Teach Us to Pray | Week Six | Matthew 6:9-13, 1 Peter 1:6-7 | November 16th, 2025

This week, our journey through the Lord’s Prayer brought us to one of the most honest and, for many, most confusing petitions: “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” Even as we recite these words with familiarity, they invite us into profound vulnerability and dependence. Jesus acknowledges the reality of testing and temptation in every life and teaches us to seek both protection and deliverance, not because God tempts, but because we are weak and in need of grace. This is a prayer born out of humility and an admission that we are not as strong as we think. That only God’s mercy can keep us from moral failure and draw us courageously through our trials. In voicing this prayer, we learn to shift our trust from our willpower to God’s sustaining grace.
