Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Welcome to the first episode of The Video Games Debate Show, a new debate-style format from the NickMoses05 Gaming Podcast.
NickMoses05 is joined by TEKKENBLACKEST for three rounds of gaming arguments, hot takes, and real conversation around where the video game industry is heading.
Round 1 starts with the Philippines temporarily blocking GoreBox after a deadly school shooting, raising the question: should violent video games ever be banned after real-world violence, or is that just lazy politics?
Round 2 moves into Xbox Game Pass and whether the subscription model is actually saving gamers money, or slowly training players to stop buying games altogether.
Then in the Final Round, Nick and TEKKENBLACKEST debate GTA 6, digital downloads, code-in-a-box releases, physical collectors, $100 editions, and whether Rockstar could be pushing gaming closer to the death of physical media.
This episode also gets into digital convenience, midnight releases, game ownership, collector’s editions, scalpers, GTA Online money, fighting games, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, and why some gamers are fully done with physical copies while others still want something real on the shelf.
Three rounds. Three debates. No safe answers.
You could be anywhere else in the world. You're here with your boy Nick Motis05. Dat me up, Harry Knuckles, and it's all Okay. Y'all know what we're trying to do. We always trying to bring something new, something refreshing. Every single time. And today, we are bringing first episode of video game debates. I'm gonna be honest. We're gonna be continuing this. I'm gonna have multiple episodes of it. So here you go. First episode of video game debates. Now, I got with me my dog today, okay? I got somebody who's gonna go through each one of these questions with me. If you are in the chat, burn the damn chat up, okay? But I'm with my dog. Tekken Blackest.
SPEAKER_03Yo, yo, yo, yo. Yo, what's going on, Moses family? What's going on, Moses family?
SPEAKER_06I'm chilling, man. How you feeling?
SPEAKER_03I'm all right, man. Just bullying. Just chilling out, sitting outside in the tent, man. Ready to ready to have this debate. Like the topic.
SPEAKER_06You know what I'm saying? I I love that, man. Somebody, first one, I like it to be you, man. We've already, you know, I hit you up long ago. It's been long overdue. You know what I mean? I was like, yo, we gotta get to it, man. So yo. Hey, you know, I don't want to hold everybody too much up. All right, but I'm gonna let y'all know how it's gonna go. We're gonna have round one, okay, for the first question. Round two for the next question, and then final round for the last question. All right, man. So, my man, TB, are you ready? Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, man. We're gonna go ahead and kick it off with round one. Yeah, now it was supposed to say fight. I'm mad it didn't get the fight out. You know what I mean? Like it left me hanging. That was kind of but it's all good. We're gonna go ahead and see. It's all good and uh get straight into it, man. I'm gonna go ahead and play a little video right alongside of it. Everybody let me know. You can see it on screen. If you have any trouble hearing, viewing, anything, please let us let us know. Burn up the damn chat. All right, but we starting with a little serious one today, all right. So the Philippines temporarily, okay, and I don't like the way this looks. Hold on, we gotta pull me up a little bit bigger. You know what I'm saying? Down in the corner like that, man. Can we get a little mix or something? Can we do a little side by six? There you go. All right, there we go. Okay, and I might do the video. There we go. I like that. There we go. Yeah, all right. That's perfect. Okay, so now the Philippines temporarily blocked the online game Gore Box. All right, after a deadly shooting at San Jose National High School in Taclaban City. Now, three students were unalived and 20 others were wounded. Authorities said one of the teenage suspects was an avid user of the game Gore Box. And officials are now looking into whether the game, the online content, violent online communities, any of this may have a role into influencing the attack. But this is where it gets complicated. All right, I gotta say this. Gets a little complicated here. Police also said suspects claimed that they were retaliating after being bullied. Weapons reportedly came from adults connected to law enforcement, security. One gun, uh, one gun came from an auntie. All right, that's how real it got. And she was a police officer. Nonetheless, bad security at a school with 1,600 students. So, I would like to ask the first question of video game debates. Should violent video games ever be banned after real world violence, or do you consider that lazy politics?
SPEAKER_03TB, on you. Uh, me personally, just by hearing it just now, like I don't, I mean, personally, I don't think violent video games should go anywhere. Cause regardless of the fact violence is just gonna be here, regardless of whether it be any type of media, video games, movies, music, it really don't matter. But I feel that if the if said crime had to do or had a direct correlation with said game, then maybe something could be done, but I don't think that it should just automatically be taken off the off the chopping block just because a crime happened. We we uh there's no way to actually prove that that kid was directly influenced by that video game to commit said crime. So I don't I don't think that it should be taken off the chopping block at all. I mean, and and honestly, besides besides sex, violence sells the most. So, you know, it's a it's a it's a huge moneymaker.
SPEAKER_06No, you preaching, man. You know what? This is gonna be one we actually fully a hundred percent agree on, my dog. Like, I think if you're going to treat video games like banning them, first of all, I don't agree with the government banning the game. I'm gonna just say that first. I don't agree with that, but it's because they have an ongoing investigation still. Okay, but I don't agree with that because I feel like if you can do that, then you should be able to do that to movies, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, rap music, exactly.
SPEAKER_06We could go on and on, and uh I remember Eminem had a line, bro, and I'm gonna try to. He said, uh, I was at this Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, and I seen him shooting all sorts of these mother lovers with an Uzi. I seen three little kids up in the front row screaming, go with a 17-year-old uncle. I asked guidance, ain't they got the same mom and dads who got mad when I asked if they liked violence? Right, steep, you know what I'm saying? Like it's true, like they complained at his music. They would oh, he was the reason these kids are acting like this. He is the so-and-so, and it just it just continues on. They push the goalposts nonstop. And in 2020, I think it was um I don't know the name of the damn society, but I believe they did a study, and it wasn't linked, wasn't no video games wasn't linked to violence. So, bottom line, nah, man. I think they wow for that, man.
