Speaker 1:

What's up everybody. Welcome back to another episode of the Having Report podcast. I am your host, brad Mine. The price of Bitcoin is $26,000 US dollars and there's only about 30 weeks left until the next Bitcoin having. Today, we welcome Alex Cooper to the show. Alex Cooper is the North American BD and community manager for footprint analytics. Alex and I have a fun conversation today with lots of new fun Blitz questions as well as diving deep into blockchain data. So, without further ado, everybody welcome Alex to the show. Alex Cooper, welcome to the having report podcast. Thanks for doing this, hey thanks for having me.

Speaker 2:

You know I love the voice at the having report. I've been looking forward to hopping on this podcast for for at least two weeks now, so finally happy to be here and great to talk to you again, Brad.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's been a been a few weeks coming trying to plan it, since the, since the futures conference. You know everyone's, you know making new connections there, so that's great. For sure You're you're an honorary member of the having report. Now, man, we had some good times. Feel free to speak candidly and give as many shout out to be as you need throughout this podcast. One thing I wanted to just ask you, without dead horses.

Speaker 2:

Experience of the.

Speaker 1:

Toronto Futurist Conference.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, dude, it was. You know, like I said a little bit earlier, right, I really didn't know what to expect with the Futurist Conference because, you know, in Canada there's really not all that much Web three action, right. So I was, like I said, the bar kind of low and I went there and I was actually kind of blown away. There's really a lot of great people building. There was a ton of cool projects coming out. A lot more Canadians have all been Web three than I really expected and it was really cool. Just like you know, sneaking into VIP, getting the hanging out with everybody in the cabana, hanging out with the Conflux team, hanging out with the Sheeb team, getting seeing Sheeb Shebarium get released, that was cool, man. And then, of course, you know a little bit of hanging out in the pool. We all love hanging out at the pool.

Speaker 1:

For sure, man, we, you know, we have our. Everyone keeps talking to me. People see in real life, they're like, oh, I saw you hanging up at pool. What was going on there? The pool just stands out to people for whatever. Whatever reason that is you know. Well, maybe you could just start off by you know, put it in layman's turns for us. Give us a rundown. What is? What is footprint analytics?

Speaker 2:

I guess the easiest way to kind of describe footprint analytics is we combine Web two data and Web three data via abstractions. So what does that mean? Via abstractions, it means that we organize data in under different layers so that you don't actually have to do too much SQL Right Anytime. I don't have to use SQL man I call that a dub so with that it means you can really just make charts and dashboards via drag and drop. We also have a couple other product suites. We have our zero coding and what we just talked about, the zero coding but I have our rest API's that are free for people to use.

Speaker 2:

We have growth analytics. So if you're like a game or you're a protocol in general and you really want to harness some marketing data, we're kind of your go to guys with that. You know, while we're also coming out with some reference data, which is a very interesting topic, brad. Reference data is cool and I never really thought too much about it at first, but it's very interesting and I think a lot of people are really going to like it once it, once it goes live. Reference data what is?

Speaker 1:

what is that?

Speaker 2:

So reference data essentially like in the most simple terms, it like gives you the full holistic view of a transaction, right? So essentially, what we do is we use AI to do some smart contract mapping, because I'm sure you guys all know this. But smart protocols aren't just made up of one smart contract, right, they're made up of many different smart contracts that do all kinds of different interactions and different kinds of verifications for the protocol. So let's see, as most basic example is, let's say that a thousand ETH got transferred from Binance to Uniswap right, that's a ton of money, right? And all we see, especially on those whale watcher gurus and stuff like that, is okay. Thousand ETH transferred to from unknown address to Uniswap. People are like holy crap, right, what's going on? That's a ton of money, but people don't actually realize that. You know that thousand ETH could be then exchanged for different tokens. It's put into a liquidity pool, it's staked, it's traded for an NFT or multiple NFTs if it's thousand ETH, but you know. So reference data gives you this full holistic view of transactions, right, via white labeling.

Speaker 2:

Another cool use case for reference data is that let's say that there's a malicious contract, right? Yeah, you know me, I got like a hundred dollars drain the other month, like you know, big deal, whatever, right. I could go on then to use reference data to start doing smart contract mapping, to take this malicious smart contract and Identify it that's linked to other smart contracts, right? So you can actually easily, or more easily, identify scams or scammers with reference data as well. So it's also quite good for security, quite good for you know. If you're doing any kind of chain analysis sort of stuff where you know, holy crap, I got a compromise where to go and how do I avoid this kind of attack in the future or how do I avoid this scammer in general, we can use reference data for that as well.

