The Trio
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A flood video, a celebrity meltdown, and a salon confession walk into a podcast and somehow it all makes sense. We sit down as a trio with Courtney joining Paulie and Dr. Jones, and we let the conversation run where it wants: from Hurricane Ian footage and the weird reality of viral “current events” to the nonstop pop culture machine that keeps feeding people outrage, fascination, and hot takes.
We get into Kanye West headlines, why the internet loves a villain arc, and how “accountability” changes depending on who feels targeted that week. Then we pivot into music and nostalgia with Blink-182, skate memories, and the kind of side quests that happen when three friends are comfortable enough to say the quiet part out loud.
The big new addition is our segment “Confidential Clients,” inspired by what Courtney hears every day behind the salon chair. People overshare, confess, and casually drop stories that sound fake until you remember real life is stranger than scripted TV. From there we drift into skate trip dreams, New York City impressions, classic skate shoe debates (yes, we talk Half Cabs), and we finish with the beautiful chaos of parenting, pets, and responsibility lessons gone wrong.
If you like an unfiltered comedy podcast with current events, pop culture commentary, salon stories, and skateboarding culture, hit play. Subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a five-star rating if it made you laugh or cringe.
Cold Open And Housekeeping
SPEAKER_11Or at least it's blind of high volume. Fucking item.
SPEAKER_10Get the fuck out of here.
SPEAKER_09Hey everybody, it's your boy Pauly Walnuts. You know it. All day, every day. That one ain't gonna get old anytime soon. And of course, I got my partner in crime, the one and only, a Dr. Jones. Dr.
SPEAKER_03Jones!
unknownDr. Jones!
SPEAKER_09What is good about?
SPEAKER_08I had to stop watching Gray's anatomy to do this, dude. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Damn, man. That fucking handicap life is uh pretty easy, right? Shit. No. Um super stoked to everybody uh joining and uh tuning in. If you don't mind, take this time to go ahead, like, subscribe, share the podcast, the YouTube channel, the Instagram, all that good stuff. Giving us a five-star rating is the best way to uh show your support. So if you don't mind, take this time to go ahead and uh and do that. But uh for today's episode.
SPEAKER_08Tell your dads, tell your kids.
SPEAKER_09That's right. Tell the tell the world. Um yeah, for this episode, uh, we recorded this about two weeks ago or so. We're uh calling this one the the trio. Uh trio amigos. Yep, try' caballeros, uh is myself and of course the doctor, and we had my lovely, beautiful uh wife, Mrs. Walnuts, uh, Mama Walnuts, uh Courtney Bells uh join us. Yep, you know it. Um your surrogates. Uh we uh we as we strive to continue to put out more content consistently and uh just kind of show the world that we're uh goofy and uh we're more than just a couple of dumb skateboarders. Um we figured we would sit down. We'd we played a couple of games and we discussed a myriad of uh topics from uh Hurricane Ian to Kanye West and Kim Kardashian and Drake and we talked about a whole bunch of random shit.
SPEAKER_08Confidential clients, dude?
SPEAKER_09Confidential, yeah. We played a game, news uh news segment, News with Idiots, and we uh another one, not a game, but uh a new segment, uh Confidential Clients, uh, where we hear some stories, uh tales, if you will, from the uh the salon chair. Um and uh sorry, Siri on my watch just started talking to me. But um, yeah, people definitely share way too much and disclose way too much personal information with their hairstylists. And so uh with complete and and anonymity, there we go. Um we got a new little segment that we think we'll you'll enjoy. We it developed on the fly. We had a blast. Yeah, we didn't see that one, Kevin. No, not at all. But um, we appreciate everybody for tuning in. Um we hope you enjoy this and uh stay tuned uh for our next episode. We've got uh um who we got scheduled this uh coming weekend to sit down with.
SPEAKER_08Well, we got we got Lauren on Sunday.
SPEAKER_09Yes. The better half of Drew Hoffman, soon to be Mrs. Hoffman, Lauren Kenora at Smash It Up. We're sitting down with her this Sunday, so uh next week tune in for that episode to be dropping. And uh yeah, for now, sit tight, enjoy the ride. Let's fucking get it. Here we go. Episode 42, the trio Polly Walnuts, Dr. Jones, Courtney Bells. Let's get it. Let's get it.
News With Idiots Begins
SPEAKER_03We interrupt our program to bring you this important message.
SPEAKER_02When news breaks in the Tri-State area or the world, you will hear it here on News.
SPEAKER_09And I got the doctor. It's everybody's favorite co-host. That's right, we're here with a brand new program. We're calling News with Idiots because we've got current events and we are a couple of idiots. So uh quite sure they're putting might not even be current anymore. No, they could be a couple weeks old, but we're not really concerned with
Hurricane Ian And Viral Flood Clips
SPEAKER_09that. Uh let's go ahead and we'll we'll talk about Hurricane Ian real quick because that just came through and it's not so current. Current event. Pretty sure they're still occurring down in uh Fort Myers on the fucking highway, so yeah, uh what is left of Fort Myers, but uh no, I just wanted to uh show this leading up to the storm. Um, and this is what makes these storms so dangerous. Uh down in Miami. Did you guys see this video? Um here is what is the king tide wiping away. Like this was the lead up to the storm. And uh that's a cop's car too. Yeah, six people were washed away. Shh, washed away. Yeah, they were like on the beach too close, and then that wave came in like of surge of tide and pushed them into the channel, and they ended up having to be rescued, and six people had to be taken to the hospital for minor minor injuries. But um here, check that out, babe. Did you see that? This is like there was beach there before, and then all of a sudden the tide just came in that quickly. Pushed the cop SUV, it uh washed like six people into the inlet.
SPEAKER_08Did you see the um picture of fucking um the shark on the highway swimming and everything?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, but was that real or photoshopped?
SPEAKER_08I'm pretty sure that one's real. But they also have like videos of like people in their neighborhoods like with their entire streets flooded, and then there's just like an alligator head like popping up and shit. Right. That would be terrifying.
SPEAKER_09Absolutely terrifying. Um I know that some of those though have been um photoshopped.
SPEAKER_08Uh, like that one with the scroll that I sent you the other day. The trailer's just to the bottom of the floor.
SPEAKER_09So I was pulling up this next uh video because speaking of Ian, this guy's kind of going viral and gets uh Florida man of the week. Um see that amount of water there? He owns this Harley Davidson so he successfully waterproofed his business. He took like you'll see here quick when the motorcycles come up.
SPEAKER_06It looks like it's holding up.
SPEAKER_09So he sprayed like spray foam, like the spray insulation like we use around windows and doors and stuff. Yeah. Um, he sprayed that around and under his doors. And in windows and everything, and then he put flex seal on top of them. This looks like a flex seal like infomercial. Exactly, and it worked. And he he he like has a Midwest, he owns uh what is what does this say? Uh Midwest motorcycle sales and rental shout-outs to to them because that guy was able to successfully engineer uh a waterproofing method that held up to uh hurricane flooding and and stored storm surge. So uh ironically it goes in.
SPEAKER_05I think you did that for the salon as well. I mean, you definitely went above and beyond.
SPEAKER_09That's round of applause for me. I'm not sure if you can hear that.
SPEAKER_05But that is a drop of water in that swan over the hurricane.
SPEAKER_09Yes, but we also,
Flex Seal Energy And CBD Farming
SPEAKER_09let's be real, we didn't have three feet of flooding outside there.
SPEAKER_05Dude, um I'm trying to give you credit though, babe.
SPEAKER_09No, I know. Yeah, so hey, speaking of the mic a little bit more, babe.
SPEAKER_08So uh there you go. Speaking of like flex deal and all that kind of shit, like infomercial like uh sellers, um, on Vice, they have this uh show called King of Cush. And it's like the main dude is like uh the best way to like make y'all aware of who he is, he was a shamwau guy.
SPEAKER_09Yes, the shamwau guy. I knew the sham wow guy. So he went and like bought like a fish. Remember Sham Wow, babe?
SPEAKER_05It was like a microfiber towel, right now. Yeah, yes, exactly what it is.
