Elizabeth Polinsky is a military marriage counselor in Norfolk, Virginia, and the host of The Communicate & Connect Podcast for Military Relationships.  She is also currently working on a Ph.D. in Marriage & Family Therapy with a specialization in couple therapy.

What makes marriage so challenging?  We all have deep seated fears like:  Am I accepted?  Am I good enough?  Am I going to be abandoned?  Am I a failure?  In marriage, we often trigger each other's worst fears without even realizing it because we deeply care what the other person thinks about us.  In this episode we discuss how to increase emotional awareness which helps us not react to those potential triggers, so we can create an environment where both partners can feel safe, loved, and understood.

Liz currently works at The Relationship Center in East Beach Norfolk. More information about counseling services can be found at www.elizabethpolinskycounseling.com
