Hi, and welcome to this bonus episode of Sassin Sips. Today we are talking about Married at First Sight, Season 17, Episode 6, Lies, and Questionable Behavior. I'm Lisa, and I am sipping on red wine. Yummy, yummy, my tummy. I love it. Yummy, yummy, my tummy. It's a it's a it I don't know, it's like a red blend. I don't know. It's it was in my box. It's like akyashi. I don't know. My daughter picked it out. I was like, if it's got wine in it, it's fine. Thank you. Okay.
SPEAKER_00I am your sober co-host, Agnes. And I love that. I know. Boo, boo. I know.
SPEAKER_01I don't want to like, you know, boo sobriety, but like boo. Boo Agnes.
SPEAKER_00It's fine. It's a different thing.
SPEAKER_01Well, boo sobriety on this episode.
SPEAKER_00No, on this episode, yes. I'm just drinking uh regular iced coffee. I'm keeping it simple today. I got things to do. I gotta be a grown-up, which sucks ass. That's so that being said, I want you to want me. Okay. Um done. Thanks. See, that was easy. See you guys next week. We are going to get Lisa's ratings because it's been a while since we had Lisa's ratings. I am not going to do Lauren and Orion.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I'm gonna have ratings for them.
SPEAKER_00Okay, okay, so never mind. Okay, so for Lauren and Orion, the last rating you gave them. Oh, I just closed my damn thing. The last rating you gave them was their one-month anniversary, like one month into their the process, and you gave them a two out of ten. Yeah, well, now they can have a one out of ten. And now they are one out of ten. I wonder why. Um, no need to go into details, right?
SPEAKER_01No, I'm not giving them a zero because I just I I feel like there is some small part of Lauren that really the the door might be like closed, but it's not locked.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Becca and Austin, for their one month, you gave them a six out of ten, and then another one after that also a six out of ten. Now where do you rank them?
SPEAKER_02Out of two. No, wait, hold on. Um a three. Three, sorry. Okay, have my glasses on.
SPEAKER_01I think they're going downhill, and I I don't really know if there is a resolve for them, but I haven't I haven't given up all hope for them just yet.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Emily and Brennan, for their one month, you gave them a four out of ten, and then the one after that, you gave them a three out of ten. What do you rank them today? It's a four? I have in here a six. Uh there was a six out of ten, and then for that one month, you gave them a four out of ten. And then after that, it was a three out of ten.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. No, I know, but I just like I just have the numbers going across. I don't know. All right, maybe I said the wrong number then. Well, I I still have them at three. These numbers, this these were my ratings after last episode and before this one, FYI.
SPEAKER_00Those who are listening. Claire and Cameron, their one month, and the one after that, you gave them a one out of ten. What do you have them now? I actually bumped them up to a three.
SPEAKER_01Okay. And only because of what Cameron had said. And I, even though I don't think that those are the makings for like a healthy long-term relationship, these are my thoughts on whether or not they will stay together past decision day, if that makes sense.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Chloe and Michael, you gave them a six out of ten. That was their when they were first started. Then the last rating you gave them was uh eight out of ten. What do you rank them today?
SPEAKER_01Nine.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Let's get this party started. I think we should start off. Normally we start off with Claire and Cameron. I would like to start off. But normally we start off with hot takes. Oh, that too.
SPEAKER_01Hot takes. Any hot takes? I want to go to the shop with Michael and Chloe, fuck Brennan, fuck Austin, and that's it. Okay. Yeah. Okay, those are my hot takes. I'm gonna get like a cease and desist from uh Brennan's lawyer.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, as you can tell, he doesn't like to be spoken about negatively on camera. Guess what, Brennan? Whatever, I do we do what we want. I think Emily and Brennan is gonna be a little bit longer to discuss. Let's skip it to Chloe and Michael. Unless you want to end the note on a happy note.
SPEAKER_01No, I don't care.
SPEAKER_00Because I have a feeling with Emily and Brennan, it's gonna be a lot to say.
SPEAKER_01All right, we'll just start somewhere. It doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_00Chloe and Michael.