SPEAKER_09The new spokeswoman, Mrs. Walnuts, ladies and gentlemen.
SPEAKER_05I mean, microfiber goes a long way. What when you're cleaning.
SPEAKER_08That's not what she said.
SPEAKER_05Yay!
SPEAKER_08All right, all right. But like King Cush is like um his daughter like uh got like some kind of like disease at like super young, so he got into like C B D oil. So he went up to like Vermont and bought like 150 acres of land. And so he's just growing weed out there, but it's all like weed for like C B D oil. It's just all like C B D weed, it's not even like you know, real wheat and shit. It's hemp. Essentially.
SPEAKER_05I mean So why aren't we growing real weed?
SPEAKER_08Babe Babe is like, what's the point?
SPEAKER_05I don't understand.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I know. It's it doesn't make any sense because he's like fifty he's got like fifty acres of fucking weed, but it's just all got it's all like Charlotte's Webb. Yeah, dude. He doesn't plan on making like fucking rope with the like the stems and the roots.
SPEAKER_09No, but I mean, is he using it for medicinal purposes like for people who don't want any psychotropic effects, but they need it for like seizures, anti-seizure seizure medicine, etc.
SPEAKER_08And to help people with like cancer and everything, like going through chemotherapy and all that.
SPEAKER_09Well then they definitely want the THC if they're going through chemo and all that, because that's what makes you hungry and helps kill the pain. Trust me, I'm aware.
SPEAKER_05And also mushrooms.
SPEAKER_09And also mushrooms.
SPEAKER_05And LSD.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_09LSD. If you can't tell by babe's tie-dye shirt.
SPEAKER_05I'm psychedelic.
SPEAKER_09That's my that's my girl. That's my wife, ladies and gentlemen.
SPEAKER_05Shows them goddamn respect.
SPEAKER_09That's right. So um, what do we got? We got any uh current events, my love?
Kanye Meltdowns And Pop Culture Fallout
SPEAKER_05Yeah, what's what's um Kanye West is like going off the chain right now. I don't know. Kanye West anyone has seen his Instagram, but he is definitely dishing out some crazy shit right now.
SPEAKER_09Well, he's not mad at Pete Davidson anymore. No, he's mad at Buff Daddy for trying to uh intervene with the fact that he wore a White Lives Matter shirt, him and Candace Owens.
SPEAKER_05Yes, and up until a couple days ago, he had Chris Jenner as his profile picture.
SPEAKER_09Trolling. He is the ultimate troll. Yes, no, like honestly, Jesus does not walk with that man. Not anymore.
SPEAKER_05He said that God is on his side, but I'm not sure about that.
SPEAKER_08I don't think we're all talking to the same God, I'll be real with you.
SPEAKER_09That's right. Uh definitely not. Um, but I can tell you, yes, I do agree that he is mentally a little unstable, and this is coming from someone that has a mental health diagnosis, you know. But so brave. I'm so brave. So brave. So brave. Um I I just think it's kind of crazy now that all of woke America is turning on him for wearing a White Lives Matter because he's literally trying to troll them, and it's like they didn't as I've seen a lot of people posting like, it's time to hold this man accountable. Like, you didn't want to hold him accountable when he bullied, like, you know, Taylor Swift and shit, and like, and you know what I mean? Yeah, you don't want to hold hilarious, B. It was h it was hilarious, but you know what I mean? Like, you don't want to hold a narcissist's actions accountable until it directly like affects your agenda. You know what I mean? It's like, oh fine, we can make excuses for this kind of behavior as long as it doesn't go against my agenda. But the minute it does, now we've got to hold this man accountable. He's just so brave. He's so brave.
SPEAKER_05It's part of the agenda, is what I think. Yeah, he's Kanye. He's very smart in that way.
SPEAKER_08Dude, he's trying to troll everybody. Yeah, fucking dude. Keep dropping hits, fam. I'm gonna keep listening.
SPEAKER_09It's the same way like when when he said he's like George Bush does not like black people. Y'all remember that shit in 2005? Yes, of course. That was so funny. And it was 13 years old.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. But yo, George Bush on some real shit, though. When he got that she threw at him and he fucking dodged it quick as fuck. Like, oh, yeah, that's my president.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that was on some Ronald Reagan shit. When Ronald Reagan, uh after the assassination attempt, he'd already been shot, and then he was like one of his first public speakings since, and then a balloon popped real loud, almost sounded like a gunshot from the bad audio, and he just like is in the middle of his speech and just goes, You missed, and continues on with his speech. I was like, Look, Ronald Reagan was the devil, but god damn it, that was gangster.
SPEAKER_08Like, do you think like JFK and his wife Jackie like knew that day when they were going out and they're like, What could go wrong? Like, it was a beautiful day in Dallas, nothing could go wrong. The sun's shining bright, the clouds are singing songs. Look at the grass sway in the wind.
SPEAKER_05Oh, fuck you, that was better than that.
SPEAKER_09So is no, that wasn't for you, that was for their day. Meaning, like, yeah, they were thinking all of that, and then it got very sad trombone.
SPEAKER_08Well, I mean, really, no one ever plans to hold brains in reality. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, she probably had PTSD like a World War II vet. She was probably worse.
SPEAKER_05Well, and Kanye also, I don't know if you guys know, but he had a big beef with Drake, and Drake liked one of his photos on his Instagram that he posts and deletes constantly. And he is back with Drake, and Drake will be played at all of his events. So, yeah, so he had so he had to it only took one like from Drake.
SPEAKER_09One like from Drake, Drake's got that back. What do you think he'll do for me if I give him a like? What is he gonna send? Kanye. Do you love me? Are you writing?
SPEAKER_08Oh, yeah. Kanye's in the back door, and Ad Liv's like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_09Exactly. Yeah. No, I wonder, I wonder how quick after Pete and Kim broke up, did Drake slide right back in them Kiki DMs.
SPEAKER_08Dude, Pete Davidson fucked up. He got her name and their kids' names tattooed on his fucking neck. I was like, well, yeah, because I just wanna always remember them. It was a time of my life. I love my baby mama, but I'll be fucking damned if I ever get her name tattooed on me, okay? You know what I'm saying? Bro.
SPEAKER_05Well, in the midst of all of this, I had to actually look up the sex tape personally because I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_09Oh, you for research wait vagina. Are you telling me that Pete and Kim have a sex tape?
SPEAKER_05No, they don't, but I did have to see Kim Kardashian's vagina in the midst of all.
SPEAKER_09For research purposes, I did.
SPEAKER_05I did, I did that.
SPEAKER_09Is it a good looking vagina?
SPEAKER_05Um, it's not bad. I think that there is a reason that it's popular for sure.
SPEAKER_09There's a reason it's popular for sure.
SPEAKER_08There's been more impressive vaginas in the world, dude. But implants.
SPEAKER_05It depends on what you think is an impressive vagina. Like what's the case?
SPEAKER_08Well, I mean, it can't just be vagina. It just can't look good. I mean, dude, it's gotta feel good. When you're getting railed out by just fucking black dudes and basketball players that are like six foot nine the whole time, and also rappers. I mean, really. So you're saying it's wider than the four-pit tunnel. I'm gonna say it's gonna take more than three fingers to make her feel something.
SPEAKER_09Maybe. Or you could just have the good curve, the length and the curve. It's not always about girth, right?
SPEAKER_05I don't got big hands, it's not bad. I mean, I watched, you know, all the celebrity sex tapes. I've watched Paris Hilton, you know, all of them. I think Kevin Kardashian's probably my favorite.
SPEAKER_09Well, yeah, she's the hottest one. Uh I mean, who else had one? Nicole Ritchie? Whoof.
SPEAKER_05Wait, Nicole Ritchie, she had one. She did?
SPEAKER_09I don't know. I'm asking, who else had one?
SPEAKER_05I don't know. Paris Hilton definitely had one.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And Paris Hilton is not attractive to me personally.
SPEAKER_09She looks like she gives terrible blowjobs. She's not attractive to anybody. Her bank account is what was attractive. Like, look, if you've got 10 figures in a bank account, look, you could look however the fuck you look. You don't have to get plastic surgery. Now, the Kardashians built themselves into dimes.
