149_Maui Food Guide - Part 2
[00:00:00] Bryan Murphy: In this episode, you'll discover Maui's best local spots to eat on the South shore and west side, including Laina. You also discover which recently reopened restaurants are ready for visitors and the hidden food truck spots in KeHE. Many people Miss.
[00:00:18] Bryan Murphy: Aloha, and welcome to Hawaii's Best. The podcast helping Travelers Plan an unforgettable Hawaii vacation with insider tips in featuring local voices. I'm Brian Murphy, a husband dad of three, and certified Hawaii destination expert. Each week I share local insights, travel tips, and up-to-date news.
[00:00:37] Bryan Murphy: Sometimes with guests across Hawaii and sometimes solo, all to help you plan your next trip to Hawaii.
[00:00:47] Bryan Murphy: Welcome to Hawaii's Best on the show. We love learning from local businesses and local voices and helping to travel with aloha. And today I'm thrilled to continue in part two of our Maui FU guide. And welcome back Lisa Pierce, A long time Maui resident. And creator of the popular blog, a Maui blog in part two of our conversation about the best Maui food guide.
[00:01:12] Bryan Murphy: She's gonna talk about the South shore, Maui, and the west side, including Laina. Now many visitors make the mistake of limiting their Maui dining experience to only hotel, restaurants, or just popular spots. And many people miss the authentic flavors that locals love. And by the end of this episode, you'll know exactly where to go for the best local eats on Maui, south Shore and West side.
[00:01:38] Bryan Murphy: From Ki Hay's Food Trucks to reopen restaurants in La Hana. You also learn how by visiting these spots, they go to support the local community as they continue to rebuild. If you miss part one, I'll link it in the show notes below, so be sure to listen to that episode after this one. For North Shore in Central Maui spots.
[00:01:58] Bryan Murphy: Alright, let's go ahead and let's talk story with Lisa.
[00:02:10] Bryan Murphy: Alright. Last time we were North Shore, we had some amazing sushi at nca. Yep. And now it's time to make your way. Back, south Shore, west side, take us out on North Shore and, and down south.
[00:02:27] Liza Pierce: Down south. Okay. Where, that's where I live. So I live in Kihei and yeah, it's great place to live. A lot of nice beaches, but a lot of places to eat and enjoy the local food.
[00:02:38] Liza Pierce: Awesome. So where do we start? Let's start with Nalu.
[00:02:43] Bryan Murphy: Oh yeah,
[00:02:44] Liza Pierce: yeah. Nalu is in a seccas place and they serve breakfast. Lunch, lunch and dinner. So you know, wherever, whenever you're available you can try it. But great food. They have this Sead AHI sandwich that is like super popular, but when I go there, I order this fish with lily COI dressing or sauce on this.
[00:03:11] Liza Pierce: It is so good. They have also like a local music sometimes, you know, Friday night, Saturday night, it's an open place. It's not air conditioned, it's open air. Go there for breakfast. Acai Bowl is very popular with them. Okay, so Nalu, and then the next one is The Kitchen. You remember The Kitchen was very, very popular.
[00:03:36] Liza Pierce: They used to have two places, one in Rainbow Mall. One in Kaulu. During Covid, they actually really got affected. You know, they closed their Rainbow Mall place and then eventually they also closed their Kaulu. So for some time we didn't have the kitchen, but they came back. So now they are on this little corner place next to Longs.
[00:04:07] Liza Pierce: Oh, okay. And they have the same good food. People are just starting to discover them that they're there now and they have, you know, the popular Chicken kasu, teriyaki chicken. They have the noodles also, and they have the Fried Spa Musee. Spam Musubi and then Interesting. Yeah,
[00:04:28] Bryan Murphy: I haven't had fried spam mu.
[00:04:30] Bryan Murphy: Yeah, it's not very
[00:04:31] Liza Pierce: healthy, but
[00:04:32] Bryan Murphy: Oh yeah. I mean it's really good.