SPEAKER_03I mean, and you gotta think about it. The uh, we uh we've had a plethora of violent video games come out throughout the decades. So, you know, uh I I wouldn't I'll probably say Mortal Kombat starting that all off. I'm not too sure if that was like the first one, but Mortal Kombat within the realm of starting that all off, and then you got GTA in the further years and all of this good stuff, and all of this stuff still sells top of the list, top, top, top dollar. So, I mean, I don't think you can ban it, and and on top of that, I mean the internet period, you would have to ban the internet period because again, the media it doesn't really matter what media it is, violence is gonna be there. So, you know, yeah, can't really do that.
SPEAKER_06This was this is one that I I figured when it when it came across to me and I seen the news, I was just amazed in the Philippines they took it serious like that. Like I could not imagine right now, you know, Illinois, right now, I'm representing Chicago, and next thing you know, you know, we ain't gonna talk about shootings in Chicago, we know how that goes. You know what I'm saying? So if they just said, like, hey man, we pulling Call of Duty off the rack. Oh no, man. Call of Duty, do you know how many people in the military gonna be pissed? Yeah, oh man, they look for that to let off the steam. Oh no, they crazy. My man Jackie Robinson Bam Bugs Bunny because he shoots Daffy Duck in the face with a shotgun. Okay, Jack Robinson. I'm with you. How what else are we gonna do? No, I'm saying what we gonna do. Hey, we can't come out with Mortal Kombat 3 no more. It's too much violence. Can't have Marvel movies, right? You know, they you know I'm saying I think this was an easy one. This is one that we ain't even gotta waste too much time on. See, I like that. Hey man, a nice, nice one, simple and easy.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I understand why they did it because you know, I I would say I don't really know what's going on in the Philippines. I don't live there, I've never been there, uh and I really don't follow the culture that much, but I would assume that they take violence a little bit more serious than we do over here in the U.S. I would say me being a U.S. citizen, we uh violence is taken pretty loosely over here. There's not really much done uh depending on who you are or what your status is in the society. I mean, something may be done, but a lot is not done here in the U.S. But I will understand why they would take it off over there or why they would quote unquote ban it uh in their societies. They trying to keep their society in a in a certain in a certain way amongst eyes of certain eyes. So it's understandable, but I mean if anything like that happens over here, there's gonna be an uproar.
SPEAKER_05Oh, it's an uproar, man.
SPEAKER_03Those type of video games just make too much money over here, so like it is it'll be a complete takeover, it'll be a complete rage.
SPEAKER_06And some folks just fools, like it's just they love the game so much, like they'll walk up to Trey Art office with strapped, you know what I'm saying? Release it, you know what I'm saying? Playing so nonetheless, I'm with you on that. Man, let's go ahead. We're gonna go ahead and move on to the next one. Round two fight. There you go. We got the fight. Yeah, that's what I was waiting on. So go ahead and play. Let's see the video play on the side, not do me right video. Don't do me no injustice. Okay, like you know, just okay. There we go. Oh, you know what? I'll pull the video up big on screen. Okay, this one was one that I actually wanted to dive deep on, right? Because it's something that I've always thought about, and I figure when we start this debate podcast, we gotta be forward thinking. We gotta start talking about things before they get talked about, right? We gotta dive deep. So, Xbox Game Pass. So, Game Pass was supposed to be one of the most consumer-friendly ideas in gaming. You pay one monthly price and you get access to huge library of games for a lot of gamers, especially people who can't pay $60 to $100 for games, right? To access a huge library of games, they'd rather just do Xbox Game Pass. That makes a lot of sense. Get more games for less. But where we want to dive on this conversation is to shift, because at some point, Game Pass did a little more than just save people money. I may argue that it actually stopped and trained us to stop buying games. So the question is, did Xbox Game Pass save gamers money? Or did it train us to really stop buying games? So I'll go ahead and uh you know lead this one off. You know, this one was it was simple and tough, I'ma say, on one side, it was very simple. Game pass saves gamers money. Simple. That is easy to understand, that I can agree on, and the reason I will say it saves gamers money is because you get access to a huge library of games for a much cheaper price. So in that sense, it saves you money. But I could argue that it also could cost you more money in the end. There are some people like myself who typically buy and purchase physical copies of games, and I would I would buy like two to maybe three a year. Okay, maybe three with stretching. Only two. I'm the type of guy that I only need two games to hold me over for the year. So now, if I pay Game Pass, let's say I'm paying $25 a month, I'm already exceeding the amount that I would pay for those two to three games. So therefore, they make more money. So I tell myself, why would I buy a game now? I got Game Pass. I don't need to do it. I actually believe there's a small part that actually Microsoft knows a hundred percent. I ain't looked this up, I ain't got it in front of me, but I've I'll bet my life on it. Microsoft makes billions of trillions, right? They got enough people to know psychology, and they know that if we can get people to not purchase games and to buy into a subscription model, we're gonna be more successful financially. And the consumer is probably gonna wind up paying more in the end. So I do think 120% Microsoft is, and if anybody wants to prove, you know, I want to find documentation that say Microsoft didn't know. Because I swear if I look it up, Microsoft knows it is no way in hell Microsoft do not know that gamers are not buying games as much because of Game Pass. So I think they are training us, but at the same time, they aren't saving us money. So you gotta be strong. But Microsoft's smart at this. TB on you.
