Welcome to today’s episode, where we’re talking about something deeply personal and often difficult—healing from past trauma.

Trauma leaves scars, whether it comes from a painful childhood, betrayal, loss, abuse, rejection, or life-altering events. It can feel impossible to move forward when the past still haunts you.

But here’s the truth: God is a healer.

He doesn’t want us to stay trapped in pain—He wants to redeem, restore, and renew.

So today, we’re going to talk about:

• What the Bible says about healing from trauma.

• How faith plays a role in emotional and spiritual restoration.

• Practical ways to surrender pain to God and find peace.

If you’ve ever wondered, Can I really heal from this?, the answer is yes—through Christ, healing is possible.

1. God Sees Your Pain and Cares Deeply

One of the biggest struggles in healing from trauma is feeling alone—like no one understands or sees your pain. But God sees you, and He cares.

Psalm 34:18 says:

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Maybe you’ve been carrying wounds that no one else knows about. But God knows. He sees every tear, every painful memory, every moment of struggle.

You don’t have to pretend you’re okay—God invites you to bring your pain to Him.

Practical Step:

• In prayer, be completely honest with God. Say, “Lord, I am hurting, and I need You to heal me.”

2. Acknowledging the Pain Instead of Burying It

Many people try to heal by ignoring or burying their trauma, hoping that time will make it go away. But healing starts with facing the pain, not avoiding it.

Psalm 147:3 says:

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

God cannot heal what we refuse to bring to Him.

Steps to Acknowledge and Begin Healing:

• Write it out. Journaling about what happened can bring clarity.

• Talk to someone you trust. A mentor, pastor, or counselor can help process emotions.

• Bring it to God. He is not afraid of your pain—He wants to carry it with you.

Practical Step:

• Ask yourself, “What pain have I been avoiding?” Pray and invite God into those memories.

3. Replacing Lies With God’s Truth

Trauma often distorts our identity and causes us to believe lies:

• “I’m not worthy of love.”

• “I’ll never be whole again.”

• “I am defined by what happened to me.”

But these are lies from the enemy. The truth is:

✔ You are loved. (Jeremiah 31:3)

✔ You are not your past. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

✔ God has a purpose for you beyond your pain. (Romans 8:28)

How to Replace Lies With Truth:

1. Identify the negative thoughts that keep you stuck.

2. Find a Bible verse that speaks truth over that lie.

3. Repeat and declare that truth daily.

Practical Step:

• If you struggle with feeling unworthy, meditate on Isaiah 43:1: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine.”

4. Forgiveness as a Key to Healing

Forgiveness does not mean excusing what happened or forgetting the pain—it means choosing to release it to God.

Colossians 3:13 says:

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

Forgiveness is not for the person who hurt you—it’s for you. It frees you from the weight of bitterness and allows healing to begin.

Practical Step:

• Pray: “Lord, help me to release this person and give the pain to You.” It’s a process, but each step forward leads to freedom.

5. Inviting God Into the Healing Process

Healing is not about trying harder—it’s about letting God restore what is broken.

Matthew 11:28 says:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

This is an invitation to lay your pain at Jesus’ feet and allow Him to bring peace.

Ways to Let God Heal You:

✔ Spend time in prayer and worship. Let His presence bring peace.

✔ Read His promises. Fill your mind with Scriptures about healing.

✔ Ask for help. God often uses community, counselors, and pastors to help in the healing journey.

Practical Step:

• Take a deep breath and say, “Lord, I surrender my pain to You. Heal my heart.”

6. Moving Forward With Hope

You may not heal overnight, but with each step of faith, God brings restoration.

Isaiah 61:3 says:

“To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”

God takes ashes and turns them into beauty. He takes what was meant for harm and uses it for good.

✔ Your past does not define you.

✔ Healing is possible through Christ.

✔ You can walk in freedom, joy, and peace.

Practical Step:

• Each morning, declare: “God is healing me. I am not stuck in my past—I am walking into a future filled with hope.”

Final Encouragement: God Is Writing a New Story

Healing from trauma is a journey, but you are not alone.

God is walking with you, guiding you, and healing your heart. No matter what you’ve been through, He has a purpose for your life that is greater than your pain.

So today, ask yourself:

• What pain do I need to surrender to God?

• What truth do I need to believe about my identity in Christ?

• Am I willing to let God begin the healing process in my heart?

Because when you step into God’s healing, you step into the beautiful future He has prepared for you.
