And now for something completely different.
SPEAKER_11You see why I don't do this. We're professionals. No matter what. I sure do Mr. Ren.
SPEAKER_10Ken's are sitting in Ken sitting in for Ren. She's in Japan, man. And I hope to have her on the show here next week, I think. Maybe I have my fingers crossed. I think if we get all the technicalities worked out, but in the meantime, so I've had several people come in, not several, because I don't trust too many, but I had uh the one the new lady that's gonna be working with us now, sir. She's such a sweet.
SPEAKER_09I'd like to meet her.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, you do. She's she's a doll and a great singer. Oh my god, yeah. Oh, yeah. Listen to the last couple of shows and you'll find out. Um and anyway, so I invited you to come, and you guys host with me before. Plus, plus, we are just talking to you today, because we haven't seen each other in so long. I know. Just talking to you today, it's like, oh we gotta bring male encounters of the lifetime back.
SPEAKER_09I know.
SPEAKER_10We we gotta do it.
SPEAKER_09The chemistry is still there.
SPEAKER_10That's a little scary. All the music today you have uh chosen. But I I'm gonna start typically I start with the intro, but I'm gonna start with this because this is a song that you wrote. I wrote this. Yeah, it's a great song. We're gonna talk about it after the in the in the middle here coming up. That's good tune.
SPEAKER_05Not two years of time since her husband ran. She dug in and decided this was God's plan. She worked on herself and made a new last. She had much more to offer. She was She focused her efforts, built up her careers, not known that love. She had all she was the force. They had all their easters, all the next stars, all the fire, the birds had too far, the last made a moment, bitter and sweet. So they took one more chance, just all their feet. Now they're the moments.
SPEAKER_01WC is making it even hotter with some great tonnage. Uh uh, I mean tonnage. Sorry, Dave, didn't mean to bring you into this. Sit back, grab a cup of something, and crank it up. WC is on the air exclusively on KSJE.
SPEAKER_05No matter what you do, and I hope you understand me. Every word I say is true. Baby, I'm thinking of you trying to be more of a man for you. Don't have much of a chair, but we gonna see you through because I love you. And I told him, I said, you know, I'm having problems with the woman that I love. It seems that I call her on the phone and I I just can't get her to answer. And then I went to her house and I saw a car parked in the driveway. I knocked on the door, but still my knocks went unanswered. And then I went home and uh I watched television until television went off. And then I played my records until I just didn't want to hear them anymore. And finally I went to bed, but I found myself waking up a few hours later, and the tears were running down my face. And my friend told me, he said, Lenny, you just ought to forget about it. But I told my friend, I said, you know, maybe you've never been in love like I've been in love. And maybe you've never felt the things that I felt. But this is what I told my friend, I said that you know, sometimes you get alone. You get alone, you get alone.
SPEAKER_10So what what did you just say before I opened the microphone? What did I just say? Oh, listen to the music, not the y'all. Absolutely. Well, listen, I am so glad that you took the time to uh did this coming um I don't know. I love this. Oh, good. You know, it's funny because we had a conversation. Oh, by the way, who was that that we just heard about it? Oh, that was Lenny, Lenny Williams.
SPEAKER_09Isn't that your favorite uh that that as far as I'm concerned, that is the greatest love song ever.
SPEAKER_10You don't think of the one that you wrote.
SPEAKER_09That's difficult because yeah, the first one we listened to, that was my song. I wrote that song.
SPEAKER_10Let's get that out too, because I when you sent it to me, you said, Can we play this? I said, dude, I can play whatever I want as long as we don't have any cursors. So and I and man, I I don't know. I was like, you were excited. I don't know. Did you get really excited?
SPEAKER_09I mean, I kind of did. So what I'm more excited about is I know this is a plays on KSG, obviously. Absolutely. And so I can now tell Jerry who that song is about. Me and Jerry.
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_09I can now tell Jerry's son, who had a very popular band in Denver, local band, uh, that my song played on the radio. Not only that, it's on a worldwide podcast.
SPEAKER_10It is.
SPEAKER_09We're worldwide. You are. I've looked, I've seen the countries that listen to your show.
SPEAKER_10It's a bunch. It's a bunch. And you know, and Ren is in Japan. I don't know whether we talked about that or first break, but uh and so she it's one of her favorite places. She's even tried to learn Japanese. Really? Oh my god, yeah. And she sent me the coordinates where she's at and all that kind of stuff. It's really, I mean, so excited.
SPEAKER_09And you said we're gonna try and get her on the air from Japan. Right.
