Become Who You Are
#683 Are You An Accident of History? Does Life Have Meaning and Purpose? What is the Truth of Things?
Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”
The root of the cultural chaos we are experiencing is a surrender of the Truth of things!
Today Jack takes you inside a viral confrontation over women’s locker rooms, presses into why definitions matter for safety and law, and asks a harder question most debates skip: are we created with purpose and order, or are we accidents of history free to redefine reality on the fly?
From that starting point, everything else follows—coherent policy, compassionate boundaries, and a moral ecology that protects the vulnerable.
We share the exchange of a Lesbian Black women with a liberal state senator as a case study in clashing worldviews: identity claims versus biological reality, the language of “inclusion” versus the lived experience of women who need privacy and protection. Then we widen the frame to children, adoption, and natural law. If public institutions treat bodies as arbitrary and family as interchangeable, who absorbs the cost? We wrestle with that question honestly and keep kids at the center.
We also examine the Church’s Shepherds, who are responsible for proclaiming the Truth...who instead struggle to speak with clarity, highlighting moments of institutional confusion and the courage of leaders like Bishop Strickland who ask for fidelity to doctrine.
Rather than despair, we pivot to formation: how small, faithful communities and daily habits can renew minds and rebuild culture from the parish outward. Scripture’s promise—“you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free”—is presented as a roadmap to real freedom, not license, and to love that is ordered, fruitful, and humane.
If you’re tired of “my truth” vs “your truth,” this conversation offers first principles, practical steps, and a battle plan for living the truth with charity. Subscribe and share with a friend who’s seeking after the Truth of things.

Welcome to the Become Who You Are podcast and production of the John Paul Two Renewal Center. Hey, great to have you with us. Today's episode is titled Accident or Creative. What is the truth of things going down the rabbit hole of gender ideologies? It's so confusing. We have a sense, and I'm talking to people all the time, that uh, and you can see it all around us, evil is just out in the open. And so, of course, we have the Claymore uh Battle Plan Handbook coming out, and I just give you a little heads up on that. It's at the publisher right now. It was written for young men, but I could see it already as I'm talking to people. So many people have questions about uh gender and war and all the things that are going on in the church, the deep state, the deep church. So the handbook lays out a foundation, it gives us a foundation in the truth. We have to get back to the truth. Once you start to compromise with the truth, what is the truth of things? Once you start to go down that rabbit hole of, well, I believe everything but this or whatever, you just lose it. And I want to make that that point today. I want to show you a clip of T Tish Hyman. She's a uh a black lesbian woman. She she was harassed, first of all, in the gym. This video of her uh pushing back on a trans woman who is a man, who looks like a man, who talks like a man, walks like a man, has been harassing women in this locker room. Uh and so she's pushing back. She goes, Why is a man in the locker room? Well, that's a trans woman, that's not a man. She goes, that's a man in there. Anyways, it went viral. So she's uh confronting California State Senator Scott uh Wiener. And if you know him, this guy is is a is a talk about a sexual Looney Tune. Uh just look him up if you want to. And and so in this confrontation, very, very interesting because you're gonna see uh these ideologies, right? When you twist and distort these ideologies, you just keep on going. You just you know you just keep on winding down. So I want I want to show you that a little bit and get your impression of it. Before I do, Claymore Battle Plan again for young men. You know, you live in an age, this is right from the parts of the back cover, you live in an age of confusion and collapse. The ear hums with false promises, screens flashing, counterfeit versions of the truth, happiness, and love. The world shouts that pleasure is purpose and that truth is whatever feels right. But even in the chaos, a quiet ache stirs in the hearts of the young men were meeting, a hunger for something more. I see it in your eyes. You're restless, you're tired of shallow answers and cheap imitations of meaning. You sense that life must have a deeper purpose, and you're right. The Claymore Battle Plan was born from the collision between these two realities, the darkness of our age and the unquenchable light of divine truth. It was inspired by the evil I witnessed all around me, the assault on human dignity, the lies about love, the destruction of innocence, especially the innocence of children and the young men that we're meeting that had their innocence stolen from them, and they're rising up to meet the challenges. Shaped by the life and teachings of John Paul II, the warrior pope, a prophet from our time, that carries his message into today's battlefield. Be not afraid. This handbook is your battle plan. Your sword that you see behind me, the logo, the big claymore sword, is not one of violence, but truth and love. The call is ancient. You too go into my vineyard. So we're gonna rise up, brothers. We're building communities in different parishes all over. And it's so beautiful because you you you come into like-minded people, you're sharing this, and not only sharing it, but sharing it in the in the church, huh? And the church has been the the uh the uh the the leadership in the church, and I'm gonna show you a clip or two of that, is just in in the dark place, but the individual parishes and the individual priests, this is where we're building up community, and there's reasons for that. And so to get fully alive, fully human, fully free, you have to walk into the truth of things. So let me show you this clip. I'm gonna share my screen and show you this clip, and I'm gonna play a pretty good piece of it because I want you to get an idea and then we'll make some comments. Trans women are women.
