right. Welcome to the auto ish podcast with Mike and Pete. Mike, It's been a while. How? Aria?

spk_1:   0:21
It has some doing. Great, man. Good. Good. Uh, you know, apologize for the quality in the event that it's a little off this week, but we're, uh We're doing our podcast via Skype.

spk_0:   0:33
Yeah, absolutely. First time. Kind of trying it out. Um, so fingers crossed. Most importantly, how are you? How's your family? How's everyone doing?

spk_1:   0:44
You know, thankfully, everybody's great, man. Thanks for asking. You know, these are crazy times. It's this cove in 19 things. It is a very scary thing, but thankfully, everybody's happy. You're healthy issued, say, but how about you?

spk_0:   0:59
Everyone's good. Um, you know, we're kind of just sticking it out, writing it out at home. Um, you know, on the nice days, just trying to take some time, gets Mexico walks in, and, ah, you know, on the rainy days catch up on some reading, watch few movies, you know, just kind of

spk_1:   1:16
nice, jealous, man. I'm still going to work.

spk_0:   1:20
You aren't right? So, interestingly, here in New Jersey. Um, was that Ah, two Saturdays ago. Phil Murphy. Shut down. Um, the in dealership sales That could be done. Ah, but did allow for the service departments to remain open.

spk_1:   1:37
Correct. Yeah. So we're still open and most importantly, just wanted to be available and ready for, you know, emergencies. You know, long time customers or customers in general that that need help. Especially first responders or anyone like that that had a flat tire, had an issue. Car broke down that kind of stuff. So we remained open, and it's been a very difficult decision. Um, you know, certainly want to make sure that we're concerned about our employees health as well. So we're very cautious. Everybody's adhering to the six foot rule were doing customer dropoffs and service, Dr. They don't even come in the building. And then we'll go out. The valleys will go out with gloves and, you know, master and everything else you put protective covered on the steering wheel and seeds. And then we sanitize the customer's car, the loaner car. So we're just doing our best. But we wanted to make sure we were available for customers that really needed help.

spk_0:   2:37
Yeah. I mean that such an important thing, and it's a good thing that you know, how you guys are approaching is great. Um, you know, obviously we working together on some of the marketing. I saw what you guys have put up on Facebook, and I mean, for me, it was very it was share a bowl content, right? And I want you to talk a little bit about what you guys did, but, you know, terrible content. The fact of here are these people doing something, you know, extraordinary. Um, you know, in the face of a really difficult situation and thinking outside the box right there. Just taking a few minutes, Teoh, you know, have a little care and consideration. That really went a long way. You know, I wanted you to kind of share that story, and

spk_1:   3:20
yeah, sure. You know, it was about two weeks ago. I got in the car Monday. That was the first Monday after Governor Phil Murphy had enacted Executive order 107 which was shut down in sales department, basically shut down the show. So I got in the car that Monday morning and I was headed to work, and I had a ticket home used car that night, and I had satellite radio. So I turned on satellite radio. It had two channels. It had the preview channel, which is for radios that are not active. I had had the medical channel, which I thought was interesting, but I turned it on. And, um so they were talking about Cove it and had people calling in and a nurse and just called in when I got in the car and she was talking about how they had a a very dramatic shortage of PPE. They didn't have any gloves and they were trying to figure out how to take care of these patients. And it turned out that she was in Pennsylvania and she was in Allentown, Pennsylvania, which was really close to us. You know, in terms of, you know, our location is probably 1/2 hour, 45 minutes west of the dealership. And, um, you know, I was in the car on my way to work, and it dawned on me that we had a couple cases of gloves at the dealership that the technicians didn't even like they were. They were actually medical gloves that a cleaning company that used to clean the dealership got from this medical office that used to clean the guy didn't like him, so he didn't like it. And he's like, Hey, can you guys use these? So he left a couple of cases of these. There's 200 hairs in each in each case, and they go up the forearm, and that's why I didn't like him. And then the technicians didn't like because they went up the forearm because they were surgical gloves. Um, and they came and match pairs left and right. And there were each Each pair was sealed in its own packaging. Okay, so I'm driving in. I thought won't. These guys don't like him? We supply gloves to our technicians. So I knew we had gloves and farce department. And so I just thought, All right, I'm gonna donate these a minute when I get to work, throw him in a car and have somebody drive out downtown and drop him off. And then I started to realize that it probably would be best if I looked locally, looked in our community first on and tried to help somebody that either new or was impacted in the area. And my cousin Scott's girlfriend is a ah nurse in Beth Israel, which is in Newark. I took both of those cases and got him to him, and he got them into the into Newark and into the hospital. Whether obviously, desperately needed And they we're in a situation already and this is two weeks ago. Yeah, has gotten considerably worse at this point. But two weeks ago, they were issued one pair of gloves for the entire day, right? And they had to, you know, make him last. And, you know, that was just It was awful to hear those types of things, but I was really glad that we could help that that poster we put on Facebook and I even told TJ TJ's who's kind of doing a social from home right now? Um, I said, Listen, I don't want This is not a grandstanding moment. This is not a moment where you say, Hey, look out good. We are. That wasn't the intent what I wanted in the content of the Post, which, which we have in there was. I want all the initiatives to realize that, and most of us do provide close for the technicians that we've got gloves in stock and let's get them to the people who need a Yeah, So and that was really what I was trying toe trying to promote. We boosted it primarily because I wanted other dealerships to see it hopefully and that they would do the same thing. You know? Certainly not trying to brand. We weren't selling anything that I'm not trying to sell anything. I just, um, want somebody else to say Hey, what a great idea. We can do that too,

