your walk-up song. So send it to us. Uh.com, all one word, all over the case.

SPEAKER_01

Um but we're gonna give her a hundred, but our other buddy when we play the show, but then our other buddy has done it twice. And so going forward, the first time, you get a hundred if we use your show, but after that we'll just send you some swag.

SPEAKER_07

Some swag.

SPEAKER_01

A good little swag bag.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, you like that even better. I dated her once.

SPEAKER_01

You did you dated swag bag? Oh my god, that would be such I'm not even joking, I think that would be a really good uh drag queen name. Swag bag? Swag bag. It would be for like a comedy queen, a woman uh you know, a queen who's mostly known for comedy, but I like it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Listen, this is K S J, and it is the W U C or It's the Wake Up Call, but we like to refer to it in the biz as W U C. The Wook. The Wook. Is that how you would pronounce it? Wook? Wook. Yeah, I guess.

SPEAKER_01

It's better than the alternative. Yeah, with my choice friend Rand. And my gnarly buddy Dave. Gnarly.

SPEAKER_07

I've always wanted to be gnarly.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Uh and we're gonna have a little segment, a little uh new commercial from a new sponsor that's G O Jorge a little bit.

SPEAKER_01

That we'll that we'll play. But uh for now we are doing a show um that G O J gave us Obscure 80s, and uh we We're gonna give him some sweat. He works for us so he doesn't get that hundred bucks. But let me play a little bit more. This is the police uh with my mom's favorite sting. And this is Miss Grudenko. Miss Gridanko.

SPEAKER_07

Your mom likes Sting.

SPEAKER_01

Love Sweet.

SPEAKER_04

Don't tell the director, I said so. But how you say, Miss Gridenko? We were at a policy meeting, they were planning new ways of cheating. I don't want to rub your boat, but you said this dangerous road You've been letting your feelings show. Are you safe, Miss Creteco? Miss Crchenko, are you safe? Are you safe, Miss Pertenko? Miss Crutchinko, are you safe? Anybody alive in here?

unknown

Anybody alive in here? Anybody is old in here.

SPEAKER_04

Nobody but us in here. Nobody but us. Anybody alive in here? Nobody but us. You're much alive in it. You've been letting your feelings show. Are you safe, Mr. Dako? Mr. Dako, are you safe?

unknown

Anybody alive in here? Nobody but a sick here.

SPEAKER_04

Nobody but us.

unknown

Anybody alive in here? Nobody but us here. Nobody but us. Nobody but us in here. Nobody but us here.

SPEAKER_04

See if it can make you filthy rich-wave burst that I had class, and they get away from the spool. We move over three minutes. We ever run this book. Then I love the neighborhood sound like you feel my heart in love. I want you so you're tired and you just wanna close your eyes. No treatment Surrender Let's soldiers in the windows like land. No retreat. We score on the years, oh we're now ready to grow the younger years. And hear your sister's voice on us all across the old yards. But maybe we are cut some place around with these drums and these guitars. We stole it all waste of memory. No retreat, baby. No retreat, baby. I will sleep beneath these low skies in my lovers. And these romantic dreams in my life This was with me. No treat baby Notion story with a heart to the band Love Street, baby No treaty, baby.

SPEAKER_06

Oh no, just kidding. Stick around, it'll get better.

SPEAKER_04

W U C on KSJET me do the same thing. That's what I know. Well, never say direction, never let it go. I'm not sure, you're not job, I'm better going this way, yeah. Well I had to make the same direction. I will turn around the audience too we have dangerous, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I could be in in excess.

SPEAKER_07

That was uh excessive, but I'm not in excess.

SPEAKER_01

That's right. Sadly. That was the same direction. And before that was Bruce Springsteen with no surrender. Well, you could tell it was Bruce Springsteen right away.

SPEAKER_07

Immediately, yeah. Like, is that the boss? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

The boss.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Do you know why they call him the boss?

SPEAKER_07

I do not, do you?

SPEAKER_01

I do. It sounds like the setup to a joke, but no, this is what I heard back when he had his band the E Street Man. Very early on in the day, uh in the days of their band starting, when they would do games, he would handle all of the money. He would handle the book, he would handle all of the business aspects of running the band, so he wasn't even talking about the E Street Man included.

