Episode 85: Asher Dezsery, RecFish SA

This week  we are joined by Asher Dezsery, who is the Executive Officer of RecFish SA. As the only paid employee of the peak body for rec fishing in SA, Asher has been super busy working behind the scenes on a heap of exciting projects and we chat to him about a wide variety of news items:

·      The proposed SnappBack Snapper stewardship program  to engage and educate rec fishos in the Snapper recovery.

·      Green Adelaide has committed $20,000 towards an opera house net round up, after these were recently banned to help protect native animals.

·      Asher and some RecFish SA board members recently met with premier Peter Malinauskas to discuss rec fishing.

·      Could the bag limit for Snapper fishing in the South East be on the rise

·      Consultation on the Port Mac wind farm proposal is ramping up.

Plus we discussed some other news, including Second Valley Jetty closed temporarily after storm damage, a nasty fish injury for an Aussie surfing in Bali and a US crew misses out on $5.1 million after their 280kg Marlin was bitten by a shark.

We also have the winner of our Winter Whiting Competition: Congratulations to Dylan Hancock, who wins a great prize thanks to Shimano for his picture of his daughter holding a good size King George Whiting.