[00:04:33] Liza Pierce: So you can indulge in it every now and then. Not on a regular basis. They're super popular before. And so now I just wanna mention that they're bath, they have big portion. That's one thing about the kitchen. You know, their local plate lunches, they have huge portion that when my husband and I go there, we can actually split one.
[00:04:54] Liza Pierce: Plate lunch for both of us, and we're still full after we eat it. So yeah, so it's at the corner next to Long's in KeHE. And then another popular place to eat here is KeHE Cafe. KeHE Cafe. The original place is in front of the Kalama Park in KeHE. It used to be the, the line so, so long that you have to go there very early in the morning to be able to get a seat and you stay in line.
[00:05:24] Liza Pierce: It's a little kind of old place and they have some outside seating, but it's limited.
[00:05:29] Stick Figure - Music: Hmm.
[00:05:30] Liza Pierce: But their food is so good. Also, big portion Macadamian at Pancake or their fried rice. So people go there, word of mouth. They're very popular. The good news is that they open another location in KI as well.
[00:05:47] Stick Figure - Music: Oh, okay.
[00:05:47] Liza Pierce: So if you go to the original location, the live is long, you have an option, go to the next location, which is at Maui Coast Hotel. So they have an open area placed there, and so they're more seeking. But saying good food and so you just, yeah, it's just a block away, you know, a couple blocks away from the original place.
[00:06:07] Liza Pierce: So yeah. KeHE Cafe, another good one is Coconuts. Coconuts and their specialty, or their popular for their fish tacos, which is not the usual taco, not the usual Mexican taco that you would expect. Okay. This one's got mangoes. Nice.
[00:06:27] Stick Figure - Music: Yeah, of course.
[00:06:28] Liza Pierce: And this like unique flavor. So either you like it or you don't.
[00:06:32] Liza Pierce: But I love it. Like this is not like the usual taco I would expect. But they're very popular. They have in, I think they've been number one recommended in TripAdvisor or Yelp. I can't remember which one. They also have two locations in KeHE, one in Aki, and then one in front of Kama Oles, Kama Ole Sun Shopping Center, I think is the name of the place, but in front of Kama Ole Beach too.
[00:07:00] Liza Pierce: They're on the second floor and yeah, go try that food. Convenient. I think they only serve lunch and dinner. I'm not sure. I don't think they serve breakfast.
[00:07:09] Bryan Murphy: And the cafe, the one you mentioned prior is, is good for breakfast? Yeah. Like people are looking for a good breakfast spot. Yeah, the
[00:07:15] Liza Pierce: cafe is breakfast.
[00:07:17] Liza Pierce: That's their specialty is KeHE. Cafe Specialties breakfast and then, you know, lunch, I'm not sure. I think the Maui coast once now serve dinner. The original spot don't serve dinner. Oh,
[00:07:30] Bryan Murphy: okay.
[00:07:30] Liza Pierce: I think the Maui coast might be serving dinner now because you know they're in that hotel. Yeah. So, but double check on that one.
[00:07:38] Liza Pierce: Okay, so now there's this best kept secret in Kihei, which is not really a best kept secret anymore because people started talking about it, but it is. Called South Maui Gardens.
[00:07:52] Stick Figure - Music: Oh, okay. Yeah.
[00:07:53] Liza Pierce: And in South Maui Gardens there is a section there that's called Kihei Food Oasis. And what it is, is it's part of many different food trucks that serve really good food.
[00:08:06] Liza Pierce: So the South Maui Gardens is why you call it the best kept secret is because you never know that it's got this whole thing inside that block of area from the outside. It's just the usual kind of like, you know, there's some plants building you'll pass by it without knowing about it. But now they have a side, they have this blue old car in front.
[00:08:29] Liza Pierce: So, you know, you won't miss it. And they have a big parking lot. Again, that's, you know, always a plus. When they have a parking lot, you don't have to go drive around looking for places to park, but inside them. So they have the food Oasis food truck on one side, but on the other side they have sit down like real like bakery.
