Greg Altman - A Father's Journey filled Full of Wisdom
As you've seen, Season 3 is dedicated to my father, Mike Jacox, who passed away late in 2021. I Love and miss you, Dad. Thank you, #CatchSitkaSportFishing and #ACMEHomes, for your continued support!!!
Today, we sat down with Greg Altman, the Western PA Manager for The TaylorMade Golf Company. I was fortunate enough to spend time with Greg this summer when I was asked to speak at their sales kickoff meeting, which was so fun! I was introduced to Greg through one of TaylorMade's fantastic leaders, Mark Krahe. Like most folks from Pennsylvania, Greg grew up with a tough, blue-collar mindset. He and his lovely wife, Mary, have been married for 33 years and have two wonderful children (Sam, 32 & Abby, 30).
In this powerful episode, we learn about Greg's upbringing of hard work instilled by his father and grandfather. They both were very driven, hard-working, and humble men who set quite the example for Greg and his siblings. As he got older, one of the great lessons he was taught was to go and make a new friend today and, ideally, sit with someone who would hire him one day. So good!
As a father, Greg graciously shared many stories of wisdom, including a "donuts with dad" experience and a phrase titled, "No seconds off." Greg learned and taught you must be a man of your word and always set proper expectations. As we wrapped up, Greg shared three areas of fatherhood that we all can learn: to listen, be present, and stay curious!