SPEAKER_03I would agree in a sense. Uh I would say Microsoft is definitely saving us money. Um, me, myself personally, I am a guy who is more into uh the digital aspect of buying video games. Um I fell out of love with buying physical copies probably it's definitely before COVID. It's definitely before actually 2015. Honestly, uh I just don't like to buy physical copies anymore. It's it's a it's a waste, honestly. In my opinion, I feel that it's a waste uh when when the whole uh what do you want to call it, the whole uh camp out and wait for it kind of thing happened. Um I I am about to be 38 years old, sir. Uh I do not camp out for anything. Uh that includes another passion of mine, which is sneakers. I do not camp out for anything. I choose not to, I don't want to. Um I'd much rather sit on my butt on the on the on the couch and uh just basically pick that game up without even having to leave my couch. I can and and sometimes some of those games, some of those companies, they drop games at like uh let they'll do like a 12 o'clock release or something like that, and you have it on, you already, it's already digital, it's already downloaded. So as soon as 12 o'clock get there, as soon as one o'clock get there, you don't gotta go to a store. You you just you're right there, it's already there, it's already downloaded, you've already paid your money. You don't gotta worry about something happening to you in a line that you're waiting in, uh, you know what I'm saying? Because people crazy nowadays. So, you know, it's I say it's a safer option in today's society. You don't gotta again, you don't gotta worry about something happening to you in a line, or you're you're just waiting to go get something innocent, just like the rest of everybody else, but then you got some crazy guy out here who just wants it more than everybody else, so he's willing to do anything to get it. So, you know, I avoid that.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I'm with you, man. I'm with you on part of it. You gave up now, you're 38. So you know about physical. You was there when it wasn't a digital, right? You was there, you had to go to the store. Same thing, 42, right? So same thing, it was physical, and I can say the last game that I and I got video of it. I might have to put this up to show folks. I ain't never released a video, but I stood in line at a GameStop for Mortal Kombat. I want to say either nine or ten. And it was a midnight release, and now you know it ain't like one of those Pokemon titles, so it ain't like this long line. We ain't waiting long. You know what I mean? They come in, they let us in, we get the game, we're going home, we're home by 12:30, right? Yeah, so nonetheless, that experience it brought a nostalgia feel. But the what you spoke about, I agree with the pros. Okay, because having digital, yes, midnight, you don't got it. Matter of fact, I do you one better. It might be 11 o'clock. You might be playing it. You know what I'm saying? You never know. It might say 12 o'clock Eastern. You might be playing it early. Other people next door can't even play it. Physical copies are also being released later, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06I I think that Microsoft, now they always, I think Microsoft is a head of the curve company. But let me ask, do you feel though that they are overall trying to stop you from buying games? Or do you think they're just overall they're not stopping you? They're just making things cheaper for everybody.
SPEAKER_03I think they're just giving us more options. Honestly, I think they I don't think they out to I don't think they out to do bad or harm anybody with trying to make them or persuade them into going a different direction about how they get in their video games. I'm just saying they they're giving us more options, they're giving us different ways to do it because you know some people are so they they gung-ho on what they like to do. So you got your crowd who loves to go out there, they want to continue to go get physical copies, and then you got your digital crowd who's like me. We don't want to have to deal with all of that stuff. We just want to have the game, don't got to worry about nothing. Snacks is already on the table. We got the slippers on, hoodie on, and we're ready to start going as soon as 12 o'clock hits. So we want to get the earliest possible start. So I and don't get me wrong, I I I like the hype of people actually going out and supporting the game by going out and getting a physical copy because back in the old days, you the the nostalgia was that midnight release. It was that, I mean, Halo midnight releases, Forza midnight releases, like it was a it was a thing. So, like, I don't I don't knock nobody for still going to go get physical copies, but it's just not me no more. I I can't do it no more.
SPEAKER_06I feel you on that. I can't even be mad at you for that. You know what I mean? So uh you know, and I'm I'm at this torn point. I've been I've said it live. Everybody know, okay, I've already switched over to digital, man. You know what I'm saying? So I have. So for me to talk, what I used to do, I used to buy physical. I I did. I switched over to digital because for me, I'm not a collector with a lot of things. Some things I do, but I'm not really a collector. So when I get it, I'm opening it and I'm just gonna leave it there. But I'm not trying to resell it, right? I'm gonna keep it. I might give it to somebody, I might somehow. So I'm not trying to really keep it. It's gonna be looking good, it's gonna be working, but I just really don't care to the point where it's like, man, I gotta buy a brand new, had a physical copy, and then I might resell it. I don't plan to resell my game, but what I don't like about digital is I feel like I'm buying in to the death of sharing video games. I'm buying in to the death of giving you the game. Say, hey man, holla at me next week, just bring it back. You know what I mean? Like I'm kind of killing it. You know what I mean? That's the way I feel, man. Yo, big shout out to my man Juan for the laughing disco. You know what I'm saying? Juan, big shout out to you, Dap up, my guy. You know what I'm saying? Good to see you, Juan. Burn up the chat, man. Burn up the chat. Let us know how you feel. You know what I mean? So you know, this one, I guess we, you know, we semi on both sides. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Now, don't get me wrong. Don't get me wrong. There are some things that I will still go out and buy the physical copy of. I I mean, let's say, let's say the Tekken 10 comes out tomorrow and it comes with uh uh the Kazuya foams, it comes with Jin Kazama foams, it comes with uh it comes with a cootie mask. I'm talking about physical things that I can wear, I can put on a wall. I'm all for that. But if it's if it's just the physical copy of the game and we got like an extra like a poster or something, nah, I could skip that post. I could I know how to draw, bro. I could just draw that poster if I really wanted to.
SPEAKER_05So you ain't lying, man.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, man. It got it just gotta be something physical that I could either wear or I could put on the wall somewhere, collectibles, something I could save for my kids, something like that. But no, no posters, no extra codes. Uh like we don't care about none of that no more. Give us something that we can actually put on our bodies.
SPEAKER_07And how about we make you make it better for digital?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and make prices better for digital, too. Yeah, that's another thing. Make prices better for digital.
SPEAKER_05I ain't out here buying that shit.
SPEAKER_06Y'all he in the background sound like he's mad. You know what I'm saying? He like, man, I ain't buying that shit. Look at my camera just wigged out, bro. Hold on. This all Always happens, bro. What the hell is going on? Look, hand is clear.
SPEAKER_03Look, let me do oh the focus. Yeah, there you go.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, let me fix the focus. Hold on. I gotta always do this, man. I hate this damn focus.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and honestly, I'm I'm not really too I'm not really too sure why uh Xbox did the whole up up the game pass price for ten dollars. Like we was at 25 for a hot minute, then we went up to like what 33, something like that, somewhere in that realm, and then it dropped back down to 25. So I I mean, I'm not too sure what happened there, but I'm I'm just glad I'm just glad they went back down to 25. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_05I think I know what happened, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and then and then the game pass, we paying all this money for the game pass, and the game pass don't got enough games on there that's living up to the name Game Pass. Like, we don't we gotta get some more exciting games on the game pass.
