Studies show that just 20 minutes in contact with nature will significantly lower your stress hormone levels.  Spending time outside in nature is good for the body and the mind.  Research indicates that being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, anxiety, worry, and stress and increases feelings of well being.  Exposure to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical well-being by reducing blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and the production of stress hormones.

This episode is part 8 in a series of excerpts from the book "You Got This! an action plan to calm fear, anxiety, worry, and stress" by Linda Bjork.
