Hey my friends, welcome to Behind the Mike Podcast. I'm Mike Stone and I want to warn you right upfront this episode may shake you up a bit, but it might also be exactly what you need right now. So let me just say it. There's there's a war going on all around us. Not just around us, but in us. I'm talking about the battle for your mind. If you've ever found yourself thinking things that don't line up with truth. But they feel so real, well, you're not alone. And you're not crazy. You see, the enemy of your soul doesn't always come with horns and pitchforks. Sometimes he just comes with a whisper, a lie that sounds a little too close to the truth. So today we're exposing that lie, and I'm going to show you how to fight back. Well, let’s start here. Your mind is the most valuable territory in your spiritual life. I’m going to back that up because what you think shapes how you live.
Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Notice it doesn’t say renew your behavior. First it says renew your mind because transformation starts in the thought life. I don't think that's too hard for us to understand. That happens all the time to me. You got to control what you're thinking about. Guess what? The enemy knows that.
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that we're not “fighting against flesh and blood”. It's not just the media or the politicians or your toxic coworker. This is a spiritual battle. So if your mind feels under attack, it's because it probably is. So let's talk about how the enemy fights. Satan's number one weapon is deception. We go all the way back to Genesis 3 and he shows his hand right up front. He says, “Did God really say...” to Adam and Eve that was his move in the garden and it's still his move. Now he doesn't need to get you to deny God. He just need you to start doubting him subtly. An example of this,
Jesus said in John 8:44 that the devil is the father of lies, and that when he lies, he's speaking his native language. So let that sink in. The great deceiver. This is what the enemy does. He doesn't kick down the door screaming. He just twists what's true until it starts to sound familiar. Comfortable, harmless. That's the danger. Let me give you a few modern examples. How about follow your heart? Sounds cute,
but Jeremiah 17:9 says, “the heart is deceitful above all things”. How about God just wants me to be happy? Actually, he wants you to be holy. And sometimes holiness costs some comfort. What about. I just can't forgive myself. Well, that's not in the Bible. God's forgiveness is enough. Period. How about. My identity is based on how I feel. That's not identity. That's instability. Identity is who God says you are. See how subtle it can be? The enemy isn't just attacking your faith. He's attacking your entire framework. He wants you to measure truth by your emotions, to filter Scripture through our culture, to trade conviction for your comfort. Let me speak to something a lot of us wrestle with. Do you ever think, why am I so anxious? Why can't I stop thinking these thoughts? And why do I feel stuck in this cycle? Sometimes you start thinking that you're crazy, but you're not crazy. You're in a war. Second Corinthians ten four through five says this. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine powers to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. And we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. That means we just don't let our thoughts run wild. We have to interrogate them. If it doesn't line up with God's Word. It doesn't belong in your mind. That's easy to say, right? But it's true. So how do we fight this war? Well, I'm going to give you four practical ways. First of all, we have to recognize the lie. So we have to ask ourselves, who told me that? Was it culture? Was it a past wound? Was it a manipulative voice or the voice of truth? Secondly, we have to reclaim the truth. Jesus fought the enemy in the wilderness with one phrase, just one phrase. It is written. Get in the word. Read your Bible. Speak the word. Stand on the word. You don't need another self-help book. You need the sword of the spirit. Number three renew your mind daily. This isn't a one time fix. It's a daily discipline. We have to start our morning with Scripture before scrolling. We have to replace the lies with truth. And we have to do it on purpose. Number four, reinforce your identity. You're not your failures. You're not your feelings. You're not what the enemy says you are. If you're in Christ, you are loved. You're chosen. You're equipped and you're sealed. Don't fight like a victim. When God has already made you victorious. Another challenge, right? So let me ask you this. What lie have you been believing lately? That you'll never change. That you're too broken. Maybe that God's tired of you. Or maybe it's that you let your past define you. Whatever it is, today is the day to break into the light. This week, I want to challenge you. Identify one lie you've believed and replace it with some truth from God's Word. Write it down. Speak it out loud. Pray it over yourself. You're not powerless. And you're not alone. And you're not too far gone. You just need to stop believing the lie. Start fighting like you believe the truth. Well, thanks for joining me on Behind the Mic podcast. If this episode stirred something in you, share it. Text it to a friend. Post it on your feed. Let someone know they're not fighting alone either. And if you're not already subscribed, hit the subscribe button. We've got more truth to unpack in the coming weeks, and we want to encourage you along the way because it's a tough journey. Until next time, guard your heart. But never forget to guard your mind because that's where the battle is happening and the battle is real. But so is the victory. Take care and God bless.
