SPEAKER_00

And now for something completely different.

SPEAKER_02

Here we are, another beautiful day today. Oh, he was he was uh a gentle giant, if you will. In terms of his effect on culture.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I agree. Alright, so I tell you, I really enjoyed the show last week, right?

SPEAKER_02

We did out in a country that was a blast.

SPEAKER_00

And I'm not sure how we're gonna talk about that, honestly. But I I do the challenge on the I don't know if this will be hard to do the last show.

SPEAKER_02

Or it's it's completely different. So like we just gotta set it at the beginning of the show now for something completely different. This is another sort of subgenre from the 70s and 80s and beyond. This is synth pop. Synthes like synthetic.

SPEAKER_00

Synthesis.

SPEAKER_02

Synth. The first song I'm gonna play, you like I have a list. Yeah. Synthetic pop. And the first song I'm gonna play, you absolutely are gonna know it.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, I'm ready, let's do it.

SPEAKER_10

Summers in full swing, WC is making it even hotter with some great tonnage. Uh uh, I mean tunage. Sorry, Dave, didn't mean to bring you into this. Sit back, grab a cup of something, and crank it up. WC is on the air exclusively on KSJE.

SPEAKER_08

Sweet dreams are made of ears. Who am I to disagree? I travel the world and the seven seeds. Everybody's looking for something. Some of them want to use you. Some of them want to get used by you. Some of them want to abuse you. Some of them want to be abused. Whoever might do disagree. Travel the world and step and seeds. Everybody's looking for something. Some of them want to get used by you. Some of them want to use you. Some of them want to be able.

SPEAKER_00

I I love Annie Lennox. I'm just gonna say me too.

SPEAKER_02

Oh gosh. As you know, she trips my drinkers. She oh she's got so many good iconic songs and obviously styled. You know, as you know, during the 2020s, I went a little wild and cut my hair and dyed it in copper. Very much inspired by Annie Lennox at that time in that music world.

SPEAKER_00

If you're gonna be inspired by someone, she would be amazing.

SPEAKER_02

It was a little bit of her and a little bit of David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust. I kind of miss those days, but as a teacher, it's harder to just cut your hair off and dye it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I can't, yeah, I can't see the show enough. Maybe but I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

The kids would be a little thrown off. Hey Dave, how's it going?

SPEAKER_00

Good. I'm Ren. And um we're we're doing what are we gonna call this show? I mean, we should just call it.

SPEAKER_02

I thought that was a great intro to it because it's synthpop, right? Very much synonymous with the 80s. Though it it started in the 70s and it you know it's still going today. It's got that retro sound, it's got that fun video game sound, synthetic. Yeah, I've got a bit of a description if you let me know. Which is funny because I think the last 45 seconds it was just me talking about. If you're not sick of my voice yet, Synth is a genre built on a simple trade. Guitars for the synthesizers is the primary instrument. It emerged in the late 70s, um, early 80s out of the new wave, and it leaned into the cold electronic textures. Um baseline and vocals that feel just a little bit. It is S Y N P A. Yes, it's very close. Yes, precisely that Darth Vader would have listened to, it probably would have been a metal.

SPEAKER_00

You are the father.

SPEAKER_02

He he loved his Astromax. That's something that you learn about uh Anakin Skywalker, who of course is Darth Vader. Maybe the fourth was not that long ago, and as you know, I love Star Wars. I've got a Star Wars tattoo behind my ears. Um yeah, Anakin Skywalker was a bad thing.

SPEAKER_00

I do. It's the vessel of what's his name?

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna make you guess it.

SPEAKER_00

Well it was Hurricane Ford, but yeah, I don't remember the vessel. There we go.

SPEAKER_02

Or some people call it the aluminum, the aluminum falcon. Because it's fallen apart like it's made out of aluminum. Um I definitely have some classic artists. Um, so uh I'm gonna start it off. One of those one. The most famous. But I I think some of these other songs you might have heard, and if you haven't heard them, hopefully you like it.

