MFREE 112 Trailer # 4 with Christine Healey: Can Regular Investors Finally Get In on the Private Game?

Shelon Hutchinson Season 3 Episode 112

Aloha, It’s Shelon "Hutch" Hutchinson here! If you’re enjoying 'The Multifamily Real Estate Experiment' podcast, please like, comment, and share our episodes to help us reach and inspire more people. Thank you for your support!

In this episode, Hutch and Christine Healey talk about something wild — how some of the most valuable companies in the world still aren’t accessible to everyday investors.

SpaceX at $400B. OpenAI at $500B. Massive companies, yet you still can’t buy their stock in a regular brokerage account. That’s no accident. Christine unpacks how access to these private markets has historically been reserved for family offices, ultra-wealthy investors, or employees close to the source.

But now? The game is shifting.

She explains why some insiders sell even when they still believe in the company, what’s happening behind the scenes with delayed IPOs, and how new pathways are emerging for qualified investors to finally participate.

This episode is a behind-the-curtain look at how wealth is built quietly — and why having access early can change everything.

Track 1:

It's crazy in today's world that you could be a half trillion dollar company and not be available to everyday public market investors to buy on a normal public brokerage account. And so it is his, it has historically been these family offices, billionaires, venture capitalists that have bought into these. Rounds directly with Elon or directly with SpaceX, A lot of them are now starting to sell because they've been waiting for IPO so long and it doesn't always mean you don't believe in the company anymore. A lot of times people selling these high tech stocks, still believe in the company. They need a little bit of cash for whatever reason It could be an employee of the company trying to start a new business, put their kids through college, buy a house, and they may be very bullish about the prospects of the company whose shares they hold. But that doesn't take away from their need to have some cash to fund their lifestyle or business goals. And so people often stay very optimistic, but they sell a little bit along the way. Especially if it's been 15 years and there's still no IPO. And so you see really interesting dynamics come up lately in this environment for that reason.