Speaker 1:

Is that something you guys are rolling over the future?

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, I think it's gonna be launched here in the next Month month and a half. So we got you can check it out right now it's on minimums aicio, so we have it for Ethereum. But, as you know, we have like 30 chains, so that's like a ton of chains that get going for the reference data. So Stay tuned for, like the next couple months here we're gonna rule out more and more chains and you can really get the full, the full reference data for all these different chains, which is sweet, right. I you know no one is just sticking to Ethereum anymore, so we want to make sure that we cover all of our bases.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you guys have really grown in the amount of change. You guys work with Right. That's pretty aggressive, like do you use anybody out there? That's kind of competing with you. You don't have to mention names or anything, but you know that just.

Speaker 2:

Chain-wise, like not really. I mean, you can look at like the graph, for example. They have like Tons of access to tons of different chains, right, but it's a little bit more tedious, it's a little bit more difficult to work with than, say, our platform. But no, we've been really lucky when we've been getting grants. So chains, public chains, have been really liking kind of. You know, the products that we offer. First of all, change is really like having their data Visible for all their builders, for anybody. That's curious, right. So that's already a win for us. But then you know what else footprint does is we provide those those different marketing tools, right? You know I always like to talk about when we're getting these grants. It's like, you know, we don't want just footprint to grow on the sweet ecosystem, for example, we want everyone to grow with us, right? You know, my favorite saying right now, brad, is everybody eats, and that's kind of our go-to vision right now At footprint when it comes to getting all these chains indexed.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's. I love that saying, that's great, I got. I got a fun blitz question for you what's your go-to karaoke song?

Speaker 2:

September by earth. Wind and fire come on too easy too easy, too easy, awesome.

Speaker 1:

So you know your journey into web 3 space is pretty intriguing here. Alex, can you walk us through how you found yourself immersed in this world?

Speaker 2:

I guess it all kind of goes back to I Love selling all my things and going on trips. I love it. I love doing it. So I sold my car. I had a really nice car, mercedes. I sold that car, went to Phoenix, went to Costa Rica, went to Mexico and I met my boy in Mexico that I used to work with in China back in the day and he was Living on the beach in a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment paying 800 US dollars a month. I said what? Like no way I'm paying like 1200 Canadian right now for a dingy, little or not dingy, but, like you know, for nothing that compares. And I got a roommate right. I was like what are you doing? He's like I'm working online. So I came back home Broke. I said I want to work online. And you know my boy, dan, that I also used to work with in China. We used to have a couple businesses together. He hit me up he's like I'm with footprint.

Speaker 2:

I was already kind of dabbling with crypto myself, right, I was. Just I was looking at, I was looking at the index charts, I was looking at the crack and charts, right, you know that meme with all the numbers flowing and you know thinking all that that was me. All right, I was. I just thought I was the man With the crypto, losing all my money. It was cool still about it. And then I got the opportunity to start at footprint as you know social media guy and I just got one of the big benefits of Working with foot part right Is I'm just immersed with all this data. I'm immersed with all these different metrics all the time. So it really gave me like a deep dive into crypto. Right, we're, we write, we write all kinds of cool articles on our website. You can check those out, but you know I'm reading all of our articles, I'm looking at all the data. This was just in the heart of the bull run, right. So I'm getting fired up, everyone's getting fired up.

Speaker 2:

I'm learning about NFTs. I got learning about game fine, by the way, that's my niche, I love game fine, that's my thing. And yeah, then they started, you know, sending me to conferences and I started making partnerships from conferences. Then I started doing VC pitches and then like, so my evolution is kind of just grown right. I've really just kind of worked with footprint from the beginning and you know, they've really helped me expand all my knowledge, help me meet all these great people. Um, like you guys, for example, and really now I'm here. Um, now I'm pretty much like the North America CEO here at footprint and really it's just going amazing. Um, I can be happier. They got me sent over here in Guangzhou right now and meeting the team, learn more about the product, which is great. Um, so you know. If my connection looks a little laggy, blame the VPN. Okay.

Speaker 1:

Awesome, fun Blitz question cats or dogs, dogs, dogs, cool. What's the sort of another one at you? What's the last book that you read?