[00:08:49] Liza Pierce: Mm Keto bakery. Food place. It's a gourmet. This is the most gourmet food truck you'll find, and it's in the place. It's like four star kind hotel food. Okay. But it's in this section in South Maui Gardens, and then they have coffee shop, so they're open also breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Okay. You just have to go on.
[00:09:12] Liza Pierce: The other section is more of breakfast. The other section is more lunch and dinner. But you can roam around. It's a beautiful place. It's got gardens, a lot of places to sit down, and it's so peaceful in there. You can bring your kids, you can even bring your dog. And then also they have a section where now you can do weddings because it's a beautiful garden.
[00:09:34] Stick Figure - Music: Yeah. Okay.
[00:09:34] Liza Pierce: So you can do weddings there. It's a wedding venue now, and also they started doing hula show.
[00:09:42] Bryan Murphy: That's cool.
[00:09:42] Liza Pierce: So it's an economical hula show. If you don't wanna spend too much money on a hula show. This is an alternative that they have this great hula show, but it doesn't come with food. So now you go there and you just buy your own food before the show.
[00:09:59] Liza Pierce: Oh, I love that. From their food trucks. Yeah. Yeah. The show starts and you're there watching the show.
[00:10:04] Bryan Murphy: That's great.
[00:10:05] Liza Pierce: So yeah, it's, it's a great, yeah, it's a great place. So people should check on that.
[00:10:10] Bryan Murphy: It's near Kalama Park. Yeah,
[00:10:11] Liza Pierce: it's, yep, it's across from Kalama Park. Okay. And it's gonna behind, um, KeHE Church Building.
[00:10:19] Liza Pierce: And speaking of food trucks, I should also mention the original food truck pod that people go to behind a. So there is also a section there with a lot of good food. They have Kraken coffee in there. They have vids Filipino food. I love Filipino food. They have there they have Maui Burger. Yeah, it's called I think Maui Food Trucks in, yeah, that's the name.
[00:10:46] Liza Pierce: Yeah. But it's behind a sec. You won't miss it 'cause they have a section there. It's easy to find. Kind of close to longs also. So yeah, we have a great food truck scene. And one more food truck place actually is next to South Maui Gardens. The Kihei Food Oasis is in Ale Road. It started in one Happy Belly food truck, and then Ki Fish started and now it's like there too.
[00:11:14] Liza Pierce: Now when you go. You only, you don't only go to one food truck pod, you get two food truck pods. 'cause they're side by side next to each other. Gotcha. Okay.
[00:11:26] Bryan Murphy: Yeah.
[00:11:26] Liza Pierce: So yeah, they have this ice cream food trap that's made from natural fruit that you'll find there. So that's a good dessert after you finish all your food from different food trucks.
[00:11:38] Bryan Murphy: So, where you're at, you, you mentioned your KeHE area. Uhhuh. Well, is there, I know we're talking about, you know, we're locals eat and, but is there a spot where you like to go? Like, like Mama's Fish house, you know, you go Yes. To celebrate. Like is there a spot or two around here that you, that you would go to to like, you know, splurge a little bit?
[00:11:59] Liza Pierce: Yes, definitely. You know, there are a lot, but I'll mention some of my favorite. One of them is Cole Restaurant in Fairmont Lan, and I love it because it's fine dining, but they also specialize in like the fish dish. It has the cultural component. Okay. On their, the menu. But it's high end. It's the hotel.
[00:12:24] Liza Pierce: It's similar to Mama's Fish House. You know, and so special location, that's where we go cold. You know, also, monkey Pot is a pop popular phrase. I love
[00:12:35] Bryan Murphy: monkey pot.
[00:12:36] Liza Pierce: Yeah, monkey pot. Of course you gotta have the Lico ma Thai, right?
[00:12:40] Bryan Murphy: Of course. And then sometimes we'll do the Noko O. It's like a ocean vodka drink.