spk_0:   7:19
right? You're trying to inspire, you know, other people to think this way where, you know, do you have extra stuff? I made me think like, Oh, we just, um you know, we just painted our basement. We have We have masks. Hate do. We saw that extra package like of 10. You know, respirator masks, like, you know, like, even if it's just 10. Okay, that's 10 more than they had before. And they need him, so Ah, definitely. It inspired me. And, you know, hopefully it inspired others to kind of think outside the box and do a little something extra because, you know, that was like I said, it's very terrible for may. I immediately put it onto my social feeds. Um, you know, wanted to show my family, you know what you guys were doing. And hopefully this year, you know?

spk_1:   8:06
Yeah. You know, absolutely. You know, I was telling and, you know, Mallory dealership. But I was telling her that, you know, we're doing this and given these gloves away. And she was telling me about her husband, who's a corrections officer. Oh, and they had They don't have any protective gear there. They're running out of protective gear and states not providing it, and obviously, because they probably don't have access to right now. But she said that his some of his co workers were refusing to go to work because a lot of inmates have been, you know, tested and were positive for cocaine. And, um, you know, they were concerned and they didn't have any protective gear. And they were calling out of work and they were being written up and, you know, So I went down to parts. I'm like, Okay, how many? How many clubs do we have? I mean, I wanna make better than her husband. At least has got gloves. And maybe you could give a couple boxes to his buddies. So I sent her home with a bunch of clothes, and then she was asking about the seat covers that we used in the drive. And he her husband drives inmates in the van, apparently when they need to go to the hospital. So he's going to the hospital. And he was He was hoping that, you know, they could at least find out where we get these seat covers wrong. So he could put the cover down for the Emmy, Got in in the band. And after we could take it out so that if he was had somebody else in the car, there wouldn't be any cross contamination. Hopefully so I just walked out of service. Dr. Grabbed the box that was out there was handed this. Just take this moment to please. Yeah, yeah, no. I'll figure out where we buy them from and see if we can still get him.

spk_0:   9:46
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. That's it's good thinking. Not even something that I would have considered. But it's interesting how much you know our lives have changed in just, you know, three weeks where now you have to consider, You know who sat in that seat before us. And you know who touched what and when and how you sneeze and how you cough and how far away you are from people. And, um, it's ah, life Israel different right now. Yeah,

spk_1:   10:13
yeah, yeah. You know, I'm convinced it's going to change, probably forever mean certain things, they're going to be different going forward. And you know, it's global. So I mean, I think all that societies are going to change a little bit as a result. Yeah, And you and I were just talking about this before, but I think what we're gonna see is a change in this digital retailing tool that that most dealership websites already have, but haven't really utilized mean and like we were talking about before, um, we've all talked about this for years that at some point in time, people will buy cars online and we have the tools to do it. I mean, our websites were set up In most cases. Arses set up that way, but people don't do that. They'll go 3/4 of the way through the tool. Maybe they'll raise their trade, and then it gets down to okay, you know, click here feel like credit up. And then and then they call us or they, you know, submitted intimately. They've done most of the research, but I think we'll start to see people following through and handing us a package at the end. It's got a trade estimate, you know, their payments already calculated, cause you can do that online. You know, in the in the tool that we have on our website and then hand it's a neat little package that this is a guy want you have it in stock. Here's my credit app. Here's the payments I want. These are the terms. This is what I'm gonna put down. And we just bundle it up real nice, and they come in to pick up the car.