Speaker 2:

Go. I've been reading too much. The last book, the last book I read, I think, was um the future of blockchain. I was reading about blockchain technology and it was really cool. It kind of gave me, uh, more insight, not into, like you know, you see, uh like you know web three, but more into the blockchain side, the technology that makes blockchain, why blockchain is cool, why, you know it's actually a really interesting book on the future and evolution of blockchain. I think it is. And, uh, the thing is, it was crazy about this book is when I bought it. This is like the third edition, right, because blockchain is Evolving so quick. Right that they have to constantly go and reprint new copies, because it gets some of their information.

Speaker 1:

We get outdated when it comes to, when it comes to footprint, you know, is there, is there one feature or is there's one suite that you know users are more attracted to, like what's, what's your main product there?

Speaker 2:

Well. So I guess it really depends here targeting right. So, b2b Our main kind of suite is a customized enterprise solutions. Um, for example, when we onboard anamoka, right, we're we're making their entire CRM tool for all their games, which is super cool. So we are taking Anamooka's games, like Mochaverse, for example, and putting them all into this cloud and we are uploading their off-chain data, their data lakes, their connectors, their Facebook, their Slack, twitter, whatever, google Analytics too, and then we're combining it with the on-chain data in real time so they can really give them ecosystem reports. We can segment their users. Then we can build out wallet profiles I do user journeys, user funnels. It's really quite interesting. So that's kind of our main suite right now for B2B. B2c is for sure going to be our free REST APIs or just in general, your coding platform, because it's sweet.

Speaker 2:

I don't know how to code, I'm not a good coder, I'm looking at lines of code like they're hieroglyphics. So it means if I can go to footprint and I can make an analytic dashboard, which I have, by the way, go check out my Dogecoin dashboard. It's sweet. But if I can make these analytic dashboards, that means pretty much anybody can, and that's powerful, powerful, right, because it's not just devs, it's not just analysts that are looking at crypto information. It's me and you, it's blue-collar workers Everybody's kind of dipping their toes or have dipped their toes in the crypto.

Speaker 2:

And when we have investments because that's what we treat our crypto tokens as or our NFTs as, maybe something is a little bit of fun, but we know that we're not buying this stuff to lose money. We're buying this to make money. So when we're looking at our tokens or NFTs or whatever, I want to be looking at the analytics to make sure that I know when the right time is to buy more, or I know when to sell, or I can start getting trends on health, ecosystem health, stuff like that. So we have to make analytics really accessible to everybody, and that's really our goal here at footprint, especially when it comes to B2C, we have a little bit more complicated with the free REST API, so you can start doing different wallet analysis through our REST API, start doing all these different calls. It's sweet. So that's like our B2C and the B2B is like that custom SQL enterprise solution or even that reference data as well, which is quite nice. You wouldn't believe, kind of, how hot it was when I started talking about it over at Token 2049 and.

Speaker 1:

Korea Blockchain Week. Yeah, for sure. How was that event?

Speaker 2:

Korea Blockchain Week was sweet, had a great time. I love Korea, love Korean smokes, love all the protocols being built. I was actually really shocked at the amount of building that's going on in Korea, which is just amazing. Lost my wallet that wasn't so amazing Still floating somewhere in Korea. So if you guys come across a wallet that says Alex Cooper, please let me know. I need that back. You know, overall it was just really great and this is like pre Token 2049. And I was like amazed, right, just how many people are still all in on Web 3 and are just building cool innovative products. Now, right, we're seeing so many different layer like optimistic rollups, zero knowledge chains, like ZK chains. It's sweet.

Speaker 2:

Now we're talking about Token 2049, man, I think that was the best conference I've ever been to my entire life. That was just amazing. And here's the deal. I got there on Sunday. The conference didn't start till Wednesday and it was just still that amazing. Right, I was at a week packed filled with events, builder events, all leading up to the conference and then even after the conference too, there were still really great events. So it was just. I think well over 10,000 people attended Token 2049 and it was during the same week of F1. It was like just a jam-packed week and it was amazing and the F1 was also very cool. I don't know much about F1. I just know F1 cargo room. They're like fast cars and seeing those in real life too, that was just like the chef's kiss, you know.

Speaker 1:

That sounds like you had a great time, man Coffee or tea, which fuels your day.

Speaker 2:

I like coffee more, but I don't really drink coffee. Just do the, you know, makes me go to the bathroom. So you know I prefer tea, but I drink coffee more. But when it comes to iced tea, iced tea over coffee every day.

