And now for something completely different.

SPEAKER_06

The wake-up call on K SJE.

SPEAKER_00

Hello, Kenneth! Hello. You're supposed to go. Hello. Listen, I gotta tell you, we're I'm loving your blue sh first of all, let me just say this. Uh you know, I let kind of Ren's back, but uh yeah, she's back, but we're I'm gonna let her take a little bit of a break. She did a show with me last week, and she needs some time to get all her stuff together. She's fresh back. So anyway, and we're putting her in a raft. So that'll be coming up. A raft? Yeah, a raft. We're gonna do a little Desert River Guide show. Live, we got the microphone. As a matter of fact, I left them out for you to look at see for your approval. I think it's still sitting there. Yeah. Anyway, um I just want to say a nice blue shirt. Thank you. It doesn't matter your blue eyes. Blue is my favorite color. You know, it is mine. It depends on my mood. Yeah, I like blue. I mean, sometimes you feel a little blue. Yeah, I I feel a little blue.

SPEAKER_06

It doesn't make me blue, it makes me happy.

SPEAKER_00

That's interesting. We'll need to discuss that more. Let's get into the show. What do you say?

SPEAKER_01

WC is making it even hotter with some great tonnage. Uh I I mean tonnage. Sorry, Dave, didn't mean to bring you into this. Sit back, grab a cup of something, and crank it up. WC is on the air exclusively on KSJE.

SPEAKER_04

Why can you be blue over the lead? Oh, can you do big? What enough is put a lot of people over me. Why can't you be blue? Over me.

SPEAKER_06

Oh my I wanted to sing that last note, but I can't reach it.

SPEAKER_00

No kidding. And you know, um, and I and I I I'm not trying to steal any thunder, but I want to talk a little bit about this song. Yeah. When I first when you first pulled it out, honest to God, I thought it was Patsy Klein. Yeah. Um but that wasn't the case. And you've got a great story about how it ended up with Leanne.

SPEAKER_06

When I first heard this song, I thought she was doing a Patsy Klein cover. Right, right. That's what I thought when I first was listening to it. I thought that's Patsy Klein. She does sound like Patsy Klein.

SPEAKER_00

She does a great job.

SPEAKER_06

And so I started looking for the original. That's the original. So what happened was Bill Mac in the 50s, he's a massive DJ. And I think we used to play his music his show here. And so he was a big DJ in Texas. And he wrote this song before passing. Before he could get it to her. Or before she could perform it somewhere. And so he just held on to the song. Many years later.

SPEAKER_00

That's a great tune. And she sounds a lot like really. But I'm not a blue. I mean, I do like blue, but not during football season. And that's coming up. It is. And I am a Kansas City Chief fan, so I primarily I I do a lot of red, man. You do? I do. Well, maybe blue's not your color. Well, maybe not. Let's let's let uh let's let Keith Herman talk about it.

SPEAKER_04

See you over there, staring at your drink, watching that I sink all alone tonight. And chances are you're sitting here in this bark because he ain't gonna treat you right. Well, it's a problem, not my place, but I'm gonna say it anyway. Cause you look like you hadn't felt the fight, had a little fun, hadn't had a smile in a little while, baby. Looks good on the sky. Looks good on that mean bows and on the wall, but darling it don't match your eyes. I'm telling you, you don't need that guy. He's stealing your thunder. Baby blue ain't your color. I'm not tryna I'll be another, just pick you up. Kinda guy tryna drink you up, tryna take you home. But I just I don't understand how another man can take your son and turn it ice cold. Well, I've had enough to drink, and it's making me think that I just mind Tell you If I were a painter, I wouldn't change it. I just paint you bright, baby. Cause blue looks good on the sky. Looks good on that neombus and on the wall, but darling, don't match your eyes. I'm telling you, you don't need that guy. It's a black and white, it's stealing your thunder. Baby blue ain't your color. Oh no, no.

SPEAKER_03

But darling, it don't match your eyes.