SPEAKER_05Yes, they have very good genes, I will say that.
SPEAKER_09And plastic surgeons.
SPEAKER_05Well, and the children, I mean, everyone looks everyone's good looking people. Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_08They're not good looking people, dude. Nah. It doesn't cost that much to look good. Example A. Yes. Look at Chris. I look terrible. But goddammit, I just so much confidence. I look impeccable. That's right. Stunning.
SPEAKER_05Chris, you wouldn't have sex with um Kim Kardashian, let's be honest.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, we don't know. No, I wouldn't actually. Me and Courtney both would have sex with Kim together.
SPEAKER_05Definitely.
SPEAKER_08Speaking of which, isn't that why y'all are starting an OnlyFans so she can find y'all?
SPEAKER_05Oh. Well.
SPEAKER_08What?
SPEAKER_05I don't.
SPEAKER_09Okay, so back to news with idiots. Hey, babe. What do we got next?
SPEAKER_05Um, Megan Fox is hot.
Blink-182 Reunion And Family Stories
SPEAKER_09Megan Fox is hot, but anything else in the news?
SPEAKER_05Oh, Blank 182 is getting back together. What? Blank 182 is the biggest. My family. I will take you all. We're all going.
SPEAKER_08My very first skate art for the Brocam video 10 years ago in uh 2012. Fink asked me what song I wanted to use. I was like, it gotta be blink 22, dude. It's gotta be blink 22.
SPEAKER_05So good. Tom is back on board. Mark has been fighting cancer.
SPEAKER_08No, I went, damn it. I know, I know.
SPEAKER_05I'm just damn it is good. Cheshire Cat though.
SPEAKER_09Fire. Yeah. Yeah, I liked all their early stuff, and honestly, they're just a good fun band. Um so anybody that beats cancer, cancer fucking sucks. Um, I've lost too many people to it.
SPEAKER_08My grandma has crushed cancer like six times. That's what we love, Nana. She's a fucking beast. Dude, she like, yo, my grandma, goddamn it. Dude, my grandma was the toughest woman like in the fucking world. Like, uh shit, she'll never hear this, but I'll I'll tell the story anyways. Back when she was 15, like she ended up like having sex with this one dude, like older boy, and got her pregnant, and everybody in her like small town in Texas, like they kicked her out of the town.
SPEAKER_09Like extradited, dude, exiled, excommunicated, everything.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, dude. Everything. And then like my grandma's just like fucking put two five like two to five fingers to the fuck you, and just like went and stolen, crushed life. Like, I don't need you, motherfuckers. Can't keep her down. Oh, dude, she's a real G.
SPEAKER_05I love that. Independent woman.
SPEAKER_09That's right. That's right. Well, uh, I guess we'll go ahead and uh take a quick break, unless we've got any more news.
SPEAKER_05I mean, I don't have any news. I can always tell like crazy stories from my clients, you know.
SPEAKER_09Oh, that sounds like news. Are we about to get into a new
Confidential Clients From The Salon Chair
SPEAKER_09segment?
SPEAKER_05Yes, we are.
SPEAKER_09What are we gonna call it? Um clients' confidentials.
SPEAKER_05I have a client who was an embalmer and also one that's in forensics. I've heard some crazy stories.
SPEAKER_08Or confidential clients. Confidential clients.
SPEAKER_05Yes. B is not cool, obviously.
SPEAKER_08Wait, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
SPEAKER_09Hold on, we we got we gotta run this back real quick. We're about to start our new uh segment, ladies and gentlemen. It's uh clients confidential.
SPEAKER_08Can I be one download with you? I do not think I heard you correctly.
SPEAKER_01So uh the story you're about to see is true. The names have been changed to protect the innocent.
SPEAKER_09Clients confidential. So Courtney. Okay, Beb, tales from the salon. Let's see.
SPEAKER_05So, where should I start in the past week? Should I start with the double-sided dildo or should I start with the Chris?
SPEAKER_09I think I started go, Beb. Oh my god. Pray tell, my love. Ladies and gentlemen, if you think the guys are only the only ones that are like perverted um or just kind of crazy, like y'all motherfuckers don't even know. Y'all don't know the half of it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I hear it behind the chair all day long.
SPEAKER_09And then I she comes home and I hear it. So, baby, take it away.
SPEAKER_05So, who wants to call the double-sided dildo?
SPEAKER_08I'm so jealous of y'all's lies. Y'all are so brave. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05I don't know what to say. No, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_08No, let's hear the story. Tell Chris. Yeah, talk to talk to me about a devilness.
SPEAKER_05Oh, well, the double-sided dildo is just one of those things where my client was like, Hey, me and my guy got a double-sided dildo, and I'm thinking in my head, where does the other side go? That's what I said too when Paul told me about it.
SPEAKER_09That's what I said immediately.
SPEAKER_05Right?
SPEAKER_09Where does it go, babe?
SPEAKER_05Where does it go? We don't know.
SPEAKER_09Oh, we know.
SPEAKER_05I bet he is too. Yep. You know what he's doing.
SPEAKER_09I think he had that prop that midlife uh prostate exam and uh realized that, oh god, the G spot really is in the men's bum. And he was like, hey, babe, want to go to insurrection?
SPEAKER_08She's like, as long as I don't have to keep giving you rim jobs, and hell yeah. Hell yeah. Who wants to look an asshole? Not me. Hell yeah, suck toes. Can you repeat the question?
SPEAKER_09So uh yeah, what's uh after the double, the double, the double dizzy?
SPEAKER_08You got you're on you're on floor.
SPEAKER_05I have a um client who does forensics actually, and she was telling me um she was working on bestiality cases, actually.
SPEAKER_04He's heating up!
SPEAKER_08Jesus Christ. That's so rough. Could you imagine having to wake up every day and just knowing that it's just animal sex acts with humans that you have to like investigate?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, no, I'm good on that, bro. Because I would be like, my bipolar ass would be definitely triggered. Like, if you want to get Paulie like to a point where he's gonna commit a crime that he won't remember in a fit of rage, abuse an animal because then he will definitely kill you.
SPEAKER_05So shout out to the people that take the time to investigate these things for sure. Yeah, I couldn't.
SPEAKER_08These are the real heroes, honestly. I mean for sure.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, she told me that she um honestly can't even watch like crime shows and things because she's so triggered by them and she works on them, you know, on a daily basis as a career. So the last thing she told me was a turtle.
SPEAKER_09What a turtle or a tortoise? Not that this really fucking matters. No, it does kind of matter. I mean, are we talking land or aquatic?
SPEAKER_05Turtle is all I all I got.
SPEAKER_08Was it an alligator snapping turtle? Because they're big enough.
SPEAKER_05She didn't go into detail, but she had. She should have gone into detail. That's enough detail, Chris. That's not somebody fucking a turtle is enough detail for me.
SPEAKER_09It's definitely enough detail for me.
SPEAKER_05But I need to do it. I'm trying to do hair here, you know?
SPEAKER_08I know, but if if they wrist if they wrists at all for an alligator snapping turtle, it's not like he can turn back or anything, but I mean, like, still it's like, yo, that's a risky fucking move because they got some strong jaws, fam.
SPEAKER_05I didn't even know that was possible. But I also have not looked into it personally.
SPEAKER_09All right. Well, uh what else we got from client confidential for this. Dude, I'm a fan. Holy shit. You know, new best segment we got. Yeah, holy fuck.
SPEAKER_05There's been many times where my client was cheating on their husband with some other guy and they told me about it, but I also do the husband's hair, so I couldn't say anything.
SPEAKER_08Oh right? Damn, that's rough. You think if they heard this podcast, they'd know it's them?
SPEAKER_05I hope they don't hear it.
SPEAKER_08Probably not.
SPEAKER_09They're not scumbags. Yeah. It's a high-end salon.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_09I mean, let's be real. Our listenership is our type of people.
SPEAKER_08I know, dude. $137 for a haircut. Kiss my ass, Courtney, for $137, all right.
SPEAKER_09She doesn't do rim jobs anymore, Chris.