SPEAKER_01They're so adorable. Look at Lisa's greeting. I mean, okay. Granted, I don't know them in real life. We only know what the camera shows us, but like as of now, they are just so adorable. They are goals, you know? Okay. I like that. Visit an adult store. An adult store. And they're supposed their homework is to pick out three things that they are going to use together, which is like adorable, you know? To like, you know, facilitate the intimacy. And even though they they didn't seem like they needed help. No, but okay. And so like, yeah, I want to do stuff like that. Okay, that's it.
SPEAKER_02That's it. Oh wow.
SPEAKER_01I mean, there's not really a lot what do you say? And then and then, like, okay, and then they set up to do it. And but the whole trip to the store was like they're goofing, they're they're giggling, they're you would never realize that they've only known each other for like two weeks. If that. They just seem like to have really good energy with each other. And they are really good at not just communicating, but but being vulnerable enough to give and to receive to make the foundation stronger. And some people can't do that. Some people can't let their guard down. Not that it's not that it's right or wrong, but yeah.
SPEAKER_00Right, but as we're seeing in the other couples about letting guards down. Yeah, but sometimes And putting up the wrong barriers.
SPEAKER_01Right. And sometimes it's necessary, and sometimes it's necessary to to let them down because you can't you can't build a strong foundation on top of something that's shitty. Like everything has to be, you know, sometimes you have to knock it all down in order to build something. And they are doing a really good job of that.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Our next couple, Becca and Austin. With these two, at the beginning, like the first half of the episode. Actually, no, actually throughout the whole episode, I waffled back and forth between thinking it's uh everyone sucks or a no-asshole situation with those two. I don't know if there's this one person at fault with their relationship, or they both just not for one another, or they both are assholes, or they both are not assholes. I just don't know. And I just know it it doesn't work. Yeah. I think they let it dragged on a little bit too long. Oh, let's not talk about fucking dragging on, but yes, that's the next couple.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. I just think it's it's like you said, except that Becca has needs that are not being satisfied, whether those are sexual or emotional, you know. I mean, right, and I think that there it's both. And I think that Austin is just not the person for her. I think they had a lot of potential to work, but she needs a partner who can match her energy, and she for as easygoing as she is, she is also high maintenance. And Austin is just he's gonna land wherever the wind blows him. He is a passenger, and she she needs somebody who can take the wheel sometimes. And he's he's just not that guy, you know, and more and more you start to see like the whole, oh, and you know, like this is how he acts on camera, and it's like okay, you know, like always mindful of like how they're portrayed, then don't go on a fucking television show if you're so worried about how you're going to be portrayed. Like at some point, what was the point? I get it, we're all concerned, myself included. If I went on a reality show, like I would be, of course, having that in my mind. Well, I don't I don't want to look like an idiot, you know, I don't want to look stupid. I don't, whatever. But if you went on this show to find your person, how do you expect to find your person if you're not gonna give it 100%? Like, I just think that at some point it's like, come on, you know, that's it. I could cur.
SPEAKER_00Our next couple, Emily and Brennan. There was a scene after the dinner, and she does the personal cam, and she's like, Well, he decided that he's gonna go to his place. And mind you, this is before the group, the girls talk. And she's like, I'm a little disappointed that he decided to go to this place. At this point in time, and I get it, when you're in it, you don't see the forest for the trees. I do understand that. But at this point, at this point, this is you're past the point of where you're upset that he decided not to come to the house. There should be relief at this point of this, at this stage of the game, you this should be like, you want you want to go to your house? Bet I'll help you pack. Like, I don't understand why she's so upset.
SPEAKER_01Like he I do. She's gonna be relieved in hindsight, but I forgot about that part with Claire, and that should piss me off. Emily is upset because she feels like, and in fairness, she is the only one putting any effort into this. And that's that's the part that's disappointing her.
SPEAKER_00That's the part that's hurting her, is that she's been the only one thus far. Like it's you're past the point of this thing. If you've been the only one working, this is the point where you're like, okay, why are you still so surprised?
SPEAKER_01Right. Because she hasn't moved to that stage yet. She's still in it.
SPEAKER_00She's that's why I started off by saying, I get you like the forest of the trees. I get it when you're in it, you don't see the time frame. As a viewer, I'm telling my opinion is you should be done by now. You should have been done a long time ago at the the emotional abuse.