SPEAKER_00:I've I've read a lot of you guys. Trans women are men, of course. I need to be opened up. And I'm telling you now, millions of women across America are being harassed and sexually assaulted in locker rooms. I'm a lesbian black woman, I'm not transphobic, I'm not homophobic, and I do respect a lot of the things you've done. But I do see a lot of these bills that you've passed that are dangerous for women and young children. And I understand that you're trying to be on a level playing field, and I'm here to represent my community because I hear a lot of things about my community in these bills. And I'm telling you as a woman, first and foremost, that this is dangerous, and we need your help because you're in the office, you're gonna go in a policy spot. I want to support you. I have millions of people behind me watching this right now, and we want to know are you going to protect women? Not trans women, women, women, trans women are different things. Women, women, listen, we need to protect women's safety. I'm just women. I was assaulted. No, they are not. I was assaulting my man. He broke his wife's jaw so bad, she needs to reconstruct the surgery. I'm a lesbian, I'm not transphobic, and I'm black. So if there's another black woman in here who wants to tell me how they feel, please join in. But all of you are not, and I don't know who you are or what you are, but I'm a lesbian, and I'm telling you right now, you're not harassing women in the locker room. I'm just telling you, since I'm gonna let you know. And by the way, I respect what you have done. I just want to let you know that.
SPEAKER_01:I appreciate your point of view. I'm so sorry that you were I appreciate you talking about it. Um I I think we need to protect the safety of all women, and and and uh obviously that's incredibly important.
unknown:Uh also know that trans women are also brutalized in this country.
SPEAKER_01:So women and and and cisgender women are brutalized in this country, and we have to protect safety all women. We have to protect women.
SPEAKER_00:We cannot be raped in the bathrooms by men that want to say they're women. They're not women, they're not women. I'm leaving. It's okay, but I'm not gonna take I am leaving, because you know what? You guys are not protecting women.
SPEAKER_02:You okay, there you go. So what happens with all that? You know, you you have so much there we can unpack. But when you see these gender ideologies and you see uh Tish, and I again I don't my heart goes out to her, you know, she's a black lesbian. I mean, who knows? So many of these young people uh that we're meeting have been sexually abused as as you know by men, and then they they don't want anything to do with men, and they're trying to find love, you know, so your heart goes out to them. But my point being, once you go down those rabbit holes, you see, she says, she says to uh to to this senator, California senator, she said, Hey, I agree with so much that you're doing, huh? With all these rights and pushing all these rights and stuff. But now, on this one point, you know, uh you you can't tell me that that uh that what you know trans women are men and they can go into a locker room. Well, now did you hear everybody pushing back against them? No, trans women are women, saying that a man is a woman. You know, you what Tish doesn't understand, she's trying to reason with the senator, right? I agree with so much of what you do, Baba Ba. No, you either got to agree with the truth of things, and politics can be a messy thing, but the truth of things, you've got to be on that path. And if you don't understand the truth yourself, you know, as a senator, um, or or you're gonna vote for you know my people, I get it, give me this little bit, and then I'll support you on all this other stuff. Well then you're hurting somebody else, and then who are we ultimately hurting? We're hurting the you know the innocent, we're hurting the the uh the families that want to live out uh as a nuclear family, want to live out uh natural law, nature's laws, uh divine revelation. When you take truth out, truth seeks, when our reason seeks the truth. When you take God out, let's start with that. When you take God out, God in Mespes number 36, when God is forgotten, the creature grows unintelligible. And you say, why is that? Because God is the truth of things. He created things in truth, in order, what's true, what's good, and what's beautiful in the world. And he creates this in a certain order. When we take God out, uh we grow very uh unintelligible. We don't know who we are anymore. We're grasping, trying to fill the infinite space of God in a finite world. Tish is trying to find that with another woman. Anyway, to take it. Now she wants her safe space. You can do anything else you want, but give me that safe space. Well, again, it's hurting here, it's hurting here, it's hurting there. You know, Satan is very smart. He's gonna, you know, use this to drive wedges between everybody. And ultimately, what Tish is doing again when I get back to what is the truth? What