SPEAKER_07

You know what? That's really a bad idea. Oh, the saxophone is kind of like nothing like that.

SPEAKER_01

Nothing like it.

SPEAKER_07

I thought I was gonna get you, but no.

SPEAKER_01

I knew it was coming out, because if you hadn't made that joke, I would have made that joke.

SPEAKER_07

This is the wake-up call, of course, and we like W U C. And of course it's on K U. And my lovely, lovely choice friend.

SPEAKER_01

Choice. Oh, I am the I am the top choice. Let's say my fly. Well then choose another one.

SPEAKER_07

Fresh. My fresh friend.

SPEAKER_01

And here I've got an alliteration, my fly, buddy.

SPEAKER_07

There we go. That means that I'm kind of irritating because I'm like, you know what?

SPEAKER_01

Like a fly.

SPEAKER_07

That's right.

SPEAKER_01

I am the definition of it.

SPEAKER_07

I'm currently not flying, but I will be after we close the show.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You'll be way up there. That's right. You get high with a little help from your friends, of course. From me. And uh we're celebrating the 80s today. Um obscure 80s hit some of the lesser-known songs from fans and artists you most definitely know, but some of some of their V-side.

SPEAKER_07

Some of you probably haven't heard of these songs so far. I have not heard. I do recognize some of the artists when they start playing some of them a little bit. And you know what? I was gonna say to you before I forget, you know, we've got to forget that we call it a bit. We have to get the young lady to do that. That would be a free sweet card. No bigger than a minute. I know her very well. Um yeah, we can see the great.

SPEAKER_01

They know that they're doing artwork. And they want to be making it.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. He had a couple of nice words to say.

SPEAKER_01

That's so good. I love physical storytelling like that.

SPEAKER_07

And then, of course, uh down below that, right in the tail, is an adolescent dragon, which is her baby dragon.

SPEAKER_01

Her baby dragon movie.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, both can't have to be not old enough yet to love flame, but he's gonna be like a little bit of fun. So I have a whole theme going with my cat.

SPEAKER_01

That's fun, like medieval fantasy stuff. I love that.

SPEAKER_07

But you know, I tell you, another part of that, and I don't know whether it was an 80s thing or not for tattoos. Um, but you have a female on your arm as well. Yes. That is the top half of the street.

SPEAKER_01

I like to say she's my very liberal mermaid.

SPEAKER_07

Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

She was burning her bra at the feminist march, and so she's very free, is what I'll say.

SPEAKER_07

So what I'm thinking about on my forearm on the other side is getting something like a.

SPEAKER_01

You can get a harpy or a pretty harpy lady, you know, they got the bird wings and the claws. But they're also beautiful women.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, with movies.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And we've come to the most important part of the movie. There you go. Alright. Well, I think that's my uh my cue to play another song.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, we got coming up, we got uh David's.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we do. And this is Maybe Maybe uh by Aha, which you probably know for Take On Me. Oh, yeah. Take on this song.

SPEAKER_04

Maybe you are joking when you said that you are walking out on me. Lady Lakes. I should be running, start around I could be running, start around I could be run I don't know what it's being said. Decisions travel from header was over when you jump me out of the road and between paper, I could be around, stop I could be wrong, stop I could be wrong, stop I could be around I could be right I could be right, so I could be running I could be running so I could be running so I could be running so he's always had his own language.

SPEAKER_06

Ren and I like to humor him.

SPEAKER_07

Here's David Knees. All right, are you ready for this? Petophobic. Petophobic, that's one who is embarrassed to undress in front of a household pet. Petophobic.

SPEAKER_01

Petophobic, okay.

SPEAKER_04

My memory's just fake too when nothing could you My decision went to last. Now there's nothing left to hide. I just got punished by too many times If you should go if you should go If you should go this works for her You should be to my senses When lies drunk in Trump There's no time, me to moment me tell me still Now there's nothing left to try. I just feel gonna be too many times if you should go if you should go if you should go Now there's nothing left to unistreat too many times It makes no difference by doing your mistake We think the same scene would take Andy If you should go so If you should go If you should go to the Cogs Both Well Dave that was Heart for Hire by Swing Out Sister, and before that was Maybe Baby by A Ha.