SPEAKER_08I said the ass, just a cheek, okay?
SPEAKER_05I will tell you though, it's really funny when clients are on their phone and you're behind the chair because I've seen so many fucking titties and vaginas. My clients being naked. Like chicks, like cheeks, yeah. They're like sending, they're sending like their dudes like pictures. Yeah, yeah. I can't see it. I'm like, I'm right here, dude.
SPEAKER_08They're getting their hair popping, and then they're about to get their shit really popping.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, they're getting their hair popping before they get that pussy popping. Yeah, pussy, pussy popping.
SPEAKER_05But I mean, I talk about Paul, you know, behind the chair all the time.
SPEAKER_09All the time. It's really bad. No, what do you talk about Paul about?
SPEAKER_05Oh, that he is a piece of shit. No, I'm just kidding.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, tiny, tiny dick. No skills.
SPEAKER_05Oh, tiny dick. That is not true. I've never said that.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, you know, they say Chris is the barely out of Chris. But uh, I'm pretty sure Paul doesn't know how the hips work either. I gotcha. No, that one kind of sucked because y'all didn't get to hear the beginning. Um, anyways, no. We get it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. So I also have a client that was an embalmer, so she worked on like dead people, and there was also a client that opened up crime scenes, and she found dildos with shit on them.
SPEAKER_09Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_05At the crime scene. I mean, I mean honestly that's I hear everything.
SPEAKER_09I don't really get grossed out by that. I'd like, it doesn't really bother me. I I almost I applied for a couple of companies to start working as a crime scene cleanup before I got back into construction.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I mean I I started my own business. Forensics before I did here, actually.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_05But I didn't go to ITT tech, thank God, because apparently that was a scam.
SPEAKER_09Thank God, it was definitely a scam. I can tell you from first hand experience. Fuck you, ITT tech. Honestly, bro, let's it was it uh the Indiana was it um technical training tech. That's what it was. It was so redundant. ITT Tech standard for uh stood for Indiana Technical Training Tech. So why don't you just call it ITT?
SPEAKER_05Was it the campus off Younger Men's Circle?
SPEAKER_09I think ITT was a different company. There was over there.
SPEAKER_05Maybe I saw you.
SPEAKER_08I think ITT was a different company though.
SPEAKER_05I'm just looking at this picture of Mark Brunel right now.
SPEAKER_08Look at him in all his glory.
SPEAKER_05He's staring at me.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, nigga. Back in the day, Mark Brunel led the uh the them boys. So you know what was that uh the Jaguars just shared it. Remember back in the day when uh like Mark Brunel time, that chick they interviewed, and she was like pretty gnarly, pretty much. And she's like, they don't want the new guy coming in and stealing the show. Well, the first years we almost took it to the top. Oh god, I gotta find it real quick so we can get this audio.
SPEAKER_08Dude, have you ever heard the McDonald's song?
SPEAKER_05Oh wasn't that there like a McDonald's meal or something?
SPEAKER_08No, no, they made adult happy meals.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, for Mark Bernard.
SPEAKER_08Dude, have you ever heard the Jaguar uh uh have you ever heard the uh the Jaguars rap, dude? Oh yeah, back in the day. Dude, they fucked up that goddamn season because of that shit. Hey, it was fucked up, dude. We were undefeated besides the fucking Tennessee. I fucking hate it.
SPEAKER_05We were doing real good until last week.
SPEAKER_08Oh, no, I mean, that's straight. We're gonna be all right. We're gonna fuck up Houston.
SPEAKER_05I love that I just opened my phone and it was on Kanye West's Instagram because I was trying to get on what he was ranting about.
SPEAKER_09I'm like trying to find this steal the show, but god damn it, they post so much. I'm like Chris, entertain the people while I find this.
SPEAKER_05Comedy.
SPEAKER_08Oh shit, jokes and jokes and jokes and jokes.
SPEAKER_05Do we have jokes?
SPEAKER_08Uh I mean I have like a few new ones that like, you know, I've been working on for uh a special, and Paul Paul wants me to do a special with all like new shit. Oh, it's like a it's like a comedy special like I'll like do you know 30 events of stage time and you know, just drop it on YouTube for like the the podcast channel.
SPEAKER_05And do we have a YouTube channel? Is that a thing?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, yeah. We yeah, we got one for Folly on the pod. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05I didn't know that, so I guess I will watch it.
SPEAKER_08That's why we're not getting enough views, Courtney.
SPEAKER_09No, I gotta actually put up content up there. God damn it, I'm trying to find this joke.
SPEAKER_08Well, actually, all right. Well, then if we we're gonna talk about content and they just resides like the same thing with jokes.
Sex Store Encounters And BDSM Confusion
SPEAKER_08Yes. So I texted it. I texted you yesterday and you didn't respond to me, so I texted Courtney and told her also.
SPEAKER_05And I responded.
SPEAKER_08She did respond.
SPEAKER_05I did.
SPEAKER_08She did respond.
SPEAKER_09So she's better than I am.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I know that, dude. I don't even know why she's with you. So anyways, uh, so my idea is all right, so Paul and I we're gonna get Ubers, and of course we're gonna hold hands while we walk up to the Uber, and we're gonna have them take us to sex stores. Yes. And then while they're driving, we're gonna make it extremely awkward by saying really, really weird shit and possible moaning and whatnot.
SPEAKER_09But you realize it's not gonna be as funny to our viewers now that you're explaining it all.
SPEAKER_05But did you tell Chris about the note I got on my car when I went to the sex store? Remember that?
SPEAKER_09I don't I didn't tell him about it, but you can.
SPEAKER_05Oh, well, I went to the sex store recently to get would you find any goods? Yes, I always look for the goods. You got any heavy crack? Uh, you know, there's just like certain things that I like to get there. But um when I came out, there was a note on my car and it said, I'm into BDSM and I'm in the car next to you if you are into it.
SPEAKER_08What the fuck?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, handwritten note. I think it's still in the Subaru actually.
SPEAKER_08That's classic, though. I mean, that's pretty respectful if they wrote it in hand. It'd be really weird if they fucking had it already printed out, though. You'd be like, where the fuck like a flyer. Yeah. Just like, you know, he's just everywhere he goes, he just drops it in, lets them know. Oh yeah. Yeah. He was just I was like, that was he was hey, can all right. So uh he was looking for uh someone to take care of him. Yeah, he's looking for someone to step on his nuts. I'll be real honest with y'all, man. Like, I think I have an idea, and uh don't judge me when I say this. What is BDSM exactly? No idea what it stands for.
SPEAKER_09Bondage, domination, sexual manipulation. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05Something like that. He wanted to be dominated by me, basically.
SPEAKER_08He wanted you to like step on his nuts and like fucking slap. Spit on him, slap him, yeah.
SPEAKER_05I think when we take our next break, we can actually find the note and read it out.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that would be great.
SPEAKER_08We're actually gonna take a break, but real quick, we're gonna this lady do you think you give like a fat grumpy on a dude if like you enough?
SPEAKER_05I mean, I wasn't really thinking about it.
SPEAKER_08Drop a fat shit on a dude. Well, I mean, if it's BDDSM, you can't.
SPEAKER_05You know, I have a husband and stuff.
SPEAKER_08No. Yes. Well, I mean, obviously that's who I was talking about. If I paid you enough, could I take a shit on your chest? No. If I pay you enough money, if I paid you enough money, will you just fucking dump a fat grumpy on him for me?
SPEAKER_05You know.
SPEAKER_08Oh, on me? Yeah. I got thought I got to dump it on her and she okay. No, no, no, no. You're getting dumped on.
SPEAKER_09All right, well, this one took the fucking crazy chance. Got to that point in our she's over here talking with her clients about double-sided dildos, you know, just ready to, and I'm like, hold up, hold up, take that out of the chamber. Hey, wait up, hold up.
SPEAKER_05Well, hey, so we should definitely grab the note, though.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, let's grab the note. Let's take a quick break. We'll check uh on a couple of things. But before we do, check out this uh Roberta, I think Roberta, I don't know, she's whatever her name is. Roberta something. She's the chick the you don't want them stealing the big show that I was talking about.