SPEAKER_04

I'm telling you, you don't need that guy. So black and white, he's stealing your thunder. Baby blue ain't your color. Blue ain't your color. Come in, baby. Let me light up your doing their best.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the best they got anyway for WUC on KSJE.

SPEAKER_02

Song, song, blue, everybody knows one. Song, song, blue, everybody grows one. Me and you are subject to the blues now and then. But when you take the blues and make a song, you sing them out again. You sing 'em out again. Stone, stone, blue, weeping like a willow. Stone, stone, blue, sleeping on my willow find everything, but you can't sing it with a cry in your voice. At that point, no one gets a feeling good.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh, that's a you know what that's one of my all-time favorites. Other than another one, too, the one that uh um Oops, I don't want to play yet. I love that the win was here last week. But um the other one where everybody always uh sings along. Um the mic's not on and all the microphones on, and we shouldn't be talking about it. What were you talking about? You had some kind of explanation about this. Oh, you'd seen the movie. I love that movie.

SPEAKER_06

Right, yeah. Yeah. So I did not want to watch that movie because I didn't know anything about it. I thought they cast Hugh Jackman to play Neil Diamond. And I was like, are you insane? No, I'm not watching that. No. And then I learned it's not that. No, it's it's something different. And I reluctantly went into it. And by the end of it, I was crying. It was amazing.

SPEAKER_00

It's a great and the lady, the lady that plays with him, um Kate Hudson. Oh, I and Ren might have done a rant on it. I don't know. Um but yeah, I was the same way. I didn't want to watch it, and I watched a little bit of it, and then I went on to something else. I just thought it was weird seeing him as you know, just kinda but then I thought, well, I'll try it again, maybe because Ren had done a rant rant on it. And I just fell in love. I mean, it it's it's just sad, it's exaggerating, but yeah. A guy was obsessed with uh diamond. It's awesome. Yeah, recommended. Yeah, highly. Listen, these we're so I'm not sure what we're gonna call the show, but it's all about blue. Is it really though? I don't know. Hold on. The next song I got coming up here, I believe, is uh what is it? Uh Midnight Blue. What I I don't know.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, it could be a show about blue, I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

With all the songs you gave me, there's we got some Roseanne Cash, which is another one that I love. Yeah, you know. Anyway, Ken, I appreciate you. You're you're great coming to drop in that. Plus, uh, we want to let everybody know too. We'll be doing Milk is coming back, and the first episode's gonna release here pretty quick. So be looking for that, and the best thing to do is just head over to the webpage. Um T W E Let's see if I can remember how to spell it. I and T W E S T, right? I and T E R. I and T E R. Yeah. W-E-S-T. C-O-N C E P T S. There you go. I'd like it better when Ren's over here.

SPEAKER_06

Like, don't blame me with that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I can. You probably would too, I'm sure. Here's the lesson, Chester. And it's the wake-up call. I'm so glad you're along with us.

SPEAKER_04

Whatever it is to the morning. Even if we come, how do we have enough? One more time. All the time, you told me you need something for you. It's like we're gonna make it from You're in another dimension entirely.

SPEAKER_01

It's the middle ground between insanity and craziness. This is the WUC zone, exclusively on KSJE.

SPEAKER_04

Blue moon out my window. Guess this means good night. Then you come in and start writing not treating me right. Misery is a ball, and all its company. I'll play the victim for you, honey, but not for free. I run into that heart ache just like wall. Nothing happened to me. Nothing at all Lately I'm amazed how blind we can be Lately one dreaming feels like old reality. What would I give? To be dumb. What's up is to bring back those old child What did I say to make you this way? For the baby I'll just go to day. You know that life don't hold no clam anymore. How can it all look so right and feel so wrong? I'll play the victim for you, honey, but not for long What would I give to be a diamond in your eyes again? What would I give to bring back those old channels? What did I say to make your past turn up this way? Maybe I'll just go away today. Maybe I'll just go away. Maybe I'll just go away. Maybe I'll just go away today. Maybe I'll just go away. Maybe I'll just go away. Maybe I'll just go away.

