Pat Di Domencio - A Story of Resilience
As you've seen, Season 3 is dedicated to my father, Mike Jacox, who passed away late in 2021. I Love and miss you, Dad. Thank you, #CatchSitkaSportFishing and #ACMEHomes, for your continued support!!!
Today, we sat down with Pat Di Domenico, who resides in Australia, and was introduced to me by a former guest, Collin Mitchell. Pat and his wife are kept busy by their three active boys. Pat is the host of the Resilient Dad podcast, which provides a voice for fathers to stand with a purpose to become the role model their kids deserve. Understanding the effects of separation on a child from his own experience, at the young age of five, with all the desire in the world for his own kids to never be in the same situation, unfortunately, the pattern reoccurred.
Seeing many more fathers experiencing the same pain and not knowing where to turn or go for help, Resilient Dad was created. Pat's episode is raw and vulnerable and will touch many's hearts. He shares a story of growing up with his parents getting divorced. Additionally, Pat shares the heartbreak of losing his brother at 18 and the pain of losing a cousin, too. Pat's challenges would later impact his health, which he bravely opens up about.
Today's episode has a lot of gold for us dads to self-reflect and grow. Not only does he instill the power of curiosity in us dads, but he also talks about being laser-focused on being present, having compassion for others, and being empathetic.
