Episode 167: Alex Hayes, Founder of Yondy Backpacks

This week we are joined by a gun local fisho who has come up with his own high end backpack for all of those who love to fish, adventure and travel. Fed up with backpacks that weren’t quite right and often not versatile enough, he has created a system where different components can be added or clipped on dependant on the adventure. We chat all about the 4 year journey from the idea to launching in recent weeks as well as talk about all his fishing here in SA, including catching a Spencer Gulf Mahi Mahi this year as well as heaps of Kingfish and Barrel Tuna too!

Plus, we have all the South Australian fishing news:

  • Bird Flu numbers increasing, particularly in Robe and the South East
  • A Snapper Rebuilding Plan has been released by PIRSA
  • Robe Council has increased boat ramp fees to $30 per use.
  • A ‘toilet’ adventure to KI

We also chat about our Competition where you can win a large tackle bag from Shimano for submitting your funniest fishing story. While our fishing report includes winter whiting and whispers of early season Kingfish in Spencer Gulf - Sportfishing Scene have put together the perfect combo to target these fish: A Shimano Saragosa 14000 and a Shimano Deep Curve Rod which we chat about as our tackle item of the week.