[00:12:45] Bryan Murphy: It's good. Yeah. We like the Bool Gee tacos there.
[00:12:48] Liza Pierce: Yeah, the tacos, you go to happy hour. Oh yeah. You get, you know, half off, I think, or something like that. It's,
[00:12:54] Bryan Murphy: it's a pretty good happy hour. Yeah, yeah,
[00:12:56] Liza Pierce: yeah. And then, but their dinner is always full, also res, you have to make reservation. But we go there also for some special occasion.
[00:13:04] Liza Pierce: Well, those are the two places that we usually Okay. Frequent to when? When we're talking like, you know, sit down special dinner, but I'm sure there are other places, you know? Yeah.
[00:13:14] Bryan Murphy: So that's KeHE. Great spot there. We've had a few people in KeHE on the podcast from. Ellie from Tutu Pantry, Maui Brewing Company, and also Pizza Madness.
[00:13:27] Bryan Murphy: And part of that crew that was on a year and a half ago was in response to the Lahaina fires and how people can, at that time, you know, tangibly support via Venmo and stuff like that, and supporting local. And then now that. Parts of Lana have reopened. We're heading over to Lana now. I, I want to just hear before we jump, jump into some of the, the spots that are open now, what is the sentiment like visiting West Side in Lana and what should visitors know?
[00:14:01] Bryan Murphy: What should visitors expect when visiting?
[00:14:04] Liza Pierce: So as always, the main theme or the main kinda reminder that we always say is be respectful. And what that is, is, you know, you just don't go to places that you're not supposed to go, like Front Street, you just don't go and kind of started observing out there.
[00:14:22] Liza Pierce: When it's blocked that says, you know, do not go in. Mm-hmm. And also, you know, just with the, the people, I would expect that, you know, you just don't keep on asking them about, you know, the, the fire, you know, they, some of them are still sensitive about it. Mm-hmm. So, you know, just enjoy and see what you can support, how you can support them.
[00:14:42] Liza Pierce: But yeah, the restaurants are opening up and actually there are restaurants on the, the side of Front Street where they did not have the fire.
[00:14:51] Stick Figure - Music: Okay.
[00:14:51] Liza Pierce: Starting from the old LA wall. And then there's a row of different restaurants there that we'll mention and share that they're open and, you know, people are needing jobs and they need, they need, you know, the businesses need.
[00:15:06] Liza Pierce: To survive and so we. We welcome visitors just as long as they're respectful. The interesting thing is when in my blog I talk about this.
[00:15:15] Bryan Murphy: Hmm.
[00:15:15] Liza Pierce: And there's one comment I got that said, you don't have to tell us to be respectful. We are already. Hmm. It's kind of like, you know, it's like, it's just a reminder.
[00:15:24] Liza Pierce: Yeah. We're. Saying that they are not, but it's good to have that aloha. It could be a different culture, you know? And so it's just a reminder of that there is a culture here wherein, you know, you just don't be entitled.
[00:15:39] Stick Figure - Music: Mm-hmm.
[00:15:40] Liza Pierce: You know, the attitude. It's the attitude that, you know, it's not the attitude of, oh, I coming here to spend money and, you know, we should be, you know, kind of treated like, you know, we're, we're entitled.
[00:15:51] Liza Pierce: Mm-hmm. It shouldn't be that way. Should become with Aloha and you know, we're, you're sharing the place, enjoying Maui. And just have the aloha spirit with the people.
[00:16:01] Bryan Murphy: Okay. Yeah. It's always a great reminder, you know? Yeah, yeah,
[00:16:05] Liza Pierce: yeah. So we don't want people to think that we're saying that people who are coming here are not respectful, but it's always a good reminder Yeah.
[00:16:11] Liza Pierce: To say that.
[00:16:12] Bryan Murphy: Absolutely.
[00:16:13] Liza Pierce: Yeah.
[00:16:14] Bryan Murphy: Let's eat.
