So, There I Am...
This is Travis Jay Vernon and Welcome! to the So There I Am... Podcast. I have been spending time in the outdoors since I could walk. I started out catching frogs and insects, and then hunting with everything from a BB gun and archery gear, to chasing big game with a rifle. I have been an avid fisherman everywhere I have lived and traveled. Cooking, foraging, fishing, and hunting have been a driving force for me. The only thing I am more passionate about than these things is sharing them with others and teaching those who want to learn. Along the way I have told, heard, and lived different stories.Stories told well allow a listener to live vicariously, reminisce of past experiences, or even dream of adventures to come. I will be sharing stories with you from my own experiences as a fly-fishing guide, retail manager, outdoor enthusiast, traveler, explorer and just everyday life. There will be stories from guests and stories from friends and others in different locales and varied walks of life. Every day is an opportunity for new adventures and expanding your own story. Let’s get to the stories! So, there I am…

Show Notes:
Nancy and I just recently returned home from our 10th anniversary trip to North Carolina. We fished at some great places and had an amazing time visiting with friends and exploring a place we had not been to yet.
We stayed in Maggie Valley near Asheville and had a wonderful time fly fishing in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, some local waters, and the Cherokee Nation. We both caught our first Southern Appalachian brook trout. It was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend going out and fishing around Asheville!
The guys at the Rivers Edge Outfitters shop got us all set up to fish around Cherokee.
The team at Tuckaseegee Fly Shop (Tuck Fly Shop) were also outstanding and gave Nancy and I all the info we needed. Remember to always buy stuff when getting information at fly shops. I tend to get a dozen flies and some local fly shop stickers!
Feel free to reach out when you have questions about my gear or items. I will be honest with a good, bad, or ugly review. Again, my way isn’t the only way. Lots of companies make great gear. I use what I like to use. I change if I think something is better. I just want to have the best chance to succeed in the jobs and hobbies I love. Thank you for letting me be a part of your listening and watching.
If you are enjoying the stories and the podcast, I would really appreciate a 5 star review and please subscribe so you don’t miss an episode.
I would love to connect with you all at Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube!
Thank you and go live your stories!
