Honoring Those That Served
Today is Memorial Day. A day that we honor our fallen heroes, those that served our country and made the biggest sacrifice, allowing us to enjoy the freedom we have. Did you know? Each year on Memorial Day a national moment of remembrance takes place at 3:00 p.m. local time. Today when the clock strikes 3:00pm local time, take a minute in silence to remember and thank those that we have lost in service. It’s also a good time to remember those loved ones we have lost and take a moment to reflect on the goodness they brought to your life. A few things happened this past week that reminded me of the importance of seizing every opportunity to stay connected, stay in integrity and to seize each day with joy, a reverence for life and gratitude. We have all loved and lost. How do you react when you lose a colleague, a friend, or a family member? Initially we go into disbelief and shock and denial. No, no, no. This can’t be true. I am experiencing a bit of that right now and I cannot seem to shake it yet. Someone in my life that I respected immensely left this earth. He served his country and so many others. We met while I was teaching a class and he was a student. A retired attorney, he decided to re-invent himself and start a new career in Real Estate. As I was teaching, I noticed he always sat in the back of the room staring intently. He had a poker face and I could not read him. Every good teacher prides herself at being able to read the audience and adjust the style and delivery as necessary. So, I did what I have been taught, engage the audience and have them participate. Join me on Motivational Moments with Maria as we honor those that served.