is the truth? So reason seeks the truth. When you no longer seek the truth, your reason becomes very cloudy, very unreasonable. If you're going to discuss something with someone, you there has to be an objective truth. If it's just the opinions, there's what what happens with that? When you take out truth, it's all falsehood, it's all lies, it's all rabbit holes that we go down. And then violence is the only way to solve that. Violence. You see how she gets angry, everybody gets angry, people are in the audience get angry. Um, if I kept playing that for you, you'd see uh the moderator say, well, uh, you know, things were going smooth till then, and let's just change the subject, and that's what they did right away. They're not going to deal with any of these issues because Tish, again, thinks that Scott Weiner is reasonable, and he's not. When you throw out reason, your truth, the seeking the absolute truth, and there is no truth, it's just my truth or your truth, then it just becomes uh a politician that can that can give you the mumble jumble and you go down these rabbit holes. Okay, who really gets hurt by all this? And you got to remember this, the victims, the most the the the the people that really get hurt because people say, well, it's same-sex marriage or this or that, um, like somebody like Tish that's a lesbian, who gets hurt? Well, you know, children often are getting hurt. You're seeing this today with the with the seriously situation and adoption. Let me see if I could bring something up from John Paul II, if I could share that. And because these people like John Paul II have seen this a long time ago. Okay, here's here's John Paul II. And he said this. He said, pressure for homosexual relationships to be recognized as a different form of family, which are also entitled to the right to adopt, is a violation of God's law and an ideology of evil seeking to use human rights against humanity and the family. John Paul got a lot of pushback for writing that he saw this coming, and when he saw this coming, he goes, Wow, this has got to stop. Let me let me pull up another picture here. Here's two guys adopting, right? Here's two guys adopting a uh a child. Now look at this baby. This baby is is uh a brand new infant, hasn't hardly been wiped down, took that infant from their their mother, from their mother's womb, and takes that baby and just brings it into another room and hands it to two men. This is a baby that maybe didn't even feel its mother's warmth. I mean, look at that that child, if you see that picture, they really haven't even wiped that baby down really well, just came out of the mother's womb and now it's taken away from a mother. So if you think that's a good thing, I I'm sorry, but I I I gotta stop there. I almost get sick to my stomach, you know. Can you imagine that? You know, what is nature's law? You know, nature's law says every single child has a mother and a father. You know, and now you're gonna take this child and you're gonna give it to two men, you know, and it it becomes a very sad thing. I'll talk about sad things. Another sad thing is the church is is complicit in all this too. With uh you know, somehow the the upper echelon of the church has got uh infected. So let's let me let me play another clip for you here. Share the screen. Here are uh and and the article reads uh there uh openly gay ABC news anchor Gio Benendez Benantez joins the Catholic Church with his husband serving as his sponsor. Benendez says his confirmation mass, the church of Saint Paul the Apostle in Manhattan was inspired by the late Pope Francis. Well, of course, right? My deepest gratitude to Father Eric Andrews, Father James Martin, Father Paul Respond, and Father Chris Lawton for showing me that God's mercy, loving mercy is unconditional, he said on uh IG. And thanks to my incredible husband and my sponsor, Tommy D. Dario, for helping me through all of that. So what you have there two gay men coming into the church, you know, here's Tish was a lesbian black woman, here's two uh white or Italian or whatever uh gay men, and now they're accepted into the church. Again, when you allow these things uh that aren't the truth of natural law, nature's law, you know, w again who gets hurt? You know, you see this with the with the children, you can see this with the culture in decline. At the end of the day, look at we all we can do if you're in the church is stand for the truth, stand for the truth of things. You you know, when you um accept these false ideologies in the church, what are you doing? You're disrupting and twisting and distorting the truth of things. Um whether you know I have two gay neighbors or something, it's not about hatred, it's about eternal life. And Jesus talks very clearly about this. So uh let me let me pull up one more clip, if I could find it quick for you. Let me share the screen again. And this time I want to bring up uh Bishop Strickland. Now, Bishop Strickland talked about this at the at the USCCB, the United States Catholic Bishops Conference, and this is what he said.
