Snowmageddon Forces A Pivot: Winter Blitz Moves To February 28, 2026
A storm with a name is bearing down on the Ohio Valley and mid-south, and that changed everything. We hit record to get a clear, direct update out fast: Winter Blitz moves to Saturday, February 28, 2026. Same venue, same plan, just smarter timing so no one risks a long drive on icy roads. Consider it a bonus window to finish your build, refine that finish, or finally try the stencil set that’s been staring at you from the bench.
We walk through how the decision came together and why venue relationships matter. A flexible museum partner meant the organizers could pivot without losing momentum, vendors, or goodwill. Along the way, we open our Model Show Spotlight calendar and invite clubs with February, March, or April dates to pitch their events. Tell us your categories, your surprises, and the small details that make your show easy to love. When information is clear and personal, more modelers show up, and the scene grows stronger.
Community recognition fuels the hobby, so we update our lighthearted “agent” roster to thank the folks who keep this thing moving—from the Indy connector who solved the famous patty run, to the straight-shooting blogger who pressure-tests our ideas, to the Winter Blitz leader who keeps raising the bar. We also tease an ambitious 1/32 SBD Dauntless build headed to the dojo, loaded with aftermarket and stencil work that will spark questions and copycat courage.
If the storm keeps you home, cue the kettle, sharpen a blade, and make progress while the snow stacks up. Then spread the word so no one makes a wasted trip: Winter Blitz is February 28, 2026. If you enjoy these updates and the community love, tap follow, share this with a friend who needs it, and leave a quick review—what are you building before the new date?

Mike and Kentucky Dave thank each and everyone of you for participating on this journey with us.
All right, Kentucky Dave. We got a hot take tonight.
Kentucky Dave:Yes, we've got a special, special announcement.
Mike:Yep, a public service announcement for our buddy Brandon Jacob at Winter Blitz. If folks are unaware, particularly on the West Coast, could probably care less, Dave. Right. But if you're in the Ohio Valley all the way down through the mid-south, Snow Mageddon's coming, apparently. Yep.
Kentucky Dave:The weather channel has named the storm.
Mike:So that's how you know it's a big one. Is it Winter Blitz?
Kentucky Dave:No, it's not Winter Blitz.
Mike:Well, Dave, to borrow a line from the Andy Griffith show. Yep. I don't know what you had for dinner, but I know what Brandon Jacob's having for dinner.
Kentucky Dave:Which is Crow. Yep. Poor guy.
Mike:Poor guy came on when in our in our pregame warm up. He said, I want to make sure I mention the weather and how it's not going to stop this thing. Well, best laid plans of mice and man, Dave. Yep. Winter Blitz has been postponed from the end of January to the end of February. Saturday, February 28th is the new date, 2026. Location is the same. Everything else is the same. It's all on the website, which is www.winterhyphen Blitz.com. And just want folks to know, we want to give Brandon a little help here because he's been sending out an email came out, but the email list was not, I'm sure it was not all inclusive.
Kentucky Dave:Yeah. Well, if he hasn't posted it on the dojo, I'll post it on the dojo as well.
Mike:So if if this gets to one person, that's the only way to hear about it, and they they're spared a trip to something that's not happening, or running their car off in a ditch because of the snow trying to get there.
Kentucky Dave:Yeah.
Mike:It will have been worth the few minutes we're going to take to do this.
Kentucky Dave:Well, and all teasing aside with Brandon, I mean, the the way they're talking about this storm, it really does look like it's going to be a significant event. And discretion is a better part of valor in a situation like that.
Mike:Thankful on his for him or his sake that the they had a museum situation where they could pivot and not have to worry about some other person renting this place on that date. So they could they could move the show on a dime. So that's a great position to be in.
Kentucky Dave:It is. That's another another thing that makes the their their show and that facility so good.
Mike:So folks, please take notice. Winter Blitz has moved from or moved to Saturday, February 28th. So you got a few more weeks to finish those builds, if nothing else.
Kentucky Dave:That's right.
Mike:Well, this is an up-and-coming show still. He's a few years into it, but uh it seems to keep getting better and better. And and uh this is one we love to support. So when he sent that email, I knew we needed to do this. Yep. Well, this may or may not be, Dave, the uh the model show spotlight for for January, for the February shows. I guess I guess it is for February show now. Well, yeah. We'll see. Well, to be determined. We'll see. We got some irons in the fire. I don't know, Dave. I don't know if it was the holidays or what, but we've had a little trouble getting the getting the cattle wrestled for uh for January, February. But uh, clubs, if you're out there listening, going forward for February, March, and April, we already have one of our typical two spots filled for those months. So if you would think you would want to have your show featured on the model show Spotlight in an upcoming month on Plastic Model Mojo, please reach out and let me know. We'll probably reach out to a few that we find interesting, but we always like to have them come back directly from the clubs who who know we're doing this and uh want to be featured. So please step up and let us know.
