Starting Right

When Everything Crumbles, Remember: I Got You

DannyMac Season 1 Episode 1316

Have you ever felt lost in today's increasingly chaotic and hostile world? This episode offers a powerful reminder of the mutual relationship we share with God that becomes our anchor in tumultuous times.

Featuring Danny Gokey's moving song "I Got You," we explore the profound truth that not only does God have us, but we have Him as well. When confusion reigns and attacks come from all sides, our relationship with God provides the peace we desperately need. As Gokey sings, "The world might be shaking, but I stay in your presence, standing strong in your love because I got you."

Speaker 1:

Good morning and welcome to Starting Right with Danny Mac. I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great five-minute start to your day. So grab your cup of coffee, sit back, relax and let me help you start your day right. Good morning everyone, and welcome to Monday, and today I've got, I think, a very special song for you. It's from Danny Gokey and it's called I Got you, and sometimes we need to be reminded of that part of the relationship that not only does he have us, but we have Him as well. In fact, that's what the relationship is all about. It's that he has adopted us into His family, but now we have him as our heavenly father to help us and guide us.

Speaker 1:

There's a couple of verses in the Old Testament that help us to understand it a little bit better. In Jeremiah, chapter 32 and verse 38, god says they will be my people and I will be their God. And then, over in Psalm 16, verse 11, david, speaking of the Lord, wrote you will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. From those verses you can see the two sides of the relationship that he has us, but we also have him. Here's some of the lyrics from I Got you. They go like this when would I be if it wasn't for you? Lost in the dark, then you walked in the room. I came alive when you opened my eyes. I won't go back to that life. The world might be shaking, but I stay in your presence, standing strong in your love because I got you.

Speaker 1:

Some of those words in there are really important, particularly the way our world is right now. It says, and honestly, our world really is shaking and the attack on Christianity is horrendous. We saw it in the opening ceremonies of the Olympics, where the Last Supper and Christ were openly mocked and accepted by most of the world and where it used to be that Christianity was only attacked in communist countries, where the Last Supper and Christ were openly mocked and accepted by most of the world and where it used to be that Christianity was only attacked in communist countries. It seems like there's open season now on Christianity, even throughout the Western world, whose nations were originally established, understanding that God and his rules had to be the basis for success. And not only is it politicians and people outside of Christianity who are attacking it. We see the Christian church attacking itself, people tearing down and destroying ministers and people who believe slightly different than they do.

Speaker 1:

Now, I'm not saying that we should allow for the minimization of the truths of Scripture or the absolute warping of the truths of Scripture, as some are doing, but what I'm seeing is that there are good people, good Christian people who love God and want to serve Him, who are attacking and disavowing each other over minor things, and the Christian church is at war within itself. We must be bringing Christ to tears when he looks down and sees what His church is doing. Yeah, that's where we're at, but here's what we can do and what we need to do. In the midst of all of the confusion and of all of the attacks, we need to remember that God is still in control and that he has us and that we have him. It's so good to know that, in the midst of troubles and trials and chaos and a world that just doesn't make sense, that we can know that God is with us and for us and we can trust him.