SPEAKER_00

You started it off just right because I do I do love it.

SPEAKER_02

Perfect. Okay, so this is Erasure. I played you a little bit of this song and you said you liked it, so let's see if you like it. This is a little respect.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I love this song. I've heard it before, yeah. There you go. Good tune. Way to go, Rip.

SPEAKER_08

I try to discover a little something to make me sweeter. Obey the refrain from breaking my heart. I'm so in love with you.

SPEAKER_05

I'll be forget, give me no beat. Why you make me wait for you?

SPEAKER_08

Give me no debt, give me no debt, give me no debt, give me no sound.

SPEAKER_10

Is that even possible? Stick with W U C on K SJE to find out.

SPEAKER_00

You know, we gotta stop that.

SPEAKER_02

I'm really enjoying ours us harmonizing recently. We've been getting good at it.

SPEAKER_00

You know, when that song started, I thought that was Annie Linux, but it's not.

SPEAKER_02

It's kind of got that same vibe. It's from the same time. That was Bronsky Beat with Small Town Boy.

SPEAKER_00

Brownski beat? Bronsky beat.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Yeah. And that went, I don't know if it went viral on TikTok, but it got kind of popular on TikTok for a while, so it made a research.

SPEAKER_00

I'm loving the music.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I've I've got a Ren Rant for us actually about music.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah. And you know, Zeb was so proud of his new intro for you and stuff, so I'm anxious.

SPEAKER_02

I love it. It sounds great. Let's let the folks at home listen.

SPEAKER_10

When it comes to ranting on entertainment, movies, TV shows, etc., move over Sisco and Ebert. It's time for Ren Rance.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's right. There's a new name in movie reviewing now. I was gonna have you say move over Mike and Jay, but I don't think people know them as much. They're movie reviewers that I like, but anyway, I'm talking about a movie that came out years ago. Uh it's Trolled World Tour from 2020. It's an American animated jukebox musical comedy film directed by uh Walt Dorn, and it has a great cast. It has Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Rachel Bloom, Sam Rockwell, and it's got special appearances by all sorts of artists like Ozzie Osborne, Kelly Clarkson, George Clinton, and Mary Jane Blythe, just to name a few. It follows it's a sequel to the first trolls movie. It follows the trolls Queen Poppy and Ranch, who discover that there are six different troll tribes, each representing a unique music genre. When the hard rock trolls, led by Queen Barb, threatened to destroy the other music genres. Poppy and her friends embarked on a quest to unite the trolls and save their diverse melodies from extinction. That was a very long description. It's a fabulously entertaining movie for any and all ages, genuinely funny and heartwarming, great musical performances. All of the voice actors they hired are also singers, so it's not like they're just doing their best and you have to do it in there. Umes of diversity and the importance of the different groups of people working together, which I think are important to me. Yeah, it's really good. It's genuinely funny as an adult. I rewatched it recently with a student of mine because it's one of his favorite movies. And I was like, This is good. So please, if you like any animated movies, watch it.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I'll do it.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna hold you to it, Dave.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, you got a little bit of lead in that. Go ahead and get started now. We can talk a little bit.

SPEAKER_10

That's Hollywood, baby. Now you have the skill back to the show.

SPEAKER_07

But I have no fear.

SPEAKER_08

There's something inside you. It's hard to explain.

SPEAKER_07

I want you drive to through what I'm not here. We don't want to fear. I'm gonna wear it. But I have no fear.

SPEAKER_08

It's hard to spend you. But you're still too excited. But you're still the same. There's something inside you. There's something inside you. It's hard to explain. It's hard to explain.

SPEAKER_00

To me, it was kind of depressing.

SPEAKER_02

Well, it's supposed to synthpop, especially these days. Back in the 80s, I imagine it was about dancing. But now it's definitely about that kind of like gloomy nostalgia of like driving late at night and making a call on a drone on a on a payphone. You know, I don't think I've ever made a call on a payphone.