SPEAKER_10Hopefully, I'm gonna have her on next week. That's fingers across, we're gonna try to work out all the technical difficulties. And we had some this morning that typically I would have just had Randy handling. But you screwed things up over here. Because you're kind of a techno guy too, right? Yeah. Anyway, we we turned everything off, turned everything back on, and it worked.
SPEAKER_09So the oldest daughter of my my latest ex-wife, she's in the Air Force. She got stationed at Okinawa. And recently back almost 30 years ago. And so she would always say because she got stationed in Japan, she's like, rain is now in the future. Because it's tomorrow.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, it's seven hours. There's seven hours ahead of us. Yeah, yeah. So we're working out the time when we're gonna record and that kind of stuff. I have to do it at four o'clock, she's gonna do it at five in the morning, that kind of thing. That kind of thing.
SPEAKER_11You have to go through the time continuum. You know, she's really sweet. She's working around me. You know, and I said, No, you're the one over there. I don't want you to be getting up at two, three o'clock. She's like, Oh, we'll probably be up.
SPEAKER_10But yes, her friend also is in the armed forces as well. And she's a really cool cool lady as well. Anyway, I'm so excited about that. But this show we're doing um and I and you know, I I I I've known I I've I know Jerry. She is such a sweetheart. Yeah. And uh I love her too. Yeah. Um and so this now I've got to know you even better because we spent almost three years recording uh male encounters together at a bar. Yeah. And um now that I'm getting to know you even better, I've fallen in love with even Jerry even more. And you too, of course. But uh this is all pretty much this music I can tell is you picked for her.
SPEAKER_09So, Jerry, this show's for you, baby. Sort of. There's one uh one personal pain song in there for me. Okay. But I know I did notice I didn't even pay attention at first at first, but uh they're all love songs.
SPEAKER_10Well, uh the thing is this next one I'm playing, I'm sure this is how you went into this relationship with her. For sure. Okay, yeah. You know which one I'm talking about.
SPEAKER_03Introduced me to your family, watched my favorite shows on your TV. Maybe breakfast in the morning when you got home from work, making plans to travel around the world. Said we'd always put each other first. Oh love songs we used to play too. Funny now I hate you. Remember when you call me bad. I give you my hours good advice, just try to fix you all your days. But now I don't even fit you anymore. Oh I die. I want all the days back that I cried all the hours that give good advice. Oh you did prove me wrong. Shoulda paid attention to my friends. Tell me how bad it's gonna end. Always giving the opinion. Now I wish I would have listed. I could say I'm sorry, but I'm not You don't deserve the one thing that you love. I give you my house dead if I just try to fix you.
SPEAKER_04Oh, when you said you loved me when you must have had your fingers crossed.
SPEAKER_03I want all the tears back that I cried. All the hours spent giving advice on how to write your songs. All you did was prove me wrong. Wish you said you loved me when you didn't have your fingers cross.
SPEAKER_05One, two, three. Somebody save me from myself has been so long living in hair. They say my lifestyle is bad for my hell. It's the only thing that seems to help All of this drinking and smoking is hopeless, but feel like it's all that I need. Something inside of me's broken. I hold on to anything that sets me free. I'm a loss, cause baby, don't waste your time on me. I'm so damaged beyond repair. Life is shattered, my hopes and my dreams. I'm a lost cause. Baby, don't waste your time on me. I'm so damaged beyond repair. Life is shattered, my hopes and my dreams. There was no shooting stars to use wishing on you all of my sorrows. I just washed them down. It's the only peace I've ever found. All of this drinking and smoking is hopeless, but feel like it's all that I need. Something inside of me's broken. I hold on to anything that sets me free. Don't waste your time on me. I'm so damaged beyond repair. Life is shattered, my hopes and my dreams. I'm a loss car, baby, don't waste your time on me. I'm so damaged beyond repair. Life is shattered, my hopes and my dreams.
SPEAKER_10That was beautiful. That was absolutely gorgeous.
SPEAKER_09That song makes me cry. Yeah. That song mimics my life. It's jelly roll, weirdly enough. Jelly Roll. Makes me cry.
SPEAKER_10I've had jelly. Good jelly. My mom made some good, but it never made me cry. Who knows? Alright, well listen, um, we gotta get to another song right now because the break's coming up. I got some more. This is some another one of yours. This one comes to us from Vincent Boone. Beautiful thing.
SPEAKER_07Oh, father who is rough. But lately I've been doing better than the last four cold December. And I see my family every month. I found a girl my parents love. She'll come and stay the night, and I think I might have it all. And I thank God every day for the girl he sent my way. But I know the things he gives he can take away. And I hold you every night. And that's a feeling I wanna get used to. But there's no man as terrified. It's the man who stands to lose you. Oh I hope I don't lose you. Please stay. I want you, I need you, oh God.