SPEAKER_08Roberta? Oh, I got one more little thing that I want to add in. I don't know that's cool.
SPEAKER_07Certainly not. The first year we took it to the limit.
SPEAKER_09Took it to the limit.
SPEAKER_07And I was in Miami with my new beach house. Well, it was a couple minutes from the beach. It's been 20 years since then. We haven't been too strong in the last few years.
SPEAKER_06Oh, we've been strong. We're just playing by the rules. By the rules. You can't have a newcomer come in and steal the show.
SPEAKER_09On that note, we are out.
SPEAKER_02On the handstand, on my American bandstand, summer stars, cartwheels, bitch, just keep on dancing. Chinese split, split, I don't know how many boy this dick, dick, get it out of control. Keep going till a nigga like me say stuff. Let a kiss the guy and then make it. Duckin' twist, it's don't like if you fucking critics. I'm rubbin' clicks, so stay in catch, don't try to duck and miss.
unknownDo your stretches, don't put no hamstring. You got me moving in black, you do in the damn thing. Strunkin' muscles, exercise.
SPEAKER_02Everybody know by that hurts. She's been sweating, baker. Yo bappin' by that work. I like a woman that makes her own double. Don't need a lot of help. But your heart'll melt. If I put a thousand in your gun to belt, nick blows traces. You're pierced in eleven places. And your lips downtown just made some familiar faces like wool.
Skate Trip Dreams And RV Talk
SPEAKER_09Alright, we're back. It's your boy Paulie. I got the doctor. And I got Mrs. Walnuts with me.
SPEAKER_08Uh a master of the craft, and her favorite craft is war.
SPEAKER_09Yeah! Exactly. We are the three from hell. No, I'm just kidding. No, I was going more on like a World of Warcraft type thing, but um, no, we're uh we're we're back with you. We were just talking about some uh pretty rad places. I brought up uh the cooler B. Um it's like an Airbnb, and they have their own like radio station, and the whole backyard is is all uh all a whole concrete bowl, and um yeah, it just looks like a super rad place to go. Pull hey, pull that up on the Instagram, babe.
SPEAKER_05I'm like, V right now.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, actually you two have been talking about wanting to get an RV and everything.
SPEAKER_09Uh yeah, a little uh toe behind, not a fifth wheel, but you know, like a little toe behind trailer that you don't need a goose neck for. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. So we have a Subaru, so we can totally put a toe hitch on that. And I forgot that there's a microphone here. I was just talking. Um toe hitch on the Subaru for the mini camper.
SPEAKER_09Yep, and we got one on the uh the old Tahoe. We just gotta get the AC fixed and figure out what this electrical thing is going on.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so Subaru obviously is in our favor right now.
SPEAKER_08Depending on the size. That's what she said.
SPEAKER_05So yeah, I'm looking at cooler B and D right now.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, pretty rad, isn't it?
SPEAKER_05Yes.
SPEAKER_09So from like a non-skater, but like uh, you know, someone that's been around the skateboarding uh world and lifestyle for most of your life, or you know, like what do you what do you think about it? What are what are your impressions of it? Looks pretty rad to me. I'm like, put that on the bucket list. We gotta go there.
SPEAKER_08Oh, yeah. I mean we can't go until I can skate again, though.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I'm not sure about this. I only dated skateboarders because all they did was skateboard, so I never had to worry about them cheating. But as far as the That's pretty valid. No, really, I mean, all they did is skateboard, so go and blame it, both it. You got nothing else to do, man. But I'm happy for you when I see this. And for Lucy.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, and what do you what do you think? Uh I mean, you think it's pretty cool from just someone that doesn't mind like that is in the skate culture, even though you don't participate.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it means I get some free time.
SPEAKER_08Yes. Work on my arts and crafts.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it means I get to do stuff while you do that.
SPEAKER_08That's right.
SPEAKER_05Um, alone time, honey. She sure does, man.
SPEAKER_09Also, uh look up on the Instagram there, Scape Laborious or Saint, I think.
SPEAKER_08Let me let me uh we as uh here at Polly in the Pod, we've talked about going on a trip and everything and taking uh the podcast on the road and you know, getting interviews with different people in different cities and all that, and like it's you know, before we're obviously able to do it, you know, we want to have it mapped out to like the places we want to go and adventure to.
SPEAKER_05What's your top destination, Chris?
SPEAKER_08My top destination um could be Arlington, a monument skate park. Uh kidding.
SPEAKER_05Um I feel like LA would be really cool.
SPEAKER_08No, I like honestly like with stand-up comedy and shit, like it used to be like either LA or like New York, and now it's like either Austin, Texas, or New York. And like honestly, like I would rather go to New York for skateboarding and then like also have like that like actual like factor of like I can get I can go do stand-up comedy like in different spots like multiple times at a night and just like work on the craft.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, no, um I've never been to New York City, but New York seems pretty rad.
SPEAKER_05Definitely on the bucket when you speak of New York, do you speak of the city?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, um yeah. When he speaks of New York, mainly he's talking like New York City, he's not talking like upstate.
SPEAKER_08No, I'm just talking about where they make apples and stuff, you know.
SPEAKER_05I've been to New York City many times.
SPEAKER_09Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that'll make you better than me. So I'm looking at skate laborious
New York City Takes And Street Culture
SPEAKER_05right now.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, so that's an old church. Well, Courtney, what did you like about uh New York City?
SPEAKER_05Um, I didn't like much about it. I um thought it was very busy and I felt like an ant there. Um I prefer nature, like my husband. We prefer the green, but um wow very good food. Um fashion is really cool. Um there's a lot to see there. I went to the sex museum when I was there. Um I'm trying to think. I've been a couple times. I I stayed in the meatpacking district one time.
SPEAKER_08I don't know what that means.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they pack meat there. It's bougie.
SPEAKER_09Or they used to pack meat there. Yeah, then it was gentrified.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, then it was just human bodies when the mafioso came around.
SPEAKER_09That's right. Fucking Italian people.
SPEAKER_08Oh, god damn it, I just thought of something. Um, did you ever go on like Canal Street or anything and get you some fake some fake bougie shit?
SPEAKER_05Canal Street. I'm trying to think. I did go to the Supreme store when I was there.
SPEAKER_09Oh, right on. Represent, represent.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, actually, uh But LA was actually really cool for skateboarding. Um, I remember seeing a lot of skateboarding when I was there.
SPEAKER_09Um Chris, have you watched the uh documentary The Streets Were Silent? No, I haven't seen that yet. It's about the basically start of Zoo York and Supreme, as well as these were guys, like the main guy Eli, like was very plugged in with DJ Stretch Armstrong and Bobito, and they had the college radio show that like showcased all of the early legends. Like Buster Rhymes' first like freestyle like public appearance was on the Stretch and Bobito show. It aired really, really late at night. It was like the 2 to 4 a.m. slot. Um, and so you would like you know, people up there in the local area would stay up real late and like record it on their cassettes, and like Jay Z spent freestyles, Nas, Jay to Kiss, like all of these greats of that that then ended up becoming greats in the hip-hop world. Um, how it was all intertwined and like Club Mars and like the whole 90s, and then Justin Pierce and Harold Hunter and the movie Kids, Larry Clark, and Harmony Crane. It was like really, really, really well done documentary that just kind of shows it's like from 1988, 1987 to uh 199. I feel like six or seven, it was like a decade.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and that was all NYC based off.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah, yeah. NYC R.
SPEAKER_05I was a West Coast uh hip hop girl.
SPEAKER_09Oh no, East Coast all day. I mean, I listen to all of that. East Coast Yeah, East Coast, baby. Yeah, um from the beast.
SPEAKER_08Yep, it was uh I'm sorry, no uh Z York uh back in the day on um they used to have a channel called Fuel TV, and uh Z York had a show called Skate Maps, and they would like go tour through Europe and everything, and like it was like a young Harold Harold Hunter, or not a young Harold Hunter, he was like older, but it was like a kill.
SPEAKER_09No, he was older because he dropped died so young, but like yeah, but it's that dude was young.