SPEAKER_01You also have to remember that this is something that has like a time frame. And so they're told, like, oh, you're gonna be married for what is it, like eight weeks or six weeks or whatever it is. And so I think that there's a part of them that even if they don't see this relationship lasting further than that, I think that they still all feel like they should be checked in and in it, whether it's for the experiment, the show, the optics, whatever it is. I think that Emily is very goal-driven. And for her, him backing out is a cop-out, is leaving her, is not fulfilling his part, and she's doing her part, she's doing the work. And I get that she's angry because it's like, are you kidding me? Like, this sucks. And you're not trying, but yet I'm still here. I would be angry too if I was her. I wouldn't be relieved, I would be angry afterwards. Maybe the next day or the day after, I might come to realize, like, actually, yeah. But they even say it um when they were in the dinner, uh, I forgot how it comes up. They're starting to argue, and he's like, because he's like, you made me stay, or something like that. So like you could do this. And she was like, I did, yeah, because I wasn't gonna let you be the one. Oh shit, I wish I could remember exactly how they said it, but yeah, so after their like really terrible dinner outing, you know, and it's funny because like Emily's in not not funny, but Emily's in the bathroom, she's really upset. The producer is like, cause he's because Brennan is saying, like, you're not, um, you're a negative person, like, there's so much hate in you. And I'm just like, what the fuck, Brennan? Like, I'm sorry, but there's just no way that I can believe I don't know Emily. I have never met Emily. All I know of Emily is only what I have seen on this television show, not on the internet or social media. Like, I I have no idea otherwise. I cannot imagine that she's anything other than the person that we have seen. There's no way that I will believe that when the cameras go off, that she is this hurtful, hateful, negative person that you want us to think she is, which is another example of how, you know, in all my people's court knowledge, right? It's like you have to tip the scales, you have to figure out who to believe. And so, Brennan, when you say shit like that, it really makes you doubt not just that, but everything that comes out of your mouth. Things, comments like those really make me feel like you are just a not good person. And it's anything, anything, anything to brush accountability off of yourself, which is ironic because we talked about that in another episode of Good Girls about accountability. And when we talk about bad action versus bad person, you're leaning towards bad person. Because bad action you can apologize for, but this is not bad action. You are deliberately making shit up, you are deliberately not holding yourself accountable, and that's not okay. That's sociopath behavior. And so, like, she's in the bathroom and she's talking to the producer, and the producer's like, Yeah, I don't get that. I don't, I like you're one of the most positive people like I've ever seen, you know. And we don't need the producer to co-sign that, but I just you know, whatever. And he's sitting out there and he's just like, he's like pissed off, which is also another red flag. Because you're the one who upset her. Why are you pissed off? You know what I mean? Like, why are you pissed off if she's upset? And then he's like pulling out his phone, and the way he pulled out his phone, it gave me the ick. And then later we get into that scene with um Claire, and I'm just like, I kind of am not like I'm not surprised. And it and a lot of things like make a little bit more sense, but at the same time they don't. But Claire says, you know, I I debated to tell you this, and you know, blah blah blah, but apparently he says something to Cameron about going on a double date. Okay, I've got so much because number one, I don't quite remember that part, and I don't know if that was something that we saw or not, but let's pretend like we didn't see it, right? Because I don't think we saw I don't I know we saw them at the bar and they were whatever.
SPEAKER_00No, we don't see that.
SPEAKER_01The double game there is a possibility in some world that Brennan said that and he meant Remily and Clamorin. If you're given all the benefits of all the doubts, right? Couldn't it be possible that that's what he meant? I don't I mean, maybe, maybe not. Let's brush that aside. Claire, if you knew this, why would you not tell her? Why would you hold on to that information? Oh, because I didn't want to hurt you. So you let her just go on trying to make it work with somebody who you think is seeking out other women. That pissed me off more than more than Brennan. That pissed me off. Because here you are acting like you know everything and oh, I don't want to hurt fuck you and fuck, I don't want to hurt you. If you're my friend, just fucking tell me what's going on. Just tell me. Don't hold off on that information, don't withhold it from me. But if you consider the fact that Brennan has been pursuing other interests, I'm kind of torn. And here's why. On one hand, you can kind of say, oh, well, now it makes sense why he's worried about how he looks and blah, blah, blah. But also, how does he look? If he's pursuing other interests, how does it look to his girlfriend when his girlfriend sees him get married on screen? Oh no, but it was like, how do you play that off?