[00:16:15] Liza Pierce: Okay, so let's, let's start before we go down to loa, that will be our finale is, let's go to KA first. Alright. So there are restaurants that are popular. Both visitors and local, and these are the restaurants that are owned by TNS restaurants, and if I mention the name, I'm sure most of you are already familiar with it.
[00:16:37] Liza Pierce: They are Hula Grill, Leilani or Duke, and they're known for their fish dish, fish tacos. You know the macadamia, not crusted fish. They also have the, the Maui beef. You know that if you're not into fish, they have beef and chicken dishes, but they are really good. They are at Whaler Village, the P Grill and Leilani's.
[00:17:04] Liza Pierce: Village, which is, you know, the, the place itself. Explore, but the location of the restaurants are on the beach side, so you have that beautiful scenery while you're eating your dinner or lunch. You have lunch and dinner.
[00:17:20] Bryan Murphy: Yeah. We had Leilani's on the podcast, so I'll be sure to
[00:17:23] Liza Pierce: Oh, you did? Oh, cool.
[00:17:25] Bryan Murphy: The, the GM there, Jason, I don't know if he still the gm, but.
[00:17:28] Bryan Murphy: Yeah, it was, he was on and it was great. 'cause yeah, we, we were at second floor wasn't open yet, so we went up there and did the, did the episode. Wow. And we just, you know, dolphins were out swimming. It was just such a beautiful day, man. On West Side. We were there. It is. It was beautiful. Yeah.
[00:17:44] Liza Pierce: It's beautiful.
[00:17:45] Liza Pierce: So we always recommend us when we have visitors. You know, we have friends and family coming in to visit us. Uhhuh, you know, from the mainland, we always take them to one of those restaurants, Leilani's or Hula Grill, or Duke's. Actually, we have a gone to Duke's part, but they are also there in a montage. We never miss it.
[00:18:04] Liza Pierce: And you know why We also always go there? It's because of the hula pie. Yeah. Yep.
[00:18:10] Stick Figure - Music: So good.
[00:18:11] Liza Pierce: You gotta try the hula pie. When you come visit those restaurants, you wanna describe what the hula pie is? Sure. You're familiar with it, right?
[00:18:19] Bryan Murphy: Yeah. No, we, we, we had it when we're there. It's just huge. It's a huge fly so you can share it.
[00:18:25] Bryan Murphy: You can share it. Yeah. And it's got like this crust on the bottom right? What's that? It's like a, um, yes.
[00:18:30] Liza Pierce: Macadamia nut crust. Yeah. It's got the macada
[00:18:32] Bryan Murphy: nut crust and it's just, oh, it's so good. And then
[00:18:35] Liza Pierce: this, the chocolate syrup. The chocolate
[00:18:37] Bryan Murphy: syrup. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
[00:18:39] Liza Pierce: Yeah. It, it is so good. My husband can eat the whole thing without sharing,
[00:18:45] Bryan Murphy: so it's definitely big enough to share himself.
[00:18:47] Bryan Murphy: Share like we
[00:18:48] Liza Pierce: order two or one, because if it's only one, he'll eat them. Right. It is. Very, very good dessert. So I'm sure you'll find them on Instagram. It's, it's very Instagram worth these dessert. And so, yeah. So we mentioned that they also have now a monkey pod on the west side, you know, in Whalers Village as well.
[00:19:10] Liza Pierce: Another spot that I would like to mention in this is not the usual places to go for a dessert for dinner or lunch, but it's very popular for breakfast. It's called Poppy's Ohana. Hmm. And their specialty. They're in Kana side. I think. Kahan. Their specialties is this cinnamon roll.
[00:19:30] Stick Figure - Music: Ooh.
[00:19:31] Liza Pierce: Very popular spot that people line up like super long line in the morning just to be able to get poppies, ohana.
[00:19:38] Liza Pierce: Cinnamon roll. So I thought I'd mention that. You know, if you wanna try something new, check that out, Pop's. Oh, so that's on the on side. Kaa. Just to mention, KAA special place is the bunion tree at the Ritz Carlton. Also the burger shock next to the Fleming Beach. The Fleming Beach. We went there last December.