SPEAKER_03:But since we're in the area of doctrine, I don't know how many of you of us have seen on the social media and others gathered celebrating the confirmation of a man, living with a man openly, and it just needs to be addressed. Uh Father James Martin once again involved great pictures of all of them smiling. Here we are talking about doctrine. I just thought I need to raise that issue. I know it's not part of any agenda, but this body gathered. We need to address it. Thank you. Thank you, Bishop. Thank you, Bishop.
SPEAKER_02:Please go ahead. Yeah, just a word of thank. Okay, there you go. So Bishop Strickland pushed back on this, and he gets nothing from the USCCB. Here's my point again. They are in a in a clouded world. They stepped away from the truth, they let these small ideologies in on all kinds of things contraception, abortion, homosexuality, the the church uh leadership is ripe with all this stuff. But the biggest mystery is the smoke of Satan has entered into the hierarchy in the church. And you see this. So what happens with with something like this apostle, with Claymore and with the rest of us? We find a good parish. We have to stand in the truth, you have to stand up, and you have to look for the truth. And you have to, my point being again, when you let these ideologies in, you see what happened now. Our secular culture, there's a secular church going on, and we have to fight back against this stuff. And Jesus Christ talked about this from the very, very beginning in John's gospel. I want to read this to you. And he's talking about the truth. And and this is John chapter 8, verses 31. You have to kind of just sit back, you have to continue to work this thing. That's why I want you to download that Claymore battle plan that's on our website. I'll put the link in. That's the Claymore Battle Plan outline. I mentioned the handbook earlier today, but the outline's already there. How to live your life. It's structured already. It's just five or six pages. You can print that out. The handbook then is it builds up all of those points so you understand them better. So they'll work together. But the outline, just you know, start it right away. It talks to you about prayer and getting into these routines, etc. So here's John, and part of that is reading scripture. That was going to be my point. So John chapter 8, 31. Jesus then said to the Jews who had believed in him, if you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. What happens with these USCCB bishops? They moved away from the truth little at a time, little at a time, and now they're sitting like that proverbial frog uh with you know, with evil itself, just mixed up with Satan and inside there. And so listen to this. They answered him. These are the the uh the the Jews of Jesus' time, right? And they say, Well, what are you talking about? You know, that we will know the truth and truth will set you free. We we know the truth. We're descendants of Abraham and have never been in bondage and slavery to anybody. How is it that you say you will be made free? Jesus answered them, Truly, truly I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not continue in the house forever, the son continues forever. So if the son makes you free, you will be free indeed. I know that you are descendants of Abraham, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you. I speak of what I have seen with my father, and you do what is heard from your father. Ooh, listen to this. They answered, Abraham is our father. Jesus said to them, If you were Abraham's children, you would do what Abraham did. But now you seek to kill me a man who has told you the truth which I have heard from God, this is not what Abraham did. You do the works of your father. They said to him, We are not born of fornication, we have one father, even God. Jesus said to them, If God were your father, you would love me, for I proceeded and came forth from God. I came not of my own accord, but he who sent me. Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, has nothing to do with the truth because there's no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and a father of lies. But because I tell you the truth, you do not believe me. Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell you the truth, why do you not believe me? He who is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is you are not of God. This is the battle, my friends. This is the battle. Stay in the truth. You gotta stay in the truth. I'll leave you with this. When Jesus was confronted in Matthew 19 by the Pharisees talking about divorce, can we divorce our wives? Let's get let's talk about a heterosexual problem here, right? Divorce and the breakup of marriages that you see. Again, we walked away from the truth of things. That that uh marriage is is the Imago Day. Marriage and the family is the Imago Day, a reflection of God and the world. And so Jesus is confronted by the by the Pharisees. And they said, Is it lawful to divorce one's wife for any cause? And he answered, Have you not read that he who made them be from the beginning made them male and female? And for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to the wife, and this and the two will become one. So they're no longer two, but one. What therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder. Why then did they they say that Jesus did Moses command one