Kentucky Dave:Yes, please do it. We love doing this. We are, as you know from listening to the podcast, Mike and I are really committed to particularly the local contests and the value of the local contest.
Mike:Local shows, Dave. We gotta get your vernacular.
Kentucky Dave:I'm sorry, local shows. You're right. That is the better phrasing.
Mike:Well, Dave, while we got folks' attention, we mentioned Brandon Jacoby and Mo Jovian Special Agent 003. We want to kind of do a little housekeeping on our recognitions.
Kentucky Dave:We we've needed to do this for some time, and it just works out that this that we have the ability to do this here.
Mike:So, you know, some folks out there may think this is a little corny. We think it's fun, so we're gonna do it. It's our show. So if you don't like it, you can do it. Not do it on your podcast. Right. We kind of started this on a lark back when we first started the show. We first it's our second trip to Indy. Yes, is what it was. So we in the theme of James Bond, we started these uh double knot special agents for uh Mojovia, our kind of fictitious uh nation of listeners. Well, the nation of listeners is real, but the name is not. So in that regard, Agent Double Double Double O one is Michael Radsky from the Indy Club.
Kentucky Dave:Yes, who hooks us up with our Jamaican meat patties.
Mike:That's right. He was the one who answered the call that we needed some Jamaican meat patties from patties of Jamaica in Indianapolis because uh those cats aren't open on the weekends, which is kind of I know, which is bizarre. Hey, if you sell enough, you don't have to work on Saturday.
Kentucky Dave:That's true, and and I see why they sell so many.
Mike:So, Michael, thank you for that. And actually the Indy show. I don't know if he's gonna be the spokesman, but he reached out on behalf of the indie show, so they're gonna be a model show spotlight coming up. I don't think we've ever done indie, Dave.
Kentucky Dave:I don't think we have as a model show spotlight. I mean, we've gone to it. We've uh Well, we've gone today.
Mike:They've moved their date a little close to HeritageCon for us.
Kentucky Dave:Yes, I know.
Mike:Uh unfortunately, we'd like to go both. We'll we'll get back at some point.
Kentucky Dave:Yes, we will.
Mike:We look forward to having them on to talk about that show because it's you know, for an early in the year, well, not anymore. It's in March. It's a good one to go to.
Kentucky Dave:It is indeed.
Mike:The facility's pretty good, the vendors are good, usually pretty good crowds. So we'll talk about that more at the model show spotlight for whichever month's coming up. I guess that'll be February. Yeah. Well, Agent Double O two is Mr. Stephen Lee to hosts the uh Sprue Pie with Fretz blog. And we always pitch that in our in our pitch segment every episode. And I just want to thank Steven for going on. I you know, this reminds me, Dave. I mean I said in in the last one of the last episodes that this was our sixth year of doing this podcast. That's not true. We've done it, we we've done it for six years. Six years.
Kentucky Dave:This is technically our seventh year. Yes.
Mike:Well, for seven years, seven, six years and change, going on seven years. Stephen Lee has been a stalwart listener of the show, supporter of the show, and a good sounding board for ideas, opinions. We've always appreciated his candor and questions we've asked him about things going on in the hobby, what he thinks about our podcast ideas, et cetera. And just want to recognize Steven one more time for uh for doing that for us. It's always great to have a a person who's like not affiliated directly with the show to be able to bounce stuff off of because he's gonna give us a he's gonna give us a straight opinion, whether he likes it or not. Well, he likes giving the opinion, I'm sure, but whether it's a positive or negative response to what we're suggesting, he's gonna give us a straight answer, and we really appreciate that.
Kentucky Dave:We do, and it's always a great time when we run into him either at a show or he was actually in Louisville last year, and we got to take him to our local hobby shop, and we got to we got to have a nice, nice little dinner together. So it's always a great time when you run into Steven.
Mike:We mentioned already Agent 003 is Brandon Jacob, the host of well, one of the principal guys for Winter Blitz, one of the founding idea makers for this show. Yep, and world traveler. World traveler.
Kentucky Dave:The man has hiked more places than uh uh you and I have ever gone.
Mike:Ever driven you.
Kentucky Dave:Yeah.
Mike:And is married to a apparently a wonderful woman who likes to do it too. So that's gotta be great. Yep. Well, Brandon came to us not because of winter blitz, but well, I think we got to know him the first time he wanted to pitch this thing.
Kentucky Dave:Yes, we did, but he the original impetus was San Marcos, and he was uh he was our local uh information guy for places to eat, things to do, just all of the things around the show in San Marcos. And you and I have always said that when you go to a national, if you just stay at the show and you don't go out and experience the local, the the local restaurants, the local flavor of the place, you're really missing a lot.
Mike:You are. So I'm looking forward to Fort Wayne because we're gonna take in some minor league baseball.
Kentucky Dave:Yes.
Mike:Unless it rains. We might still might if we can get some covered seats. I don't know.