SPEAKER_00If he's not a complete moron, he'll be like, I am on this TV show married at first sight, and it's not working out. Like, right. Like, oh, I've just I'm gonna be married for another like one week. You know what I mean? I know.
SPEAKER_01I just I just feel like something doesn't add up, and I don't know, I don't know where the number is missing. You know what I mean? Some parts of it make sense and some parts don't, no matter which way you try to look at it, like, yeah, he's being faithful, or yeah, he's pursuing other interests. Something still is not like I can't I can't find the missing piece.
SPEAKER_00Maybe it's just random chicks that he doesn't want a relationship with. It's just getting out. So it doesn't make a difference if he's married or not, you know.
SPEAKER_01Right. That that would actually make more sense. But what happened to the one marriage? Now I was thinking, I wonder if like he was pressured into this. Maybe he thought that, you know, and this also maybe, maybe this goes back to, you know, sexuality confusion. Maybe he was pressured into this because like his parents were giving him pressure about when you're gonna get married, when you're gonna get married. Now, of course, I've made up this whole scenario in my head. But maybe he was like, well, if I get selected for this show, like I can, you know, get married. And, you know, maybe if it doesn't work out, like you know, like what a quick and easy way to get married. Because maybe he couldn't find somebody, maybe he couldn't bring home a dude, maybe he he doesn't date women. I don't know. Maybe the women don't like him. Maybe he don't like them because they don't have a dick. I don't know. Something is just not mathing. And I don't, I can't figure out what it is. But he pisses me off, and I'm happy that she is finally speaking up for herself.
SPEAKER_00Maybe he did the series because he just in his head he thought it'd be like build a wife situation. Right. And he didn't back direct, you know, humans have free will and thoughts and emotions and feelings. Maybe that's what it was. And then he got in and he's like, wait, what? Isn't that like Stepford Build a Wife situation? And he just don't know how to react to it.
SPEAKER_01Pesky women have a minds of their own.
SPEAKER_00Fucking nerve of them. You would definitely be the perfect wife for him, Lisa. That is pure sarcasm.
SPEAKER_01I would give him Stockholm syndrome and he would love every fucking minute of it. You wouldn't unicorped. I would tell him he does. No, I think I think that there's some part of him that like was feeling pressured into marriage, and he was like, okay, well, this could work, you know, and and he has mentioned kids like right off the bat. And I think that he maybe thought that this was gonna be the quick solution get a wife, knock her up, leave her home while he's off doing whatever the fuck he wants to do, and his subservient. Wife is home barefoot and pregnant and tending to the home and the children and you know greeting him with the fucking martini when he comes home. I will say Manhattan, but yes. I don't know. What what would Brennan's drink be? Something like something appears. Yeah, probably vodka. He's Russian.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Vodka martini.
SPEAKER_01Alright, let's not knock a vodka martini.
SPEAKER_00I love a good vodka martini. I prefer gin martini, but any kind of martinis.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I'm not I'm not so into the gin martinis. I like a gin martini.
SPEAKER_00I like a good dirty gin martini.
SPEAKER_01Dirty vodka martini. I mean, really, it's just the vodka is just like an olive delivery device. But it's okay. I'm okay with it. I love olives. Okay, sorry. I was thinking about olives.
SPEAKER_00I wanted a chocolate espresso martini.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00And then my daughter has a life, so she couldn't meet me up. She couldn't meet up with me yesterday.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna have to ask Alex to make me a martini later. Oh, that's no, I can't do that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he didn't he still hasn't made me one.
SPEAKER_01I don't think I have anything else for them unless something stirs up in my memory, but So the girls' conversation, where they're all talking about the relationships, and it comes to light what Brennan has tells Emily, oh, you can't record that.
SPEAKER_00It makes you look bad. You're like doing their diaries, their video diaries. It's kind of obvious during this girl's kickback that their relationship is worse than we even thought it could be.
SPEAKER_01All right, counterpoint. Mm-hmm. You never took a video of yourself and then was like, oh, I don't like the way I look and you ri and you delete it.
