A Mental Health Break

His First Memory was Genocide

January 04, 2022 Vincent A. Lanci/ Niro Dayalan Season 8 Episode 1
A Mental Health Break
His First Memory was Genocide
Show Notes

His first memory was that of genocide: hiding in his neighbour’s basement and crying in his grandmother’s lap before passing out as a handkerchief was placed over his mouth, for fear of being heard. This led to years of silence, which was finally broken at the tender age of 4.

Living through that trauma - and experiencing his parents' abusive and violent relationship in the years that followed - meant he felt unsafe and suffered loneliness for most of his life. In his 20’s, this manifested into mental illness, addiction and a fear of intimacy which compounded his sense of isolation and led to emotionally unavailable partnerships that were doomed to fail.

The First Episode of 2022 is here! You will learn how to leave trauma in the past and not letting it define you, how to come out of a lonely state, finding the right path for you and a lot more.

WELCOME BACK to A Mental Health Break. This is the show where we normalize the conversation on mental health. After Host Vincent A. Lanci suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and into recovery, he learned that he needed to prioritize my mental health. And his goal for this podcast is to help you do so, too!

This is the podcast where we help each other improve our mental health by sharing our stories and experiences.