SPEAKER_00

It's really frustrating if you don't have recorders. We're having a great show. Exactly. I was gonna say the other word, but I'll like it.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I like it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's what we're calling. I love it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, what's his name?

SPEAKER_00

Pillsbury. Pillsbury Doughboy.

SPEAKER_02

There you go. That's him. That's it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I'm gonna send him a bill.

SPEAKER_02

If you need an image for what that looks like. Alright.

SPEAKER_00

More information next hour about how you can get involved too and maybe get a hundred bucks. And and get some more swag.

SPEAKER_02

I've got a pretty classic spin pop course. This is Tainted Love. This is Song Cell. This is such a great tune. I love the song.

SPEAKER_09

Sometimes I feel I've got to run away. I've got to get away from the pain you drive into the autonomy. The love we share seems to go nowhere. And I've lost my light. For I touch and turn I can't sleep at night. Once I ran to you, now I run from you. I give you all a boy could give you. Take my tears, and that's not nearly oh Saint the love. Say the love. Now I know I've got to run away, I've got to get away. You don't really want any more from me to make things right. You need someone to hold you tight and giving love is to pray. But I'm sorry I don't pray that way. Once I ran to Now I run from you. I give you all a boy could give you. Take my tears, and that's not really Oh Sainte Love Sainted love. Don't touch me, please. I cannot stand the way you see. I love you, though you admit so. Now I'm gonna pack my taint and go. Sainted love. Sainted love Sainted love Sainted love Touch my baby taints and sound my baby tain.

SPEAKER_03

Sainted love Saint New I dress for every situation Moving through the doorway of connection. Pick me up and shake it out.

SPEAKER_05

Baby, I can't do without Don't mess around. You bring me down. I ain't gonna doubt don't make me sense I remember only for an hour.

unknown

Move out to me, can you feel power?

SPEAKER_05

I don't know what's going on. Scare me that you won't be laughing.

unknown

You bring me down. How you get about make me sound smooth.

SPEAKER_05

They just dedicate you with your brother. Be a little time, be a little time, I'll get to you so Move up, don't mess around. You bring me down. How you get about, don't make sense move out.

SPEAKER_04

Move up, don't mess around.

SPEAKER_05

How you get about, don't make sense move out.

unknown

You bring me down, I get that convict.

SPEAKER_04

You bring me down, I get a back, don't make that you bring me down, I get a back, don't make that boom up.

SPEAKER_02

Yazoo!

SPEAKER_00

Yahoo!

SPEAKER_02

Yahoo Yazoo Yahoo, also known as Yaz, Yaz in North America.

SPEAKER_00

Y A Z.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I don't know why. It was sort of like how they just changed John Mellencamp's name to John Cougar because they're like soul better. So they called Yazoo Yaz in North America. That was a situation.

SPEAKER_00

I you know, and I don't know that I've ever I've heard the song, but I might have played it on one of my shows over the years.

SPEAKER_02

I don't remember, but it's a little long for the radio. I'm sure there's a shorter version, but I like the full version because you get all the breakdowns of the the roller coaster of the beat.

SPEAKER_00

NOS concepts, all one word, all lowercase, I-n-t-r-w-e-s-t-c-o-n-c-e-p-t-s.com. By the time this airs, we probably the the page should be brought up to date. We're making some major changes. Ken Collins may be back. I'm not sure about that just yet. Um and I'm very excited about the things we got planned, especially our uh our our swag that we're gonna have. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

I love putting my face on merchandise for people to know.

SPEAKER_00

Uh mouse pads, we're gonna have some stickers, oh, coffee mugs, t-shirts.

SPEAKER_02

You can wear us to the office and drink the coffee out of our faces, it'll be great. It's the digital age.

SPEAKER_00

And listen, we're always open for suggestions. If you'll send a suggestion and we use it, uh we'll pay you a hundred dollars uh for the first one. The second one, we're just gonna send you a bucket full of swag.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

But uh yeah. We've had a couple of uh actually three, I think, at this point. Uh I forgot about Valerie's rate of suggestions. We were looking at that show.