SPEAKER_04Don't take these beautiful things that I've got. I want you to hold God These beautiful things that I've got I found my mind on feeling the same.
SPEAKER_07It's been a while, but I'm finding my face. If everything is good and it's great, why do I sit and wait till it's gone? Oh, I tell ya I know I've got enough. I've got things and I've got a love. But I'm up and I think I just might lose it all. I want you and need you, oh God. I need these beautiful things that I've got.
SPEAKER_00And now for something completely different. The wake-up call on KSJE.
SPEAKER_16Just when I saw my god and I fall in love with Tennessee. Should've known better than taking him back to Abilene. Put him right back in her arms. I wasn't a match for that kind of spark. She's from Texas, I can tell by the way. He's two stepping round the room. And judging by the smile that's dritten on his face. There's nothing I can do. It doesn't take a crystal ball to see. Drinking jack on by myself. He's choosing Texas, I can tell. Well, I guess he fur gun the smoky mountain rain. The old Huntington. The mountains blues leave us to shine. He always loved in the morning by morning. I shouldn't take in that middle morning. She's from Texas, I can tell by the way. He's too stepping round the room. Judging by the smile that's written on his face. There's nothing I can do. Drinking jack all by myself. When I'm spent on it, can I help? Is that forty smaller with every mile? I don't know that his mind wasn't never gonna change. Cause his heart still belongs to the lost ours day. She's from Texas, I can tell by the way. He's too stepping round the room. And judging by the smile that's written on his face. There's nothing I can do. A cowboy always finds a way to leave drinking jackal mama cell. He's choosing Texas, I can tell Drinking Jack on Ba must. I can tell. Come on, baby. Just when I fall like I'm a fall in love with Tennessee.
SPEAKER_10Is that it, kid? Oh my god. Oh, wait, I didn't I don't think I there you're on now. Oh my god. I and uh what were you saying about her again? She's kinda she is kind of a one-trick pony, you're right.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. So I really like that song right there was the first song I ever heard of Ellen. And I liked the cleverness of the wording in it, which is not uncommon for country music. It's kind of why I'm a fan of country music.
SPEAKER_10She's a newer country artist. Newer. But she has a classic country voice. She does like she kind of reminds me a little bit of Junior Nettles. I don't know if you know who that is, but I just adore her. She has that kind of same kind of style. You know, I like the fact that it's it's not. And that Jelly Roll song was okay too. There's some new country that I just can keep. I I am I am more of a fan of the older big Hank Williams Jr. fan Hank Williams Williams. Oh no, and then uh Wayland Jennings, Willie Nelson, all of those guys. And the funny thing about Willie Nelson, and you may not know this, but I defy you to find because I loved a two-step song. And and country music is that was a perfect two-step song. Or wall. All of that. Um that wasn't a wall song, but I mean it was. No, no, no, no. That was a two-step song. No, that isn't two-step.
SPEAKER_09I love Waltes.
SPEAKER_10That's the only song I'll dance to is a wall side. Um, but I defy you to find a Willie Nelson song that you can kind of two-step comfortably to. Interesting. He does not. He is he is the oddball mix. I'll have to think through that. Yeah. I I defy you. If you do, drop me a text. Okay. I will. I'll buy you the next drink. Well, listen, I'm glad to have you along. This is K-S-J-E Renz in Japan. Ken's along to the ride. Ken and I are talking about bringing back male encounters of the lifetime. Right. Now, if you go to the webpage, in the westconcepts.com, all one word, all the word case. And that's I-N-T-E-R-W-E-S-T. Yeah. C-O-N-C-E-P-T-S. It's your job to go.
SPEAKER_11There you go.
SPEAKER_10There you go. Anyway, if you go there, I already have some of the shows that are there. All the way to the last one. I was supposed to wear something. I forgot my hat. That's awesome.
SPEAKER_11I know your feelings were hurt. I can remember I can remember your look on your face. I brought my hat. Where's your hat?
SPEAKER_10Well, this is all kid stuff. So if you don't like any of this stuff, blame me. Yeah, blame kid. Actually, I'm loving all of it so far. And some of it that young lady that we just played, I never heard of her before. Oh, Ella Langley. Yeah, I just absolutely adore her. Classic country voice. I agree. This one is uh Carly. Is that his name? Brothers. Carrie. Carrie Brothers. Yeah, Carrie Brothers. I haven't heard of them either. So when I first hear Blue Eyes, I think of Blue Eyes crying in the rain, right? Right? You know, of course. That's not what this one is. No. Here we go. Here's Ken Spick. Again, right here.