SPEAKER_05Wait, what was that documentary we watched where they were like skating the old malls and stuff? Do you remember? It was like on Vice or something, it was super cool.
SPEAKER_08Oh, Abandoned, yeah.
SPEAKER_05That's what Rick McCrank abandoned with Rick McCrank. So good.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, if it's rap. Uh Rick McCrank's from Canada, I believe, like Vancouver, like West Canada. Yeah. And uh super, I mean, I I loved he uh skated for girl and uh uh still does actually, I'm pretty sure. Yeah, um idolized him growing up, and so seeing that he had that show immediately. I was like, oh, hosted by McCrank. It was really, really cool because kind of like an introvert, because he's really kind of quiet and soft spoken. He really is. So it was like this, like had this almost introverted view of of things, and then it was all these abandoned places. Like I really like that.
SPEAKER_08Well, you know, it was like super rad there like in that show escape maps, like you gotta see like a young Zared Bassett just fucking shit up.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_08And then um, like, you know, uh Forrest Kirby like just doing some fucked up manual tricks, and like they're like they're just destroying shit all through Europe and everything, like and it's like when they were young. But um, like like watching that show abandoned, like I've seen pretty much like every episode of it. And uh there's one of them where it's in like Louisiana, and they go to like a uh there's like a water park that they go and skate, uh, Rick goes and skates with like a couple dudes, and it's like One dude's there just because like water snakes and like different other kinds of snakes and everything. He's like he's there just with a pistol just to kill shit if it comes like up on him and everything.
SPEAKER_05Here, let me uh what was the magazine back in the day?
SPEAKER_08Hold on, check this out.
SPEAKER_05I'm trying to remember.
SPEAKER_08Let me see, let me bring up the odd thrasher magazine with all the skate um photos. Uh FTK, Thrasher Trans World. Here, this is the uh the streets are silent.
SPEAKER_09The trailer. Get that out of there.
SPEAKER_04None of us ever set out to make anything. We were just a group of friends.
SPEAKER_00We were just dingy kids with skateboarding.
SPEAKER_04But that little connection of people being together is what exploded and affected the rest of the world.
SPEAKER_09Literally, East Coast skateboarding and hip hop changed the world. In skateboarding, you had California, and in the East Coast, it was New York.
SPEAKER_10We inhabited the spaces that mainstreamers didn't. They can't do that today. West Coast, North Tank.
SPEAKER_03It all started from that nightclub Mars. They were playing all of Freddy's hip-hop.
SPEAKER_09Being a couple of things, bad Freddyhood and picking up skateboarding. He just had the T-bajet for some other shit.
SPEAKER_01Hey man, we could mute the wrapping over the skateboard. Method many this VHS tape resonated so strongly with stretch arm. See skate culture and hip-hop culture, like really fine the synergy just made sense. It's the same expression, but two different presentations.
SPEAKER_02If you're dope, you're dope. It don't matter if you're black or white or red and dotted.
SPEAKER_09It was like a puzzle that all came mechanical makes me. I love that shit.
SPEAKER_10As long as you fit in that puzzle, you were good.
SPEAKER_04That's her hunter's brother.
SPEAKER_06They had the rap kids and the skate kids. People wanted to be part of that world.
SPEAKER_00We could never have fathomed that.
SPEAKER_07Look how all of these people have flourished. It's damn near the birth of so many other things.
SPEAKER_00Jefferson Bang. Yeah. All of that talent that came out of that came from a few years.
SPEAKER_09It's like all these cats were all like if if if they all didn't, if skateboarding and like these hip hop artists, if it didn't all collide at the same time, like it would not be what they would not be what they are today.
SPEAKER_08Man, and like honestly, dude, like I have like I have so much like uh honor being from like the east coast
East Coast Pride And Style Differences
SPEAKER_08rather than the west coast. Like, you know, we have the oldest skate park in the world here, luckily in our city. We invented the shit.
SPEAKER_09It's a little bit harder on the on the east coast. It's a little more blue-collar.
SPEAKER_08It's a little more uh Yeah, nothing's given to you, like scraped knuckles kind of vibe. Yeah, and like, you know, if you look back through like past like uh Skater of the Years and shit, and then like you like see like, oh, these are fucking like the majority of them are all like East Coast cats and shit. Oh yeah, and they've all just moved out west. Yeah, because I mean I guess you know that's where the business is and the industry is. But like let me ask you this, babe.
SPEAKER_05Um I'm just thinking about little Wayne too. We see F natur Bacon. People like didn't realize that little Wayne was like so into skateboarding as well.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, well, he got into it later, but he even speaks on like because where he was from, he wasn't exposed to it.
SPEAKER_05So yeah, I think he's like what Louisiana, yeah, from New Orleans.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah, and uh and he got on when he was like 14 years old. He was like touring rapping and shit like that. So best rapper alive.
SPEAKER_05That's what he says.
SPEAKER_09That's what he says, yeah. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05I mean, we're not gonna argue with it, you know.
SPEAKER_09Let me ask you this, babe, like, because in you know, in your industry and like the hair and makeup, is there kind of like East Coast, West Coast vibes like to hair different styles or makeup, like different styles to where you can look and be like, oh, that's a New York influence, or that's a East Coast influence. That's a that's a West Coast influence.
SPEAKER_08Or is it all just basically like a fashion of like you know, the time whatever is current, everybody's biting off and everybody.
SPEAKER_05I mean, I definitely like I stay up on current hair, you know what I mean? Because that's like my vibe, like I like to be on with that, you know what I mean? But um, from New York City, like I feel like there's always like fashion forward, and then I feel like in Cali it's a little more relaxed. And I've done training in all of those states, you know, across the United States. So I do feel like um, you know, if you're looking for something different than NYC for sure. Um, if we're looking for a more laid-back vibe, then we're you know, in LA Santa Monica.
SPEAKER_08I don't think LA's laid back though.
SPEAKER_05I feel like it's more casual though than NYC. I feel like NYC is a little more fashion for sure.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, probably. Yeah. Because all the slugs move out there and then they all want to be like that, you know, California laid back.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. So when I go train for with Goldwell Academy, um, they are a level above Alexander McQueen.
SPEAKER_09Okay.
SPEAKER_05So you pass Alexander McQueen to get to, you know.
SPEAKER_09I know Steve McQueen. That's what I was about to say. I know the last name McQueen.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, but that's kind of a bougie. I mean, it's a designer.
SPEAKER_09Who's Alexander McQueen?
SPEAKER_05A designer, a fashion designer.
SPEAKER_09That's news to me and uh Chris. We know Dickies, and we know Carhartt and uh Volcum.
SPEAKER_05Well, your girl where where is all that? Actually, Paul and I were talking about I asked him, I was like, do you remember dolls? Do you remember dolls skateboarding? D-A-W-L-S. It was like the chick skateboarding brand back in the day. Hookups? Yeah.
SPEAKER_08No, she said D-A-W-L-S.
SPEAKER_05Dolls.
SPEAKER_08Oh no, I don't think I remember that. I don't remember that at all. It was I know, like hookups was like the uh like the ones with the girls and stuff on the boards. Like they were pretty like graphic and everything.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I mean, all we had was Pac Sun back in the day. You know, we didn't have anything else really.
SPEAKER_09Well, we had outer limits.
SPEAKER_05Um Journeys, I guess.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, but those were all mall stores. I got I got a pair of fucking bam audios from Journeys back in the day. No bullshit. One of the best skate shoes I ever had.
SPEAKER_09I actually had a pair of high top black and yellow zoo yorks that I got from Journeys, and I bought them because they were black and yellow.
SPEAKER_11Right.
SPEAKER_09Um, and they looked they were fucking sick. Right. Um worn for a long time on game day. Actually, uh, they they they won me two Super Bowls in their time on game day shoes.
SPEAKER_11You also have them?
SPEAKER_09No, I don't because I ended up skating them, and they were such good skate shoes. I remember when I finally skated them, I was like, holy shit, like I couldn't believe I waited so long to skate them. They like were so good.
SPEAKER_08Alright, so let me ask you a question.
