Our beliefs inform our self-concept. Spending time and energy berating ourselves for failing to live up to unreasonable self-expectations causes us to have a distorted concept of who we really are and what we can accomplish in life. When we learn to identify and tame our inner critic we begin the life-altering process of moving from self-condemnation to self-acceptance. It is through genuine self-acceptance that we learn to experience genuine self-love.