spk_0:   11:40
Yeah. Yeah, I think, um, this is a transitional moment. Um, for the automotive industry, where we change all marketing from, ah, being right, cause he always always your dealer said I go, my phone's not ringing or the doors not swinging right. Well, it's gonna be a little different now. Um, you're going to see close to 100% of dealers. Move over to that online retailing tool where 99% of the deal is done online. Um, it'll be interesting to see how Carbonneau plays into this, right? Like there their stock reporting. I'm going to be very interested to hear what they do in terms of revenue after this. Um, because they are a bit ahead when it comes to the whole buying your car online thing, for better or for worse. Um, and but dealers are gonna have to make that adjustment, and it's going to be interesting to see how that plays out from a marketing standpoint. I'll tell you, straight up, I'm excited about it. Um, you can use all these e commerce tools and start tracking where a person, uh, did not continue the the sale process. You know what stage, Step seven and their trade appraisal. They got turned off with that, and I can then report that information back to the dealer and say, like, all right, we need to adjust our tree tool to make sure that we're giving fair value for these trades. Etcetera will see a higher completion rate. It's a completely completely different conversation. Then, you know, just looking at Google analytics, you know?

spk_1:   13:19
Yeah. I think you know someone. It's been in the business for a while and been on the show floor for a while with those tools that the types of things that you're talking about we on the show and floor have a hard time discerning exactly where it came. So, you know, somebody will say, Oh, no, it's not the trade. It's fine. I got to go talk to my wife, right? We don't really know, You know, you can ask the Russians, you say, Oh, you know, and we don't do this, thankfully, and BMW world. But if I could do this, would you take the car today, right? Yeah, that's that's not our sales process anyway. But, um, but, you know, there's times where you know the human part of it kind of, you know, cloud ease. Their money's the whole, you know, understanding of where it went wrong. Why didn't buy but online. You're right. You're You can look at that tool and say, All right at the trade appraisal, everybody bales. No. Okay. They don't like the trade number. We can adjust that, or at the credit after it failed. So maybe we gotta put something in that says they don't worry your information safe. This is a secure site and see if that helps tweak it that way. But, um, it's gonna get really interesting. Man. This is definitely gonna change the industry.

spk_0:   14:32
Yeah, Yeah, I had, um it was last Monday. So five days ago, when Phil Murphy said, You know, make sure for dealers you can do online and curbside car sales. So within 20 minutes, phones ring in, everyone's calm. We gotta get a meeting. We got to get on a zoom, We gotta get our marketing up, let's get going. And the dealers who had the e commerce tool where more aggressive And the dealers who didn't ended up pulling back on the gas. And they're like, actually, let's just wait and see. Um, and you know where we're in the middle of so many different things happening, you know, in so many different ways that there's too many variables. It's not a simple a saying, Oh, it's gonna be like Sandy or oh, it's gonna be like cash for clunkers because we don't know what the financial landscapes gonna look like when we get through this and that variable leaves everybody going. I don't know if I want to be aggressive just yet. So the picture is in 100% clear yet, however, one thing one trend is clear, those that have the online retailing tool are being slightly more aggressive. Still apprehensive, but

