Hello, hello everybody. Welcome back to the [00:01:00] podcast. I've got a short little update episode for you today, wrapping up season three of Pilates Teachers' Manual, sharing some stats and some look backs onto episodes from the past season. And then looking forward to the new season, which will be coming out in 2021. We made it through 2020. I'm proud of us.

So looking at season three of Pilates Teachers' Manual, there were 14 episodes including this little mini episode. And they ran from mid-September 2020 to mid-December 2020. There are four great interviews in this season, covering topics as vast as motor learning theory, men doing Pilates, breast cancer recovery, and a trauma informed Pilates approach. They are fantastic interviews. If you haven't listened to them, I do recommend that you check them out.

You can do that, you know, by scrolling [00:02:00] through your podcast site. On the YouTube channel that I have- it's linked in the show notes- there is a interview only playlist, and that's a really easy way to find all the cool people who have been on the show. I don't think there's a way for me to do that in other places, but you can definitely find it on YouTube.

We covered a wide range of topics in this season. Everything from really the process of becoming a teacher and teacher training programs, things like that, through what your scope of practice as a teacher, what class planning can look like ways to find your unique voice as a teacher, and also staying motivated and avoiding burnout, as a teacher in a normal situation and also as a teacher during COVID.

Just some stats about the episode. I do love a good stat. And as far as listenership goes, the location with most [00:03:00] listens is the United States. I feel like that's cheating. It is a very big country. Followed by Australia and the UK, which are tied for second place. And if Australia and the UK are tied for second place, the third place goes to Canada, our northern friends.

Most listens by city. Australia's got the upper hand here with both Sydney and Perth as big listeners followed by London. That's neat. I continue to be thrilled that the power of Pilates and the language of Pilates travels globally, that it's not one place that has a monopoly on Pilates, but really that it's something that we can connect over regardless of where we are in the world.

As far as what everyone is listening to the podcast on, kind of surprising, maybe not. I guess we live on our phones, but [00:04:00] 93% of listens to the podcast happen on a mobile device. Of those mobile devices, 82% of them are an iPhone. And 57% of you are using Apple podcasts to listen. And I think that's a US thing. I know that iPhones and Apple podcasts are really big in the US.

And that's why, if you are listening on an iPhone, I would really appreciate it. If you rate and review the podcast on Apple podcasts, because that is where the most people are finding the podcast. So, if you aren't sure what to get me for Christmas, you can definitely write a review. I would love that.

I do have a couple well announcements for you. Since you're tuning in, I can let you know that I will be going on a break for the holidays and I will be back with brand spanking new episodes on January 8th. That is a Friday. That's when I try to release the episodes. Depending on time changes that may or may not end up on a Friday, but that's the plan. And that will be the [00:05:00] start of season four for Pilates Teachers' Manual.

Just a quick note about seasons: they're arbitrary. If you're like, what does that mean? What was the season? Yeah, I just make it up as I go. They demarcate an otherwise endless period of time. If you check out the YouTube channel, you can see that there's like a season one, season two, season three, season four, playlist of the podcast. It shows up on the podcast website, but I don't think that other podcast platforms like Apple podcasts, or I know Spotify also do not show the seasons. It doesn't matter. They don't happen sequentially. You can listen whenever, wherever, take it on the go.

Looking ahead to 2021 and the new season, I have some really great interviews lined up with some fabulous leaders in our industry. I'm so excited to talk with them and also share things that they know, things that they've learned. Studios are still closed in Chicago, so I had some additional [00:06:00] time this past few months to do some continuing education surrounding trauma informed Pilates teaching approach and around making Pilates more accessible for larger bodies.

I've been able to read some great books and just move my body and new and interesting ways. I am really excited to share with you what I've been learning in the new season. I've had a lot of practice teaching virtually, so I've got some more insights into that process that I can share as well.

Also for shaping the new season, I do have a monthly zoom call with my supporters from that Buy Me a Coffee page. We talk all things Pilates, and you know, you can share your thoughts, your ideas, any questions that you have about teaching Pilates so that I can address them. Because that's part of what this podcast is for: answering those questions and having conversations about real things happening in our industry.

If you missed [00:07:00] this month's zoom call, you can definitely still reach out to me on Instagram or send me an email at pilatesteachersmanual@oliviabioni.com. I always love hearing from you and I appreciate your feedback. Thank you, everyone listening and everyone supporting the podcast, for tuning in, for donating to the project, for sharing your thoughts. It really is a collaborative project and I appreciate your support very much.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of the year. I will see you in 2021 with new episodes and a new season. Stay safe. And I'll talk to you again soon.