SPEAKER_06Yo, that's a fact right there.
SPEAKER_03That's a hundred and zombies. Like we don't like, yeah. Like I'm really not trying to play Planet versus Zombies for the for the next four weeks, bro. I'm not I'm not trying to do that. Like, we gotta get some more exciting games, jump back in that in that Xbox vault and and open it up and bring some of them old games back. Stop playing around, stop playing around. Y'all tried to y'all try to y'all try to reel in a nostalgic crowd by by making NBA the run. Nah, break that vault open, go back to that, go back to that EA big vault and open that up. Open that up.
SPEAKER_06You know, I mean, I remember playing, you know, Def Jam Vendetta. You know, I mean, what why we can't get Vandetta back with some updated. You can even bring back the old school rappers, man.
SPEAKER_03And then you and then you you you kind of you kind of spit in our faces making NBA NBA Street Home Court the only backwards compatible NBA Street game out of all of them. I don't even think I don't even think FIFA Streets was was backwards compatible. Like you could bring back the entire backwards compatibility list, and we might be somewhat satisfied with that. Somewhat satisfied with that.
SPEAKER_06He's talking, man. Now that might bring us right into our next one, man. Uh next one. This next one's gonna be hot since it came with it. I'm gonna wind up. I'm gonna I'm gonna break it down. I'm gonna I'm gonna set the table. You know what I mean? I'm gonna get it all ready, and then you can go on ahead and tear it up. But this next one, man, let's get to it. Final round. Final round, man. Now, I'm gonna go ahead and play the video as I go to the. Oh no, don't play no damn sound. What is wrong with you? No, you did not play sound. Hell no. Hell to the no. You don't ever play sound on me, bro. Don't ever disrespect me. No, I'm tripping. Here we go. Alright. Now, let's go ahead and play. Because the video is supposed to play side by side. Alright, we gotta get it. We're trying to get our professional thing going. You know, so now this is the final round. We always try to save the best for last. Alright, hopefully the light ain't too bright from the screen. Alright, because I know the screen's bright and I'm reading. I should change it to dark mode, but we're gonna leave it. Alright. So, final round GTA 6, man. We gotta talk about it. I think it's the hottest thing everybody's talking about right now, and we got late breaking news. For years, gamers have argued about digital games versus physical games, as we just did just a moment ago. Right? Some people love digital because it's convenient. You buy it, you download it, you play it, you got the midnight release. We just talked about it. You could possibly play at 11, but you still got physical collectors out there. They want the box, they want the disc. They still want an instruction manual, they want to put it on the shelf, and they might want to buy two. They might want to trade it, they might want to resell it, I might want to lend it to a friend. But I want to feel like I actually own something. Now, reports around GTA 6 sparked a huge conversation that is going on right now. What happens if physical copies are no longer physical anymore? What if you buy a box similar to what you do in Nintendo Switch 2 games now? You open it up and instead of it to a disc, you get a download code. Nasty work. Okay. So at some point, is it really a physical copy? Or is it a digital game wearing Mac makeup? You know what I mean? Like, and GTA 6 is the biggest game release I want to say ever in the world. I'm gonna be the one to say that, okay? I think it's the biggest game release ever in the world. Whatever Rockstar does, I think is going to influence the industry. So the question is, is GTA 6 by announcing that they plan on selling download codes instead of an actual physical copy when they release it. Do you think this is going to pave the way for killing physical games forever?
SPEAKER_03Do I think it's going to pave the way for killing physical copies? Um, I say it's a start. I don't know if it's going to completely do it. Like they may be the pioneers of the game, it may be somebody that comes along and just perfects what they're about to do in a more in a fair way. I'm speaking for the people who actually like physical copies. I would, I would say that's like a that's like a spit in our face. If it, like you said, it's it's it's it's Mac makeup, the best color palette. So, you know, um I I would definitely say that that would be a spit in those guys' face. I don't me personally, I don't have a problem with it. Uh like from my personal opinion, I would just tell everybody to suck it up because I mean you buy Windows like that. That's how you buy Windows now. Like you don't you don't go buy a physical copy of Windows anymore. You get a code, you get a key code, they send that to you via email, and it's basically the same thing. It's just a video game now. It's it's not so big. So in my personal opinion, I am all for this, but I would agree, I would have to be on the physical copy side with this one too. That would be a spit in our faces if they would promise us a physical copy and they give us a code. Um but again, it probably is kind of good business, though, that with all the hype behind this game. It's probably a business, a good business or marketing strategy, but I can't really speak on that. But hey, again, I I'm I might be on both sides here. Probably leaning more toward like my personal opinion, but I do stand with the physical copy guys in this one as well. Um, it would be a spit in their face. It it could for those who really love physical copies, they love to have something that they feel like they can own. I don't, I don't, I would, I would find it kind of insulting to own a code. I I don't I don't think that'd be good.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Uh I think we uh we're gonna agree. I'm getting on this one. Um I think it's it's slap in the face too. Like just to even to even mention selling something physical, but it comes with a download code just sounds disrespectful. You know what I mean? Like something about it, it's almost like you ordering a pizza but not getting a cheese. Like it's a it's a main ingredient, you know what I'm saying? Like, how could I not get the game? And there's a lot that comes with people who do. People who are getting that physical copy are mainly getting it. I believe those people are people who still believe that digital ownership is not true ownership, and I believe those people believe that physical is actual ownership, and that's why they seek out physical copies, unless they're a collector, they're a collector, you know. Uh uh more to you, you know, collect up, collect up, collect up. But I have seen many people like, yo, I'm gonna go buy it just in case the server down. You know what I'm saying? Just in case my the internet go out. I can still play as long as I got, you know, and I see other reasons for having the you know, internet slow, raw areas, you know, so you get these reasons still that you still need physical copies, but I agree if GTA 6 does this, which they've already announced it. They announced that they will on release day be selling GTA 6. I believe the original, and I want to pull up the exact how much. I believe it's going to be $79.99 for the standard price. All right, let me make sure. GTA, yes, $79 and uh $79.99 for the standard edition and $100 for the ultimate edition.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Now, what what comes in the ultimate edition that is $20 more.
