Episode 156 - Lucas Weaver
This week we are joined by freshwater fishing guru Lucas Weaver. He is the RecFish SA Director for the Riverland and Reservoirs and has caught more Callop and Murray Cod than most! He has recently been involved in tagging a lot of fish for the ‘Lets Go Fishing Competition’ and also presented in the recent RecFish SA Forum on all things freshwater fishing. He is also heavily involved in the Lower Murray Lure Fishing Club and also tells us about some of his Saltwater catches to show his versatility!
Some of our listeners have got around our push for some more listener engagement and have sent in voice messages. Thanks to Isiah Luther Nunerley for his message about whether a lumo bead may have led to a shark biting him off, Beau Lavigne asked about good conditions to launch at Victor Harbor and Anton Read had some suggestions about future merch including the idea of custom prop flags.
As always we have all the latest fishing news, including:
- RecFish SA, Fleurieu Charters, Want To Fish Charters and The Game Fishing Club of SA combine to find the Tuna via a plane!
- A man caught with a big haul of illegal Crayfish in the South East.
- Fishing restrictions around the country continue with Tassie Flathead the latest to be hit.
- Kingston Jetty is still awaiting an insurance claim after storm damage in May 2025.
- The Algal Bloom causing devastation around Point Turton and into the lower parts of Spencer Gulf.
Our tackle item of the week is the Vexed Dingle-Dangle, a clever device that lifts your bait off the bottom, making it more visible to fish and well away from Crabs and Rays. We also have all the latest fishing reports including Blue Swimmer Crabs, Whiting, Garfish and an update on the Wirrina Tuna Comp which was taken out by a superstar crew including Brad from Fleurieu Charters and Tyson from Want To Fish Charters.