SPEAKER_05When the broad tone screams.
SPEAKER_13I just won't sing a song with you.
SPEAKER_05I just won't take it off with you. I can help you stay. Saved it up for this dance. Tell me how things you can.
SPEAKER_13I just want things out here. I just want to strip.
SPEAKER_01Whoever said you can't have your cake and eat it too has never listened to WUC exclusively on KSJE.
SPEAKER_13I was distracted and in traffic. I didn't feel it when the earthquake happened, but it really got me thinking. Were you out drinking? Were you in the living room, chilling, watching television? It's been a year now. Think I figured out how to let you go and let communication die how I know you know, we know you weren't down for forever, and it's fine. I know you know, we know we weren't meant for each other, and it's fine. But if the world was ending, you come overright. You come over and you'd stay the night. Would you love me for that of it? All I fears would be irrelevant. If the world was ending, you come overright. The sky be falling while I hold you tight. No, there wouldn't be a reason why. We would even have to say goodbye. If the world was ending, you come overright. Right. If the world was ending, you come overright. Right.
SPEAKER_15I tried to imagine your reaction. It didn't scare me when the earthquake happened, but it really got me thinking. The night we went drinking. Stumbled in the house and didn't make up as the kitchen. Ah, it's been a year now. Think I figured out how to think about you without it ripping my heart out.
SPEAKER_14And I know you know, we know you aren't down for forever and it's fine. I know you know, we know we weren't meant for each other, and it's fine. But if the world was ending, you come overright.
SPEAKER_06You come over and you stay the night. Would you love me for the hell of it? All our fears would be irrelevant. If the world was ending, you come over eye. Sky before them while I hold you tight. No, there wouldn't be a reason why. We would even have to say goodbye. If the war was end, then you come over eye. You come over eye, you come over, you come over, you come over eye.
SPEAKER_02I know you know, I know you went out for forever and it's fine. I know you know, we know we weren't meant for each other and it's fine.
SPEAKER_06But if the world was ending, you come over a you come over and you say the night. Would you love me for the hell of it? All I fears would be irrelevant. If the world was ending, you come over aye. Sky be falling while I hold you tight. Now there wouldn't be a reason why. We would even have to say goodbye. If the world was ending, you come over a you come over, you come over, you come over a if the wall was ending you come over, eh.
SPEAKER_10Man, I got my fingers ain't fast enough, brother. Was that what a waltz was? I wasn't paying attention. We were talking about so much. There was one we were playing, though. The first the one before this one was had the was a waltz too. I think so. Yeah. Yeah. One, two, three. One, two, three. K S-J-E, that's uh Ken sitting over there next to me. And of course, uh I I I I like I used to go by the generals. I don't know if you knew that or not. I yeah, I do.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_09I beat a general. You had to stop doing that because you were General Mills.
SPEAKER_10Yeah. Well, no, no, no. I could be duh General Mills. Duh General. But I could not be General Mills. That's why it changed to Du General. Exactly right. Yeah. I'll never forget having the argument with the guy from General Mills.
SPEAKER_11I I talked with a representative from General Mills.
SPEAKER_10You gotta quit using that. No, we're not General Mills. We are. Yeah, that's exactly what he said. And it it was funny. I mean, you would think you might get a phone call, and because I got call I got a call from somebody claiming to be Wolfman Jack and told me how much he loved me, you know. But um, but this guy uh he came into the radio station. It was in Texas. We were on the main thoroughfrayer through Texas. Yeah. Uh I 20, I think it was, and he came in. Uh, you can't use General Mills. I said, Well, that's my name. It's literally my name. I just got my driver's line, I'll show you. I didn't say General on there, he said. But yeah, he showed me his credentials. I had to show him mine, so I took it. I went from that to Dud General. Dud General. But that was after he left, which is D A, the first two letters of my middle name, which is what I normally go by here. Exactly. So yeah. But I I got away with using Dud General for years after. Nowadays they want you to do that because it's product recognition. It is. You know product recognition. Alright, so I'm getting ready to play a song, and you're going through this whole rigmarole about this song I'm getting ready to play. Yeah. Dear Winter.
SPEAKER_09Dear Winter. Yeah. So this is a song. This is not normal. This is a man singing about his child that has not been born.
SPEAKER_10His unborn child.
SPEAKER_09Not even conceived. Because he has to meet his mother. He hasn't even her mother.