to give a certificate of a divorce and put her away? In the Old Testament, Moses finally gave up and said, Okay, divorce your wives. He said, Ah, because of the hardness of your hearts, Moses allowed you to divorce your wives. But from the beginning it was not so. This is not the way we're created. So again, he's getting back to the truth of things. He's bringing us back. You were created male and female. You're created when the two become one. Our sexuality, our bodies, and our sexuality are an expression of the soul. And when we're when we're traveling in the truth with Christ, it's an expression of divine truth. Divine truth. That's what we're called to manifest. Before sin, that's what we were doing, right? And I've talked about these things. If you want to go deeper into this, just uh I'll put my link again for X and also for my substack in the show notes. I I I put the first, I think, nine chapters or nine acts, I call them, short uh foundational pieces from the very first nine that I call the foundation. And that foundation gets you back into the truth of who we are. We have a mom and a dad. This is where we're created. You got to get this base down, and then you can go forward. If you goof around with that base that we come from a mom and a dad, that we're created, we're not an accident of history. You know, there's only two ways. You're an accident of history or you're a created being. If you have to decide one or the other of these things. And if you're an accident history, you're completely at liberty to do whatever you please with your life. Indulge it, trash it even, end it even. For this statement's true, your life is ultimately meaningless. See, this is what Tish and all these, you know, the Scott Wiener, they you know, do you believe in eternal life? Do you believe in something hereafter? Do you believe that meaning and purpose? If you do, you've got to look around and see natural law. You got to see the laws of nature, you've got to see how what is the truth of things, what is the reality of a man and a woman? You know, the a child can only come from that union. And when the two become one, open to three. The two become one, become three. Only in that, that's a Trinitarian reflection. And we get that. I'll end with Genesis chapter one. And this is what uh Jesus is pointing to when he said, In the beginning it was not so, right? That I just read. This is Genesis 1, uh verse 26. Let us make man, this is God speaking, in our image after our likeness. Let him have dominion over all of this, you know, the other things that I've created. So I want to bring my love into the world. How I'm gonna do that. So God created man in his image, in the divine image, he created them. Male and female, he created them. God blessed them, saying to them, Be fertile, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. So what does he do? God again, you've heard me say this before, but it's worth doing again, just to get to the truth of things. The father pours his love out to the son, the son receives that love. It's so beautiful and profound it comes out in the form of a person. We call this person the Holy Spirit. A husband pours his love out to his wife, his wife receives that love, and she receives in a giving way, right, and gives back to the husband. And it's so beautiful and profound, right? It can come out in the form of a person, that love. That's a tiny reflection of Trinitarian love in the world. If you miss that, if you don't understand that our bodies are made to express authentic love, Trinitarian love, divine love, and manifested in the world, and every child, that that little child that was handed to those two guys, that's an eternal being destined for eternity, that has a mom and a dad that should be together. You know, anything else you break apart, you start to sow destruction into the world and lies into the world, and you see this decline's coming very, very quickly. We have to get back to the truth of things. And the foundational truth is that we have to be filled with divine life and love and then become divine life and love in the world. We have to do it in the truth. We have to see what's good in the world, we have to see what's beautiful in the world, and we have to bring those things forward. And there's a lot of confused brothers and sisters out there. There's a lot of people that are just evil that don't want to know the truth. There's also a lot of people that have been uh maybe like Tish, I don't know Tish, obviously, but that have been maybe sexually abused and used or this culture just beat up. We have to bring the truth to them, and we have to share this truth. And so this is all part of the Claymore battle plan. Hey, God bless you. Thanks for being with me today. We'll talk to you again soon. Uh you know, my contact or our contact information is in the show notes. So this question comes up often. That's why I was addressing it today. I'll address some more in the upcoming uh days and weeks. So send me your questions when you see things uh out there, and we'll try to put them again back into and not just news stories, but but connect them to the truth, connect them to God's plan. It's the only way we're gonna get our hearts back, get marriages and families back, get our culture back, get our nation back, and and gain eternal life at the same time. Hey, God bless you. Talk to you again soon, everybody. Bye bye.