SPEAKER_06Now, the ultimate edition includes the base game along with additional digital add-ons. Okay. Like the vintage Vice City Pack. That might be nice. End game weapons, skins, and vehicle bonuses. All right. So more seem like online. I think this might be more of an online. If you're gonna get into the GTA online, that probably would be your best bet. You probably gonna spend money. That's probably what you think anyway. Game $80, pay an extra 20. You got the digital stuff.
SPEAKER_03Okay. So that makes more sense.
SPEAKER_06It do. Now it's I'm gonna I'm gonna try to unpack it a little bit more. Let's say, because they do plan on selling physical copies later. That was their plan to still sell them, but they're gonna release later. So you might see physical copies in, you know, I don't want to even say December, January of 2027. Right? Let's just say something like that. If they were to sell physical copies for $100, do you think that people who want physical copies should be okay with that? Knowing that people are paying $80 for the digital. Do you think they would be okay with that?
SPEAKER_03Yes and no.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_03Yes, yes, because I feel like well, I'll I would say this. No, being that we just got that information, all that information that you just said, I would encourage everybody to first on release day buy a digital. And if you're a real collector, if you are a real physical game copy guy or gal, we're gonna see who's gonna go get it. We're gonna see who actually gonna go spend the money to go get the physical if they are real fans. I feel like this is gonna bring out real fans. I feel like more people should actually do things like this in other aspects, fashion, stuff like that. But it's gonna bring out the real fans who actually really is gonna pay the money to buy it twice. Because there are those people in the world who will buy it twice, no matter what. There's people who go see movies four and five times just because they uh I'm gonna go see Toy Story for the third time tomorrow.
SPEAKER_06Nah, he's spitting facts.
SPEAKER_03So like they do all the time, too. People buy things multiple times because they're huge fans. Like uh let's take the Star Wars crowd, for instance. They buy multiples of the same thing over and over and over and over again. Different uh all all different decades, uh, whether it's 50, 60, 70, 80, it don't even matter. They all buy the same stuff. Harry Potter fans also buy the same stuff over and over again. Mario fans, Street Fighter guys. Uh it honestly really doesn't matter to crowd, depending on how big of a fan that person is, they're gonna buy it. If it's in their budget, they're gonna buy it.
SPEAKER_06Ain't lying. Yo, and Malinko brought up a great point. I never thought of that, but I want to unpack that now that we got it up on screen. The rumor is they don't want scalpers shitting on the holidays. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Now, and that's another that's another big thing right there. Yeah, he's on to something for real.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you know, that's a smart plan. Now, if you release digital codes on release day, everybody who wants, which we know, it's most players who want to play GTA 6, they want to be a part of the now. They don't want to wait. Right? So people who want to play it are gonna buy it digitally. And I think I actually I I don't know though. This is why I'm gonna push back. Push back a little bit. Okay. What stops it from being scalped even when it gets released? People still want it. It's still gonna be GTA 6, the biggest game ever released. Ever. Even if you just bought it just to have a physical copy. What stops you? I mean, what you don't think maybe GTA 6, possibly the biggest game ever, bought brand new. You got to, hey, I got that, I got money, right? I got plenty of it. Man, I bought the digital, I'm about to go buy a physical too. What stops somebody from saying I want to buy three physical? You know what I'm saying? Like, yeah, but I do agree it curves it very hard because I agree. If I buy digitally, I ain't taking my ass back down getting the physical.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, nah. Nah. For what? So, yeah, we're not getting no t-shirts or nothing like that.
SPEAKER_05So why, why, nah, nah. With you, man, it ain't no point. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_03I promise you, if GTA 6 would have came with a GTA 6 t-shirt, everybody's gonna go get a physical copy after they go get a digital copy.
SPEAKER_06Facts. If it would have come with a t-shirt, they would have put CJ on it. Oh man. Oh, yeah, I gotta get to CJ, man.
SPEAKER_03I'm telling you, it's only gonna be letting CJ on the if games start coming with stuff that's physical, bro. People would people would fight more for physical copies. They would fight more for it. They will if it can't like if 2K came with a basketball with Ronnie 2K initials on it or signed by an NBA player, they're gonna go get that. Not only that, they're gonna sell that immediately because that player actually signed that. So it's like everybody's gonna be trying to buy that basketball. Or you spit jacks 007, 007 uh first light just came with a uh with a with a golden gun statue. I still I think I might go get that.
SPEAKER_06I ain't gonna lie, that look fly. I seen it and I heard it with the beginning too. I heard multiple people say the game fire. I already beat it, already beat it.
SPEAKER_03That's the reason why I'm not that's the reason why I'm not hitting 40 in 2K this season. I'll I played that.
SPEAKER_00I was playing that.
SPEAKER_06Oh man, you're about to make me go play it now. I gotta play it.
SPEAKER_03It's a very good game, bro. It's a very good game. The only gripe I have about the game, I would say, is the shooting could be a little bit better. Okay, just a tad, but it's on par. It's okay, it's cool. I can deal with it. But everything else about the game is is amazing. And I didn't even like when I when the game came out, I didn't even like look up anything. Like, I didn't even know there was a 007 game coming out until I found out about uh Avatar Legends getting a second pushback. So I'm like, man, uh there's another, yeah. So it was supposed to, it was supposed to be here June 9th, I think it was. Now it's coming out uh July 23rd, I think. Yeah, July 23rd. So I found out about that, and that's when I found out about double seven first light. And I'm like, okay, well, it's coming with a golden gun, or with Ultimate Edition coming with a golden gun or whatever the case is, but Lenny Kravitz is in that game. Oh yeah, let's clap it up, man. Lenny, I didn't even know that. I mean, I'm not I'm not a like a super fan of Lenny Kravitz. He got a couple songs that I like, but me neither, but seeing him in a game in the game, yeah.