SPEAKER_10He hasn't done that yet.
SPEAKER_09He hasn't met the mother yet. That's amazing to me. I love it. It's kind of cool. And the artist is AJR. I J AJ R. I have no idea who AJR is. It's too bad. I've just always loved this song.
SPEAKER_10Sub Ben Ridd's not here because she would let us know. Yeah, she would.
SPEAKER_11She would definitely.
SPEAKER_10Alright, well, here is AJ, and I kind of check on time. Oh, we're good on time. Here's AJR and Dear Winter. I I think I'm gonna love this song anyway, too. Yeah. I think it's here.
SPEAKER_12I hope they don't make fun of you when you grow up and go to school, okay? Cause winter is a badass name. Dear Winter, I hope you talk to girls or boys or anyone you like. I just hope you don't stay in every night. Cause I wish I was out tonight. It really doesn't seem like there's anyone for me. But dear winter, I hope you like today. I'm hoping that someday I can meet you on this earth. But shit, I gotta meet your mom first. Dear Winter, I hope you like this song. And even when you're 13 and you scream at me for parenting you wrong. I hope it's still a badass song. It really doesn't seem like there's anyone for me. But dear Winter, I hope you like your name. You know I cannot wait to teach you how to curse. But shit, I gotta meet your mom first. Dear Winter, don't move too far away. And please don't say I'm hovering when I text you to ask about your day. I wanna hear about your day. When I'm no longer in charge, oh dear Winter. I hope you like your night. I hope you let me take a shot with you on your 21st. But shit, you gotta ask your mom first. Dear Winter, I'm looking for your mom. I gotta find a girl that doesn't mind that I'm inside my head a lot. Winter, it won't be too long. First, I just gotta find your mom.
SPEAKER_10So he may have a girlfriend, we don't know. But he's still looking for the mother of his child. And he's singing to the child and the unborn child that he hasn't that hasn't even even been conceived yet. My head is blown. So you were talking about Jerry a little bit too. So she has a playlist that she uses.
SPEAKER_09That's what Jerry's songs were. Seventies easy listening. That's her entire playlist.
SPEAKER_10I like seventies easy listing stuff, but not making my entire playlist.
SPEAKER_09No, not my entire listing. No. So anyway, that's always been her playlist. And I was cleaning the kitchen one time. And we were listening to Jerry's playlist, and this song happened to come up on the playlist. And I thought, ooh, that's a really good song. So I'm gonna add it to mine. So Jerry in all of our arguing about who has the play better playlist, which it's obvious it's me, obviously. Um I have to give her kudos because this song comes from Jerry.
SPEAKER_10And it's by a guy by the name of Leon Bridges. Leon Bridges? Who uh I'm not familiar with either. No. I did hear part of the song and and you know, pulling putting all this stuff together. And uh I yeah, I kinda like it too. Yeah. So alright, I guess uh we're we're about out of time anyway. Yeah. Ken, thank you for uh coming out. I think I have you scheduled again for later in the month, but we'll we'll see what all goes down. Um I'm excited to talk to Ren in Japan. Uh this is KSJE. It is the wake-up call, and it's exclusively in radio on KSJE, but it's worldwide at InterWestconcepts.com. That's all one word case. Who originally set that webpage up was a guy sitting over here with me. Who? Ken, yes indeed. I was all so upset when you sold out or gave up. You didn't sell out, you gave it away. But you may take it back. All right, well listen, Ken, thanks for taking time out of your Sunday reaction. Oh, I love it, man. A Sunday for a change. And uh, I hope to see you again soon. We're gonna have some fun for sure. And mail encounters, we're looking for it. It's coming back, baby. It's coming back.
SPEAKER_05Don't want to get ahead of myself. Feeling things I'm never fell. It's kind of hard for me to explain her personality and everything bring it to my knee. She's shining it up like gold on my own. I wanna take it slow, but it's so hard. I love to see her face today like It's more than just a body than she's really tempting Do you think I'll be fooling to follow my feet? That the love is real that should my face She might just be my everything out of the life Pussy and my kids, but she be my wife, she might just be my everything I wanna bring her to each other thinking like a country I know that we're not walking up she was a hole She makes me feel it whole Do you think I'm beautiful my face She might just be my everything She might just be my every face be my Just be my big shoe might be just be my everything might just be my everything Well shoot over already?
SPEAKER_01No need to panic, Ren, and David will be back next week, same WUC time, same WUC station. All right, I gotta say all rights reserved for K SJ E and W C. I'm Zeb McCluskey, and until next time. Excellent to each other.
