Show Notes

Dennis Holland comes from a hockey family. His brother is the former NHL goalie and Hall of Fame GM, Ken Holland. While Dennis may not be in the Hall of Fame like his brother, he did have an outstanding junior career, and a long professional hockey career.

Dennis scored 82 goals in one WHL season with the Portland Winterhawks and led the league in both goals and points. He earned himself a 3rd round draft selection to the Detroit Red Wings the season prior. And although Dennis wasn't able to play an NHL game and realize his childhood dream, he has earned his way onto the NHL payroll.

Dennis has been scouting for the Dallas Stars for the past 15 years and was key in Dallas drafting Jamie Benn in the 5th round of the 2007 entry draft.

We discuss how Benn became a Dallas Star and all the things Dennis looks for when scouting NHL prospects.

If you have ever been curious about what scouts do, what they look for, or if you want to have the inside scout on how to stand out from the rest, this is an episode for you!