SPEAKER_05I'm with you.
SPEAKER_06That's it.
SPEAKER_05Damn, man.
SPEAKER_06You know what I mean? Now Malinko. He said they haven't, and he he he Malinko, you might be on to some, but let's go ahead. He said, think about it, they haven't announced a solid collector's edition. All right, because we said the ultimate is all digital items as well, it's all different digital editions, including the retail variants right now. Four and five both had physical collectors editions. Six not having one is a huge mistake for them. And I yo, that I'm not gonna lie, I think it still might win. This is the reason I think it still might win. I think people are gonna double dip on GTA 6. I think this is one of the games, I think it's gonna be a huge double dip in price. There's gonna be so many people that bought this game twice. You will not believe that I think this is the game. And people are gonna be like, yo, I went back and bought another physical one, bro. You know what I'm saying? Hey, I wanted my brother to play it, he ain't had no money, so I bought one for him. We gotta get on. Like, I think it's gonna be that type of game. So I think even if they do physical, they still gonna sell out, still gonna bank, they still gonna charge. They can, like I mentioned the question earlier, if they charge a hundred dollars. I think I'm with you. I think that's fair for a physical game. Is yo, if you you you lucky to get one because they could have just said no, bro. And most people don't best biden took all the damn, like everybody just going away. Okay, they trying to go away from physical copies. That's just my opinion, man. I'm a lingo. The game, this game's going to print money regardless of what that's a fact. I agree with you. That's the point. Rockstar wants money, they can do a $200 collective edition in bank road. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Yeah, he part of the if I can do it, why not? In business, yes, that's true. In business, it's one of the things they say all the time. If I can do it, why not? If they're gonna pay $200, why not sell it?
SPEAKER_03And that's what I'm saying. And it's and it's marked at a $200 price tag. So, like, that's gonna bring the real fans out, the real people who actually like to play. They've been fans of GTA or they've been playing GTA since the beginning. They followed the storyline, they know the lore. Like that $200 price tag is gonna be nothing to that crowd. Now, the crowd that's under them, the crowd that's under them is the crowd that just likes to play GTA a whole lot. Like they're big fans of GTA, but they're not willing to they don't know the lore that much, or they they haven't played a couple of GTAs, so that's that crowd under them. That $200 price tag may be a problem for that crowd, but I'm still saying there's still more people in that crowd that are gonna not care like at all.
SPEAKER_06I agree. I think they're just going, and you know, he's right, they're gonna print money, people are gonna buy the $200 edition. It don't matter. Yeah, I think some people are gonna buy every edition. Just to say, I have every edition. I have the collection. Yes, yeah, yeah. This is gonna be the one, you know. Yeah, he said estimates are at $5 billion on GTA online shark cards.
SPEAKER_00Damn, me just on the online cards.
SPEAKER_03Nah, he's not he's spitting, he's spitting for real. Now five billion. Yeah, I'm I'm I think it's important that for shark cards, honestly. If they if they if it's if it's even called the shark card, it's gonna be called something else. But it's gonna be up there like five billion. Yeah, he's talking. He's talking for real.
SPEAKER_06Damn, that's crazy alone. Yeah, that's printing money.
SPEAKER_03This game is gonna be in the Guinness Book of World Records. I'm calling the records.
SPEAKER_06You know what? I agree with you on that. I a hundred percent agree. The game's gonna be in the Guinness Book of World Records.
SPEAKER_03This game, this game is gonna make the Guinness Book of World Records.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it's gonna break every record. I I don't think it's gonna be a record, it's not gonna break. I know I'm buying it. Like I'm telling everybody, way ahead of time. I'm getting it, bro. What you think?
SPEAKER_03I was I'm probably not gonna date, I'm probably not gonna day one it, but I am gonna get it. I'm probably not gonna you know what?
SPEAKER_06That's a good question. Am I I ain't gonna damn. I'm gonna think on that one.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm gonna think on that one, man. I think I'm I think I'm in a class of my own. I think I'm in a class of my own, bro. Cause I know the world is gonna have this game.
SPEAKER_06And the world's gonna want to day one it, man. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna be the only one not playing it, bro.
SPEAKER_06I'm like you though, a lot of times when a game comes out that's a huge release, I never day one it like Elden Ring. I didn't day one that, right? Uh, what's another one? Any any sports title I have in day one, right? So if it's Madden, NBA, any of those having day one. Fighting game, fighting games different, though.
SPEAKER_05You know, I'm day one.
SPEAKER_06I need I need to get my skills up because I'm about to get online, so it's a little different when it comes to a fighting game. For me, I sports games. Some people feel like that was sports games, like I need to get it to get my skills up, my VC up, yeah, all that. But for me, fighting games, nah, it's like like Tekken. Hey, we can talk about Tekken, because when that new Tekken dropped, we know I'm there. Like I'm I'm Huge fan, too. I'm waiting on Tekken. So caliber need to come with it. Stop playing. All right, they're because that's my franchise, and they you know what I'm saying? I'm like, oh man, here we go. Street fighter kicking that Mortal Kombat that came back. Before you know it, we're gonna see dark stalkers come back, and these mugs ain't gonna do man.
SPEAKER_03Um listen, I'm not gonna hold you, bro. I'm when it comes to the fighters, bro. I'm picky, I'm very picky. It's stuff out there I don't even consider fighters, bro. I'm very picky.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I don't play certain like I I don't play, I'm not part of the smash.
SPEAKER_03No, yeah, I'm about to say no, no platform fighter, I don't play it at all. No bro no smash do the 2xko.
SPEAKER_06I can't do 2x ko tag and all that. No, I mean, don't give I I can do tag if I learn it, I'll do it. But I just I don't know it, and I've seen what folks do. I do not want to go through that ass whooping.
SPEAKER_03Like I'm about to say, because I play a lot of invincible versus and invincible versus is is fire right now.