SPEAKER_00

Roseanne Cash, man. Now you know whose daughter that is, right? I do not. Really? Johnny? Yes. Are you are you just being silly or done?

SPEAKER_06

I mean, how many other people you know named Cash? Exactly. But now you did not know. I didn't know that was his daughter. It had to be related.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, who's his daughter? Him and um June. June Carter Cash. But the other one that you did not know about either was um what did I say? Oh, Crystal Gall. Who was her sister, do you know? I know now. Miss Loretta Land.

SPEAKER_06

That's amazing.

SPEAKER_00

And you know, and I and I think I've told the story before about meeting Loretta Lynn. You did? Yeah, I mean, and but I didn't know it was her. I was so I was a young punk and I was working in a Westernware store, and the guy was there wanting his wife, he was getting his wife a down company down coat for Christmas, big expensive thing at the time. And you know, I said, was anybody in here? He didn't know what size. Anybody here? He says, Ah, that lady right there. I'll have this gal come over pigtails, you know, and a random woman that looks vaguely familiar. She had an old leather vest with some fringe, a little short woman, moccasins and everything, right? Yeah. And uh I had no clue. And I she tried it on, she said, sure, but the minute she tried it on, she left. Some guy comes to the front door after that. We're at the counter and he goes, Hey, when you get that coat home, you tell her, you tell your wife that Loretta Lynn tried it on. That was Bo, whoever it was to do. That's awesome. I said, Well, we're doing blue related tunes, and I'm excited because you know, I don't, I just there's something about me and Willie Nelson that just get along. And you picked all the sorts of Willie. There it goes. I don't have blue eyes, but my brown eyes are twilight glow.

SPEAKER_05

I know we never need dying. No parts.

SPEAKER_03

Don't wish it away. Don't look at it like it's forever. Between you and me, I could almost perceive that things can only get better. And what's the time to say, I don't want to be able to do it.

SPEAKER_06

Dude, you were just belting it out.

SPEAKER_00

I was just getting ready to belt it out. Was it on key though? That was the problem. I always afraid it's pretty close. It was close only counts and hand grenades and horseshoes, wasn't it? Hey, it's KSJE. This is the wake-up call, and uh and I always like it when it's Ken with Rin, because you know it's kind of a rhyming thing. Ken sitting in for Ren. Rin's uh she's back, but she's kind of letting her kind of regroup. We're gonna put her in a raft. I think uh that's either this week or the the next week or the following week, but yeah, yeah, she's gonna go down the raft uh with a whole bunch of set of equipment so we can be able to hear everything better and all that kind of cool. Anyway, you were talking about Elton, and I didn't you know I've been in radio my entire life. And I didn't know half of this. I didn't know that he was I didn't know that he was straight to begin with. Number one, I thought he was always gay. Yeah, he was in the closet, so obviously for quite a while he was getting you told me he was getting ready to get married.

SPEAKER_06

So the song we were talking about because I love Elton John's music, I do and um not one of them in particular. Someone somebody saved my life tonight. That song breaks my heart. And partly because I know the background behind that. So he wrote that song after he was actually he was in the closet, he was he was engaged to be married to this woman. I think it was in the secretary or something like that. But he was gonna marry this woman.

SPEAKER_00

Um I never thought that I knew that. I couldn't believe it when you were doing it. Today we're kind of doing all blue stuff. That's why that's almost I guess that's why they call it the blue stuff. Um and you picked out some really, really good stuff. I I I I love all of it. And uh there uh we did pull oh, I want to end with one in particular, but we did pull another one that it's been remastered. I want to play that one as well. I'm not playing yet until we get there, but uh I I'm digging all of this stuff. So uh nice job on doing all of that. Uh and I also want to remind everybody uh Mail Encounters of the Lifekind is coming back. Matter of fact, there'll be a show releasing here shortly. Just go to my webpage, innerwestconcepts.com. All one word all over the case. We would love to have you uh be an avid listener to their I don't know if you know this, but all our past shows are on there now. I saw that uh from uh from Mail Encounters, and we did that for how long we did it. A couple of years. Um we did for a couple of years. It's been a couple years since we did it, but uh we did I don't know, we did several shows. I mean a couple years worth.