spk_1:   15:48
slightly I would agree that I think you know, um, Monday after Governor Murphy makes that announcement, I got a text message from you. Yeah, I get one from my new car manager. Get one for my used car manager who happens to be on the showroom floor, like, you know, 50 feet away from me. I gotta get a text message from my wife saying, Hey, look at what they just announced. And, you know, my immediate reaction is OK, well, it's great. That we can only did is clarify what we really already knew. And everyone is trying to do sales online anyway. But all right or, you know, moved to like this this virtual showroom kind of environment. But the reality of the situation is still the same. People are very apprehensive about buying a 50 sixties $80,000 car, right? Right. Now, any car kind card, for that matter right now, when they're furloughed, laid off on unemployment with these constantly changing apex the curb that everybody keeps talking about. You know, now, Governor Murphy saying it's the end of April will be the apex. So where does that leave us? Is it mid? May is an end of May before this is lifted. And if that's the case, people are gonna be out of work for two months, 2.5 months. And, you know, we have sold cars at the dealership that rolled in that were ordered to two months ago when people don't want Right now, I mean, there gonna take him eventually, but they're just like you hold onto it. When this is over, I'll come get my car, you can deliver it to my house and, you know, we're saying, Listen, it's sanitized. We're gonna drop it off the driveway. You could do the paperwork virtually way. Got it. We're gonna send you, Doc. You sign. You could fill it out and you don't leave the car and drive with the keys are like That's okay. I think it's fine now. Don't worry about it. It's you know, we'll get the car eventually. Eso there So I just, you know, And I didn't jump on board when you know, when Governor Murphy came out and I did say it all the guys and sales. Listen, you know, let's see what it looks like Tuesday. You know, let's let's wait until tomorrow and see what kind of leads we get and it will play it by ear, cause I mean so unknown right now. And we really didn't see any kind of uptake on the website we've seen. Obviously, it declined overall traffic to the website because we bring back on our advertising, so that was expected. But but the phones aren't really ringing. Ah, whole lot. There's not a whole lot of movement anywhere. So you know that this thing is just so scared.

spk_0:   18:32
Oh, yeah. I had someone call me, and they were like, Hey, you know that, um, air conditioning and heating company that you were talking to, he's like, you know, that guy wants you toe call him, um, you know, get in touch with them. I was like, OK, no problem. We'll talk to him on the phone for a little bit, and the whole idea of calling it was like, you know, you can do more with your marketing now than you could before by doing these things online and offering free estimates, etcetera and in two seconds having a conversation with them because, oh, you know, we'll do a branding spot. Now is a good time for branding. Nobody wants us in their home, period. So right, he's like, right now will do no business. However, um, you know, Well, yeah, well, brand ourselves and take advantage of the attention that's on TV right now, and that's that.

spk_1:   19:21
Take their top online stuff. That this this right. Really? Because I would imagine he's right. I mean, I don't know this business. I wouldn't call in nature. You see, guy out to tell. Don't clean my ducks right now, are you? Unless I have, you know, complete failure. And I really needed heat or great. Never. I don't want anybody here

spk_0:   19:40
exactly. Yeah, I were the same way. You know, we actually had an interesting experience going to get food. We went to a restaurant that to do their curbside pickup, and they had a computer glitch or something, and they were back ordered, and you could tell they were short staffed And they had, like, they had people all waiting in the like this, like little space was probably eight by 12. And there was, like, I don't know, 12 people in this, like, cramped little space. And I was like, uh, you know, here is my order, like, is it ready there? I call to me like, 45 minutes, and I was like, OK, like I got in the

spk_1:   20:19
car, I want it.

spk_0:   20:20
I was like, Yeah, like I'm not waiting in this small space, but but you could like everybody who was in there was, like, kind of felt uncomfortable. But they wanted to have their normal life. And I think that would be the same way if you had somebody come into your house for something that stay far, far away over there like and just you want to have that normal life and make that Collins I had come in and let's just change out the filters and let's get an estimate for, you know, air for the summer. But no, now, now is not the time, you know.

spk_1:   20:47
Yeah, definitely not. And, you know, at the dealership, we've all we've been going back and forth like, you know, one day I'm, like, you know, I don't think it's this Just like three weeks ago. It's a You know, I don't think this is gonna be that bad. And I think, you know, we're gonna be OK here. We're going to shelter in place, and and then the next day, I come to work in I'm like, Oh, my God. I watched news last night. This terrible. We're gonna close, right? Yeah. I mean, there's just so much unknown in this whole thing. Yeah, Yeah, it Isett. And, you know, I was telling somebody probably for the last couple weeks driving to work. And I'm not going to say I'm a crazy driver. I'm probably a little fast in three speed. I only drive at, but I think I'm a very good driver. Let's look, let's start there. But, um, I'm driving very cautiously. I'm driving slow. Yeah, because the last thing I want right now is to be in the hospital. Yeah, and everything I do. I'm very consciously aware of the fact that I don't get hurt and I don't want to end up in the hospital for any reason whatsoever. Yeah, it's in one place I would not want to be.