Speaker 1:

Just trying to jump it back to your B2B. Like you know, data is obviously king. You know how crucial is this information to your customers.

Speaker 2:

Oh, it's super crucial, right. And it's not so much about getting them the data right. There's other data providers. It's about how easily we can let these analysts access their data. Right. How much time can we save them? So what's most important for the devs and the analysts when they want to go access their data on chain is how do we do it quickly so that we can go and spend time on other things? Right? Devs aren't cheap. Right, devs are not cheap. So anytime that they can not have to focus on some of the more trivial things like data and actually start focusing on building the product is amazing.

Speaker 2:

Everybody needs access to your data, right. It doesn't matter even if you're a Web 2, right. Data is king. When it comes to making informed decisions right. When we do marketing campaigns right. We don't do marketing campaigns because I think this is going to work. I do marketing campaigns because I think this is going to work.

Speaker 2:

Based on what I know about our users, right? Or just having super customized metrics right. How about even segmenting your users based on activity? Who's holding more of my tokens? Who's doing more transactions on the protocol? Right? I think one of the keys for retaining users and Web 3 in general is reward our most active users right. Reward the whales, reward the people that are driving the product forward, right, bringing people in right. And you need data to do that. And that's what we can do at Footprint, which is quite sweet, you know, really it just depends, right. When all this data is on chain, it's cool, sounds really interesting and it sounds really easy to access, but really it's just a pain in the ass. So with Footprint, we just want to make your life easy so you can get this public information and then make custom metrics right. It's how we do it. Right. It's how we grow.

Speaker 1:

Fun Blitz question are you a morning person or a night owl?

Speaker 2:

Oh, night owl. For sure, man, I love sleeping in. I've been trying to wake up early, man. I've been really trying. You know I did it this morning. You can see, right now it's like 9.52 in the morning, my time. I got the bags under my eyes. I have no idea why. I have no idea why I should have got some moisturizer or something. Man, I'm looking a little rough for the house.

Speaker 1:

You got to get that little eye cream off Amazon. You know Like 20 bucks around your eyes. Yeah, exactly, man Ready to go, man.

Speaker 2:

I got to go find a girl to get some recommendations and the best way to get rid of these bags.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, man Get those beauty tips in.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

You obviously as a community management. Sorry, what's your title?

Speaker 2:

So my official title now is head of community and BD in North America, but unofficially it's like North America CEO, because I just do everything that needs to be done in English. Man, I guess you're done. You know, if things need to be done at footprint, I go and get it done, do you have a next big event planned or where do you go?

Speaker 2:

next I'm going to go. There's a Chinese holiday coming up, so I'm going to go to Hong Kong with an old friend. You're going to go check out Disneyland. Are you making fun of me again?

Speaker 1:

I'm just trying to stay awake myself too, man.

Speaker 2:

So I'm going to go to go to check out Disneyland in Hong Kong. Maybe, after I'm done here in Guangzhou, I'm going to go visit my sister in the Philippines, Maybe take a little break to Thailand, go back home, sell all my things again. Then I'm moving back to Asia. Man, my money goes way further here. So I'm definitely having a good time thinking about Asia. For sure, that's kind of my next steps. Overpaying enormous amount of rent. I'm overpaying $150 for my phone bill a month. You know that sort of stuff.

Speaker 1:

What's the latest? Like when you first got back from the futures conference, like you were getting evacuated. So like what's the latest on that?

Speaker 2:

Oh, it's good to go, man. You know I got. I mean, the far was pretty close to my place. So in case everybody here listening is wants a little context of what we're talking about, I'm originally from Kelowna, bc, and I don't know if you guys seen the news about a month ago, a month and a half ago, it was burned into the ground.

Speaker 2:

We had like two fires coming in and my house was like two K away from the fires. It was crazy, it was really eerie. Man, I'm packing up a bag and the whole house is like yellow inside. You know what I mean? I felt like I was in a Hollywood Mexican movie with that kind of filter. You know it looks super eerie, it was, and all on all, though, the house was fine.

Speaker 2:

Truthfully, if it did get to my apartment where I'm staying, kelowna would have been burning down for real, like that place would have been toast MacGhost. But you know, some of my friends weren't so lucky, right? I've had a couple of friends whose places did burn down, which is super sad, right. No one no one expects, you know, the place that you grew up in to ever just have that have the even possibility of burning to the ground. So that was really scary. It was kind of a wake up call for me as well.