SPEAKER_06And I love watching that. I just watch it, you know what I'm saying? Like just watching that night. I'm watching tournaments, combo breaker, you know what I'm saying? A couple of damn this shit look nice, bro.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so I need to get up on it, man. And you know what the funny thing is, before you get started, my bad for cutting you off, but before you get started, the funny thing is, my name is Tech is Blackest, and I haven't played a lick of T8 at all, bro. And I've been waiting for one, I swear. Now, check this out the the uh the clothes alpha, when the close alpha came out, that was the last time I played it, and that was on my birthday. That was on my birthday, bro. And look, check this out there's the story gets deeper.
SPEAKER_06That's so crazy.
SPEAKER_03Another homie of mine who not played Tekken at all. Um he knows I'm a big Tekken fan, and he knows I was doing like everything I could to get a closed alpha code, and I I didn't get one, bro. They didn't pick me. They picked him, they picked him twice. Twice. Uh I ain't gonna lie. That might make me a little salty, man. Listen, man, he got two codes and past me, gave me an alley oop one on my birthday. He gave me the alley oop on my birthday. Gave me the code on my birthday. I played Tekken 8. That was the only time I played it, and then I was pissed off that my main didn't make the the the the the the vanilla roster, bro.
SPEAKER_05Oh, who was your main cooney? Yeah, Cooney just came, man.
SPEAKER_03And she just got back. Cooney is a bad man on this one.
SPEAKER_04Oh shit.
SPEAKER_03She's been my mane since tag tag two, okay. Yeah, she's been my main since tag two. So it's been Cooney and Cooney and Cooney and Nina.
SPEAKER_06So you had to wait. Damn, you had to wait a long time.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Damn, okay. I feel you, I feel you on that. That might stop me too. You know what I'm saying? Like, my main is King. I'm good. You know what I'm saying? Like every single one. I always there, man. So I've been good everyone, you know. But you're right. When you got a a Cooney, a bake, uh uh or Beck, that's uh what's that?
SPEAKER_03That's another guy that needs to come back to the franchise. They need to stop playing around. We tired of Harang.
SPEAKER_05We tired of her on to just give us back, and we be all right.
SPEAKER_03Uh, he he I'm I'm not gonna say that he the the easier out of the two, but his moveset is better. I like his moveset better. I liked his moveset too, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_06Way back from Tekken one and moving on, you know. Yeah, man, I don't know. There were some people because we actually asked this question, which you probably seen the clip, but I asked people what was the worst game they ever played, and some guy said Tekken 8. I couldn't believe it. He said Tekken 8, the worst game he has ever played. And I was like, you know, I understand maybe he just trying to get a clip. People clipping nowadays. I just I just take it, they trolling. You know what I mean? You probably got another game, it's something you got against it. But as you being an avid Tekken player, what do most people have against Tekken? Is it just the microtransactions mainly?
SPEAKER_03Um, I mean, I don't I don't it's it's a lot of different stuff, bro. I mean, I don't I don't find anything wrong with it. I'm just a super fan. I don't like what you're talking about when it comes to the biggest GTA fans. I'm a big I'm one of the biggest Tekken super fans, so I don't see anything wrong that they do. But I I would say that is a part of the a part of the problem microtransactions. Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_06Some people just don't like this.
SPEAKER_03Some people just they just stick to 2D fighters.
SPEAKER_06I can't get into fighters, especially Smash, because dudes have seizures on a controller and make me look stupid doing uppercuts. I ain't gonna lie. When I watch them play Smash, I go, Yep, I'm done. You know what I'm saying? Like I know this actually, I'm uh yep, they they falling damn near to the bottom, bro, and they like come back up and grab it. No, I'm done. I'm done.
SPEAKER_03But see, nah, that's that's the uh the advice that I have for him is that's the difference between like grounded fighters like Tekken Street Fighters, stuff like that, and platform fighters like Smash, Brahalla, stuff like that. Is I feel like the masters we're talking about specifically the masters in each genre, the masters in Smash are way, they get way more luckier, they get way more lucky than than the masters in Tekken because people are actually in Tekken, people or any kind of fighter like Tekken, grounded fighter, people are actually sitting down nowadays and they learn in their buttons. They sitting down and they learn in their buttons, and that's what you've got to do. You gotta put if you want to be good at a fighting game, you've got to put in that time. You gotta put you're not gonna learn it quick. I am a firm believer that modern controls are terrible, terrible, yeah. It's a crutch. It is a crutch, Street Fighter.
SPEAKER_00It's a crutch, and yeah, you're not playing that nice with it. They nice that, yeah.
unknownOh damn man.
SPEAKER_03I'm like, yo, you can do you can do move, you can do full combos that I've had to learn for 10 years and in 10 minutes.
SPEAKER_06Yo, my man, no one said I like dark stalkers, but Mortal Kombat is better for my taste. I feel you on that, my dog. Yo, this camera just don't like me today, bro. And see, this is why I get in the back with the top-notch thousand dollar camera, you know what I'm saying? And they'd be like, damn, your camera looks good. I get to the front with a but this Elijah Tech Brio, man. It's just, it's just, it's it's getting on my damn. Here we go. Okay. We're gonna get it. Yo, I can pull up people's chats while I'm working on it. Yo, my man Malinko, those dudes have moves named. Hold up, what dude, those dudes have moves named. Fuck that. I play reptile. He wasn't in 11, but it had spawn. Good way to get me to buy the game. I'm not gonna lie. That Mortal Kombat, when they started bringing, you know what? Soul Calibur did that too. Soul Calibur put spawn. I think another one they had Yoda, they had another one, they had Link. You know, I mean, I think that's nice for fighting games to do that, but that shit can come off corny.
SPEAKER_03If you mess it up, I'm not gonna hold you. I'm I'm not the I'm not the biggest MK fan. I respect the I respect the uh the franchise, but I'm not the biggest.