spk_0:   21:56
Yeah, my sister in law had her baby early like they like. It was just happened. She went into labor three weeks early, but she was due last Friday. So, like, right when this thing, like, kicked off, that's when she was actually do. And they're like, Thank God that he became early because they weren't letting people in for Labour like you did it on your own during the recovery process, there were no visitors, like, you know, for all those new moms, like what a difficult thing to have to go through in all those families with a difficult thing to have to go through and even, like, right now, like, you know, we were helping them out, But we were talking the other day. I'm like, I don't know if it's a good idea if we're together, even though we're not seeing anyone and it's just the four of us, like or five with the little one. How Just in case I don't think we should like, I think we gotta

spk_1:   22:48
stay. Separate this, You know, the 14 day incubation period, right? I mean, you could be totally fine or even the fact that you might be asymptomatic. You have no idea that you're carrying it.

spk_0:   23:01
Yeah. Did you hear? Um, did you hear anything about what they're thinking about doing for the MBA now? So the season is was suspended. Um, and it was close to the end of the regular season anyway, so they were going into the playoffs. Ah, there. Maybe, like 12 games away from the playoffs kicking off. And what they're talking about now is saying Okay, forget the last 12 games. We're gonna skip right to the playoffs. We're going to condense it down. We're gonna bring all the players, all their doctors, all their staff, everyone to a campus in Las Vegas. They're going to test everyone before they go in. They're going to have the place completely sanitized and their basic gonna make it like the entire N b A playoffs would happen on this one campus.

spk_1:   23:50
Nobody and nobody out.

spk_0:   23:51
Nobody in nobody out knows fans. One court games every other day and, like limited interactions. Now there's a whole lot that has to be done before they get there. But I've heard that's what they're discussing.

spk_1:   24:06
That's cool. That's cool. Yeah. Yeah, it would

spk_0:   24:09
be interesting in it, man. It would be nice to have some sports back. Like, you know, I'm a big basketball fan, but even, like, even just like, okay, baseball season would be starting, right, You know, right around the corner. And opening day was last week or whatever should have been last week, right? Like, you know,

spk_1:   24:25
at a time like this, when everybody's home. Yeah. You know, I did not have sports as well. Is is tough for a lot of people, I'm sure.

spk_0:   24:33
Yeah, yeah, for sure. But, um um Well,

spk_1:   24:39
where do we want toe? Where do

spk_0:   24:40
we want to go next? With with, uh, with our conversation,

spk_1:   24:44
We, uh we are on audio. Our auto wish. Dammit, I was gonna do that. Uh um, So you know, now that I said that which probably also shot Shout out the audio podcast channel as well. Um, but we could do, um, you know, another episode or another segment on the worst car ever made. There's so many of them.

spk_0:   25:08
Yes, yes. Um, So I think when we talk about worst cars ever

spk_1:   25:16
Yeah, they can't. I was going to say this one's yours because I had last one.

spk_0:   25:19
All right? I can't think of a worse car. Ah. Then the PT Cruiser.

spk_1:   25:24
Oh, yes. Oh, that's a good one, man.

spk_0:   25:27
Yeah. So a personal ah, story here. Um, my cousin had a PT cruiser. It was his mom's story already. Yeah, when she got rid of it, he took it on, and it was his high school car. And, um, all of his friends called it the PT

spk_1:   25:54
loser s. I was just gonna ask that. Did he actually like it? I mean, it was gifted to him, so But, I mean, was he like, Yeah, it's my car's cool. No, no, I believe it was yellow if it was Oh, God, Yeah. If it was, his first car had to be some affection for

spk_0:   26:15
I may be, but I think he was like, TV

spk_1:   26:17
about today and said, Hey, did you really hate that card deep down inside, did you really love that yellow

spk_0:   26:24
PTO? I'm gonna ask him Next time I see him, I get an answer. Yeah, it's, um but from a styling standpoint, what in odd odd car it had those, um, like these big fenders that popped out like one of those, like old panel trucks from like, the forties.

spk_1:   26:46
Oh, yeah. It was definitely, like a retro attempt, right?