SPEAKER_02

The walk-up song. That one we we're still working on because we want to get people's input on it, and we haven't gotten enough.

SPEAKER_00

Let's do this. Uh because we haven't talked about it. But if you have a walk-up song, and what a walk-up song is basically what pumps you up to go into something.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, to walk up to something.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or it can be something that they play for you to walk up on stage to.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

So something not only something that pumps you up, but something that maybe represents you and maybe pumps up the audience.

SPEAKER_00

So if you will uh send that to us, uh we'd like to have your voice. So uh send it to the you can do it uh you can do a voicemail through the uh through our webpage at Wisconsin. We'd love to hear from you for sure. And we'll make you a radio star.

SPEAKER_02

We will, if you want.

SPEAKER_00

And if you do, that's okay too.

SPEAKER_02

But if you want to be on the radio, it's easy. Easy peasy.

SPEAKER_00

Just email Easy Peasy Limit Squeezy. You know that we have over uh we uh right now, uh, as of this show, 292 episodes out there. 200.

SPEAKER_02

And didn't you say this is our 22nd episode of the season? And we're not even halfway through the year. Man, we just pump them out, huh?

SPEAKER_00

We do 52 a year.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's one a week, right?

SPEAKER_02

One a week. We don't take any time off.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_02

Because even the new sh even the shows we put out that are like clip shows, those are newly edited by you.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So if you want variety, stick with us, folks.

SPEAKER_00

They all have our hands all over all our sticky little fingerprints. Yeah, that's right. So if you're if you're modest about being touched, it's a good thing our episodes aren't. Yeah. Because I touch them a lot. I touch them vigorously.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Every chance I get.

SPEAKER_02

Oh man. Consenting. It's consenting.

SPEAKER_00

That's right. It's consensual.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I just want everybody to know that.

SPEAKER_00

Right, so what do we decide? Oh, I oh I got things that make you go mmm.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, you do? Yeah. Right now?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's right.

SPEAKER_02

All right. Well, we're we're about to make you think, so get ready for that, folks.

SPEAKER_05

Things that make you go.

SPEAKER_10

Here's David with things that make you go. All your money back.

SPEAKER_00

I'm not refunding a damn thing. I'm doing it right there. Alright, so this is extremely interesting. Made me go, mmm, and you're the one that actually turned me on to this.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

So, um, and I have been seeing bears, I've had bears walk in front of my vehicle uh when I lived in Durango. I mean, like, as I had a Jeep, and that bear on all fours was as tall as the top of my Jeep. Not the top, but the hood of my Jeep. Yeah. Big thing. Anyway, there's been many, many uh sightings of bears in the wilderness where they have been observed engaging in unusual behavior, such as remaining moaches for an extended period in a specific location, seemingly doing nothing but gazing at picturesque landscapes. There is a there is very little explanation as to why bears exhibited such behavior from theorizing. Even though they appear to be cruel and collected, do not approach me.

SPEAKER_02

Do not approach me. They are mean, they can be mean, which is so cruel because of their cute little fuzzy ears and their cute little noses and their their little lips that grab berries. They are so cute. They look like you should be able to give them a big old hug. But don't, please don't, please don't do that.

SPEAKER_00

This is K-S-J-E, and I'm broadcasting with my synthetic friends.

SPEAKER_02

And my uh uh electronic buddy. There you go.

SPEAKER_00

Thought that right out of your buttocks.

SPEAKER_02

And we've got we've got a classic synth pop. We're talking about synth pop today. We're playing synth pop music. Um we've got a classic synth pop song here for you. This is Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I love Depeche Mode. Thanks, Reddit.

SPEAKER_08

It's right to me, too, understand. Oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_10

W UC's got the spirit, we've got the class, and the ability to shake our Pom Pums only on K SJE, I think, I think, I think, I think, I think, We're in the battle, we're in my eyes broke.

SPEAKER_08

I'm frightened by the liquid engineers. But like yo My battery so too bad I like to pull around the voice like a real Like young I'm not to be a man like young me in, turn me off the movie.