SPEAKER_07

He's trying to be an 80s DJ, isn't it?

SPEAKER_00

Trying to be an 80s DJ, Dave. That's me, Ren. Ren on the spot, as they call me. Next up is Wax with Systematic.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, I can hardly wait.

SPEAKER_00

Obscure 80s coming at you, baby. Yeah, enjoy it.

unknown

Don't want to do this today.

SPEAKER_04

What we don't do, step I'm on the way to them, and now my wheels are spinning around, mid-round, little round, little round. I'm all the way spinning around the day when do you see things out of the way to do that?

SPEAKER_06

Oh, the wake-up call is almost over for another week. And it's time to get your Zen on with the Zen of Rand.

SPEAKER_01

So we kind of dealt with the idea of like forgotten music today. Maybe not even forgotten, but just not super remembered until you hear it. So here's a quote from Maggie Skype Vader. I think that's amazing. You're like a song that I heard when I was a little kid. And I knew that. You're like a song that I heard when I was a little kid. I knew until I heard it again. You don't like your wife.

SPEAKER_07

I mean, really hard on the radio on the radio. Anyway, we use the camera. We can't believe he's talking about you like that. And so we would go to your office parties and then give me crap.

SPEAKER_01

It was just okay. She clearly was okay with it.

SPEAKER_07

She wasn't okay with it.

SPEAKER_01

She secretly was holding her. Well, I think that's something that's nice too. Like baby boomers. There's that stereotype that they make jokes about how much they hate their wife or how they hold them. And same with the women, they make jokes about how they hate their husband. But you know, you could say that that's maybe because that generation was raised to believe that once you get married, that's it, you have a divorce. And so they would stay in relationships that were unfulfilling, you know, longer than they should have. So I think it's healthy anytime you can recognize, hey, me and this person aren't working out anymore.

SPEAKER_07

Well, we're still good friends to this day. So, you know, if you're the mother of two of my kids, I just always have a piece of my heart. That's all right.

SPEAKER_01

And she always has a piece of radio legacy, you know.

SPEAKER_07

With my stellar friend Rand.

SPEAKER_01

And my trippin' buddy day.

SPEAKER_07

I also want to call you my most triumphant friend Rand.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, thank you. And my and I mean this in a good way, my dad buddy day.

SPEAKER_07

Or my do my doodad friend.

SPEAKER_01

And you know what? I've even got one more for you, my rad. We got all the words in the world. And it's been a fun show. We were celebrating the 80s obscure 80s specifically.

SPEAKER_07

Obscure 80s, thanks to G Oj. Thank you, George.

SPEAKER_01

G OJ, this was a fantastic playlist. Thank you for letting me rearrange it. I think I got one more song for it here. It's a pretty classic 80s, like sad boy band. Um, but I think I think they're really good. This is the Smiths. Well, not all of them. I mean, you got Deaf Lemon.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, boy bands.

SPEAKER_01

They were a boy band, technically, if you think about it.

SPEAKER_07

I take it back.

SPEAKER_01

Well, this is the Smiths with Ask.

SPEAKER_07

The Smiths?

SPEAKER_01

The Smiths.

SPEAKER_07

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Have a good one. Love you, Randy.

SPEAKER_01

Love you too, buddy. Bye-bye, everyone.

SPEAKER_04

Shyness is nice and shyness can stop you from doing all the things in life you'd like to. Shyness is nice and shyness can stop you from doing all the things in life you'd like to. So it's something you'd like to try. Something you'd like to try. Ask me I won't take no after that. Poinus is nice. From staying all the things in life you'd like to go. Something you'd like to try. Something you'd like to try. Ask me our wall spend on that. The ball, the bump, the ball, the ball, the ball, the ball, the bone, together the line with heart. The line with heart's not the ball, the bone, the bone, the bone, the bone, the bone, the bone, the gut, the ball, the ball, the net the bone, the bone, the gut, and the biggest.

SPEAKER_06

This is the voice of George of the Jungle coming to you from the mouth of George of the Jungle, telling you to join us next week for more W UC with the voices of Ren and David coming out of their mouths. All rights reserved. Until next time. Excellent to each other. Always wear your cleaner.