spk_0:   26:51
Um, and then that, like pointed grill in the front with the Chrysler logo. And let's just face it, the Chrysler logo is not good. So, like, you know, you you got the Criswell over sitting on top of that grill and, um, just just terrible and

spk_1:   27:10
that on bad,

spk_0:   27:11
bad on that. And I'm not a specks guy when it comes to car. I don't know what the horsepower is. I'm sure it was terrible. Is 52 50. I mean, you know, I guess, I guess respectable. But one of the things I love reading, just like if it was a bad movie. I like to read the reviews from time to time.

spk_1:   27:32
Oh, I love to hear.

spk_0:   27:34
And so this review really stood out. Titled Horrible Car. This is the worst car I have ever owned. Ah, it looks at multiple categories comfort, interior design, performance value for the money, reliability, an exterior styling. This person gave it one star across the board.

spk_1:   27:59
They're there. Any comments under that? Because if I was gonna comment. I would say you bought it.

spk_0:   28:06
That's true. Yeah. Knows

spk_1:   28:09
that because the exterior styling was there when you were at the dealership.

spk_0:   28:13
That's true. That's true that your life and

spk_1:   28:16
I gave it a one. So what? What?

spk_0:   28:18
That's true. Um, where do I begin? Um, let's see, where do I begin? I start with having consistent problems with the air conditioning, and when you live in Florida and you're a senior citizen, that's a pretty big deal. I'm actually afraid to go anywhere, Which is kind of it's just kind of a funny idea. Just I don't like I just bought this car. I'm afraid to go

spk_1:   28:44
in and have a car, but I don't Yeah, yeah, I don't want to drive it.

spk_0:   28:47
I am an edge of the review just ends with. I am now on a first name basis with the Triple A guy. That's how many times I've been towed. Um, you know, I mean, that's that's Ah pretty stellar review there, and that's relatively recent. I wonder if that person bought it pre owned. Which poor decision? Yeah, well, hey, on the bright side, you can get one cars dot com says you can get one for 1600 bucks.

spk_1:   29:14
I think that's bad money spent.

spk_0:   29:18
I don't know. That might be your Christmas present. Oh, thanks. Yeah. Um, another review here. What a loser. Piece of junk car. That's

spk_1:   29:29
it. It sums it up that I mean, I think you know that that person had continued on it probably would have been way worse.

spk_0:   29:38
Yeah, Another review. Do not buy this accident waiting to happen. I've replaced the windshield twice. That's odd. On the spoiler in the front is useless. The mileage is horrible. It isn't even comfortable in the front or the back. No stars.

spk_1:   29:56
Now, I've yet I've heard that the mileage is really bad. I don't I really don't remember. I do. I don't remember what it is, but I do remember when that car came out the car magazines talking about how terrible the the fuel economy was right. But I believe it was in a light truck category for some reason. And I think that helped Chrysler with her calf standards. And I said, You know what? I'm on my online right now. Just kind of seeing if I could find a

spk_0:   30:27
well, the interesting thing about this review is that of all the things this person decided to review, the windshield makes an appearance as if that's really the manufacturer's fault. I mean, you had to replace the windshield twice. I mean,

spk_1:   30:43
yeah, I don't think that doesn't help, because it was a E i o I take that back, man. I'm sorry. It's not 215 horse powers that PT cruiser Jeanty. Oh, it is on Wikipedia Here. Is that this is also it says is a high output turbocharged hot hatch. Very. Oh, God, that's awesome. And hold on. Let me let me find your real stats.

spk_0:   31:14
Yeah, hit me. You know, it's all good.

spk_1:   31:17
No, it's See here. 180 horsepower. All right, so the turbo charged it and they got another 35 horseback. Super. Wow.

spk_0:   31:29
Let's see if we can find a low mileage one here. We'll hear the little guy.

spk_1:   31:39
Oh, yeah? Yeah. Uh, you just woke up. Oh, here we

spk_0:   31:42
go. We got a PT Cruiser GT convertible four.

spk_1:   31:47
That's gotta be worth at least 2800 0

spk_0:   31:51
you almost know that. 29

spk_1:   31:53
20 0 damn. I was sure you

spk_0:   31:56
could negotiate it. It's like a cream white color. And, jeez, Thea, back lights interesting are on that little fender that juts out. So, like your back brake light and blinker are actually on the fender. And if you look the trunk looks like a Hearst trunk. I guess

spk_1:   32:16
it opens up.