Kentucky Dave:Yeah.
Mike:But but you know, there's we got a whole new downtown area to figure out and find the cool spots, and just really, really looking forward to it. Me too. I wonder if we need a man on the ground for uh Fort Wayne.
Kentucky Dave:Yeah, we got do we have a listener in Fort Wayne? If you are, reach out to us. We'd we'd like a local to give us the lay of the land. Well, that's the agents up till tonight.
Mike:And we've got a couple more we want to recognize tonight. We're a little delinquent on this. We've had a lot going on, Dave.
Kentucky Dave:I know we have. Well, you your whole last year was filled, I mean, non-modeling related.
Mike:So a zoo. It was. It was a zoo. Mad Parade is what I like to call it. The Mad Parade. Agent 004, Dave. Mr. Bob Bear in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Kentucky Dave:But we have been terribly remiss in not getting this out there because Bob has been a friend, a big supporter of the show. He's done a lot of stuff for us. He's recorded the many of the ads and and stuff like that. But in addition to that, Bob's just been a great friend. He's constantly reaching out to us saying, Hey, heard this, or giving us feedback, or also saying, you know, is there something I can do to help? And we really, really appreciate that.
Mike:In fact, he sent an email not too long ago saying he was at our beck and call for the coming year. So, Bob, enjoy your 004 status and all that it brings you.
Kentucky Dave:Yeah, that's right. Don't don't spend the monetary award all in one place.
Mike:Yeah, that's a lot of gumballs.
Kentucky Dave:Right.
Mike:And thank you for all you've done for Plastic Model Mojo. Double O five, Dave. Yep. Mr. Ed Bareth out in LA. Who we are happy to hear is feeling better. He is. He's had some medical challenges over 2025 and seems to be getting the upper hand on that. So we're we're we're very thankful for that, Ed. We wish you wish you the best.
Kentucky Dave:We met Ed in Las Vegas. We did. In 2021. And man, that turned out to be serendipitous for us. I mean, you could tell from the moment we met him and started talk talking with him that here was a guy who A had a lot of knowledge, B, had a lot of passion, and C was willing to share with anybody anything he had information or an insight on.
Mike:That's right. And he's also a musician, Dave. Yes, he is. Which is why he's getting his double O status as 005, because Ed has provided our bass rift bump music for plastic model mojo, and he doesn't know it yet. I'm about to hit him up for some fresh ones because uh we might need some new ones, Dave.
Kentucky Dave:Yeah, we're doing a little revamping in 2026.
Mike:In addition to that, Ed is just about to kick off a build of the of a 132nd scale SBD Dauntless.
Kentucky Dave:Oh.
Mike:And folks are gonna get to enjoy that on the plastic model dojo.
Kentucky Dave:Yep.
Mike:It's gonna be a great build with, well, in a big scale with a lot of aftermarket, and he's gonna be using the one in Man Army stencils on that. He's looking forward to it, and and so am I.
Kentucky Dave:Given what he did with that 48 scale Kingfisher, yeah. I have zero doubt that this Dauntless is gonna kick butt.
Mike:Well, he had a 30-second scale Kingfisher.
Kentucky Dave:That's what I meant. 30 seconds, sorry. 30 second scale. The one we saw in Vegas that ended up ended up being the impetus for us to search him out.
Mike:All right. Well, Dave, that has got us caught up.
Kentucky Dave:Okay. And maybe we got one pending?
Mike:We have 006 pending, and I'm gonna sit on that one till our next feature episode, Dave. So folks, that sounds good. If you if you give a crap about any of this or just curious, we hope you listen to the episode anyway.
Kentucky Dave:Yeah.
Mike:But Agent 006 will be announced shortly, and man, the coveted one, 007 is gonna be out there for grabs. We'll be up for grabs. Hope we get some help from somebody that's uh gonna earn them that title. So we appreciate it. Well, Dave, you better hunker down for uh Snow Mageddon 2026.
Kentucky Dave:I was gonna say, as soon as we're finished recording this, I'm running out to the grocery store to get bread, milk, and eggs, man.
Mike:Gotta be prepared for French toast. I always wonder why syrup isn't on that list.
Kentucky Dave:You know, that is really weird. And neither is bacon, although it's always on my list.
Mike:Powdered sugar. What do you do on your French toast?
Kentucky Dave:I I do syrup mostly, but I'll do an occasional powdered powdered sugar.
Mike:Get your powdered sugar syrup, folks.
Kentucky Dave:Yep.
Mike:Well, I don't know how bad it's gonna be. I think the base basically it's it's not gonna be great.
Kentucky Dave:Yeah.
Mike:To real too really, really crappy. So uh we'll see.
Kentucky Dave:Well, hunker down, use the time to go model, because that's what I'm gonna do.
Mike:Oh, me too. And winter blitz isn't until the end of February, February 28th, folks. Winter Blitz has moved. Yep. If you were going, make sure you know. And now you do.