Speaker 2:

One of the one, one like little township that's in the shoe swap. It's called Scotch Creek. Scotch Creek is idyllic, all right. When you picture of camping, you picture going to the forest to go, picture the lake. It's like Scotch Creek is that picture perfect thought that you think of, and unfortunately it burns to the ground, which was super sad. You know it's. You know I really hope you know it's a wake up call for more action to be done, more infrastructure to be provided, because you know, we've been dealing with forest fires in BC literally every single summer, right, and like, what are we doing here about this? So you know, I can start talking about this, about my thoughts on the government and how they're dealing with this, but then then we would totally be going off topic from crypto and start going on a big old government conspiracy.

Speaker 1:

What is it? Direct energy weapons. Is that what's going on?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, all the houses with blue roofs were saved man. It's crazy. I don't understand what's going on with that man.

Speaker 1:

Lasers from space yeah I saw that I was just shaking, kind of shook my head at that one.

Speaker 2:

My uncle's all into that too. He's just telling my mom about lasers from space burning everything down for the elite, like give me a break, man.

Speaker 1:

I know.

Speaker 2:

Here's the deal. Here's the deal. I'm going to eat my shoe on camera. You heard it here. First on the having report. I'll do it on the having report. I'll eat my shoe if blue lasers have been burnt or lasers from space been causing for as far as you heard it here, Was that a John McAfee reference?

Speaker 1:

This is years ago. Like a few years ago, he famously said if Bitcoin doesn't get to I think it was like a million dollars by the end of 2020, I'm going to eat my dick on TV. And this was like. This was like a big thing in the crypto space for a long time that was sounding very similar there, but you heard it here.

Speaker 2:

I was Cooper's eating his shoe. Live on the having report.

Speaker 1:

So that's interesting. So you want to. You're going to come back, you're going to get your things, you're going to move to Southeast Asia or where you want to go.

Speaker 2:

I'm relatively flexible. I could go here, I could go there, I could go there. I could spend a month here, Right? You know, with the Canadian passport we get pretty much visas on arrival anywhere. No-transcript, God, that really makes me chapped about Vietnam, taking up a whole page for a visa to go to Vietnam. Anyways, it doesn't matter, that's not the thing. I would go to Vietnam again. I go, like I said, maybe I go spend a little bit more time visit my sister in the Philippines. You know, just check things out. Even I always got a place here in Goyang Joe too. You know, thanks to my boss, he's hooking me up with his extra apartment. So you know, there's I got lots great options, and all of them are cheaper than living in Canada right now.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, no joke, man. One of the boys with the Havana board that you met is going to move out to Thailand. Not move to Thailand, but go stay there for a few months anyways, I think, I don't know. I think it's like a couple hours from Bangkok driving which one? Chris? Chris? Yeah, that's right man. You remember him using the pool.

Speaker 2:

I'm not surprised. I'm not surprised, I just say that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he's, that's what he's thinking anyway. So I'd love to go. Maybe, maybe we'll visit, maybe we'll all meet up down there something one of these days. But I just want to, you know, ask you like what's, what's your attraction to the game fight space? You said, that's kind of your, that's your niche, right?

Speaker 2:

Yeah. So one like kind of kind of cool fun fact I was one of the judges for the ABGA Clayton what three gaming hackathon in Singapore during their what three gaming summit. So you know me, like, why am I so into gaming? I gain five. All because I love gaming, right, you know I actually kind of struggle in here because I don't have my nuts set up that I do back at home. I got the three monitors set up with the 60 inch screen. You know I got RGB everything. You know I'm a gamer man.

Speaker 2:

When I'm at home and I'm not, I leave the house because I just play games, the boys on discord and it's sick. So, anyways, I I don't just play like one game, right, I'm not just a call of duty guy, I'm playing this genre, this genre, this genre, this, that blah. I play tons of games and so it gives me really kind of a wide range of experience, especially looking from the web to side of things. You know the traditional gaming scene. When I'm looking at web three games, right, you know, I'm also like I've done a ton of Twitter spaces on Game Fine in general, I've had some really kind of interesting thesis. So ABGA invited me as one of the judges and it was cool, man, it was really cool. I was like one of the only guys asking these games questions. I was grilling these poor games man right on stage. They're trying to get $80,000. A guy comes in and and I'm just grilling these poor guys. But you know what it's for the best, right, we need to. These are questions that you know. I'm thinking about them. I'm sure other people are thinking about them too.

