Tim Reitsma - Embracing Change & Adversity
As you've seen, Season 3 is dedicated to my father, Mike Jacox, who passed away late in 2021. I Love and miss you, Dad. Thank you, #CatchSitkaSportFishing and #ACMEHomes, for your continued support!!!
Today, we sat down with Tim Reitsma, General Manager of People Managing People, a community for people managers and culture creators. They are an online publication whose mission is to help people lead and manage their teams and organizations more effectively. With over 15 years of leadership experience, Tim has always been guided by his core values: faith, family, curiosity, and fun. He has been a speaker for various events, such as the Women in Tech Regatta, The Tech Talent Conference, and at multiple schools and churches.
Today's conversation takes us to the great white north, eh....where we learn how Tim is striving to become the ultimate leader of his home. Tim is a dad who has faced, and continues to face, adversity. Tim faces the challenges of Crohn's Disease and severe arthritis, which can be very difficult to manage. Thankfully, he is married to his wonderful wife, Tania, and they have two kids together - William and Keona.
As you listen to this episode, you will see why Tim is such a good leader. He is curious and embraces vulnerability. He also understands that we all have a story and is strong enough to know when his ego is getting in the way. He reminds us that we must hit things head-on, talk about our feelings, embrace change, and always be present. Additionally, he talks about ways to face and deal with change. Lastly, Tim asks a few powerful questions regarding how we show up as a dad and whether we are catalysts for positivity and love in our homes?