SPEAKER_00It's not that. The video diary is he's telling her, like, you can't say that if you look back. It's like that one-on-one video diary. Like if she's recording her own video diary.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I mean okay, then I misunderstood it.
SPEAKER_00No, it's the video diaries that they're taking, like when the productions crew is not.
SPEAKER_01No, no, I know. But I I understood it more like he didn't like the way he looked physically. But I see. I see what you mean.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Alright. Counterpoint redacted.
SPEAKER_00Retracted? I don't know. Retracted. Redacted means you just that's what I would do on editing.
SPEAKER_01Redacted is when you block it out.
SPEAKER_00Yes, I'll be like, Pee.
SPEAKER_01Alright, so I recall I recalled my counterpoint. Okay. Like I do with dumb emails that I send.
SPEAKER_00Recall. Recall. Then there's that. There was Becca talking about how Austin is up the same person on and off camera.
SPEAKER_01Austin never takes his hat off. That's a red flag. And I should have caught that sooner.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. Seems like the healthiest relationship so far was Claire and Cameron. Out of the original four? Out of the original four. Sadly, yes. Because they were able to have adult conversations and they consciously decided to uncouple. They consciously uncoupled.
SPEAKER_01But I have to say, I think a lot of that was Cameron.
SPEAKER_00He started it. Yeah, he actually set the ball in motion, like, this is what I need, this is what you don't need. But they still, as a couple, came together, like, and you know what? You're right. This is not working. And they obviously maintain a friendship. So yeah, the other ones are a hot mess.com net. Like this season sucks ass thus far, as far as couples.
SPEAKER_01And poor Chloe. She's just sitting there like uh What the fuck is this? But even then, I feel like I can't wait to get home to him. And the babies. The fairy babies. I know. I want to live with them.
SPEAKER_00That would be weird, Lisa.
SPEAKER_01That would make them forget how weird it is when they're screaming my name.
SPEAKER_00And on that note, until next time.
SPEAKER_01Wait, was that it really? I done.
SPEAKER_00I don't know about.
SPEAKER_02I'm tapping out now. Crude.
SPEAKER_00But the funny thing is, I knew you were gonna go there. I think she's gonna I look I didn't know I didn't know what words you're going to use, but I'm like, she's gonna go there. She's going, she went there. Anyhow. So what is next? Like decision day? Okay, so there's like 600 more episodes because there's a decision day. And then you have then Chloe and Michael have theirs because there's a little bit, I think they don't do theirs at the same time as other ones do.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because they they need more time, right?
SPEAKER_00Right, but they don't get the full time, they get a little bit more time, you know. But they're not getting a full they're on it, they're on the express track. Right, they're not getting an additional four weeks, but they don't get that time. Then there's other episodes about what happens after decision day, and then there's a reunion. And it's a hot well, whatever.
SPEAKER_01At this point, I'm some juicy shit. I'm in. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's all I have to say. Juicy shit.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00So let's hang up now and stop watching the next episode.
SPEAKER_01I got 40 minutes before I have to like head up.
SPEAKER_00Be adult.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I just wish that I could like. I know the reunion already happened. I know it takes place in Colorado and like two years ago, but like I wish that there was some way that I could just be up on the stage and just be like, you're a moron. You lost out. Hey. You know?
SPEAKER_00Lisa, you really have to see season 18. I know. It's in Chicago.
SPEAKER_01I see. Like I saw the it's on Hulu.
SPEAKER_00You have to see it. Whether it was with us, whether it's for the episode or your own. If you thought this is a hot mess, girl.
SPEAKER_01All right. Well, apparently that's the one that we're doing next for your pick, you said. Are we still going to? It's a pick.
SPEAKER_00I might change. I don't know. But anyway.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's up to you. Estelle is growling at me, so I think I must it must be time for me to get off.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Yeah. What does Lisa say? Visit us at sassystips.com. Yes. All the ways. All the ways.
SPEAKER_01Don't drink and drive. Drink responsibly. Don't have your dog in the room when you're trying to record. She's Lisa. Uh-huh. And she's Agnes.
SPEAKER_00And we're out.
SPEAKER_01See you later bye.
