Sum: Everything has a frequency - a level on which it vibrates.  Including us.  We are made of energy frequencies and we are surrounded by frequencies.  That begs the question though: are we operating on a high or low frequency on the daily?  And what about the frequencies we allow into our lives?  Are they lifting us up or dragging us down?  Today's episode is an invitation to reflect on what kind of frequency you are operating at now, and what you could potentially do to operate at a higher level.

All right. The theme of April, is surroundings. And today, I want to riff on the frequencies you surround yourself with. I don't know about you guys. But until the last couple of years, I haven't really thought about frequency, or what frequency means. So before we begin, I want to do something that I don't normally do on this podcast, but something that is important and something that I do do in my regular day to day life. And I want to take a moment to check in and come into the present. How are you feeling right now? If you had to describe what you are feeling emotionally in this moment, how would you describe your state? Relaxed? Happy, anxious, sad, content? Tired? I know I'm a little tired personally. Having newborn is no joke. And yeah, I am a little lacking in the sleep department. Now, where's your breath? Are you breathing deeply? Is their breath catching in your throat? I have a tendency to breathe shallow ly, especially when I'm stressed. And if you are feeling stressed, where's that stress located in your body? Are your shoulders up and tight? Is your throat tight? What is your body feeling? And where is it feeling it? Now that you have a little bit of a baseline? Let's shift the frequency. What's something that made you smile or laugh recently? What's something you are intensely grateful for? I feel like my answer to both of those questions is my son. He makes me smile and he makes me laugh especially now that he's sharp starting to show facial expressions. It is so precious and it just puts life into perspective. So I'm grateful for him and he makes me smile and laugh. Is there a person or a pet in your life that every time you are in their presence? You feel inexpressible joy. feel these feelings for a minute? Let's pause. Let's embrace the present moment. Let's honor our heart and what it loves. We are so much more than worker bees. In productivity machines, we are souls, having a human experience. And checking in throughout the day honors this very beautiful fact. Now, I want you to think about something. I want you to think about how you felt when you started listening to this podcast episode, versus how you feel after doing a little check in like this. Getting into your body paying attention to your breath, coming back into the present. Do you feel a difference? Do you feel a frequency change? I'd like to check in with myself as often as possible. Some days, it's easier than others. You guys know that. I like to ask questions like, What do I need more of? What do I need less of? What kind of movement does my body need today? Does it need movement? Or have I been overdoing it? What kind of nourishment is my body craving? Is this a day where I need like smoothies and salads and really micronutrient hydrating foods? Or is this a day where I'm like, You know what? French fries sound like they would just rocked my world. What kind of stimulation does my mind need today? These types of questions allow me to live with a little more intention in my life on the daily. So this is the last week of April. And April's theme, as I've mentioned has been all about surroundings. In Episode 112, we chatted self healing through your surroundings, and episode 113. We talked styling your space with intention, even if you're on a tight budget. And last week in Episode 114. I've rift on how to inject joy into your space. Well today, I want to go a little deeper, and I want to get a little bit spiritual and talk about the frequencies you live in on the daily. So what frequencies Do you surround yourself with what kind of frequencies are emanating and ruminating in your surroundings. And then I want to ask you some questions around how living in those frequencies serves or detracts from your life. I've chatted about frequency before in the podcast. But in essence, frequency is everything. It's energy. It's the vibe in the room. It's the level at which we operate. Our individual frequencies are dependent on how we take care of ourselves mentally, physically, spiritually, and our individual frequencies contribute to the collective frequency of our globe and humanity. If we want peace, we need to be peace. If we want healing, we need to first heal ourselves. If we want love, we need to first love ourselves. If we want fun, we need to be fun. You get the idea. Now back to the episode. If you think of frequency as a chart, the lowest vibrational frequencies are guilt and shame and fear. Anger is somewhere around the lower middle. And then at the top of the chart, we have joy and peace, an unconditional love. joy, peace, unconditional love. Those are high vibrations. Those are high frequencies. We naturally enjoy being around people who embody these frequencies. fear, shame, guilt. These are low frequencies. And we naturally feel heavy when we are around people who embody these frequencies. Now without