[00:20:03] Liza Pierce: You know, I did a staycation. Mm-hmm. And that burger shock, all their food also. And then our dinner at the bunion tree was super special as well. So yeah. So those are, there's some more, I mean I can go on and go and Ali and Kalu side, but maybe some other time. Sure,
[00:20:24] Bryan Murphy: yeah.
[00:20:25] Liza Pierce: We'll mention the ones we did not mention here.
[00:20:28] Liza Pierce: 'cause we need to go to Lana side.
[00:20:29] Bryan Murphy: Yeah, let's go. Okay,
[00:20:31] Liza Pierce: let's go Lana. Okay, so the popular place is there. Aloha Plate Lunch. That's next to the ocean as well. Next to. And it is, it's kinda interesting. They, they change, they close it down during Covid and then now they're open again. But people love that place.
[00:20:53] Liza Pierce: You know, you wanna experience the local plate lunch specialty and in, you're on the West side, go there at the Aloha Plate Lunch. And the sister company is, and it's right next to it too, is Star Noodles. And as the name says, you know, they're specialties noodles. But they also have other food that you can order from them.
[00:21:14] Liza Pierce: You know, the usual hamburger and they have this dessert malasada. Mm-hmm.
[00:21:21] Stick Figure - Music: You
[00:21:21] Liza Pierce: know, if you don't, you know Malo Par is like the local donut. They have that dessert there that's super, super good, but the garlic noodle is the popular one that people order. Then you go farther down and you'll see Nu Restaurant.
[00:21:37] Liza Pierce: Then next to Honu. I'm not very familiar with the Honu, but I have to mention it 'cause it's also recommended. But next to it. One of my favorites is Malas Sven, so it's right next to the ocean. They have really good food as well. So any, anything you order on malas is really good. I think my husband had hamburger there too.
[00:22:00] Stick Figure - Music: Okay.
[00:22:00] Liza Pierce: They actually recently hosted Laa. Food and Wine Festival. Oh, okay. Just to encourage people to come and, you know, and let people know that Lana is open on that side of Lana at least. And so they did the Laa Food and Wine Festival and it's the first, and they're gonna do it again next. Year. Oh, that's cool.
[00:22:20] Liza Pierce: You know, it's an annual event. So yeah, Mala Tavern Cross the street from Mala Tavern is Coco Deck, and it used to be the Kind, but they rebranded. It's now Coco Deck. They got Simon there. That's really good. And the Chef Kitchen assassin is his Instagram name. Yeah. A lot of specialty, unique flavor, but also with the local touch.
[00:22:45] Liza Pierce: Yeah. And so that, those are the places in Laa that I would recommend.
[00:22:49] Bryan Murphy: Awesome man. There is so many on my list that I need to get back. That's a great guide. I mean, is there a spot, because I know a lot of people, they're staying west side and they want to do, say they want to, you know, drive road Hana for the day.
[00:23:06] Stick Figure - Music: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
[00:23:07] Bryan Murphy: Are there any like fast serve spots that you would recommend, just kind of like as you're going.
[00:23:13] Liza Pierce: Yeah, I'm trying to think. They used to have that in pa. Yeah, it probably might even be the PAA fish market that we mentioned. Okay. And the Tobys, you know, on PA side, I'm just thinking if I'm going to Hana, that will be the spot that I will stop.
[00:23:28] Bryan Murphy: It's a kind of a quicker serve.
[00:23:29] Liza Pierce: A quicker serve. Yeah. Okay. So now if you're coming from Kihei. And you just wanna bring sandwiches? Mm-hmm. You know, on your trip, you know, package. Oh, sure. Put it in a little. I would recommend, there are two places that I would recommend. One is a fork and salad, so they have sandwiches as well.
