Welcome to the five minute success mindset. I'm Kristen Becker from Brilane. Welcome to part two of our three part letting go series. If you missed the first episode, it's right before this, check it out. And there's gonna be another one right after this, check that out as well, because it's all about letting go. And when you let go, you create space for better things, better feelings, better life experiences. And today we're talking about letting go of trauma. Now, we all have some form of trauma, and almost everybody recognizes the term PTSD, post traumatic stress disorder, that's a label that's a story boggles my mind that almost nobody is aware that there is something called post traumatic stress transformation. And anybody can do this. It's not a miracle. It's just a process, and anybody can learn it. And anybody can put the effort into doing it, and actually turning your trauma into something very powerful that has benefits for yourself and others. Now, I was at a party this weekend, like a family reunion kind of thing. A girl hadn't seen in a long time, asking me about my son. And I started to realize she was not aware that he had passed away. So I told her, she was shocked. And what I realized, reflecting on this later, not at the time, was that for the whole rest of the day, I launched into the trauma story. And why Well, number one, it gets you attention, sympathy, compassion, right? Oh, you poor baby. And it also releases emotions. We like to feel emotion. I talked about that in the first episode. But on reflecting on it, I was like, oh, man, that's not how I want to roll. That is not my trauma transformation story, right, I unfortunately, went down the wrong path and habitually, you know, from the habit and learning told the story in this way and looked at it in this way. And here's the thing, reframing storytelling, we all do this, we literally create our own stories. And the research shows that there's almost no fact, no alignment with actual fact, because we embellish, and we imbue it with so much emotion and stuff and shift, you keep telling yourself a story and embellish it a little bit every time we tell it. And it becomes bigger and more grand and further from the truth. However, the truth can be how we choose to see it. And that's my point here. I know, I'm kind of going down a rabbit hole. But when I reflected on this, and I thought, you know what, this being the trauma, and why is it traumatic, because it's shocking, you feel a shocking, sudden emotion. And that really drives your system, and it can go in a negative direction, or it can go in a positive direction. And it's all about the story that you tell. And I'm just gonna keep going with this example. Because I already started this, my son was on this planet for 24 years, there's lots of stories I could tell if I want to talk about him, I could, you know, go on for days, right? I personally use that experience to get to for growth, right to understand, like, Where did I make mistakes in how I interrelated with him that I don't want to make in the future? Because you don't have a second chance, right? Very powerful to have that understanding. And how can I more like really be present for and appreciate the people that are here, because I taken it for granted, you know, and that is very powerful. And I'm grateful to have that insight. And, you know, I'm grateful for every, all of the experience, you have to give blessing for the opportunity to learn and grow. So you look at a situation, you might say, well, that sucked. But within that, always within the suffering is an opportunity to learn and grow. And if you don't, then you're talking patterns and repeating patterns. But if you see the opportunity to learn and grow, that's what leads to transformation. So but I want to keep it kind of on the story thing, because that's all I'm suggesting is that you explore the idea of telling yourself a better story. And so again, back to the same example, what's the healing story? I've done lots of healing. By sharing that story with people, I can give them some incentive or inspiration or motivation to heal themselves, right? And to tell themselves a better story, and to be in a more comfortable place with this thing that happened. The transformation, I could tell my transformation story. So here's what I suggest you pick something that was traumatic. And you can identify what's the story I have been telling, right? And then what is a better story in what ways did this catalyzed me to grow and to learn and to live a better, more connected, more loving more fulfilling life? That's always there. Okay. And take a week and practice Every day telling yourself this new story because you know that in your inner dialogue in your mind, not only just talking to people, but in your own inner dialogue, you have reinforced the old story. So you've now got to build the neural networks around and reinforce the new story, what good came of it? How did I get more clear about what I don't want, you know, in life or something or more clarity, that gives me the ability to love myself because I'm so clear about what I don't want because this crappy thing happened, right? That's a new story. That's a better story. So just practice telling yourself a healing, a transformational story. Because remember, you can spend a whole entire lifetime in post traumatic stress disorder, but you can also have post traumatic stress transformation. It is a real thing. Anybody can do it. And this is a very small and simple way to start walking down that path. Be sure to join me in the next episode because we are going to be talking about how to let go of your need for comfort. Sounds crazy, it's very liberating. New episodes of the five minute success mindset come out every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Be sure to subscribe so you never miss one.