judgment, and that's paramount. What kind of frequency Do you think you are sending out right now? Where do you usually live on the frequency chart? It's always good to be honest with ourselves. And it's good for us to have a solid baseline. Because here's the deal. We can always choose to change our frequency. Always. One of the easiest ways to change your frequency is to tap into gratitude. And not only think about what you're grateful for, but feel it, dwell on it. Sit in that feeling and allow it to seep into your bones. Another really incredible way to To change our frequency is to take responsibility for whatever it is that we're feeling. And to take responsibility for our lives in general. We can either be victims of our circumstances, or we can be victims of our circumstances. When I learned this, it felt like a kick in the pants, like we. But I didn't do that, to me. That's their fault. I'm living with so much pain because they caused it. But here's the truth that will set you free. And here's the truth that will allow you to shift frequencies, you get to choose what you hold on to. And what you let go of, you get to be the author of the story you carry with you. And the story that you let define your life. This is beautiful, because it has the power to set us free. And taking responsibility, and then choosing to act on something better for us will shift our frequency fast, FAS t fast. So let's dive into this a little bit. What frequencies are we surrounding ourselves with? On the daily, I'm going to ask you a series of questions. And I want to preface this by saying this is a judgment free zone. This is not an opportunity for you to be hard on yourself or to judge yourself in any way. This is simply an opportunity for us to observe our lives. And take note. First, what people do you hang out with? What frequency do they operate on? How do you feel when you are in their presence? How do you feel after? Do you feel uplifted? Do you feel small? What do you feel? I had a great conversation with a friend this week about frequency. And it's really important to take note of how other people make us feel in their presence or how we feel in their presence. But it's also really important to take note, what kind of frequency we're emanating when we're with other people. And how do we want to show up in the world? Do we want to show up and be joy bombs? Do we want to make people feel that make them feel but allow them to feel peaceful in our presence? Do we want to be empathetic, compassionate kind? Do we want to be balls of energy? Do we want to be funny? We get to choose. And it's important that we're intentional about that frequency that we show up to the world in and the frequency that we show up? You know in the smallest relationships in our lives down to you our relationship with our pets, we get to choose the frequency. Okay, secondary to think about. What about your job? What kind of frequency does your job have? High? Low? If it's low, is there a way to inject some high frequency energy into it? Is the frequency of your job one you want to be in? For the next six months? A year? Two years? Five years? What about your home? I talked a lot about this in the last few episodes. But what frequency does your house have? Is it a happy place to be? Is it a place where you feel peaceful? reenergized? Do you enjoy inhabiting it? If not, what changes could you make to ensure it's the kind of place you vibe with the kind of place that recharges you? What about the books you're reading? How do they make you feel after putting them down? What about the music you listen to? Does it make you feel good after listening to it? Or does it make you feel like you need to be more of something or be different than you are? As a musician I'm super sensitive to how music makes me feel. Unless I'm doing a spin class. I do not like pumping driving loud music. I like peaceful soft bossa nova and Enya and French Cafe Music. I listen to pop and I love it. And I listened to it once in a while but I primarily listen to instrumental and singer songwriter type stuff because it makes me feel peaceful and I want to be peaceful. I want to give out peaceful joy filled frequency All right, what about the shows and the movies you watch? Are they raising or lowering your frequency? And what about the food you eat? Is it raising or lowering your frequency? You can go through every area of your life and ask yourself these questions. And this isn't about judging ourselves. It's about creating awareness around the frequencies we allow into our valuable lives. Your worth is priceless. Your time is priceless. Your presence is priceless. We can choose the frequencies we surround ourselves in on a daily basis. And we can choose to filter out the frequencies we don't want to vibe with. We can't choose the frequencies at which others operate. But we can choose to operate however we want to despite what those around us are doing. This gives us a tremendous amount of power over our lives and power over the frequencies at which we operate. Beautiful listeners. The frequencies we surround ourselves with are the foundation of our lives. If we are in low frequency, we will most likely attract more low frequencies. If we are operating in high frequencies, we will most likely attract high frequencies. I will end with a quote from Nikola Tesla.