[00:23:49] Liza Pierce: Okay. And so those are the good ones to bring. You know, I should go along and traveling in your car, you can eat, you know the sandwiches and they're, they're packed, ready for you to go. Another sandwich place Salad and sandwich Place is 8 0 8 Deli. They are actually where the, the kitchen in Rainbow Mall used to be.
[00:24:09] Liza Pierce: Oh, okay. Yeah. And so they specialize in sandwiches and salad as well. So yeah, those are the two places that I would recommend when you're going out, out and about driving. But you wanna pack a place that have something to eat, you know, in your car. Those are the two ones. And then if you're in Kaulu Yeah.
[00:24:30] Liza Pierce: Then might as well stop by tin roof. Right.
[00:24:33] Bryan Murphy: What, what, I mean we've talked so much and we're gonna list everything and we'll list in the show notes, but what other maybe one or two tips would you want visitors to know just in general when visiting Maui specifically?
[00:24:48] Liza Pierce: The reservation is a good thing, you know, 'cause you'll never know.
[00:24:53] Liza Pierce: You know, like we said, it's a little bit slow, but still there are sometimes difficulty with the labor, the servers, you know, the scheduling and so you never know the schedules. So it's better to make reservations early, make well, that's one tip I would give is make reservation. And then the other one is actually give good tips.
[00:25:19] Liza Pierce: This is a community wherein the service is really important. Mm-hmm. And so some forget that you know, the service industry, the servers rely on TIP as well. So it's a good way to just give aloha to people. Right. Okay. Chip. Well. Right.
[00:25:33] Bryan Murphy: Well, good. I know we mentioned in episode one we talked more about a Maui blog and where people can find you.
[00:25:39] Bryan Murphy: But for maybe if someone didn't. Listen to episode one, and I wanna encourage you to go back and listen to episode one, but where can people find you and fall along with you and your journeys?
[00:25:51] Liza Pierce: Like what you said, the blog, but I'm also active on Instagram.
[00:25:54] Bryan Murphy: Okay.
[00:25:55] Liza Pierce: So when they want to see, you know, all the things that have been mentioned here, you'll probably see Instagram reels I created about those restaurants in there.
[00:26:04] Liza Pierce: And I post a lot about Sunset because people like to relax and watch Sunset and you know, the ocean, so there's a lot of them in there. I'm also on, I started doing YouTube actually. What? Visit Live Love Maui, and a lot of YouTube shorts, which are similar to the reels, but yeah, yeah. All right. If you are more on YouTube than Instagram, then you'll find me there too.
[00:26:28] Bryan Murphy: Awesome. Well, this has been quite a journey. I can't wait to get back on Maui and I hope to meet up. There's so many people from doing the podcast that I just, I get back on Maui. I want to like, there's like five people I wanna meet like when I'm there and you're definitely one of 'em. And Ellie and the people that staff at.
[00:26:50] Bryan Murphy: Ani and Pizza Madness. You know, I just, just want to get back and having you talk about the food and like, ah, so much about culture is food and food is culture and it's, it's, I just wanna say thank you for your time and everything that you've put into both these episodes. I, I'm sure for people listening, it's gonna be.
[00:27:12] Bryan Murphy: Super valuable because it's, it's one thing to search on Yelp and Google and just kinda hope that those reviews are gonna lead you to the right spot. But it's one thing to get someone like you an expert guide on Maui talking about the actual spots is super helpful. So thank you. Oh,
[00:27:29] Liza Pierce: thank you. Thank you for having me.
[00:27:30] Liza Pierce: I'm, you know, happy to share and just happy to share about these local businesses. Awesome. And looking forward to you visiting.
[00:27:38] Bryan Murphy: That's right. Awesome. Thank you so much And aloha. Aloha. That wraps up our food journey across South Shore and West Maui for part two and for part one. Be sure to go back and listen to that after this episode.
[00:27:55] Bryan Murphy: We cover spots from KeHE to reopen restaurants in Lana cover lot, lot of local favorites and some ones that you have probably already heard of as well.