spk_0:   32:17
I'd have to, like, find a video, which that's not worth doing, but

spk_1:   32:20
well, I'm look yet, huh? I'm looking here, and it's called a five more. So yeah, I'm going to say the reruns of his ATCH. I'm not as familiar with the card. I'm sorry, but what? Yeah, I do have a couple of pictures up here on Wikipedia, and it's and just but

spk_0:   32:40
yeah, and Chevy actually had a car, and I don't remember the name of it, but it was very similar to the PT Cruiser. Um, and I've actually I noticed that those air still on the road like a good amount.

spk_1:   32:56
It was it a pickup truck looking thing, or was it a Yeah, Yeah, I'm a man. I'm drawing a blank. I know exactly which one you're talking about that. But, man, I just had a great idea for segment. Get me. You go on cars dot com and you look for random cars, and then you ask me what I think they're worth. Oh, it's a great

spk_0:   33:15
idea. I'm in. I'm

spk_1:   33:17
totally. But it's got to be, like, somewhat obscure kind of stuff. And then I'll ask you stuff, like, how many miles have okay, just random stuff.

spk_0:   33:27
Okay, I'm down with that. The Chevy is the h h r s s Yeah, yeah, and it's. And I noticed those on the road a decent amount cause they do have a lot of trunk space. So you do see them kind of used as trucks, right from time to time. Um,

spk_1:   33:46
I just had another idea for a segment, but I don't think I'm is good at this as I used to be. So, um, when when Amy and I first started living together, we lived in an apartment in Bloomfield, right off a Bloomfield Avenue, and we had off street parking, and actually, I take that back. Most of this street was lined with cars and we parked on the street, but, um, in the summertime, we would have the windows open, And when a car started out on the street, I would say Honda. Oh, yeah, I tell you. Or Ford and Amy would look at the limit. My God. How did you do that?

spk_0:   34:27
Just for Mad Lights.

spk_1:   34:28
Yeah, just yet. We'll know from the engine and the starter sound. Oh, just run. Sounds like I would never see the car. Oh, yeah, I'd be on the couch or laying in bed and be like, OK for, um, whatever for contraband. That's impressive, Honda. And it was hard to discern Honda's by model, although sometimes it can kind of pick it out. And I I didn't know I had that, you know, if you want to call it that, you know, um, but what had happened is used to go to the auctions so much and years ago, you used to be able to go start every car before the auction. The ranch. You could see Barack Check Angela, make sure it started on its own. Make sure didn't need anything. And sometimes we'd actually drive. We'd be there, like 56 oclock in the morning, right? My cousin and I and we would go through all we do probably 300 cars every morning before the options started. And for years and years. We did that. Then I'm, you know, laying in bed one morning and a car starts on the street and I go on and he's like, looks out the window goes How did you know that? But I'm not sure yet. And then, you know, like the next car starts my Yeah, Toyota for sure. That's pretty good money stuff. Yeah. Yeah, that's good. Did that for a long time. Yeah. I don't know if I could still do that, because suspense, it's been probably 15 years since I was consistently at the auction, but yep, every car has a very unique sound. Starter sounds very different. Exhaust the engine. I mean, all that. It's a very unique teach model. Or at least brand for the most.

spk_0:   36:07
Yeah, that's definitely true.

spk_1:   36:09
Yeah, but I like I like the segment about what a car is work. But, you know, I think it would be, you know, um what was that? The neuronal convertible. Yeah, you were talking about it's

spk_0:   36:21
GT, the PT Cruiser GT convertible, front wheel drive. And you had it within 100 bucks. I mean, without even giving you the miles you had it.

spk_1:   36:30
That was above here a gas man, and that probably cause you said 1600 for a base one. And I'm like, OK, sort little more.

spk_0:   36:36
Right? Right. Um, we should wrap on one more review. Okay, um, this person bought a 2006 PT Cruiser and rights. This car has steered me from ever, ever purchasing a Chrysler again bought the car. Needed a passenger motor Mount control arm, Water pump dimming. Um, I'm sorry. Timing belt, drum brakes. She

spk_1:   37:08
owns race. Oh, my God.