Favorite Skate Shoes And Half Cab Love
SPEAKER_08And they were high tops, and they had a strap. Top three favorite pair of shoes you've ever owned. They were very thuggy. What? Top pair of three favorite skate shoes you've ever owned.
SPEAKER_09I would probably say in no particular order. Uh Chuck Taylor's gonna definitely be in there. I like to feel my board.
SPEAKER_05Um, they're thin. Like work out. I love how they're gonna work out.
SPEAKER_09But they're you know, the padding has evolved. Back in the day they were only canvas, now um, and so if you would have asked me a long time ago, it would have been like no, they're awful because they're only canvas. So since they've actually gotten a skate team and are consciously making skate shoes, if you've skated like the reissue like high top Chuck Taylors with the padding and the arch support, and actually that they they are made for skating, uh I love that shoe. Um my feet don't, but I also like to feel my board, and that's why I've got bad ankles and and really bad feet, and that's why it but it plagues me.
SPEAKER_08I can smell them from over here, dude.
SPEAKER_05So, what do you guys prefer as skateboarders though? Do you prefer a flat shoe?
SPEAKER_09Like, well, yeah, it's gotta be a flat soled shoe, but I need a little bit of an arch support, but I just don't need a thickened sole. Like my next one would be most likely would probably be the uh half gabs. Yeah, yeah. Those would be in those would be in my top three as well. Um and then and like I said, in no in no particular order. Um it would be I like the America Reynolds.
SPEAKER_08Which ones? The I don't remember what model they are, but I can tell you like twos. Or the ones or twos, or were they the ones that came with a diamond? Those are the threes. I think they're the twos.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, those are good. Really plain, simple. You know what I'm talking about? Um I had them in gray and black multiple times. Dude, I had uh for me. I do like, but if I had to expand, the dunks would be up in there uh next to the the the high top dunk because of my bad ankle. I do wear a lot of high tops and I uh a lot of mid mid-tops. So I like the the high top SP dunks. Um and I also like the um uh the van's classic skate highs. What are those? FP or no, these are the uh Rally classics. Oh, the new Rallies, yeah. Those are those are one of my favorite skate shoes ever.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I used to have I used to uh I got a actually I got a pair back in the day from Outer Limits. They were the all white leather ones.
SPEAKER_09But now everybody's on that that insole game because it's such a big market and people are taking care of their feet for the five.
SPEAKER_08Well, these shows back in the day, dude. Like I remember skating like a uh monument before the skate park was there, and I was skating off like the little white ledge and shit, and it just like there was no padding whatsoever. You felt everything. But um my my top three like shoes are like thinking back is uh the van chuckas. I love like I love the chuckas. Um the globe finale, I think that would probably be like my number one shoe.
SPEAKER_09And then I didn't skate a lot of like globes because or DCs because they like always had really thick insoles, man.
SPEAKER_05I forgot that DC existed, actually. And I thank you for bringing that up. I had a hoodie for sure.
SPEAKER_08Ken Block. I've never I've never owned a pair of DCs. Oh, actually, that's a lie. Mike Peterson back in the day gave me a pair of DCs.
SPEAKER_09I've owned one pair that I bought that I saw at Outer Limits, and I picked up, and I I can't remember what the model was. Oh, but they were like mid-tops and they skated so good. And I thought DC was gonna go in that direction of not so big, puffy, like overly padded. And I was wrong. They can they they was like an anomaly. They made that one shoe that one time and then went right back.
SPEAKER_08Uh, Courtney, do you remember the pair of Etneys that used to have like the M on them?
SPEAKER_05Etneys, yes.
SPEAKER_08They had like the M on the side and it's like a sideways E, dude. Yeah. Well, you it looks like an M. Your mom looks like an M.
SPEAKER_05I had white ones that had a black E on them, the classics. Yeah. I do remember that.
SPEAKER_09Did you buy them from Pac Sun, babe?
SPEAKER_05I sure did. Yeah, nigga. That was the store.
SPEAKER_09Paul, did you ever own a pair of those? No. Did not. I was not an Etnes fan.
SPEAKER_05Well, you don't know about dolls either, so I don't.
SPEAKER_09I don't either.
SPEAKER_08Real quick. My daughter told me dolls. All your glasses are always crooked, Chris. Uh no, actually, it's just because my ears are like one's lower than the other.
SPEAKER_05So tell me the half cab um magical what like what makes it so magical?
SPEAKER_08Alright, so Steve Caballero's half-cab shoe. It has been out for over 30 years now. Yep. I think he's never had he's never made a second shoe. It's the longest-selling skate shoe of all time. And like, because like the half cab is like, you know, you get ankle protection and everything with it. Right.
SPEAKER_05It's not super high top, but it's like halfway there.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it's like a mid-top.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it covers your ankle, so like if your board shoots back on you and tries to hit your ankle, like you're gonna be able to do it.
SPEAKER_09It minimizes uh snake bites and but without having it go all the way up your ankle where you feel like you're wearing an ankle brace. That's where a lot of high tops, like yeah, a lot of people don't like them because you almost feel like it constricts the mobility of your ankle. Yep. Um But when you're old and you've got bad ankles, like you boy. You fucking tighten the laces up, tighten the fucking laces up, bro. Strap the boots and uh put the helmet on.
SPEAKER_08Like with the half cap, it was like one of those rarities to where like the shoe, like you could like you could feel like your skateboard so good, but also like they had enough like padding on like the sole to where like it didn't feel like you could still feel everything on your skateboard, so it like it was just like I don't know, it's just perfect. It really is one of the most perfect shoes. I love that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I mean, Paul and I we're you know, we have the kids and stuff, so we're the van's um outlet. We're the van's store. No, yeah. The buy one, get one. You already know.
SPEAKER_08Oh, yeah, I do that all the time. Usually about every every start of a new school year or like after Christmas or something. Like, yep.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's uh uh dude.
SPEAKER_08I've never owned a pair of Converse's.
SPEAKER_09Really? That's like I lived in those shoes for so long, but I also grew up playing basketball too. So you smell like you lived in those shoes for the colour. It's my dirty Guido Northeastern fucking vibe. Hey, it's a pride thing.
SPEAKER_05That's the gym shoe, though. You know, that's how we you know, I squat with those. Like the that's how I work she squats with those.
SPEAKER_09Get the fuck out of here.
SPEAKER_05I'm just saying, you're flat-footed, man.
SPEAKER_09See the cutie with a booty. I've been working on it. Well, shit, let's uh let's take another break here and uh Osiris.
Puffy Shoe Nostalgia And Old Skate Shops
SPEAKER_09Why did that just pop up as oh dude, Osiris is back to the show? Talking about puffy shoes, bro. Like, I feel like people that bought Osiris' are also the people that shopped at Hot Topic regularly.
SPEAKER_08What what was the what was that shoe? What was that one shoe that it was the D3s? Osiris D3s. Oh, I'm sure. Look them up, look them up.
SPEAKER_05At this, you would see it because I'm looking at no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_08You got look up Osiris. Yeah, dude, there's actually a kid in my high school that had those ones. Yeah, he he had those ones.
SPEAKER_05Those oh my god.
SPEAKER_09Yes, yes. No, so there was a guy that I know that uh went to high school with Big Bird, and uh shout outs big bird, and uh he had the look like big bird shoes. He had the he had the bleach blonde hair, but like with the dark roots, he had the nose ring, like when we were in high school and shit.
SPEAKER_05Like, definitely he liked ICP, right?
SPEAKER_09Big time, white trash, and then you know hey, it he was like one of my first friends that had gotten shot that I knew of that I was like actually friends with that actually survived. And it was like that situation where like fucking, oh, did you hear fucking someone? It's like I wear Osiris the fucking because he was the one that was like living in a trailer by himself at like 17 or 18 years old, and uh, and then I remember a few years later hearing I I he had he was growing some plants, and uh those kids weren't skating. I I lost touch with him, and then I remember hearing fucking like oh yeah, big bird got shot, but he's good.
SPEAKER_05This is what the doll's shoes look like, actually.
SPEAKER_09I'm pretty sure he had a hatchet man uh sticker on his truck.
