Ascension Sunday
In many parts of Europe—including Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and France—Ascension Thursday is still recognized as a public holiday and day off work. Too bad for us!
The ascension is often overlooked—and yet the early church viewed it as absolutely essential. Why does Jesus ascend? What does it mean that He is seated at the right hand of God? And why did the disciples respond to His departure not with sadness, but with joy?