spk_0:   37:10
Tyrod thermostat camp seal valve cover spark plugs. This is all the work that needs to be done. When he bought it, I'm assuming pre owned again. Oh, my goodness.

spk_1:   37:22
That's that's kind. All after the bats are that you bought used, but

spk_0:   37:27
yeah, and then at the end, he just writes, I want to blow this piece of shit up. I kind of I'm with it.

spk_1:   37:36
Yeah, but you know, once again, I'm sorry to disparage this guy in any way, but he bought it, right? Exactly. I mean, it's not a great car divided. Begin with if you've done any. I mean, how long did it take you to look online to see, it was not a good card by

spk_0:   37:52
Yeah, I mean, it was pretty. Let's see. What? The oldest review. Somebody who bought it new And what here? Somebody who bought it new and still doesn't gave it a one star back in 2004. Um, just basically they have problems all over the car. Recalls Highway Safety administration notices, Um, rough car, rough looking, rough reliability. But actually, you know what? We shouldn't end on a negative note with a negative review. Let's do one. Kind of ended up on a positive note.

spk_1:   38:31
There's gotta be something good about

spk_0:   38:33
Yeah, I think this guy, his name is boosted burrito and he is on instagram. He took his PT cruiser, and he made it a sleeper car. He, um

spk_1:   38:45
down with that man.

spk_0:   38:46
It's my Oh, yeah, it actually looks haunting. It is. Um, it's murdered out Black on black on black It is. Got a matte finish for the paint. Cool. Completely tinted.

spk_1:   39:00
Making me want to look this guy's car up.

spk_0:   39:02
Yeah, boosted underscore burrito on instagram. Um, and let's see if he has any of hiss stats here. Basically, he just made a sleeper car. He turned his car into, Uh,

spk_1:   39:18
yeah, but a sleeper miss that. It's got some. It's got some juice under the hood. Yes. Is it? Just look cool, because that's not a

spk_0:   39:26
Let's see here. He's got it up to Well, I mean, sleeper for this car, I guess. Um, he has a 2.4 liter turbo four cylinder that he got out of a Dodge Neon SRT four. Okay, way might be onto something. Let's see here. Um turbocharged, pushing £36 of boost. Alright, He's serious. Upgraded few system, um, to accommodate the 2.4 leader for the new fueling needs. And let's see upgrade included a 2000 cc injector feeding the engine. A steady diet of E 85. Mike would've e 80

spk_1:   40:16
five. Okay, so e 85 is ethanol. It's 85% ethanol, which actually right out of the pump, which you can buy in New Jersey. We combined. It's it's it's a little hard to find. I go to the Newark airport, where there's a gas station outside of the airport that that has a bunch of E 85 pumps, and 85 is referred to this flex fuel as well. So a lot of the buses that run that run the loops around the airport. They run 85. So it's 105 octane. And what we do is what a lot of people do is. You mix it with 93 which would get here in Jersey, and you can end up with 100 octane mix. Um, pretty easily. And believe it or not, 85 is cheaper than gasoline. It's made from corn, so they produce the ethanol from corn. And it's good for experiment. More optimism or that more boost. You can run the cooler. The engine runs more timing. You can run. It just all means more power.

spk_0:   41:27
Nice. Very cold. Um, this car gets up to 808

spk_1:   41:32
horsepower. Okay, That's a sleeper. Dude that qualifies. I'm with him. He's

spk_0:   41:38
and it actually hit on its previous tune. Um, 165 miles per hour, making it the fastest PT cruiser in the

spk_1:   41:47
world. Oh, dude, I'm on instagram checking this out. This car's for real. Yeah. I mean, he's got drag slicks on the front. Yeah, it

spk_0:   41:55
was pretty cool. Use

spk_1:   41:56
that messenger. Now. This is a This is a sleeper. Yeah. This guy qualifies.

spk_0:   42:01
This is pretty cool.

spk_1:   42:03
All right, so there is a There is a really PT cruiser out there, and it's

spk_0:   42:08
yes, only one

spk_1:   42:09
is worth talking. So we will end the PT Cruiser on a good note, but yes, this guy put way more money into the car, then the car was working on his brain.

spk_0:   42:19
Yeah. Yeah, big time. Lots of work there. Um, So is there anything else you'd like to add before we wrap up for for today's episode?

spk_1:   42:29