Speaker 2:

And especially when we start adding NFTs and we start adding PVP and PvE right, it's tokenomics and just gameplay in general needs to be tight, man, or else you're going to get drained, right. You're not going to have enough enough out our input to to outweigh the output, right? So you know I'm always thinking about this sort of stuff, right, it's a lot easier to make a game when there's money not involved for everybody and there's. It's way easier to make a game when you're actually very much easily able to nerf things. When, when there's when they're non fungible, right. How do you nerf a non NFT man? It's non fungible, right? What are? How do we do? How do we deal with overpowered mechanics or overpowered weapons or overpowered whatever, when they're all NFTs and we can't nerf them. So it's just as like an example, right? So there's a lot of things we got to think about, especially, you know, looking at the data that we have from footprint.

Speaker 2:

You know, especially the game five wise really made me a great fit for being one of the judges and I just, I just couldn't be more blessed that we did it. Actually, I made a coin telegraph article the other day about this, which was super cool. Like I'm beyond fired up on that. So, yeah, it was awesome and really, really you know why people ask me that question like, you know, like, how did you become one of these judges? And I just say, well, I play way too many video games, maybe more than I should admit. Maybe I should get a girlfriend.

Speaker 1:

Well, yeah, you'll have to send that coin telegraph. We'll link that up in the show notes and people can check. Check that out a little bit more. I'm not a huge gamer. Like I play, I have my Oculus Quest I don't know if you can see it behind me. I play my VR headset a little bit. Where's most of like the value being transferred in? Like what is there like a few games that kind of occupy most the value that's being transferred with NFTs and tokens and I like to not so much go by values so much.

Speaker 2:

I think one of the most important metrics for games right now in the web three spaces by daily active users. Right, because generally at the end of the day, especially when there's PPP aspects and there's that social aspect right, because, for I feel like, for game fight, it has to have diverse amount of users. Right, why does have to have a diverse amount of users? Well, because how can you make single player games and just take out money from these games? Right, they have to be interactive. So daily active users is, I think, one of the most important metrics looking at game fight, followed then by transactions. So who's doing the most kind of it has the most daily active users right now, while it's Alien Worlds. Alien Worlds is number one for sure, but here. So I'll send you this link here so you can look at it. You can take a look at this tube, brad, so we can look at this together. So, looking at the top games right now we have by active users Holy smokes, farmers World is kind of just going absolutely insane when it comes to the active users and transactions as well. They're going insane Right. Farmers World, alien Worlds, sweat Economy, solitaire, blitz on Flow relatively new game that I've seen on the top charts here Super Walk, spinnerlands that's been a classic for the last year or so. Second Live Second Live is really cool as well. Have you ever heard of that game? Like back in the day-day that's called like Second Life, where you could buy like these metaverse properties it was like the metaverse before the metaverse and you know you get you can hang out with your buddies in these homes that you bought and stuff. It was I think Self Park made like an episode on it. It's it was like the OG metaverse, right. It's really truly where I think the memes of neckbeards came from, or more so than with like World of Warcraft or so. It's also like IMVU, also very similar kind of game where you just create avatars, you walk around this open world that people created sort of deals. So these are like the top games right now. And what's really interesting is you're going to you're seeing a ton more of these moves to earn games really popping off, right. I mean it's really easy to do, right. It's just you're getting steps every single day. You might as well bank and you get some rewards for banking them, which is it's cool man, it's really cool. And then you can go with the Game Fight Market Leaderboard here as well, kind of just really taking a peek at what's going down here. I really think, you know, gaming right now is kind of in like a weird limbo. Kind of in a weird kind of limbo when it comes to Web3 games, because we're just on the precipice of these good games starting to get released, right. So I got a couple of recommendations where, if anybody here is, you need to Web3 gaming. Check out Legends of Arcadia. They actually won the hackathon that we did in Singapore.

Speaker 2:

Really interesting game, you know. Decent tokenomics, good graphics. It looks fun. The gameplay itself looks entertaining, right. It's something that it's like an idle battler that you know you can really get hyped on. So I think that's a pretty good game. Loomitare as well that's another interesting game you guys can check out. It's like a more of a MMORPG, you know, and you also Sorry to set it up, but you just play all these through the web browser right.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, most of them are still in beta testing, so you have to go to the Discord, get a link and go check it out. Most of them, you can play through the browser. Some are going to be mobile. I mean, most of the games start on the browser and then they eventually they move to the phone, right? I truly think again. The other big one is we're going to see Web3 gaming and it's not going to be Web3 gaming, it's going to be Web2.5 gaming and it's all going to be on mobile and it's going to be the first step for people starting to learn about wallets. I won't necessarily say that it's going to bring mass adoption, but it's going to bring more adoption for sure.

