The truth is, the world’s definition of success is often empty and unfulfilling. God has called us to something greater than just success—He has called us to significance.

• Comfort & Luxury – Buying the dream home, the luxury car, the perfect life.

We chase after these things because we believe they will bring fulfillment.

But how often do we see successful people—celebrities, CEOs, influencers—who seem to have everything, yet they’re still empty, unhappy, and searching for meaning?

Ecclesiastes 2:11 says:

“Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.”

Solomon—one of the richest and most powerful men in history—had everything the world defines as success. But in the end, he realized it was all meaningless without God.

2. What Does the Bible Say About True Success?

God’s definition of success is completely different from the world’s.

Joshua 1:8 says:

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

One day, we will all stand before God, and He won’t ask how much money we made or how high we climbed the corporate ladder. Instead, He will ask, “What did you do with what I gave you?”

Matthew 25:21 says:

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”

At the end of our lives, true success is hearing those words from God.

4. How to Redefine Achievement with Biblical Wisdom

If we want to shift from success to significance, we have to change our mindset.

We often set goals based on what we want, but have we stopped to ask what God wants?

Proverbs 16:3 says:

Instead of asking, “How can I succeed?” ask, “How can I serve?”

2. Measure Success by Faithfulness, Not Results

God doesn’t call us to be the best in the world—He calls us to be faithful where He has placed us.

1 Corinthians 4:2 says:

“Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.”

Success isn’t about how much we accomplish—it’s about how faithful we are with what God has given us.

• Each day, ask yourself, “Am I being faithful in the small things today?”

Jesus Himself—the most significant person in history—didn’t seek status, He served.