SPEAKER_06You know what? I ain't even mad at you, man. I honestly, and people might be mad at me for this. I think the best Mortal Kombat ever was Mortal Kombat 3. I think that was just the like peak. If you want to say ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, cool, you know what I mean? But I think trilogy, I've seen some people say Mortal Kombat Trilogy, yeah with that, I think I consider all three of them the same game. They are the same game, you know. I mean, it's just like ones, it's just more characters, or maybe a combo or two different. You can do an unlimited combo here, you can't there, like little nuances like that. But outside of that, yes, they are the same game, and I think that is the pinnacle. Like, I don't think they got better overall, but I do love like the lore of Mortal Kombat. Like, it's something about the lore of Mortal Kombat where I just love I love the Raiden, the Luke Kane, the Johnny Cage, the Sonya, the Reptile, the the Sub Zero. Like, I I love the lore, so I'm a sucker for the lore. I still watch the movies, but um Oh, of course. I haven't seen it now. I haven't seen Mortal Kombat 2 though. I haven't seen it. So don't don't don't hit me too hard, but I'm about to watch it probably tonight. So how good was it? Was it good?
SPEAKER_03I don't I don't I haven't seen the I have not seen it yet.
SPEAKER_06All right, cool. Then I'm good. We both ain't seen it.
SPEAKER_03I I have seen all the rest of them, and I will go on record of saying, and y'all can y'all can y'all could y'all could I'll die on this hell. Mortal Kombat Annihilation is a great movie, bro.
SPEAKER_01It's a great movie, it's a great movie, bro. Annihilation is a great movie. I I love I love that low budget shit.
SPEAKER_06I love that low budget shit. Now we gotta talk, man. Annihilation. Now I'm a person, I'm hey, I ain't gonna say my name, but we know now we both have seen Annihilation. Shiva never fought, bro.
SPEAKER_04She got slapped by Shao Khan and went, oh, how do you not give Shiva anything prominent? Nothing. She didn't, she did nothing and got slapped.
SPEAKER_06And that was the end of her.
SPEAKER_03Now you know who else, you know who else didn't get a fight in that movie?
SPEAKER_06Who?
SPEAKER_03Uh what's his name? Nah, because uh didn't nah, it was.
SPEAKER_06I'm trying to think of who was it rain or ermic.
SPEAKER_03Was it rain or ermic that got that got knocked in the fire? I want to say never happen again.
SPEAKER_04I want to say it was rain.
SPEAKER_03Wasn't it rain, right? Yeah, rain. Rain didn't get a fight. We got to see new fight before we got a rain fight.
SPEAKER_04That's true.
SPEAKER_03We got a Mataro fight before we got a rain fight.
SPEAKER_06I have not seen Annihilation recently, right? So, what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna go back and watch it because it yo, I tried to erase that from my memory. I tried a buzz cut, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_00Like he did Raiden went from that. That Raiden was cold, though.
SPEAKER_06You know, they turned him real. He human.
SPEAKER_00He did cop winner, he did cop wither. He beat up three reptiles. I'm sorry, reptile fans. But yo, they got tortured, bruh, and bruh, he had the best fight scene in the whole movie.
SPEAKER_06Oh, snap, bro.
unknownHe ain't lying.
SPEAKER_03He had the best fight scene in the whole movie. His his fight scene with them three reptiles was better than the animality fight at the end of the movie.
SPEAKER_06Oh, yeah, that was where, yeah, I agree with you on that. I definitely agree with you on that, man. You know what? I gotta go back and watch it now, man, because I know there's a lot of stuff I'm missing. I do, like I said, I love the lore, and I seen like I've seen all of them except Mortal Kombat 2. Yeah, I'm gonna go back and watch Annihilation. I'm gonna give you that. We'll come back, we'll unpack it. You know what I'm saying? I'll tell you what I give it from one to 10. Because I feel like right now I'm doing it, I'm not doing it fair because I don't remember everything, but I just know that there were key parts in that movie, like you mentioned with Rain and seeing New fight. I was just like, yo, the first Mortal Kombat movie, I remember being in the movie theater in Southside Chicago. And when Scorpion and Johnny Cage was fighting and he was stomping them, and Johnny Cage tried to get up and he said, boom, and stomped them for like another five stomps. The Chicago crowd loved stomping, like it was like a ritual for Chicago. I've never seen so many Negros stand up and say, Man, hell no, nigga, hell no. He kicked hell yeah, that's how you stomp that motherfucker, hell yeah, stomp that mother, hell yeah, don't know. I said, Oh shit, Mortal Kombat got hood niggas going crazy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's crazy. I mean, when I first seen that movie, I was a I was a very little child, and uh the first time I ever seen that movie it was on VHS. So my granddad had like a full collection of like just mad VHS tapes, but like the the I want to say 95% of the collection was all Bruce Lee films. So, like I was watching a bunch of Kung Fu films and martial arts stuff, but on this one cassette, there was three movies. I will never forget this tape. I still got this tape.
SPEAKER_06I'm probably gonna bronze this tape with the three classics, bro.
SPEAKER_01Friday, Mortal Kombat, total recall, the original total recall, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, them all classics, them all classics, man. And all of them had iconic scenes, iconic movies, like total recall, three titties. That's all I gotta say. That's it, yeah, yeah. Most iconic part of the whole movie.
SPEAKER_02They don't understand the three titty scene. Will go down the history.
SPEAKER_06Yes, I've seen that in the movies. I said, Oh yeah, damn, I didn't know they do it like that, you know, and ever since then, yeah, that was you know, now I don't know about the new total recall. Everybody, I did not even watch it.
SPEAKER_03I've seen it, but I don't remember it. I know it has I I know it has the same, it follows like the same plot line, like them going to like a dream world and on another planet, but thinking that Dennis Quaid was on another planet, but he never wasn't that type of thing. I it followed that, but I don't remember the movie at all.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, somebody just told me he was talking to his hand, like, hello, yeah, like there was a uh phone in his hand, and you know, they the way they did it, they made me feel like it was just not good. Like, I hate when people do that and ruin it for me. So then I said, I ain't gonna watch it. You know what? I'm gonna put that on my list, too. Man, I'm going back to watch it. Why not? I ain't got nothing, man. I just I just finished season one of Invincible, just finished it because I seen the fighting game, and I said, Damn, this game looks so good.