Speaker 2:

When we're talking about getting people into crypto and the blockchain, right, because the thing with these games now is they're not trying to make it look like they're on chain, right. They're not trying to seem like they're on chain. It's like, okay, we have a custodial wallet for you built in right, play the game for five hours. Now you can start unlocking these tokens. Oh, wow, you've unlocked enough tokens. Now you can transfer them out on chain right To a different wallet, right, but for the majority of the time playing. You're not playing it because of the blockchain aspects or playing it because it's fun and it's just a decent game.

Speaker 1:

It seems like a lot of these games are being built from the ground up. With tokenomics, are we going to see a lot of existing games, a lot of existing mobile games? Kind of integrate that and kind of jump ahead of these other games?

Speaker 2:

Well, we're starting to see games like Fortnite, for example. Fortnite has been hitting NFTs, right. I really think they're not really going to transition a ton of games on chain. And why are they not going to do that? Because they're doing just fine how it is with the web 2. They're making tons of money that way, right.

Speaker 2:

I think where we're going to start seeing the biggest IPs move into web 3 is going to be out of Japan. We're going to see a lot of Japanese game studios interested in bringing out on chain games. When I was at token 2049, I was meeting guys from Sega. I was meeting people from Bandai Namco right, these are some big Japanese IPs man, and talking to Hero from the Bandai Namco VC that's in charge of making a web 3 game, they're just saying, like, in Japan, how it is is there's leaders and stuff like this. They're waiting for the first leader to make the deep dive and then, once that company makes the deep dive and test this out, then we're going to see a ton more coming all of a sudden, right? So I think for big name brands that are going to hop into web 3 for gaming or IPs, it's going to be Japan.

Speaker 2:

After that, really, I think it's Asia. Asia is really going to be the king of games when it comes to on chain gaming, especially Korea as well. Korea's got some really great game studios coming out. We're seeing more and more great Korean web 2 games, like the Liza P that just came out. It's like a Dark Souls-esque, souls-like game that's out of Korea as well Very great game. So we're just going to see just a lot more big East Asia, asian general games or IPs going to be moving into web 3 first. I think, compared to North America.

Speaker 1:

Very cool man. I think I'm going to point my nephew in the direction of some of these games, so maybe he can be left with something at the end of the day, some tokens or something, or NFTs he could trade with, or, alex, I'm going to open it up for you if you think there's anything that we haven't spoken about today that you think might be worth mentioning. If not, maybe some words of wisdom for myself and my listeners, words of wisdom, something that I've noticed.

Speaker 2:

If you're looking to get a web 3 job, okay, bd, I think, is going to be the most valuable position in web 3 in the next year, year and a half. So if you're a BD guy and you want to get into web 3, now's the time to start looking into it. We're seeing so many different chains coming out Eventually, brad, excuse my language, but all these different chains gaming focus chains, all these new knowledge chains at the end of the day, it's the same shit, different pile. So what's going to be the separator is going to be BD. So if you're going to be BD, you're going to be getting paid more than devs, and now is a great time to start looking into that.

Speaker 2:

What have we not talked about yet? Well, I haven't talked about where to find footprints. Speaker 1:

Well, I think, I think you gave us quite a lot to digest, and you know anyone that's interested in this in this space. I think we'll have a good starting point after listening to to you speak about it this this evening or your morning. I appreciate you. You know, accommodating we're on quite different times here is you're on the other side of the world, and so so we made it happen. It's like I said, we've been trying to make it happen ever since the Futures Conference. Alex and I hope we can keep it touch and maybe we can do this again. Peter and I said next time we're going to get a couple of us on and we're going to, you know, chug a beer before the before we get on and just have a real good old Joe Rogan podcast style Maybe next time.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, dude, peter was telling me all about that. I think that'd be amazing, man. You know we could do some sort of you know drinking podcast. I think that'd be fun. I think that'd be really fun. So I definitely about that and maybe you know it'd be really great. You know, next time I'm meeting up with Peter blah, blah, blah we can get something going down. Now I see that guy like way more than I'd like to admit. So it's great, me and Peter, conference brothers, man soulbound conference bros.
