Ep. 111: Politics weigh in on markets
Cameron Brandt and Kirsten Longbottom provide a recap on a week where we saw major central banks on both sides of the Atlantic hike rates by 75 basis points. Investors didn’t overreact, instead looking ahead to the US mid-term elections and different ways they could play out. Politics is also shaping the flow picture for China Equity Funds, with analysis of flows by currency showing that domestic money is driving recent flows while US dollar-denominated flows have ebbed since the summer. Cam and Kirsten also talk about the impact windfall taxes and rising costs are having on sentiment towards Energy, Financials and Utilities Sector Funds and take deeper dive into Technology Sector Funds and key sub-groups.
