Don’t bad-mouth each other, friends. It’s God’s Word, his Message, his Royal Rule, that takes a beating in that kind of talk. You’re supposed to be honoring the Message, not writing graffiti all over it. God is in charge of deciding human destiny. Who do you think you are to meddle in the destiny of others? James 4:11-12

Bad mouthing others = questioning them or their authority, saying unhelpful or unkind things about them, spreading lies about them, etc.
We do this for a multitude of reasons: anger, fear, insecurity, bitterness, pride, jealously

It all boils down to the condition of our hearts (our whole inner being, including mind, emotions, drive).

Proverbs 4:23-27
Keep vigilant watch over your heart;
that’s where life starts.
Don’t talk out of both sides of your mouth; avoid careless banter, white lies, and gossip. Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions.
Watch your step, and the road will stretch out smooth before you.
Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust.
