Starting Right
My God Can
Mornings feel different when you remember you’re not carrying the day alone. We take five focused minutes to reset with Scripture, a clear view of trust, and the uplifting punch of Katie Nicole’s “My God Can.” This isn’t about pretending life is easy; it’s about anchoring yourself to promises that hold when plans fall apart and emotions run hot.
The heartbeat of the episode is simple and freeing: I can’t, but my God can. We connect that theme to Romans 8:28, showing how real hope does not deny hardship; it declares that nothing is wasted in God’s hands. The lyrics from “My God Can” become a daily mantra for courage, helping you face storms, giants, and unknowns with a calm that makes sense only if you’re not standing alone. Whether you need a nudge to pray bigger, breathe slower, or just take the next right step, this five-minute reset offers clarity, comfort, and a reason to keep going.

Good morning and welcome to Starting Right with Danny Mack. I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great five-minute start to your day. So grab your cup of coffee, sit back, relax, and let me help you start your day right. Good morning, everybody, and welcome to our Music Monday edition of Starting Right, where today we are going to take a look at a song from Katie Nicole, a wonderful song called My God Can. As Christians, we've been taught to trust God, but it can be challenging to fully grasp what that means in our everyday lives. Trusting God means more than just believing in his existence. It means believing in his promises and understanding that he is always on our side, working for our greater good. Let's take a look at just some of those promises. One of my favorites is in Jeremiah 29, 11, which says, I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. I love this verse so much. It speaks to me and has been part of my life for a long time as one of my favorites, because it reveals God's heart and his intent for my life, for all of our lives. Over in Hebrews 13, verse 5, God promises, I will never leave you or forsake you. Man, this is another one of those powerful reminders that no matter what the circumstances, God is always by our side, and he is our constant source of comfort and strength. And not only does God have plans for us and has promised to never leave us or forsake us, he also has all the power. He is able to do amazing things. Ephesians 3 20 says, Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, God can accomplish things that we can't even imagine. In fact, he's probably doing that far more often than we're even aware of. Things that are happening behind the scenes God is working out for our benefit and for our good. Sometimes when we're fearful or we're worried about the future, we need to remind ourselves of God's power and the miracles that Jesus performed, because God created the entire world. Jesus gave sight to the blind man, he raised Lazarus from the dead, and he healed the woman who touched the hem of Jesus' garment. Those miracles and so many more throughout the Bible are there to encourage us and remind us that God is able to deal with any situation and with any problem. I think this next verse is the one that Katie Nicole based her song upon because it fits it so beautifully. It's from Romans 8 28, which reminds us that we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. That verse us that even though every situation that we face will not be easy or pleasant, it reassures us that God can turn every circumstance toward our benefit. Here's just a few of the lyrics from the song that remind us of these things. I might not be able to part the waters, might not be able to calm the storms, might not be able to make my giants fall, but good thing I'm not alone, because there's a power that is greater, so I'm not afraid of what's ahead. I'm standing in the confidence that even though I can't, my God can. This song is a beautiful and powerful reminder to keep trusting God because even in the darkest situations, our God can turn it around. Our job is simply to hang on to Him, to trust Him, to have faith in Him, and keep believing that even in the darkest of times, God is able to do a mighty miracle and to turn it around. God can and God will. Just trust Him. I'm gonna leave you with just a clip of the song, My God Can, and in your show notes today there will be the YouTube link to it where you can go and listen and watch the whole song. I hope you have a great day, my friends. Don't forget, our God can, and He will. When everything seems to be going wrong, our God can turn it around. Here's Katie Nicole. Have a great day, my friends.
