Show Notes

It’s very difficult to describe in a short summary how much this episode means to us. Chris Herren joins us on the podcast today for an episode that is a must-listen. This is a conversation that could potentially change lives as many of his previous powerful speeches have done already.

Herren was a standout player at Durfee High School. At one point he was a Top 10 Nationally ranked player, Gatorade New England Player of the Year two years straight, Boston Globe Massachusetts Player of the Year three years straight, and 1994 McDonald’s All American. Unfortunately, along with the many accolades was a substance abuse problem. Herren was selected by the Denver Nuggets in the 1999 NBA Draft even after multiple failed drug tests during his college career. In our conversation today, Herren shares the struggles and dark times that eventually ended his basketball career and put his life in jeopardy.

The story of Chris Herren could have easily had a tragic ending, but he is now accomplishing things that are far more impressive than anything he has done on the court. Herren has been sober since August 1st, 2008. He’s become one of the most powerful and impactful voices for wellness and recovery, telling his story and raising awareness across the world. He has funded the non-profit Herren Project where Chris and his team help schools and communities make healthy choices while helping families through recovery. He also founded Herren Wellness that helps people live healthy, substance-free lives.

We love Chris Herren and can’t thank him enough for this time. His ability to connect with others and educate is beyond incredible. This episode is special to us and we know these conversations will reach someone in need. Chris’s words always do.

Thank you Chris Herren.

In the 16 countries that we are currently charting in, we hope that this conversation can reach at least one person. At least just one.