SPEAKER_05It's so funny that I typed in dolls and nothing came up actually.
SPEAKER_09I'm telling you, it had it been hookups. It had it been hookups that just like ran like type in hookups D at W L S. Yeah, it was probably a certain we'll get to the bottom of this real quick and then we'll take a break.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you didn't shop at Pac Sun though. Where was the other option?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, no, of course we shopped at Pac Sun, but we also went to real skate shops.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I'm trying to think about it.
SPEAKER_09Outer limits of the mall. I did shop at Pac Sun and stuff like that, but that was like only when I had no choice to go to the mall. But most of the time, if I was like gonna get us something from surf like related when I was surfing, I would go to Sunrise or Aqua East. Yeah, um with like skate related. I was like Kona, if I was in the mall, outer limits. Um yeah, dude. I've never remember skate bomb.
SPEAKER_08Boom, you got the bomb, dude. Fucking square one. Square one shout out, people nicotine Edwin, dude. Nicotine? Yeah, I know I never went to nicotine back in the day. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05Remember outer limits. Shout out to 99 St.
SPEAKER_08Muggs. Yep.
SPEAKER_05Well, in Orange Park, we had Board City back in the day. Board City, yeah. Remember Board City, yeah. And that they literally like hosted like every skateboard thing.
SPEAKER_08I used to always uh be at the um untouchable tattoos at the mall and everything because like I was sponsored by Untouchable at Regency, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05That's where Rod Cruz. I remember. I've been tattooed there. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_08My buddy uh Mike Geiger, who sponsored me for Agony Skateboards, he worked there, and then um the other homie Anthony, he owned his own clothing company called Sias. And so like they would like always give me free shit, but like also like before like a contest and shit, I would get like a new board, and then Mike would give me money to go get new shoes from fucking Outer Limits. Like, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah. No, trust me. I get it.
SPEAKER_05Fucking damn nostalgia going down memory lane of my little brother bought a lot of boards from Outer Limits. I remember that.
SPEAKER_09Oh yeah. Uh well shit. Let's take this quick break and uh we'll be back in a few.
SPEAKER_10I took her out. It was a Friday night. I woke alone to get the feeling right. We started making out, just took up my bed and I turned on the TV.
Tamagotchi Parenting And Pet Debates
SPEAKER_09It is the doctor. And we have Mrs. Walnuts.
SPEAKER_05Courtney Bells. Yes, that is me. Courtney Bells.
SPEAKER_09Courtney Bells butts. Courtney Bells on the uh Tamagotchi. We made me we made the mistake of getting uh our seven-year-old a Tamagotchi for her birthday because that's what she wanted.
SPEAKER_05And tricked me into taking care of it.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, exactly. You're a grandmother now. We're invested.
SPEAKER_05Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_08But dude, my You are a grandmother now.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god.
SPEAKER_08You're a Tamagotchi grandma. Dude, like my uh my yeah, my youngest daughter, like wanted to get a Tamagotchi. And like we got her like the $50 one where she can like she can take pictures with it and everything, like of herself and like do selfies and all that shit. And even then, like she'll wake me up in the morning before she goes to school and she's like, Dad, you're gonna take care of my comp yeah, my Tamagotchi, right? And I'm like, Yeah, she's like, Alright, because Bella really needs you, okay? You can't let her die like you let her die already before.
SPEAKER_05I know Ophelia brings it to me at like 6 30 in the morning and leaves it. Yeah. Like on my nightstand.
SPEAKER_08She's like, We're we're going to school. Love you, bye. She's so brave.
SPEAKER_05She's so sweet, but like that wasn't the point, you know.
SPEAKER_09No, it's supposed to teach you responsibility, little girl. Yeah, guess who's not getting a pet fish? Oh, exactly. Like they want a tarantula, and then her Oh god, no. And then, yeah, we're we were talking about, okay, what if we got one? And then was like it'd probably be in Lucy's room, and then Ophelia's like, well, why can't I have it in my room? And I'm like, case in point, the fucking Tomagotchi.
SPEAKER_05Well, these kids are never satisfied because I got them a gecko that Mr. Butters, right? And then immediately.
SPEAKER_09No, that's my gecko.
SPEAKER_05But I got him for our family.
SPEAKER_09Correct, for me. Did I not? Let go of my gecko.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_09I wanted to save 15% or more on my car insurance.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, sure, we do. But so I got some egos.
SPEAKER_09So we got some Mark Brunel.
SPEAKER_05I mean anyways, so we get him, and then they ask for something else, you know, and I'm kind of a sucker because, you know, every time I go to the pet store, I'm like, there's a guinea pig, there's a parrot, there's a dude, guinea pigs eat their own babies.
SPEAKER_09That shit is gross, dude. There's a lot of things that eat their own babies, Chris. It's called protein.
SPEAKER_05And rejection.
SPEAKER_08My my cousins had rejecting.
SPEAKER_05Rejecting your own child.
SPEAKER_08Dude, I had to be like six years old or something. My cousins had a guinea pig, and I just walked up on a crime scene. It was just so horrifying. I was like Oh my like my stomach hurt, dude, just because I'm just watching this mom or dad just Well, you're also like a ninny that can't handle that kind of stuff.
SPEAKER_09Like you also couldn't watch Dahmer. Alright, so I can't either though.
SPEAKER_05So I'm gonna take Chris's side on the show.
SPEAKER_09There's something wrong with y'all.
SPEAKER_08It's just I mean, I know the story.
SPEAKER_05Okay, but the moral of the story is the kids got a gecko, and they don't need a tarantula right now. We have two dogs and a gecko.
SPEAKER_09Not right now. Maybe next week they m we might we might need one.
SPEAKER_05So Paul tried to backtrack. Ophelia came up to me and she was like, Did daddy tell you yes?
SPEAKER_09No.
SPEAKER_05Did daddy tell you the news? And I said, What's the news for the biggest?
SPEAKER_09She's seven years old and manipulated the truth. I know.
SPEAKER_05And I looked at Paul and I was like, We're getting a tarantula, and he's like, Oh, I didn't say that. And I was like, That's funny because your kid just literally told me that you said that.
SPEAKER_08Dude, I'm thinking about getting like my girl's a puppy. And it's mostly because I want a puppy. And like my dog Macy, she's 15 now, and like so. Is that really your dog? Yeah, I mean, we've had well, technically, I guess she's a family dog. Yeah, but like uh my older brother got it uh one night. He was at this like house like party or some shit. He's like, that's the ugliest fucking dog with the biggest underbutt I've ever seen.
SPEAKER_09She's mine.
SPEAKER_08No, apparently, like they were abusing her and shit, so like Adam just grabbed her and was like, yo, y'all fucking try and stop me, like, I dare you. And just walked out with her. And like, even like now and like even the entire time we've had her, like, she still acts like you know, she has like those like little twitches, like she's gonna get hit or abused or something. But uh, you know, she's never been hit or abused or anything in the house. But yeah, she's 15 now and she's you know. She's lived her best life.
SPEAKER_09She's a tiny little half poodle something. It's a opsa lopsa uh a lopsa topsumopsa.
SPEAKER_05Uh what a what a whada.
SPEAKER_09Exactly. Yeah, it's like a opsa lopsa poodle. She doesn't know he doesn't know what it is.
SPEAKER_05He's nobody knows what it is. Is it white? Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_05With long hair. It's sometimes curly.
SPEAKER_08Curly, yes. White, fluffy. Uh I'll take a picture when I get home and send it to you.
SPEAKER_05It's a lollapalooza.
SPEAKER_09A lollapalooza, exactly. That's what it is with a three-inch underbite. I'm pretty sure the the red hot chili peppers uh headlined the last time she was born.
SPEAKER_05Why did you have to bring them into it?
SPEAKER_09Because of California occasion. That was a lot of people.
SPEAKER_05Lollapalooza from like 10 years ago.
SPEAKER_09Lopsapalooza.
SPEAKER_05Lots of Palooza. I think Little Wayne's at Lotsapalooza now.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, little Wayne's apparently is everywhere. I do lots of Palooza right in the morning. You know what I'm saying?