SPEAKER_06

At least two years, two seasons.

SPEAKER_00

But um we're we're gonna we're gonna try to stay on really deep male subjects this time and I my fault we kind of branched off and share this stuff, but we never had a plan. We were sitting in a bar and we were drinking and yeah it always went off the rails again. Which we'll do that on this show too, right? The first show though, I think we're gonna discuss a little bit about the inner circle kind of thing, random men and you and I've had deep, in-depth conversations about all right. Well, listen, I'm enjoying this. We're just gonna call this blues. No, no, no. Blue. Blue. We're just gonna call it blue. That's the name of the show. The opening song, the name of the show. Exactly. Blue. I hope we don't get in trouble for franchise rights or something. All right, well, here we go with another blue eyes. And it's not the one crying in the rain. No. This one I don't think I've ever heard of. I may have heard this song. I'll know what I can start. I have heard of it. It's uh Carrie Brothers, is that right? Yeah. All right, well, here we go. Let's give it a shot, see what happens. Coming up too, I got things that make you go, hmm.

SPEAKER_04

Tell you lie when the broad tone screams of take the tragic scene. I just won't stay with you. I just won't take it out of you and switch the hair. I have you stay. Tell me how to get the stone with you.

SPEAKER_01

Having a great time with WC and channeling my inner tigger. Holy on K SJE.

SPEAKER_04

I feel so glad I got a woman. I'm so lonesome since I'm baby high. Looking till the sun don't shine. Looking forward to the happy time by you. Come going back someday. Come back to Boo Bye Where the Fox of Fan, and the world is mad on too bad. Where the fish is bounced, where the flood Every Sun to sleep. I'm going back someday. Come back to buy you. We're the fuck a fight and the world is fine on to buy you. We're the fish and dog, with the bell to float, and I couldn't let the sleepy up here by that time the sound moon and the time of some sweet day gonna take away this time. Will I never be blue? My dreams come true.

SPEAKER_00

Was that live or member right? I threatened. I finally did it. I I did it, kid. Well, listen, there's a segment that uh that I that we do uh that I haven't done with you, uh, but I've got to do this. It's just well here, let me I've got this professional zip has made us here. Let's do this.

SPEAKER_01

Things that make you go. Here's David with things that make you go hmm. All your money back.

SPEAKER_00

How much money did you pay to get in today, kid? Nothing.

SPEAKER_06

So I'm getting nothing back. That's what you're trying to do.

SPEAKER_00

That's exactly yeah. Alright, well, we kind of got a blue theme going, right? Blue. Yeah. Just blue. That's what we're gonna call it. Blue. Blue. Alright, so one of my favorite all-time characters on Sesame Street is solid blue. Solid blue. And munches cookies. And munches cookies. Cookie monster.

SPEAKER_06

Cookie monster.

SPEAKER_00

Did you know he's got a real name? I did not know until I saw this thing that makes me go. He has a real name. Yeah, nobody can replace it. Listen to that song with that in mind. Oh my gosh, I'm going to now. Absolutely. So interesting. Alright, so we got some more songs. You know what? Let's do another. I got how about Almond Brothers? I've got one that we're gonna end the song with. It's one of my all-time favorites. Which we it's uh Loretta sister. It is. But we're gonna end with here's some Almond Brothers right now. How about that?

SPEAKER_04

Listen, Ken, I thank you for sending in. I mean, I really, really appreciate it. Uh we're about out of time. I I do want to mention the fact that uh you're coming back pretty strong with some, but it's a limited kind of deal. And we'll we'll get more into that too. Be sure to be listening for milk. Blue.

SPEAKER_04

SPEAKER_01