SPEAKER_02

You may know his other song, which I think is called Cars. And he's a synth pop pioneer. He was one of the earliest people to be using electronic machines in as as the main instruments in music, all the way in the the late 1970s.

SPEAKER_00

Well, Rand, I just gotta tell you too, I'm I'm so excited. I love the show today, but coming up soon, and we're gonna do it on location, which is gonna be outside on my driveway. We're gonna fill the neighborhood up with Saks. Mark Smith is gonna be on here uh in the next few weeks. A couple weeks, actually. It won't be long now. Yeah, he's gonna come over and we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna record outside.

SPEAKER_02

So with the speaker going.

SPEAKER_00

Love Mark.

SPEAKER_02

He's a professional. I saw him in Pagosa Springs not too long ago, and he was really, really good.

SPEAKER_00

He is a he he is a fantastic saxophone player, and I've known him since high school. I've known him since I've known him since the early, early 70s, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, that's cool. Has he always lived in Farmington?

SPEAKER_00

He has.

SPEAKER_02

Nice.

SPEAKER_00

Interesting cat for sure. He's different. And then I ran sound for him.

SPEAKER_02

He played in reason for a while, and so Well, to be a professional musician, you have to be unique.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Well, especially sexy. He's he's cool. You know, and cool people play sex.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

The rest of us just have sex. I just could not resist.

SPEAKER_02

I just a good joke. It's like, uh, that's funny. No, I like that. It just reminds me of like the kind of joke that my my boyfriend Derek would would probably tell.

SPEAKER_00

I know, he's kind of he's he's kind of quirky like that.

SPEAKER_02

And he's got the good, it's the the uh bait and switch of like, oh, you know, people who play sax are cool. Interesting. You know. It was good timing. I like that joke.

SPEAKER_00

All right, well listen, if you've got a suggestion, send it to us. Uh Interwest Concepts.com, all lowercase, all one word. Um just I-N-T-R-W-E-S-T-C-O-N-C-E-P-T-S dot com. And uh thank you to K-S-J-E. Every Sunday we're there at eleven o'clock. Uh we appreciate Scott McLenny's a great guy.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, absolutely. Love hearing him in the morning. I've been listening to his morning show on my drive to the show. Yes, and so much better than so many of the other canned TV or not TV radio shows that are being broadcast in LA or whatever.

SPEAKER_00

I tell you, one of the greatest texts I ever got. Oh, actually, you sent me a voice text about a show that you were listening to on a radio station I used to be on.

SPEAKER_02

A radio station whose host, the morning host I do not enjoy. I'm sure he's a funny what?

SPEAKER_00

Why not?

SPEAKER_02

Uh no, I was about to say, I'm very I'm very particular with how my announcers speak. Uh which is funny because enunciate. Yeah. Which is funny. I think I enunciate pretty well, but I I am a little shrill sometimes, but you know, to each their own.

SPEAKER_00

But uh is it time for the zen?

SPEAKER_02

I think it's time for let's do it to it.

SPEAKER_10

Before I have something else nasty to say a certain amount of Zen. Ren has it oozing out her fingers and toes, and as the show winds down, here is the Zen of Ren.

SPEAKER_02

Alright. This one comes to us from Chris uh Jami. Closed in a room, my imagination becomes the universe, and the rest of the world is missing out. A little bit of an ode to the way that there is a world in all of our mind. Respected. The last episode it was uh David the Deputy, so you're kinda going down in the title. Deputy Dog David. All right, let's get out of here. I got one more song for us. Uh it's by the Pet Shop Boys. Love you, buddy. This is always on my mind.

SPEAKER_08

Maybe I do that. You are always on my mind, you are always on my mind, always, over already?

SPEAKER_10

No need to panic, Ren and David will be back next week. Same W UC time, same WUC station. All right, I gotta say, all rights reserved. For K SJ E and WC, I'm Zeb McCluskey. And until next time. Excellent to each other.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, we're waiting to clean that new way.
