Welcome to today’s episode, where we’re going to talk about something that most of us—if not all of us—have wrestled with at some point in our faith: doubt.

Doubt often sneaks in during the hardest seasons of life. Maybe you’ve asked questions like:

• Why would God let this happen to me?

• If God is so good, why does this kind of suffering exist?

• Why do I have to go through this pain?

• If God really loves me, why is He allowing me to struggle?

When we face trials, loss, and uncertainty, it’s natural for our faith to be shaken. We wonder if God sees us, if He cares, and why He isn’t stepping in to fix things right now. But today, I want to encourage you—doubt does not mean you lack faith. In fact, wrestling with doubt can actually strengthen your faith if you allow it to draw you closer to God.

So let’s dive into how we can overcome doubt, hold onto our faith, and trust God even when life doesn’t make sense.

Why Do We Struggle with Doubt?

Doubt is not new. Even some of the most faithful people in the Bible questioned God.

• John the Baptist, the very one who baptized Jesus and declared Him the Lamb of God, later found himself in prison, questioning, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” (Matthew 11:3).

• Job, a man described as righteous, lost everything and cried out, “Why do you hide your face and consider me your enemy?” (Job 13:24).

• Even Jesus Himself, in His deepest agony on the cross, cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46).

If you have ever questioned God, you are not alone. Doubt is not a sign of weak faith—it’s a sign that your faith is being tested and refined.

But how do we move from doubt to trust? How do we stand firm when life feels unfair and God seems silent?

1. Remember That God Sees the Bigger Picture

One of the hardest things to accept is that we don’t always get the answers we want. When suffering comes, we want immediate relief, and when we don’t get it, we assume God isn’t listening.

But Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us:

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

We see only a tiny fraction of the story. God sees the entire masterpiece. What feels like pain and confusion now may actually be part of something greater than we can imagine.

Think about Joseph:

• He was sold into slavery by his own brothers.

• He was wrongly imprisoned for years.

• He had every reason to question, God, why is this happening to me?

• But years later, he became second-in-command of Egypt, saving thousands of lives—including his own family.

What seemed like suffering and injustice was actually preparation for a greater purpose.

God is not just allowing suffering for no reason—He is always working, even when we can’t see it yet.

2. Understand That Faith Is Trusting Even Without All the Answers

Many people think that faith means never having doubts. But the truth is, faith is trusting God even when you don’t have all the answers.

Hebrews 11:1 says:

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Faith isn’t about having everything figured out—it’s about believing that even when life is uncertain, God is still good.

Think about Peter walking on water (Matthew 14:22-33). As long as he kept his eyes on Jesus, he walked on water. But the moment he focused on the wind and waves, he started to sink.

Doubt will always creep in when we focus more on the storm than on the Savior.

So when questions arise, don’t let them push you away from God—let them draw you closer to Him.

3. Be Honest with God About Your Doubts

God is not afraid of your questions. He is not disappointed in you for struggling with doubt.

Look at the book of Psalms—David, a man after God’s own heart, cried out in raw honesty:

“How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?” (Psalm 13:1)

God wants you to come to Him with your doubts, fears, and struggles. He wants a real relationship with you—not one where you pretend everything is fine.

Practical step:

• Instead of bottling up your questions, bring them to God in prayer.

• Say, “God, I don’t understand this, but I’m choosing to trust You.”

4. Surround Yourself with Truth, Not Just Feelings

Our emotions are real, but they are not always reliable. When you’re struggling with doubt, you need to be surrounded by God’s truth.

Romans 10:17 says:

“Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”

What you fill your mind with will shape your faith.

Practical steps:

• Spend time in Scripture daily, even if it’s just one verse.

• Listen to worship music that reminds you of God’s promises.

• Surround yourself with godly friends who can encourage you when your faith feels weak.

5. Look Back at God’s Faithfulness

When doubt creeps in, take a moment to look back.

• How many times has God come through for you before?

• What prayers has He answered in ways you didn’t expect?

• What moments in your past can you point to where you know God was working?

Psalm 77:11 says:

“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.”

If God was faithful then, He will be faithful now.

6. Trust That Suffering Has a Purpose

This is one of the hardest truths to accept, but God can use even the worst situations for good.

Romans 8:28 says:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Not everything that happens to us is good—but God can use it for good.

Jesus Himself suffered. He was betrayed, beaten, and crucified. His disciples didn’t understand why—but His suffering led to the greatest victory in history.

Your suffering may not make sense right now. But God is working in ways you cannot see.

Final Encouragement: You’re Not Alone

Doubt is part of the journey, but you don’t have to stay there.

If you’re struggling with questions, that’s okay. But keep seeking. Keep praying. Keep holding on to what you know is true.

God is not distant. He is not ignoring you. He is right there in the middle of your struggle, working behind the scenes in ways you can’t imagine.

So today, choose faith—even when it’s hard. Choose trust—even when you don’t understand. And remember, God is still in control.

I hope today’s episode encouraged you. If you’re in a season of doubt, take heart—you are not alone, and your faith is not failing. If this episode spoke to you, share it with someone who might need the same encouragement.

Until next time, keep holding on, keep believing, and trust that God is working—even in the waiting.
