Day 19: Exodus 32-36

In this episode of Reading Through the Bible Together, we’re reading Exodus 32–36, where Israel collapses under the weight of freedom, and God shows the world what mercy looks like.
While Moses is on the mountain, the people build a golden calf, trying to put God on their terms. The result is chaos, judgment, and a shattered covenant. But the heart of these chapters is not just Israel’s failure. It’s the Lord’s relentless faithfulness. Moses intercedes. God reveals His name and His glory. And what should have ended in abandonment becomes a new beginning: the covenant is renewed, God’s presence is promised, and worship is restored.
Then the story turns from rebellion to rebuilding. The tabernacle work begins, not as a way to earn God back, but as the fruit of grace. God is making a way to dwell with a people who do not deserve Him, and that points straight to Christ, the Mediator who stands in the gap and brings sinners home.
