Show Notes

In Episode 2 of Law & The Body Politic, Professor Adam Winkler and I explore the steady and inexorable expansion of the civil rights of corporations from the founding of the United States up to the recent Supreme Court decisions in Citizens United and Hobby Lobby. Professor Winkler discusses this history in rich detail in his book “We the Corporations--How American Businesses Won Their Civil Rights."

Professor Winkler is a specialist on American Constitutional Law at UCLA. Prior to joining the UCLA faculty in 2002, he was the John M. Olin Fellow at the University of Southern California Law School’s Center in Law, Economics and Organization. “We the Corporations,” published in 2018, was a finalist for the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, the American Bar Association's Legal Gavel Award, the California Book Award, and received the Scribes Award. Professor Winkler is also the author of Gunfight: The Battle over the Right to Bear Arms in America (2011).

You can get  “We the Corporations” at your library,  at your local bookstore or online at Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
