Welcome to today’s episode, where we’re tackling a topic that many of us have wrestled with—what does true success really look like?

In today’s world, success is often defined by climbing the corporate ladder, achieving financial wealth, gaining recognition, and living the so-called “American Dream.” We feel this constant pressure to do more, be more, and accomplish more. But is that really what God intended for us?

The truth is, the world’s definition of success is often empty and unfulfilling. God has called us to something greater than just success—He has called us to significance.

So today, we’re going to talk about:

• The difference between worldly success and godly significance.

• How to redefine achievement with biblical wisdom.

• How to shift our focus from personal ambition to kingdom purpose.

Because when we chase after what God values, we don’t just build careers—we build legacies that matter for eternity.

1. What Does the World Say About Success?

The world tells us that success is all about:

• Status – Climbing higher on the corporate ladder.

• Money – The bigger the paycheck, the better.

• Recognition – Earning titles, awards, and validation from others.

• Comfort & Luxury – Buying the dream home, the luxury car, the perfect life.

We chase after these things because we believe they will bring fulfillment.

But how often do we see successful people—celebrities, CEOs, influencers—who seem to have everything, yet they’re still empty, unhappy, and searching for meaning?

Ecclesiastes 2:11 says:

“Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.”

Solomon—one of the richest and most powerful men in history—had everything the world defines as success. But in the end, he realized it was all meaningless without God.

2. What Does the Bible Say About True Success?

God’s definition of success is completely different from the world’s.

Joshua 1:8 says:

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

Notice that success here is not about money, fame, or status. It’s about walking in obedience to God’s Word.

Success in God’s eyes is about:

• Faithfulness over fame.

• Obedience over ambition.

• Serving others over seeking status.

Matthew 6:33 reminds us:

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

When we seek God’s priorities first, everything else falls into place.

3. Success vs. Significance: What Are You Really Chasing?

There’s a huge difference between success and significance:

Worldly Success:

✔ Focuses on what we achieve for ourselves.

✔ Measures value by wealth, position, and influence.

✔ Can lead to burnout, stress, and dissatisfaction.

✔ Leaves a temporary earthly impact.

Godly Significance:

✔ Focuses on what we do for others and God’s Kingdom.

✔ Measures value by faithfulness, character, and obedience.

✔ Leads to peace, purpose, and eternal rewards.

✔ Leaves a lasting spiritual legacy.

One day, we will all stand before God, and He won’t ask how much money we made or how high we climbed the corporate ladder. Instead, He will ask, “What did you do with what I gave you?”

Matthew 25:21 says:

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”

At the end of our lives, true success is hearing those words from God.

4. How to Redefine Achievement with Biblical Wisdom

If we want to shift from success to significance, we have to change our mindset.

1. Seek God’s Purpose, Not Just Personal Goals

We often set goals based on what we want, but have we stopped to ask what God wants?

Proverbs 16:3 says:

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

Instead of asking, “How can I succeed?” ask, “How can I serve?”

Practical Step:

• Write down your career and life goals. Then pray, “God, how do You want to use these for Your glory?”

2. Measure Success by Faithfulness, Not Results

God doesn’t call us to be the best in the world—He calls us to be faithful where He has placed us.

1 Corinthians 4:2 says:

“Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.”

Success isn’t about how much we accomplish—it’s about how faithful we are with what God has given us.

Practical Step:

• Each day, ask yourself, “Am I being faithful in the small things today?”

3. Serve Others Instead of Seeking Status

Jesus Himself—the most significant person in history—didn’t seek status, He served.

Mark 10:45 says:

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

If we want to live lives of true significance, we must put others before ourselves.

Practical Step:

• Look for ways to serve others in your work, community, and daily life.

4. Trust God With the Outcome

Many of us are so focused on achieving success that we forget to trust God with the results.

Proverbs 19:21 says:

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

If we pursue God’s will, He will take care of the details.

Practical Step:

• Surrender your ambitions to God and trust that He will open the right doors at the right time.

Final Encouragement: Living for Something Greater Than Success

God has something so much greater for you than just chasing success.

He wants you to:

✔ Find purpose in serving others.

✔ Experience fulfillment in faithfulness, not achievements.

✔ Leave a legacy that matters beyond this life.

So today, ask yourself:

• Am I chasing worldly success or godly significance?

• Am I building a life that will matter for eternity?

• Am I measuring success by what God values, not just what the world celebrates?

Because when we live for what truly matters, we don’t just find success—we find purpose, joy, and eternal significance.

I hope today’s episode encouraged you to redefine success through God’s eyes. If this message spoke to you, share it with someone who might need the same encouragement.

Until next time, keep seeking God’s purpose, keep trusting His plan, and remember—true success is found in a life lived for His glory.
